Solid service, incredible ambiance, possibly one of the best meals we've had so far in 2026 - highly recommend this spot! We ordered: - baba ganoush - roasted carrots - terrene burger - new york strip steak The ginger ale drink was unique and it was clearly made in-house. Baba ganoush and pita were some of the best we've had - definitely the highlight of our meal. The depth of flavor was absolutely addicting. We could have eaten just the baba ganoush for our entire meal. The terrene burger was juicy and the right size for sharing. The strip steak was cooked well, had a great crust on the exterior, and was served with interesting panisse fries. The portion was large and we couldn't finish the entire plate. Terrene is part of the 1 Hotel, which has a lot of earthy, natural woods and live plants. The sustainability mission carries throughout the restaurant and the feeling you get is a mix of homey and upscale. read more

Beautiful space, so nice to be able to sit outside or indoors with a view of the bay. I appreciated at lunchtime there are some outdoor tables in shade and some in the sun so you have options. No wait for a table on a Wednesday at 12:30pm. Enter from the hotel lobby (even though Google Maps shows the entrance on Embarcadero). You order at the counter and sit yourself. Food is a bit disappointing. I got the Beet Salad, and had steak added for $9 or $10 which was not worth it as it was a skewer with just three overcooked chewy pieces. The components of the salad were tasty but it was a tiny serving, barely an appetizer's worth. 3 stars. My colleague got the Ahi Tuna Bowl and it looked delicious, a good sized serving, but I tried a couple bites and the tuna was not very fresh at all. 2.5 stars. We came here as a big group for my friend's birthday and it was disappointing. The service was not good at all and one of our orders came all the way at the end after everyone else was already done and when it was time to go. The vegetarian options here were also a kitchen. The eggplant dish had no flavor and the falafel dish was hard to eat. The mocktail tasted bland as well. The fries and mushroom salad were decent. The Brussels sprouts were okay but could've been better. The food looks aesthetic but tastes below average. Everything is extremely expensive and the ambiance is not cute enough for these prices. Came with a group of 7 people for Mother's Day Brunch and to say it was a disappointment is an understatement. They were charging $120 pp for a buffet brunch where they were serving ALL of the food outside. So guess what? ALL OF THE FOOD WAS COLD! Yuck! On top of all of this we assumed the Mimosas were included in the price of $120pp and joke was on us! They weren't LOL . I had an omelette, some cold chicken and waffles, and freezing cold pancakes for $120. The only protein was the small pieces of chicken they placed on top of the cold waffles. Went here for a drink with coworkers after work and the space is very cute. We were looking for an outdoor space where we could enjoy the sun and the covered terrace was perfect, temperate, with fun couches to sit on and blankets to cuddle up with. It definitely felt like a place that people would use their corporate cards at because everything was pretty expensive, and unfortunately even though the drinks were good, they were not worth the steep price tag. You're definitely paying for the ambiance here. My coworker also ordered a glass of sparking water for himself, and was given an entire bottle with a single glass without realizing that he has ordered it which I thought was strange. We also had a bit of an issue with our check. They put two extra things on our check so we had to get it corrected. When the check came back the second time, I realized that a few more things were not the same price than on the menu. Our waitress then told us that those were the prices in the system and she couldn't change anything. If that is the case, they absolutely need to update their menus so people know what they are paying for. In the end though, she was very sweet and took something off of our tab which I absolutely did not expect so I really appreciated it. All in all an expensive place that didn't wow me, but they absolutely have to update their menu to avoid these issues. read more

