Creative and healthy take on Asian fusion bowls! Had the Miso Pom (vegetarian) bowl and was amazed about the depth of flavors. The sweet potato mash was bright and citrusy, I kept finding myself grabbing more. The kale was perfectly massaged with extra dressing on the side. The Chinese tart yogurt reminds me of my childhood, except with a modern and fun take of toppings such as lemon curd, blueberry, and a chocolate cherry almond. The blueberry/lemon was a fan favorite amongst my group! Jackie the owner has put a lot of attention and work into the space. It is thoughtfully curated, bridging a wide variety of Asian cultures into the ambiance as well as the food. She is also really sweet and welcoming. I'm exciting to come back and try more items!

Welcome addition to the SOMA neighborhood! And very glad it's also open on weekends when so many other neighborhood spots are only open Mon-Fri. Hearty Asian bowls in a very spacious restaurant - lots of light, open seating, and restrooms. We ordered the Thai Basil pork and Pear Coconut Curry. Both were very good and filling with fresh ingredients and tender proteins. The flavors are expected, if not out of this world. Will definitely be back!

Miso Pom Harvest Bowl with modifications

I am grateful I finally got to try Yuja since it's been on my list for months, but the location makes it tricky to visit. Though the exterior surroundings (which include the Bay Bridge onramp and challenging parking) are stressful, the space itself is calming and removed from the relative chaos just outside. The people manning the counter were also welcoming and helpful, adding to the serene atmosphere of the tastefully decorated space. As for the cuisine, I need a second visit to know exactly where I land; another order would help solidify its status in my rotation and determine if it's worth a routine trip across town. Part of my uncertainty comes from the fact that I customized my dish heavily, rendering my Miso Pom Harvest Bowl fairly different than the exact one on the menu. I subbed wok veg for potatoes and subbed charred scallion dressing for herby tahini dressing. That said, their delivery apps make these modifications very easy, so I believe the modularity of the menu is part of the appeal. In fact, the availability of modifications could be a highlight of their menu and they should lean into that style of cuisine. The menu is already on the cusp of the build-your-own bowl genre; they could embrace it, while still being a clear cut above the Sweetgreens of the world. Many of the dishes are only differentiated by a couple ingredients so allowing the customer to choose the base, protein and sauce would make it a simpler experience without axing any of the offerings. As for the food I got, the broccoli and beets were well-roasted, the kale was nicely chopped and the miso pomegranate squash dip was a real highlight (though they should give twice as much!). Basically, I enjoyed my meal and think there is great potential but a minor overhaul of the menu would make it worth parking in that part of town.

Came for the frozen yogurt and will DEF be back for it!! Was initially hesitant because of the limited flavor options but I ended up getting both the lemon and blueberry topping and it was delicious!! The yogurt itself isn't too sweet at all, instead a little bit tart and more like Yakult, which paired perfectly with the citrusy fruity toppings. Since it was just yogurt it was ready pretty quickly. Even though I got mine to go there was a large seating area inside and a pretty cute vibe (giving date night!) Will have to come back to try their bowls!

Such a cute place! I went with my friend and even met the owner here - she's super nice! Good: - Food was delicious - loved the thai basil pork and it was very healthy and hearty - great flavor and very tasty - I ate it super fast - Chinese froyo was so good! I felt like the price was much better than Souvla too - The place is beautiful and great for coworking, very quiet and calm inside and modern. - Food comes out very quickly Bad: - The area it's in is more sketchy and empty Overall this was such a cute find and I'll be back!

The chicken is well cooked! Juicy and tender. Lots of bathrooms Also try the Chinese style frozen yogurt, you won't find it anywhere else in the city

    Kale caesar with tofu
    Maya R.

This restaurant just opened near my apartment, so I was excited to give it a try! We ordered the Kale Caesar with tofu and the Shaking Beef bowl. The Kale Caesar unfortunately didn't have enough dressing -- I actually ended up adding some from home -- but the kale itself was nicely massaged and flavorful, which I appreciated. The tofu was a bit on the dry side, though the crispy wontons were a nice touch. My sister-in-law ordered the Shaking Beef and, unfortunately, found a hair in her bowl. We'd already had a long night, so we decided not to go back to the restaurant. That said, the Shaking Beef itself was more flavorful to both of us, and the chimichurri sauce was delicious. I'm curious to try a few other bowls for the convenience factor, but I'm not in a rush to return. It pains me to write this since it's such a new restaurant -- I really wanted to love it -- but I'm sharing my honest experience. Hopefully, they iron out these small issues because the menu definitely has potential!

Market salad with salmon (partially eaten).
    Serena S.

Very healthy food! I had the market salad - they massaged the kale lightly dressed so even if you're not a kale lover (like me), it was quite enjoyable. It also came with small cubes of beets and citrus - the small size actually made a difference in how they were included in every bite. Toasted almonds added a crunch. The bowl comes with fingerling potatoes perfectly cooked so you get a creaminess. Sweet mashed potatoes add a colorful, sweet touch. I added salmon to my salad - perfectly cooked to retain moistness. Since I'm trying to eat more heart-healthy, I will definitely try again though it's way out of my neighborhood. It's counter service. The room has super high ceilings that make the place feel cavernous. It's a utilitarian cafe decor, not really a restaurant. They don't have great signage - you've likely passed it a gazillion times if you've ever driven the bay bridge. They could light up their windows better!

