    Beef carpaccio
    Sophia D.

Had dinner with a friend here and it was sooo good! It was a weekday night, we sat at the bar, it wasn't too busy, and we ordered A LOT of food but it felt like they were still rushing us to leave towards the end. Would've been five stars if we didn't feel that pressured to leave! The beef carpaccio with homemade chips was sooo good. The chips were the perfect vessel, super light and crispy! I definitely preferred the steak frites over the CA fried chicken, the steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were thin and crispy. The chicken was a tiny bit dry and I wish it came with some sort of dipping sauce. For the desserts, the churro donut was definitely the standout! It was a mix between a churro and a donut, very light and fluffy and I loved the ice cream and drizzle of chocolate on top. The ambiance is moody and they have a really nice private dining area upstairs!

    Branzino and Wagyu Bavette Steak

Pricey for what it is but busy nonetheless, Wayfare Tavern offers a menu of standard bistro fare in an elevated pub setting. Coming in for a special event, my favorite bites were the passed appetizers, which included burrata and fig jam tarts, tuna tartare, and steak crostini. For appetizers, the Roasted Button Mushroom Soup was a dark, clear broth poured over chopped vegetables; the Tavern Caesar was a classic salad of chopped romaine with anchovies, Parmesan, and croutons, all tossed in a creamy Caesar dressing; and on the side came an airy baked popover with salted butter. For our main dish, we had a duet of Branzino, a crispy skin-on fillet topped with a fennel gremolata and lemon agrumato (olive oil), and Wagyu Bavette Steak, cooked to a juicy medium rare and served over roasted hen of the woods mushrooms and potato puree. The sides included grilled asparagus and burrata whipped potatoes. Everything we had was simple but tasty and executed nicely. Finally for dessert, the Strawberry Cobbler was a skillet of biscuit batter baked with sliced strawberries, topped with a scoop of ice cream. The dessert wasn't too sweet, and I especially liked the crispy edges of the baked batter. Overall, the food here was good though nothing too outstanding, though the service was attentive and on point!

We had a most enjoyable dinner with a total of nine people last night. I will say the Hendricks gin and tonic that I ordered was not up to snuff. Can't be that hard to make a proper one. We ordered a couple bottles of wine which were decent. Presentation of the dishes were pretty good. The deviled egg was all right. I made the mistake of eating the pretzel only with the strawberry compote and not including the Brie. The popovers were truly good. Now that's something I can't recall if I ever had that before. They were light and warm with butter. The prime beef tartare I sampled but was unaware of what I was eating at the time. It was alright . We also had potato chips that were small in size and they were fine. For my main entrée I had the fried chicken. They really presented this nicely. You receive four pieces of chicken. The chicken was perfectly fried, hot and moist. I really prefer dark meat. This is probably the best fried chicken I've had in a really long time. It's quite difficult to find an establishment with truly good fried chicken. Kudos to the chef. I wanted veggies and we ordered some blistered snap peas. It was OK, but you really didn't get much of them. I sampled both the housemaid donuts and churro Brulé. The donut tasted like a doughnut. The churro Brulé I was a bit disappointed with as you really couldn't recognize there was actual true in this dessert. This restaurant is extremely popular and where we were seated was dimly lit. Some of my pictures did not turn out as I didn't hold the camera steady for a long enough period of time. The service was excellent here.

Our third visit and we will keep coming back! Service and ambience was on point. Food was prepared carefully and everything we had was delicious. (Not in picture were the baked macaroni and cheese and the burrata whipped potatoes.)

Service: 5 stars for our Server David and the numerous Server Assistants Food: 3.5 stars as the chicken did not taste as great as previous visits. Felt the pieces were drier than usual including the dark meat. Tavern Burger was not as memorable regarding plating. Prefer that it be plated on the wooden board. Made to order doughnuts were terrific but really miss the raspberry dipping sauce which used to be a standard for this dessert item. Thankfully, the Lemon flavored Cream Fraiche worked as a dip this time.

