Can't believe I'd never been to Prospect before! Was sooo tasty and had a fun, vibey atmosphere. I came here with a group, and it was perfect for us to lounge on the couches near the door. The dish I had was everything I could want in a pasta. I wish I could remember the name it looks like it's no longer on the menu unfortunately. I think it was a rigatoni with beef ragu and truffle. And we decided to give Prospect a try. Prospect was opened in 2010 from James Beard award-winning Chef Nancy Oakes, Chef Pam Mazzola and Kathy King. Located on the ground floor of the Infinity Towers, featuring contemporary California cuisine made from fresh and local ingredients. There is a dining room and a bar area, and it was nice to enjoy bar food and cocktails or wine for Happy Hour or after dinner. 2023 DuMOL Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley $28 Husband ordered the Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley, from the featured Sommelier Picks wine list. This Pinot is from DuMOL Winery, which crafts exceptional, highly sought-after wines. Sunset in the Bay $15 I ordered the Sunset in the Bay from the mocktail list. Made with spiritless tequila, giffard elderflower, dhos orange grapefruit, and lime. Love the taste of bitter and the special taste of tequila, which was one of the best mocktails I tried during pregnancy. Grilled Spanish Octopus $26 We got the grilled Spanish octopus as the appetizer. Beneath the octopus, it was paella negre with Monterey Bay squid, chorizo seco, green zebra tomato, and turmeric aioli. Highly recommended. Hokkaido Milk Bread $14 And we both love the Hokkaido milk bread with sesame seeds. It was paired with a special made of apricot and ube butter. The yellow and purple swirl of the butter was exceptional! Sweet but made a great pair with the milk bread. Prospect's Fried Chicken $35 For the main course, husband got the fried chicken. Came with three pieces of breast, thigh and wing. It was decorated with Pancetta braised Romanos, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, and chicken gravy. The crispy skin and juicy chicken meat was very nice. 2018 Romeo Cabernet Sauvignon $23 Husband got another glass of wine to pair with the main course. This Cab is an old vine cabernet from Napa Valley. Grilled Center Cut Berkshire Pork Chop $44 I got the pork chop cooked to medium well. On the bottom, there were heirloom polenta with summer greens, black mission figs. And it was spiced with cherry balsamic, prosciutto San Daniele, and pork jus. Prospector $18 Husband got another cocktail after we are done with the main course. This cocktail is a stronger after dinner drink which was made with Scotch, Blandy's madeira, Benedictine, and prospect bitters. Recently came here for a work dinner and was quite impressed. I haven't been here in years (pre-pandemic) but the quality and service was as great as I remember it. For appetizers we ordered the honeynut squash ravioli, kale salad, and side of the Hokkaido milk bread. For my entree I ordered the coastal chanterelles and crispy hen of the woods mushrooms with scallops. Everything was delicious! The cocktails I ordered (sorry couldn't remember which ones) were also really good as well. Many patrons seemed to have just gotten off work so a nice atmosphere for our work dinner as well. Went to prospect for the first time. There were not any specials except for their Friday steak and fry special. I am confused as to the cut of beef. I ordered New York strip and got what I know to be a bavette. The waiter who dropped the plate said Filet Mignon - size to me was petite filet, and the beans and Bernaise sauce was flat. Came here for an anniversary dinner and it seemed like a lot of work dinners in Rincon Hill, but it also definitely had a few couples too. The lights were dimmed and it gave off a date night vibe. Walking into the restaurant, it felt super upscale which I didn't expect and was so happy. We ordered some appetizers which were the burchata and scallops. burchata - I think you can never go wrong with it and I loved the veggies that came with it. Overall, it was yummy! I had a business dinner with a colleague from India who spends more than 250 days traveling between India, NYC, Dubai and San Francisco. He has a very sophisticated palate given his world travels. We met for a mid week dinner meeting at Prospect during early December where the restaurant was packed with locals and visiting guest during the festive holiday season. The restaurant was deck the halls with bright lights inside and out; a Christmas tree and other holiday decorations. Very warm setting to bring in the holidays. Perfect. We order a nice glass of red wine and whiskey. I asked our server Travis for an entree recommendation and he said his favorite was the scallops risotto, roasted carrot