Garlic Roasted Whole Dungeness Crab is the thing to get at Fog Harbor Fish House; reasonably priced at $58, each meaty, garlicky piece was so good dipped in clarified butter. My bf ended up sharing his order with me because I didn't enjoy my Cioppino ($42.) The seafood was bland, all tasting very much alike, & the broth didn't give off that complex spicy tang that my favorite cioppinos possess. My table started with an appetizer of Red Chili Garlic Shrimp ($18) -- from the description, we were expecting a dry, possibly sautéed preparation & were disappointed that the shrimp were sitting in a watery broth. Though I was letdown by my picks here, I know my group enjoyed theirs. We were treated very well by our waiter & by the host who gave us a beautiful window seat; we enjoyed the view of the sun setting over the bay. Not a restaurant I'd regularly return to, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it (with a few caveats, of course) to someone looking for a sit-down Pier 39 meal.

I stopped by on a Sunday for lunch. I had reservation. So I got a seat right away. View from the restaurant was good. All seafood tasted fresh. Cioppino was flavorful with a lot of seafood. Fish and chips was crisp and tasty. I went for a clam chowder with crab in a bread bowl. Soup was good, but the breadbowl absorbed most of the soup, so there was very little liquid left. May be next time I will go without the bread bowl.

Reservations recommended! For being on Fisherman's Wharf and heart of tourist town, really not bad! Service was friendly and there is a nice waiting area with a fireplace. Mussel & fries: 8/10 my favorite, good flavor, not too creamy, and pretty solid. It's an app, but totally shareable and entree worthy Seafood platter for 1: 8/10, good quality seafood and a nice deal for what you get. A bit on the oiler side Crispy calamari: 7/10 nice shareable app! Fish & chips: 7.5/10, solid, not oily Baked oysters: 5/10 too much cheese in my opinion All in all, a nice restaurant for a sit down at the pier. Solid food options and drinks as well!

I went to this restaurant with some friends and thought it was really nice. Our friends were from out of town and they thoroughly enjoyed the views while we ate our lunch. Aside from that, the menu has plenty of options. I tried the clam chowder which doesn't have bacon (which I don't eat). Lastly our server was great and very attentive. I would consider this a great place to check out if you're near the pier.

While visiting San Francisco... Fog Harbor was the perfect spot to grab a quick lunch once we landed before heading to Napa. My first time in San Francisco and I loved it. The weather could've been a bit warmer but still nice enough to walk around. They were pretty busy when we walked in, but there were plenty of bar seats available. We had a nice bartender who talked to us about everything from tequila to weather. We ordered the Fried Scallop Appetizer which was just ok since we thought the scallops were a bit chewy. The clam chowder was also just ok but we probably compared it to Boston's best. We still enjoyed our time here, tired from our early flight, but the views were the best.

Service here was outstanding! It's a great environment with views of the bay and historic Alcatraz. The food is out of this world! Love this place & I will be back!

We came here about 3 Mother's Day ago and my mom was in love with their food so per the Queens request, here we are again this year. There was a dish that we were looking forward to this year that unfortunately they took off the menu, but the seafood platter was approx the same so we got that! You can never go wrong with the baked oysters!! We come bc the seafood they use is always so fresh and our waiter Nathan was super sweet, nice & attentive. Mother's Day brunch was definitely a success! Parking is difficult, location is very touristy area.

We chose this place after hearing so many great reviews, especially about the clam chowder, so our expectations were very high. Unfortunately, the chowder didn't quite live up to the hype during our visit. It was quite thick, heavy on potatoes, and lacked the depth of flavor we were hoping for. We both ordered bowls with crab, and for the price--around $40 for two bowls--it didn't feel quite worth it. That said, the scallop risotto was outstanding. The scallops were incredibly fresh, juicy, and possibly some of the best we've had. We would absolutely recommend trying that dish alone--it was the highlight of our meal. Overall, while the clam chowder didn't meet expectations this time, the scallop risotto was exceptional and worth coming back for. Hopefully, the chowder is better on a different visit for others.

I was very impressed with the service that Daniela provided during our visit to Fog Harbor. She knew the menu well and was able to assist us with making great choices for food. She was easy to talk to and also provided us with recommendations on where to explore throughout SF during our stay. Would recommend coming here, and if we are back in town then I hope she is here to serve us again.

THE MUSSEL FRIES!!! Our table ordered them last December, and five months later I haven't been able to stop thinking about them. Bathed in aioli and fennel cream, they were worth the wait. This is the third time our group has been to Fog Harbor Fish House, and we've always had delicious food and a great experience. Our server this time was Triana, and her attentiveness and genuine warmth made my birthday celebration extra special, along with the complementary birthday dessert.

We got here when they opened to make certain we got in on the fresh sourdough bread. Love the location, can see Alcatraz and the seals out the window. We were seated at a booth by the window, and had that great view. Alex was our server and he was on point with recommendations and excellent service throughout the meal. We had the calamari to start and it truly was outstanding. We followed that with the clam chowder and I can honestly say some of the best I have ever had! Great lunch, service, and food - give it a try!

Visited Fog Harbor Fish House during my last SF business trip as work ended early for the day. This spot gets quite busy for dinner so late afternoon was perfect as I was able to get seated immediately and no big crowd. So glad I did as the weather was so nice, warm and sunny! There is ample parking right at Pier 39 with the parking garage right across the street. First hour parking is also free as the restaurant validates 1 hour parking so that is a big plus! Plenty of dining tables and I requested to be seated by the window. Sweet bay view with the sun blazing! Started with a glass of Pinot Noir and it was sooo good to help relax! For appetizer, ordered a bowl of clam chowder with crab that was amazingly delicious!! For the main dish, got the grilled salmon filet over quinoa, dried cranberries, tomato relish, lemon vinaigrette, blurred blanc, and crispy onions. It was awesome!!! The staff were very courteous and attentive checking in often and quick with the additional requests. Great experience overall! Will for sure visit again.