Food was solid though I didn't think the fried chicken was that much of a stand out. It was good but not the best fried chicken I have ever had. However, the steak exceeded my expectations. Warm popover bread to start was really good. The best part of dinner was the service - the waiter was so nice and checked in on us multiple times. Will be back!

Just popped in for a quick drinky drink, but had a great time during my short visit here. Walked in around 7:30, and this place was rockin! So many folks were in here and the bar was nearly full. I ended up getting a seat at the side bar facing the street. Not ideal, but sometimes beggars can't be choosers. Was greeted by the super nice waiter and ordered a Barbary Coast. I'm going to stop here to talk about how nice everyone in here was. From the hostess to the waitstaff. Everyone her was so friendly and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. I'm obsessed with great customer service, so I always notice when establishments go above and beyond. Ok Back to the Barbary Coast! It was splendid. Gin based and lemony. Ultra refreshing and best of all, served in a pretty glass. I loved it! By the time I was almost finished with my drink, a fresh popover arrived on my plate with some butter. I couldn't let it be lonely, so of course, I ordered another Barbary coast. Great little 45 minutes at Wayfare Tavern! Next time I'll try visiting earlier in the day or weekend to sit at the main bar. But ill definitely be back again!

Came because it's within walking distance of our hotel and a trusted friend recommended it. So glad we tried it, food was great but the service made it even more special. Very busy on a Monday night, clearly a popular spot for after work meals and business dinners. We could only get an outside table and one of the overhead heaters wasn't initially working but our server David got the kids situated and everyone blankets. Started with half dozen oysters and shoestring fries. Two orders of fried chicken and two orders of the cavatelli. Everything was stellar but the fresh popovers and fried chicken were the stars of the show. Fried chicken was almost a half chicken per serving, perfectly seasoned and fried. So good. A lovely gentleman named Ethan came by halfway through dinner and fixed one set of the heat lamps which made things much more comfortable. And we had several other personable staff checking on us throughout the meal. Thank you to David and Ethan for taking great care of us and being so lovely to our children as well. We will definitely be back.

I was excited to try Wayfare Tavern after hearing so much about it, but sadly it was a meh food experience overall. We came here for a weekday dinner, and it was bustling inside with a lot of people who looked like they'd also just come straight for work. We had a reservation for our party of 6, but our table was missing an entire setting and a few miscellaneous utensils. Not too big of a deal, they were clearly very busy. APPETIZERS & SIDES // ~ POPOVER: this was my first time trying a popover - it was pretty good. Crispy outside, airy inside. They served it with whipped unsalted butter, which was okay but would've been more satisfying if there had been salt on the side to add just a tiny bit of flavor. ~ DEVILED EGGS w/ Swedish mustard aioli, smoked trout roe, dill: these were decent, but $21 for six halves did not feel worth it. ~ BURRATA WHIPPED POTATOES w/ Yukon gold potatoes, smoked olive oil: sounded better on the menu than it tasted. ~ BAKED MACARONI & CHEESE w/ smoked olive oil, chives: also sounded better on the menu than it tasted. ~ ROASTED SQUASH: not on their usual menu I believe. Nothing special - just soft roasted green and yellow squash that felt like something I could've easily made at home. I wish we'd tried the Brussels sprout instead. MAIN // ~ THE TAVERN BURGER w/ proprietary grind, Marin brie, red onion marmalade, smoked bacon, brioche bun, with a fried egg added: my burger was pretty good for the first few bites - thick burger patty, tasty marmalade - but it quickly became too rich after that. I found myself wishing for some lettuce or more pickles to help balance out the heavy flavors. Others in my party tried the fried chicken, which they said was okay; it looked like quite a big portion of fried chicken.

