After two visits, I've realized Adel's isn't for me. Despite it being a very charming space. My first visit was just okay, but my second is what led me to leave this low rating. I ordered the French Toast Special, which includes eggs and a choice of sausage or bacon. As someone who doesn't eat meat, I asked if I could substitute it for something small like toast, fruit, or potatoes. I was told substitutions weren't allowed, but she can just not include the meat. Since the full price still applied, I chose to keep it for my husband. Despite clearly mentioning that I don't eat meat, it was served directly alongside and touching my French toast, which was disappointing. After our food was delivered, our waitress never returned. It appeared her shift had ended, but no one else checked on us. After waiting quite a while (with only one other table occupied), we had to get up and request the check ourselves. The food itself was underwhelming. The French toast was quite dry, with an overwhelming amount of powdered cinnamon that threw off the flavor. I really wanted to like Adel's, but this experience left me unlikely to return. read more

We haven't had the chance to eat inside but we order their food to go or be delivered often and have never been disppointed! Highly recommend the Breakfast Skillets, the Taco Salad and the Steak or Spaghetti Dinners...all are delicious with very generous portions. read more

Came in just for dessert. Everyone was very nice and we were seated right away. The desserts were all very good portions. My daughter wanted the brownie but they didn't have any so she ended up getting the chocolate cake. It was a big piece and very rich and sweet. I got the apple pie overload. It came out hot with ice cream, whipped cream, caramel, and nuts. A good size. The crust was really soft but I guess maybe from warming it up. We decided to try Adel's since it was across the street from our hotel and I'm so glad that we did!! The food was delicious. My husband and I both had the classic burger and fries and I have to say, that was one of the best burgers that I've ever had. The bun was soft and delicious and the hamburger itself was cooked perfectly as were the french fries. The service was wonderful and our waitress was very helpful. She checked in on us to make sure that everything came out right. Definitely check this place out when visiting Eureka. read more

First of all, slower Wednesday morning. Light amount of people dining. The waitress was very polite and knew exactly where to seat a single diner--away from people. I ordered the Blackstone Benedict. Food took about 15 mins. Standard when dining in. The food was not only delicious but came out like a piece of artwork. The fruit was fresh. The coffee was stout. Great diner style eatery. Lots of choices and breakfast available all day. I i got a short stack of pancakes and glad I did, they were the size of the dinner plate. I get if your soda machine is broken but your wait staff should be letting customers know they're paying for bottled soda, especially when it's basically $4. $8 for warm sprite and a flat coke, you're smoking something. Not to mention your hostess acting like we ruined her night by walking in and there was maybe four other tables that had people. Tossed the menus on the table and didn't say a word to us. I've been here before, but never posted a review. I was visiting family in town, so decided to stop in for breakfast. The place was bright, fresh, and spotless as usual, and everybody was very friendly and helpful. I'm trying to eat healthier, so I decided to go for the vegetarian omelette. Zucchini, yellow squash, broccoli, mushrooms, onions, jack and cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream. I'm not a fan of broccoli, so they swapped out spinach for the broccoli. I asked for fruit instead of potatoes, and got a nice selection of melon and orange. Very fresh. The breakfast was excellent. The squash was perfect. Not too mushy, but not too al dente either. It also was seasoned well. The spinach was perfect, not too slimy like cooked spinach can be . Everything in the omelette just played really well together. I really enjoyed my meal. I found Adel's online. I was on vacation seeing the redwoods and staying in Eureka. I had 3 meals at Adel's. First off my waitress, Rebecca, was so real and helpful, not only as a server but as a travel guide. She suggested quite a few things that would be good to see and do in and around Eureka. I had two breakfasts, the Florentine Benedict and the Chorizo Benedict which were absolutely spot on. Fresh, flavorful and generous helpings. My dinner was a Reuben Sandwich and potato salad. I was quite large, loaded with meat and sauerkraut. The potato salad was decent and the sandwich was hearty and just OK (I was not particularly fond of the chopped beef). This little diner is the way I remember them in the old days. You could see all the locals were coming in and yes, everyone knew their names. I wish Adel's was was here where I live. This was our first visit here - we liked the looks of the outside and inside was clean and spacious. We were craving steaks and had lots of questions for our server, Paulina, who was just a delight. We were surprised at the end of the meal to learn we were her first table as she was new. Her trainer, Sydney was also delightful. I ofdered hot tea - they had my favorite Earl Grey, and the served it with honey and lemon slices - just the way I like it. The Hubbs ordered the 12 oz sirloin and they accommodated all his special orders perfectly. I tried their chopped steak with onions and mushrooms with a side of brown gravy. Everything was very good. Went for dinner on Thanksgiving evening. Party of 7. This is what we ate. The Sampler Salmon dinner Fettuccine Primavera Shrimp Scampi Dinner Caesar Salad Scampi Fettuccine Kids popcorn chicken Ribeye Steak Dinner 2 beers and fountain drinks. Nice family restaurant. Clean. Service was friendly and our breakfast was served quickly. The consensus on the food was that it was "alright". Mom had a country skillet, which she had requested to have very lightly over easy eggs (instead of typical scrambled) because she adores runny yolk, but they came very overcooked (dry yolks.) She was experiencing low glucose and needed to eat immediately so she didn't send it back but also didn't enjoy the eggs at all and thought the dish lacked flavor overall. This place is "known" for the breakfast selections. What I ordered was quite simple. Poached eggs, wheat toast and a fruit bowl. The eggs were more soft boiled than poached, no liquid "runny" factor at all. The toast was limp, like it hadn't been toasted at all, and the fruit. The fruit made me the maddest. The one, the only Adele's establishment in Humboldt County I was highly impressed with the waitresses and staff especially when a Spanish-speaking man came in and he needed help with ordering his food. One of the waitresses remain very professional and said he would be helped soon. Unfortunately I did not hear anyone staff talking to him in Spanish in order to explain the menu to him but it seemed like he was able to communicate as much as possible in English. I highly appreciate that staff was more than accommodating in allowing my partner and I to move tables when we wanted to sit closer to the windows for a view. Once we left I had remembered I left my sunglasses at the table and they more than willingly saved them in the front desk until I returned. This morning, I ordered soft poached eggs with corn beef hash, orange juice and a piece of cake for this evening. The eggs were hard cooked; orange juice was watered down and the cake frosting was melted because it was bagged with the hot food. It does no good to complain to the restaurant, as they have no quality control over their food before it leaves the restaurant. read more