Only tried a couple of things on the menu since we had other lunch plans too, but I'm really glad we stopped by! The oysters were SOOOO fresh and delicious, I thought about them for the rest of the day. The caesar salad was also delicious and well balanced between the savoriness and the freshness. I wish we were able to try more but that's just another reason to go back!

Fog Harbor Fish House Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Fog Harbor Fish House

Hoping to have my 64th Birthday at your restaurant ?and can I request by the window. I'm retired from school district of 21 years. And my family wanted to take me to a restaurant, but I don't know where. We will be there Saturday August 23?

We asked for a window seat both times we ate there last month. One time a seat was available and the other time it was nearby. They were busy both days. We didn't have a long wait either. Around 20 minutes.

I see Happy Hour is only in the bar area; are kids allowed to sit there? Also, is the regular menu also available at this time? Thanks!

We offer happy hour at the bar. Unfortunately due to the ABC laws guests must be 21 to sit at the bar. Yes our full menu is available all day.

Hi is there a dress code?

Vanessa There is no dress code per se as guests come in after sightseeing or a day visiting sights of SF. That being said we do have many guests that wear business casual… Read more

Is it better to sit inside or outside?

Large picture windows and they make you feel like you're outside. Depends on the weather and time of day when outdoor seating is available.

I'd like to make a reservation for one. Is that possible?

Hello, Yes we can so that for you, What date and time?

Looks like theres mixed reviews about allowing dogs. Are dogs allowed in the outdoor seating area?

Yes, we allow dogs outside.

I read some of the reviews and somebody mentioned the steak is halal. Is this still true?

The NY steak is from Creekstone Farms and is Halal.

Where to park?

In the parking garage across the street.

Do you have halibut?

It's delicious there

Is the steak halal?

Our NY steak is from Creekstone farms and is Halal.

What time is happy hour?

Weekdays from 3-5 at the bar.

What kind of cooking oil do you use? Soy allergy

We have always used canola and olive oil. Please make sure you check with your server on the day and time that you are dining. It's important that all allergies are communicated from the staff to the kitchen.

I'm having family celebration, can you accommodate about 25-30ppl, are you open for lunch, how is parking around your establishment? Waiting to hear from you, thanks.…

Please email our group reservations link on our website for large group reservations. Thank you.

Hello. Are you dog friendly?

Dogs are allowed on our outdoor seating area when it's open. Unfortunately due to the fire marshall not allowing heaters we are not able to open it every day. You would need to call the restaurant to see if it's open.

What price range is this? We will be bringing family group of 12 and want to enjoy some good seafood, but with that many people we can't afford a super expensive place.

Our menu is available online at fogharbor.com. You can find all the prices of our current menu items.

What is the dress code or typical attire?

Casual attire is fine.

Access to Parking?

Although the answers are correct, it's still a hike into Pier 39 to the restaurant. It's about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way in and one floor up. I hope that helps.

Where is a good place to park?

There is a 5 story parking structure across the street. The Pier 39 garage. It is paid parking but we will validate for 1 hour free. If you park on the 3rd floor you can walk across the bridge and we are located right at the front.

Are you open on Mon 12/26 (day after Christmas)?

Yes we will be open 11:00-9:00 pm.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Yes they're wheelchair accessible and have a wheelchair entrance along with wheelchair seating and wheelchair bathroom.

The burrito salad was alright, could have used a little more flavor in my opinion. I really like the small plates and sharing atmosphere of this place, and appreciate all of the vegetarian forward options. The space is small and intimate, definitely great for a date night or girls night! I will say if you make a reservation (I'd recommend, it's a small place and gets busy) be sure to be prompt as part of our group was running about 10 minutes late, and the servers kindly let us know we only had the table for an hour and a half, which is fairly strict on weekends.

I also appreciated the non-alcoholic options, including my favorite Fentiman's rose lemonade. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for happy hour. My only small critique is the restroom, since the entire restaurant is so classy and chic, it would have been the perfect finishing touch if the restrooms matched the same vibe.

The people were laughing, the drinks were flowing. It smelled really good, which we would later find out was from the food especially that Mac and cheese. We started off with different wines, some that Tom recommended based on what we told him we didn't like or did like. He apologized for our previous experience and was genuinely a nice guy. Honestly it's very admirable for a business owner to take feedback to heart and want to incorporate it. Plus he's a really cool guy when you get to know him. The staff was busy running around but still made time to come check on us. Our final verdict is we came on a bad day. This time we got the actual Waystone experience. We finally got to try the chicken bites with a creamy aioli, fries with yogurt sauce, and the star of the show was the Mac and cheese. Yes, the bites hit (shoutout to the watermelon salad). But what really makes Waystone magic is the people. Everyone who works here is warm, funny, and present in a way that makes you feel like you belong, whether it's your first visit or your 50th. Live jazz nights here are their own kind of therapy. I once saw a harpist who made me feel like I was floating inside the music. No cover, no pressure, just ridiculously good musicians making the whole place glow. One thing I love: the rotating local art. The walls change every so often as new artists take over, and it completely shifts the energy of the space. You might not love every piece, but that's kind of the point--it's alive, it's personal, and it's supporting real artists in SF. And if you do love something, you can take it home (yep, everything's for sale). Whether you're here for the jazz, the wine, the art, or the people.. waystone shows up with soul. I'd give it six stars if I could.