puree, French round carrots, parmesan cheese pinenut relish, mirepoix butter. They were a beautiful presentation and very well prepared, delicious and amble portions. My guest partner order a filet mignon, tamari braised cippolini's, chive & parmesan potato cake, roasted romanesco horseradish cream, au poivre sauce and he really enjoyed it but needed a "go box" due to the portions. For desserts we asked Travis again for his recommendation given his entrée were perfect! He suggested the Pumpkin cheesecake and his favorite the Affogato ice cream sandwich espresso ice cream, dark chocolate cocoa nib cookies, fudge sauce. Magnificent! Bravo! Went here for a work team dinner and we had a great time. The vibe inside is very elegant, and feels upscale. Service was wonderful; the staff we interacted with were very knowledgeable about the menu and great about giving us specific recommendations. They also have complimentary coat and bag check, which is perfect if you're coming from the office. The food was pricey but impressed me a lot! I enjoyed pretty much everything we ordered. My favorites were the hokkaido milk bread with the whipped plum berry butter (so soft and flavorful!), the northern halibut (a small portion but surprisingly super filling), the grilled pork chop (very tender), as well as the braised duck & pork meatballs. Would definitely recommend this spot for a nicer celebratory dinner or date! read more

Tried this place for the first time and I have some mixed feelings. The management and staff are awesome. Even the patrons here are great, but the food on the other hand seems to need a little help. Whenever I see "Fried Chicken" on the menu I'll come a running. Especially when the menu on the website says "Fried Chicken Friday". The "Fried Chicken" came out quick, but not very warm as well the sides. My expectations was what I saw on the previous pictures, but I think the hot sauce and honey should have been on the side as there was no crunch and the breast was boneless another disappointment. The guests sitting next to me who are regulars said that the way it was made before was much better after noticing the disappointment in my face. lol I didn't know I made that obvious. I will try Prospect again, but I will try the burger and the steak as the regulars advised me. read more

The fries are amazing and my favorite dish of the night! I visited Prospect with a group of 7 and we enjoyed it. The ambiance was great. Service was good overall, with some slight misses. I think our server was new. I had the risotto with seared scallops and fries. They were both done very well, but the fries were the star of the show for me. If spending close to $18 for this appetizer, one would hope to have more than 1.25-1.5 bites of the Burrata when shared. The duck was subtle, perhaps close to lacking flavor. It seemed a bit tough even though it was cooked properly temperature wise... maybe it was related to how the breast was cut or maybe we just got a duck that worked out too much in the open field ? The grilled octopus was delicious- a clear winner of the evening. In fact, dipping some of the duck into the octopus sauce made the duck fantastic! The Hokkaido milk bread was soft and airy- reminiscent of the Hawaiian sweet bread. We came here for a restaurant week reservation friday night at 7:30 PM. Parking wasn't too bad to find but it can be difficult since it's all street parking. The interior is extremely nice, definitely makes you feel like you are at a fancy restaurant (even though the attire is smart casual) We were seated immediately then the servers got us still water and took our orders for the drinks. We both didn't want to drink alcohol so we ordered some mocktails. I had the pineapple mocktail with coconut creamer and it was delicious. Amuse bouse: 5/5 This was house made potato chips with a smoked fish dip. The chips were nice and crunchy and the fish dip was exquisite, pleasantly salty with a good texture. Amazing Hamachi Crudo: 4/5 I like the foam around the fish and how it paired with the herb oil. Only complaints were on the mint and green almond toppings(too strong for me) and the hamachi tasted a bit fishy. Free bread: Halfway through we got a free loaf of bread and butter. Wasn't anything mind blowing but it tasted good and was welcomed. Steak: 4.5/5 The steak was cooked beautifully and the potatoes were made very well too. Only complaints were that the potatoes were too salty at some bites and i wish they had more sauce for the steak. Dessert: 5/5 I loved how the dessert all came together. It was presented very nicely, i liked the crisp of the meringue as well as the overall flavors meshing together. Accoutrements: Great way to end the night, our favorite was the chocolate bite. After years of living nearby, I finally visited Prospect for