I made slightly last minute reservations for this sleek restaurant and was pleasantly surprised to find multiple options available for date and time. The entrance to the restaurant isn't super clear, but right when you enter the hotel you greeted by the front desk concierge services in a friendly professional manner who then provide you to the restaurant on the right. Upon entering the restaurant, there is a front desk with the host, who then guides you to your seating dependent on whether you want indoor or outdoor seating. BTW, they allow dogs indoors and outdoors! :D (which is why I chose a spot since my friend was bringing her pooch.) The ambience is posh with its carefully curated decor in airy neutral colors surrounded by the greenery of real plants! The service is friendly and approachable, but professional. Well, the dishes are a bit small for their pricing, the taste is great. My friend and I shared the beet muhammara, watermelon salad, skuna bay salmon, and the straus ice cream. I also had the Ube Area cocktail. The beet muhammara was tasty with the soft warm pita break. The watermelon salad was spectacular, crisp and refreshing. The salmon entree's sides was a bit spicy but tasted amazingly savory while the salmon was the perfect level of cooked so it flaked off beautifully and softly. The swirl ice cream was a lot for one person so I'm glad we shared that too! Even the Ube cocktail wasn't overly aggressive with the alcohol and neither overly sweet, just perfect. You have to order at the counter and I ordered the harrisa chicken sandwich with fries and the mango smoothie and it was quite expensive. It came out to $45 for lunch. Since opening in July 2022, I've avoided Terrene like people with cooties. When it was Americano (Hotel Vitale), my friend set me up on the worst first date ever here. And, then we became frenemies. J/k! But, if anything, they picked a great place for HH because of the vibes with stunning waterfront views. Earlier this year, we (not with the first date person) were at the ferry building across the street and looking for a place for a drink...so out of convenience we ended up at Terrene. Now that they're under 1 Hotel, it's a huge improvement. (+) Mediterranean Cuisine using locally sourced ingredients with rooftop chef's garden. They even make their own honey with onsite beehives. The Za'atar Fries were so addictive! Think McD fries with an earthy tang. (+) Solid, well-balanced craft cocktails. (+) Extremely dog-friendly inside and out (pets stay for free at the hotel!) (+) Yappy Hour every 2nd Monday on the month with pup cocktails and complimentary housemade treats. Wish they had it later in the week tho. (+) Awesome hospitality. Shout out to Kayla and Marianna. I was in town for work and we had reservations here for a team meeting. The service was attentive throughout and the prices were reasonable for a group sharing. Despite being packed and a few holiday parties going on, the sound was not overbearing and service was quick. The food was fairly solid, but there were a few misses from my perspective. And my only gripe is that our server wrongully talked us in to overordering a bit and I hate wasting food. I don't expect a server to know how much we could all eat, but portion sizes were misstated. The drinks here are fantastic, the food is also very good, and a beautiful ambiance. But everything is very much overpriced for how much you are getting. We were a party of 3 women who spent $300 total. We each got two drinks and then split 4 different plates, yet I still walked away feeling very hungry. Portions are small and are not filling. The scallop dish only came with 3 scallops even thought it cost $39! Just way too overpriced for how much you are getting. The food tastes good but not worth it in my opinion. It was good but not particularly special - The scallops came served over a bed of beans, sugar snap peas and some greens. The beans were very filling. - Scallops (3) were well seasoned and cooked well. *PARKING* Street parking was not too difficult on a Friday afternoon. We had a good experience at Terrene, but I'd more likely come back for just drinks than for a full meal. Everything was tasty, but I still felt it was slightly overpriced. Had this spot bookmarked so I could visit with my dog since the hotel I saw is completely dog friendly! Since this place is inside of a 5 star hotel, I was surprised that it is a cafe. So when I was asking the staff for a table they seemed dismissive. Also the menu was different than what I found online. Brunch burger: B Looks amazing, presentation is great. Loved the thin double beef patties and bacon. The egg I ordered over easy, which may have been a mistake since it exploded on me. The bun I didn't care for, it was soft and I would prefer something more toasted. The bottom bun got soggy from the fat/meat juices. The lettuce and tomato were good and felt incredibly fresh. Fries tasted great with the feta and parsley on top. However, half the fries were crispy and half were soggy. Overall, the burger is pretty solid. For around $35 after tax and tip, I probably wouldn't order this again. read more