Sooooo good! Wow, if I could give it 10 stars, I would! The food, the service, the music -- everything was fantastic!! My husband and I came here for our 5 year anniversary dinner. When we checked in at the front desk, they greeted and even told us happy anniversary, which was such a nice touch. David was our waiter and went above and beyond. Truly, he was amazing! So friendly and made such great conversation with us. We started with the charred green onion & salmon dip and mac and cheese. OH MY GOODNESS -- that salmon dip was OUT OF THIS WORLD. That was seriously my favorite part of the entire meal!! For our entrees, my husband got the cod and I got the pork chop. Whoooooooweeeee! So delicious. The cod was flavorful and moist and well cooked. He got it fried -- he does wish he got it grilled because the breading was a bit too crunchy. But the fish itself was delicious (I tried some) and the dandelion greens were so good too! So salty that we couldn't stop eating them. We even asked David how the heck they got them so flavorful! My pork chop was cooked perfectly and that sauce was the perfect flavor profile. It had a little bit of a sour back end which was amazingggg. The restaurant surprised us with orange creamsicle cupcakes for our anniversary which was so cute and nice! Even though we were stufffeeeddd from all the delicious food, we knew we wanted the donuts for our dessert. Soooo we ordered the donuts! And they did not disappoint! Highly recommend everything here! And if you get the donuts, you MUST dip them in the crème fraiche! YUMMMMMM! Thank you so much for making our anniversary so special!

This narrow, intimate restaurant feels like stepping into a cozy country house - dark wood, rich walls, and plush velvet seating set a dim, moody tone. The service was attentive without being intrusive, with tables cleared promptly and courses timed perfectly. The meal started with complimentary popovers that were crisp on the outside and soft inside. Everything I tried was full of flavor. The clam chowder was rich, creamy, peppery, and loaded with clams, and the cocktail shrimp were generously sized and very fresh. I couldn't finish everything, so they thoughtfully packaged my leftovers, stored them with the hostess, and gave me a claim stub to pick them up on the way out. A great touch that kept the table uncluttered for drinks and dessert. While the ambiance leans upscale, the overall vibe is relaxed and comfortable. I'll definitely be back to try their famous fried chicken.

Overall experience was really good and really good service, our server was on top of it. Went during restaurant week. We got the prime rib tartare which was good - chips were a little over powering to the tartare but still had really good flavor. Definitely mix it up with the yolk. Cesar salad was good, not the best I've had but good. It had a bit of a stronger anchovies flavor or something but overall not bad. Fried chick was good, classic. The dessert donut, definitely coming back for that. 10000%. Best donut I've ever had. Soft and fluffy and fresh.

I've come to Wayfare twice for restaurant week. The space is beautiful and I always appreciate the deal for people who may not otherwise be able to afford a nicer place like this. The popover roll is delicious, fluffy, and warm. I am a huge fan of their salad. The butter lettuce is crisp and fresh, and the dressing is creamy, bright, and herb forward. The citrus adds to the brightness and a little bit of sweetness, I'm not a big salad person but I could eat this every day. The chicken is fried nicely, crispy but juicy. I enjoyed the lemon on the side and the extra salt and spices on the side to sprinkle on top. I am not a fan of raised donuts, but Wayfare's donut is one of the best donuts of my life. It's always hot, fluffy, and light and comes with a bright berry sauce to cut through the sweetness of the donut.

I did my usual two bites and I was done and yes, I took the rest home with me. This is a great restaurant and definitely should be on your list of places to try!

Excellent people-watching seating outside in a well covered parklet. We stopped by just before 5pm…read moreon a Tuesday and were easily seated. Empty inside, but patio seating filled in. Have a small happy hour 3-5pm. Pros: - Food is decent. Burger was a strong 4/5 (though i asked for my onions grilled, and they were sadly raw and difficult to pull off). Salad with sunchokes and citrus was a nice bit of roughage, nice bitterness in the lettuces. - Banana bread 'grilled cheese' is an epiphany. Must try. - Cocktails were fun & IGworthy. - Vibes & location feel so perfect on a sunny afternoon. Cons: - 1 bathroom stall, can only imagine how rough this gets when during a busy dinner service. - Service was friendly, but often multiple asks for the same item, and long waits between check ins. Overall, a decent spot in an area flush with choice. Probably more of a 3.5 than a 4, but well round up here!