dinner with a friend... and I was glad I did! From start to finish, we had an excellent dining experience here. Reservations: It was easy for her to make a reservation online, and we were seated almost immediately after arriving. Granted, we were there for an early dinner since both of us had things to do later in the evening, but still... Ambiance: It got quite busy as "typical" dinner hours rolled around. Although the noise levels did climb, it was never too much and it was still easy for us to carry on a conversation, even across a broad table (we had one of those big booths, even though there were only two of us - but we appreciated the space). There were a lot of guests in business attire and there are a few reasons I can think of for this: close to financial district, APEC this week, and it seems like a well-visited restaurant for business dinners. I felt somewhat underdressed as a result, but it wasn't a big deal, especially in SF. Service: The servers (there were two - I think one of them was in training) were friendly and attentive, and able to answer questions and give recs with ease. They checked in regularly to see how things were going and to inquire if there's anything else we wanted, but they weren't pushy about it. Food: We shared the Hokkaido milk bread (the first thing to catch my eye on the sharing menu) - it was quite sizable for 2 people, had good texture, and was tasty. We also shared the squash blossom (it's on the in-person menu but not their online menu) - it had interesting textures and a lot of flavour packed in. For my entree, I ordered the risotto (didn't add the scallops so I kept it vegetarian) - it was sooo good and my favourite dish of the evening. Was too full to have a dessert, but I did have one of their cocktails with espresso to finish. The woman I flagged down was excellent took our orders for apps and drinks and told us about menu when we had questions. Apps come drinks come and nobody asks us about more drinks and we again have to flag a different person down???? We end up ordering mains from yet another waiter we asked for help from. Now and then our head waiter if you can call him that would come by. We spent our main course without much to drink as it took forever to get two glasses of wine and sparking out, we had ordered them as our mains came out. We were 75% done with meals when drinks appeared. Table cleared and we sat and sat until I said please may we order desert. This place has awesome food awesome drinks and a good as place but we were sat next to kitchen so we got first hand at the bustling of other waiters but we were the forgotten table of the evening.My husband was so annoyed and commented this would not have happened had we went where he wanted to go. Prospect has a very corporate vibe and it seems most people come here for business dinners and events. I met up with my friend here since we both live close by, but the overall experience was just okay. We shared a pasta dish, a couple of starters, and tried their zero-proof drinks. Everything was decent but nothing stood out as memorable. I wouldn't recommend coming here for a date or any occasion outside of a professional setting - there are far better options for that. read more

First time dining at Prospect for an office holiday dinner party. The meal was enjoyable, however service was not up the same high standard as the food. It may have been the fact that we had a large party, or the fact that there were multiple other large parties happening concurrently, or the fact that it was a busy Friday night. Servers seemed disorganized, unprepared, and had to be reminded countless times about our drinks or to refill of water. We ordered the La Bonita for drinks and started off with the bread which was so warm and soft, pairing well with the berry butter. We celebrated our 3-anniversary at Prospect and it was a special occasion and experience. Seated exactly at our 7p reservation time; in a nice location; able to sit next to each other, rather than across from each other; and they even had a thoughtful anniversary card waiting for us at our table. Very nice touch! Prospect is a well designed dining room, has a trendy decor, plus polite and useful staff. Tito's Lemon-drop for her, Tito's dry martini with olives for him (plus a Pilsner draft to save the server some steps in the future). Drinks arrived in a timely manner--although Tito's with a twist instead of olives arrived. Not a problem (Hi-Dive 45 minutes earlier satisfied the olive desire). She had the pork chop. He had the steak. We both shared. The presentation of both entrees was exquisite. Both cooked to perfection. I've long complained it's hard to get a nice steak in SF that isn't at HOPR or Harris (Bobo's still open? I know Izzy's is coming back soon). Stop your search, Prospect has a