I am in love! Terrene is inside a beautiful hotel that we were staying in for my husbands birthday (1 hotel) We had such a wonderful time here with our pup in the outdoor dining space. We ordered the weekend brunch menu & there was lots of color & fresh grub galore. Highly recommend the baba ghanoush it was very fresh with charred eggplant on top! At this spot, you order at the register and then they bring the food to your table. ***NOTE: They have a full bar with craft cocktails, but the bar only opens at 2pm, so we couldn't order alcoholic drinks from the bar for lunch (which runs 11-2pm). The hotel is walking distance from the Ferry Building and has a great view of the water, as you sit amongst the aesthetically pleasing interior, lush with greenery. In terms of food, I tried the chicken sandwich and a hummus plate and both were lovely in presentation and flavors. Good flavor, well balanced, and a bit unique. The je ne sais quoi was our favorite and was light and refreshing. Napa dreaming was a bit heavier and sweeter but also delicious. Terrene in San Francisco feels like one of the city's hidden gems, definitely underrated. We originally came for breakfast (which ends at 11am) and had just missed it, so we stayed for lunch and were not disappointed The space is located within a hotel and has more of a causal service process where you order first, seat yourself and the food is brought out to your table via a number tag. We ordered the Harissa chicken bowl, a matcha latte with coconut milk, and an açaí smoothie. The chicken bowl was fantastic, super fresh, vibrant ingredients, perfectly grilled chicken, sweet onions and veggies, fluffy grains, and a flavorful sauce that brought everything together beautifully The matcha latte tasted like it was made with ceremonial grade matcha: smooth, rich, and not too sweet. The coconut milk complemented it perfectly without overpowering. The açaí smoothie was also a hit: fresh and refreshing The vibe of the place is stunning, it reminds me of the Public Hotel in NYC meets The LINE in LA. Minimal, modern, and thoughtfully designed. It's right by the Embarcadero, which makes it a great spot to start a walk along the waterfront (just be prepared for SF parking chaos) The prices are a bit on the higher end, but the quality and experience make it well worth it. 100/10 would come back, and finally try the breakfast! read more

We had a reservation for two around 7:30pm and we got seated promptly after. Since it was a weekday, the place was pretty empty. We got seated on a table inside. The interior is a vibe and very beautiful. It's very green inside which makes it look very classy. It's a really cute date spot right by embarcadero and I had no idea it was a stone throw away from the Ferry building! All the shareables and the food options were pretty well made. We ordered the green flatbread with pears, figs and arugula which was a good size and not super expensive either! Lamb sliders were okay but could have been better! Cauliflower was to die for. Service was fast and the servers were nice. I think it'll be a great spot to visit during the day with a group of friends or simple a date! When you go to a nice restaurant, you expect certain things such as good food, great service, clean bathrooms an above average experience. We cannot argue that the food was good, even great with the exception of the Terrene burger arriving without a toasted bun and the burger was cold. That kid of stuff happens. But the service, or lack of was less than professional at times and lacking overall. One expects a certain flow in how food is served and this place is not an exception, when they sell $26 burgers. Food was coming out fast and waiters just slapped plates on our table with no real communication, strategy or timeliness... waiters were not following up on drink orders or filling glasses. It just made the experience part poorly received. It was clear that our reservation, which was at 8:30pm, was slowing their staff down from leaving which seemed to priority as they were prioritizing closing down the restaurant and not on serving their guests. read more

The space is beautiful, the chairs are surprisingly comfortable, and there are always plenty of tables available. It is also great for conversations as it never gets too loud during the day (aka before 3pm). I also appreciate the fast service. You order up at the counter, take a table number, and they deliver your food/drinks to you. Food? 3/5. The breakfast is solid; I really enjoy their avocado toast. However, for having a healthy menu, the lunch items could certainly be cleaner. The salads/bowls tend to be heavier on sodium, and the protein add-ons (such as the chicken) can be quite greasy. It's not a dealbreaker for me, but I wouldn't want to eat here regularly. Also, be prepared to pay a premium for the food/drinks here - it is in 1 Hotel after all. read more