I went here a couple of times for breakfast. It's a nice all-around diner. I had the ribeye steak and eggs and the steak tasted fantastic which was surprising because diners usually don't make the best steak, but I highly recommend this place. read more

The avocado is always green and fresh, never a blemish insight. We always order it with fires and a side of coleslaw. Don't forget to get the mimosas! Going out for breakfast at different local spots, wherever I may be, has always been my thing. Adels seems more like a big chain restaurant like a Dennys but it felt more personal. Getting the bad out of the way. I know it's breakfast time but sometimes you need to treat yourself. My son ordered a chocolate milkshake and got chocolate milk covered in whipped cream and a cherry. Needless to say he was rather disappointed and ordered a juice instead. The pancake was a but tough and didn't come with near enough butter or syrup. I'm certain it was a heated frozen pancake. It's one of the dishes I judge at every breakfast spot I hit. The corned beef hash was meh. The corned beef itself lacked any kind of seasoning or flavor and the potato chunks were way to big into proportion with the shreds. Even sprinkling on lots of salt and pepper failed to save it. That is my other dish I rate at every breakfast place I go to (that has it on the menu). Now the positives. I really liked the hash browns, large shreds of potatoes cooked to a golden brown, the eggs were cooked perfectly (most breakfast places fail at cooking an over easy egg properly). My son liked the biscuits and gravy. My husband seemed to enjoy the eggs benedict he ordered. My daughter got the crepes with strawberries and she literally DEVOURED them. The sausage links were just ok. Next time I want to try a different breakfast spot, but adels location was convenient and was a nice break from the subpar free breakfast at the Holiday Inn. read more

Stepping into Adel's Restaurant today was a bit of a flashback to when family restaurants ruled the market. Before breweries, fusion, taphouses and casual dining were family restaurants. They made everything and most of it was better than cooking at home. This is what you should expect at Adels. Nothing fancy, just friendly service and lots to choose from. We went for a late breakfast/brunch today. They serve breakfast later than most of eureka which is a bonus for me because I like breakfast at noon. I had a mimosa and read the whole menu before settling on the ribeye steak and eggs. Hubby got the ham and eggs with country potatoes. First let me say, our server, Avery, was excellent. She made honest, helpful recommendations based on our questions. Our food was mostly good. On mine, the steak and hashbrowns were excellent. Eggs were 50/50, one good, one not. And my toast, which was supposed to be sourdough just tasted like plain white bread. On hubbies' his eggs were good, potatoes and ham just ok, and pancake good. So really, they hit about 65-70%. The price was reasonable. The place was clean and well staffed. All in all, nice, but not fabulous. If I could give them 4.5 stars I would. I applaud them for continuing to uphold the family restaurant ideals. read more