I wanted to check out a new lunch spot, and was so pleasantly surprised! Cameron at the counter was so helpful, and walked me through the different options. Great, healthy, casual bowls. The indoor space is inviting and warm. I'll have to come back to try the frozen yogurt, and would love if they were able to add coffee to the menu!

New spot worth checking out with a really cool indoor space! I tried the Thai Basil Bowl with chicken and a side of pork--everything was so flavorful, especially the sauce that came with the bowl. The tofu looked amazing too, and I can't wait to try it next time. Such a great place for fresh, healthy food with bold Asian flavors.

I loved Yuja so much that I went two days in a row because it is just that good. I've tried the Shaking Beef, Thai Basil Pork, and the Miso Pomegranate Harvest Bowl with Salmon, and every bite was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Each bowl comes with a delicious sauce, and they even have a limited selection of beer and wine, which makes it such a cozy spot to relax. Jackie, the owner, is the sweetest. She greets every customer with a smile and takes the time to chat and ask for feedback, making every visit feel warm and personal. The space is bright, modern, and spacious, and adding coffee or matcha to the menu would make it the perfect spot to linger even longer. Yuja has quickly become one of my favorite places, and I can't wait to come back.

Everything about this place is perfect to me - from the ambiance to the food to the service! Rincon Hill is definitely lacking places to eat during the evening and the weekend. Most of the places in the neighborhood target corporate workers so either 1. It's only open during lunch and 2. It's super expensive. So I'm very happy that to see that Yuja opened up in the neighborhood to bring that community feel to Rincon Hill! I've been here 3 times since they've opened and so far I've tried the Shaking Beef, Ground Pork with Basil, and the Chicken Teriyaki. All have been 10 out of 10 for me. The flavors are simple yet well executed and the portions are great! I love the potato salad and the sauces that come along with it too! Also wanted to mention the wonderful service I've gotten here too! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Always tempted to come here every night. Definitely recommend!! And looking forward to trying more of the menu items!

Thai Pork Bowl to go + chili oil
    Lannie T.

Yuja recently opened, and I was happy to see a new Asian-focused restaurant come into the area after the closure of Spice Kit. I came in and ordered the dish I saw most on the reviews for takeout: the Thai Basil Pork bowl, and I snagged a little container of house-made chili oil as a bonus. Service was very friendly, and the wait wasn't too long to get my bowl together. While I ended up ordering for takeout, the ambiance was warm and inviting and somewhere I could see myself dining in person as well. They do serve alcohol but... A bit early for lunch time. More importantly, onto the food: the Thai Basil Pork bowl, for a price of $16.50, is a huge bowl, balanced with veggies, protein, and carbs. The meat was well seasoned (even without the sauce), and I really appreciated having both cooked and fresh veggies in the bowl! The sauce was also super flavorful and refreshing to balance out the other flavors. My only real criticism is that the chili oil I grabbed wasn't as flavorful/fragrant as I hoped it to be on its own, and as a result it was lost against the other flavors. Overall, I'm very happy with the food and the vibes! Will definitely be coming back to try their other dishes to support.

We were seated quickly despite the madness and got a cozy booth away from all of the foot traffic & chaos. 5-stars for the staff here for really hustling to accommodate & serve the absolute crush of people. They were very nice, attentive, professional, and pleasant despite the chaos. The inside is very nice & clean, with minimal decor and a big, bright atmosphere. The bar was an absolute tower and the tables (there aren't many), are well laid out and spaced apart. Another downside for this small restaurant is only having two bathrooms, which creates lines 10-12 people long, but the bathrooms are big, clean, and spacious. Outside is a patio, but then again, who would want to sit amongst the throngs of people waiting to go into Chase Center? Crazy crowded, busy, and chaotic. But, the ample & efficient staff really hold things down here, impressive service. We had a couple of cocktails including an old fashioned & some Golden State ciders. Prices were a bit higher than expected, but I guess a night out in San Francisco is always going to expensive. We order the salt & pepper tofu appetizer and the Samusa soup, since we wanted to stay light and nimble for the upcoming 3 hours of concert going. The drinks were good, but I did not enjoy the food. It was overly spicy, and the slickness definitely dominated the flavors and made it difficult to finish anything. The soup wasn't very hot (temperature-wise) but definitely too hot (spiciness-level). Mind you, I love spicy food, and very spicy levels, but this was so much so, thst you couldn't taste anything else except the red chili peppers . The salt & pepper tofu was pretty good, with ample portions for it being a $20 appetizer. The dipping sauce was flavorful, but don't reach too far under the dish, because you'll get another wallop of red peppers and over-bearing spices. We did finish the appetizer, but only about half of the soup. Pretty disappointed, and we did leave there still hungry after a $100 bill for only two cocktails and two smaller food dishes. +1 for the amazing service. Our waitress absolutely delivered everything quickly & efficiently, despite the swell of old NIN goths defending upon the restaurant all at the same time. Everyone was running around, yet controlled and attentive. They are very well-trained & composed, and I'm sure they experience this same situation every time there is a concert, event, or sports game at Chase Center. +1 for the drinks and +1 for the nice atmosphere and clean environment. The food was disappointing, as well as the long wait to use the bathrooms. I probably wouldn't go back here again, especially on a game or concert night, and if I did, I'd probably only stick to drinks & appetizers. The overly spicy food is the downside for me, I just could not taste anything besides red chili peppers. Maybe just stick to noodles or rice dishes or salad next time. Definitely come here for the drinks though!