wonder beef filet mignon (at an appropriate price). I believe they do Prime Rib on Friday's. Our sides were broccoli & the French fries. The broccolini was a delight with a perfect amount of cheese and a nice sized portion for two people. This brings me to the fries--I made the mistake of reading previous reviews of Prospect. Undoubtedly a very popular item, which are steak fries served with mayo. One reviewer went as far to proclaim the fries "the best ever." Another wrote "best part of the meal." So how could we resist ordering the fries? Silly us--one simple fact we overlooked: most people are stupid (see '16/'24 Presidential General Election results). Duck breast? Steak? Risotto? Pork chop options and the fries were your favorite of the night? Save the fries for the bar--they were fine but nothing Ori-Ida can't achieve in your oven at home. No biggie, but if looking for complex carbs, I would get the fancy bread roll and compound butter. It looked great! One scoop of salted Carmel ice cream with a pair of soft chocolate cookies was the coda. Vanilla ice cream next time. I'd be off-brand if I didn't complain the SF Healthcare surcharge. $12 added to my bill. Wish I didn't noticed before I tipped 22%. Such as life. Great experience! Took us to a table where the waiter and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent. 5 stars. Everything was tasty and as advertised. I have to make comment about the sommelier. He was special. We ordered a bottle that was a little pricey and we started taking about the variety of wine. He came back later and shared a glass of another wine. Asked me what I thought. I said I liked it better but it had to be more expensive. Turns out it was half the price. Once again we weren't disappointed having our Christmas Eve dinner at Prospect.  We started with some fresh Spicy Halibut Ceviche and some Prospect Fries, which taste and feel like creamy mashed potatoes inside each fry.  Their great drink menu had some nice champagnes and drinks that we chose.  The Risotto topped with sea scallops was once again delicious and the Halibut was fresh and flakey and seared to perfection.  In the spirit of Christmas, we tried most of the desserts on the menu.  What a night!  Thank you Prospect! read more

I had a wonderful Birthday experience today!! (04/05) and I would go back to this restaurant. I think where a lot of the disconnection between the reviews and the overall experience lies in the expectations set by guests. Some were complaining of not enough formal service while others were complaining it was too formal. Or like women coming inwearing athlesuire attire. It's quite literally located next to the Marina, what could you possibly expect? They serve a variety of different people. The ambiance was nice and the music was great. It really fit the atmosphere and made the overall vibe really nice. Everything was very clean which I appreciate. The server(s) were very knowledgeable in wine and even had a Sommelier which was nice. When it comes to the food, it was like a mix of really good and subpar. We started out with the appetizers were well done. For our entrees, I got the scallops and my partner got the filet mignon. I think there needs to be clarification when it comes to the size of the cut. There was no initial expectation, but it was just small. It was plated beautifully but there were quite literally 2 potatoes. And there was no seasoning on the meat which made it tough, not very tender, and took away from the dish. The scallops were really good and I would recommend that to anyone interested in a seafood dish there. Moreover, everything was plated very nicely. I went with a work group for dinner so we were able to try a lot of different cocktails, appetizers, and entrées. Everything we tasted was really spectacular to be honest. Everyone was super pleased with their meals and sampled each other's. The service was also top-notch, we just ordered pretty much everything they recommended and it was spot on. read more

Prospect is such a treat. It's a beautiful, open, contemporary space inside, but you still feel cozy at a table. The bar up near the door is a fun place for a bite and a drink with some people-watching after work - but if you eat a single plate here you'll be back for a full meal. The dinner here is just outstanding. The flavors on the plate all sing together with a kind of perfection exceeding what I'd ever expect at this price point. This would be an awesome venue for a romantic Friday date...but it's also our favorite place to get a couple small plates before tabletop on a weekday. The folks working here are always so friendly, and the service is fine-dining tier - all those little touches, having the right pacing for apps, mains, and the dessert menu, etc - the stuff you don't expect but do appreciate.