I parked at a nearby parking lot and it was only about a 5-minute walk, which was easy and convenient. The food is Cantonese style, beautifully prepared, and thoughtfully executed. Every dish tasted refined and well-balanced, not overly heavy, and clearly made with quality ingredients. Service was excellent--attentive, warm, and well-timed without being intrusive. This is a great spot if you want to enjoy a meal at a slow, relaxed pace, savoring each course rather than feeling rushed. Perfect for a quiet dinner, date night, or when you want something elevated but understated.

Have seen pics of the dining room, modern and beautiful, destination dining, my favorite. Been dying to come here. Familiar with Hakasan, (dined there dozens of times, so sad it's gone from SF), so it was a guarantee of quality right? Wrong. First off the bar was completely empty at 7:30pm. Dining room held all of two tables. Caucasian folks like us. Uh Oh. somethings wrong here. Yep. But.... delicious cocktails, the bartender was new (as was everyone else??) we talked baijiu but he was not too familiar. He dredged up three bottles. I inquired if one might be on offer for this gala new years dinner ($138 per person, $60 each supplemental beverages/wine plus $20% gratuity ++) and he didn't know, check with your server. Beautiful view from our table, SO QUIET in there, nice music but no buzz, no clatter of dishes, sounds of people, .... where is everybody no staff...... then we did get some staff after 15 minutes, clever lighthearted waiter, a somm? stopped by. We are in the biz so we ourselves selected the brut rose sparkling from Loire. Yummy. (super limited wine list, why??? ) The somm never returned to see how we liked it... At 8:45 our server came by to say the bar was closing and did we want any other drinks? Seriously. Our jaws dropped. we were half way through our meal.... I swear I am not making this up. Multicourse dinner, some nice offerings but the abalone was terrible. Awful flavor. Crab w/ caviar was mushed up with undercooked egg white mixed in? ok, maybe a familiar dish for chinese? But come on, were looking for tradition but also for things that actually taste good ! Mains were served family style, why? a prix fixe dinner served family style? Pork knuckles awesome. Waxed duck was actually fried rice, no bueno. (With bones in it? so weird) Desert was good but again family style. Three of us trying to split two plates of mini deserts....? just weird. "Don't take too big a bite" like we had to portion it out ourselves. $993.00 dollars later we graciously left and said to ourselves "disappointing" !! Next time we will return to our favorite HARBORVIEW RESTAURANT for their truly amazing cantonese dishes.

This time it was a $90 set with 2 drinks, 2 servings of rice of your choice, a trio of their salads, and 2 entrees - honestly a great deal and I think the waitstaff mentioned it's about a $150 value, which I completely believe. Our party of 4 arrived around 8:15, and waited about 15 minutes to get seated - definitely try to join the ahead of time because they saved us! It's cozy, clean and well decorated inside, and though the tables are a little close you have plenty of space and it's not too loud for conversations. We got two sets of the $90 menu - which was probably a mistake since we were stuffed and had plenty of leftovers. Drinks: we got 4 different drinks - the mango Lassi, spiced sunset, nanda breeze and burma cooler. All of these were excellent, refreshing and great for balancing the strong flavors of the entrees! Rice: we always get the coconut rice, so this time we opted for 2 scoops of coconut rice and 2 scoops of the burmese fried rice - the fried rice was tasty but not as fragrant as the coconut rice so we'll probably stick to that in the future Salad trio: this included the iconic tea leaf salad, along with the pea shoot salad, and superstar noodle salad. The pea shoot salad was a surprising favorite, and I'd even consider getting that over the tea leaf salad in the future! The noodle salad was pretty filling but tasty - maybe good if you're not planning to get a bunch of entrees On to the entrees: these are all super flavorful, umami, and can get a little heavy if you don't balance it out with the rice and salads. We got the pazun kyaw (chili prawns), nga phel hin (a sort of fish patty in tomato curry sauce with fresh cucumber slices), chili lamb, and basil chili pork belly. The chili lamb was a standout - super tender, flavorful and our overall favorite. The basil chili pork belly is a close second, but a bit oilier and heavier. The nga phel hin was tasty but a little too heavy /salty - slightly helped by the cucumber but there were only 4 slices with the dish. The chili prawns had great flavor but unfortunately were a little overcooked. Overall, this was an excellent meal! Burma Superstar never fails to be a great place for a large, flavorful family style dinner. I'm glad we got to try multiple new things from the menu through the restaurant week offer, and I'll be able to switch up my typical order in the future based on what we tried this time!
