Ambiance: [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good for a date night. There's inside and outside seating, but we chose inside. Even if it's nice outside, dinner time is when the wind tunnels blow through SF and I wouldn't want my food getting cold.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's pretty dimly lit inside with plenty of couch-like booth seating, as well as regular tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The noise levels were pretty standard.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bathrooms are hidden behind a curtain.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service: This is where I docked a star. The server we had was so unfriendly. He was trying to rush us to make a decision about food and when we asked him about certain items, he didn't really describe the items at all. He just reiterated the menu, as if we're supposed to know what that meant. We asked about the Tagine and had no idea what it was and he just repeated tagine, which, wasn't helpful at all. We had to keep asking for water because they didn't have someone coming by with water, and when we did, it was like we were asking for the moon. It was so much trouble. Food: Trio of Spreads - very flavorful and served with pita bread. There wasn't enough bread for all the dips, but we basically used other dishes we had to dip. I wanted to clear everything and lick the bowls. Spanish Octopus - one single tentacle, charred and perfectly cooked, however for $26, would I order this again? Likely not. I thought it would be at least two, or a pretty sizeable one. The flavors balanced well, as well as the textures. Spring Lamb Shank Tagine - this came in a closed ceramic cone, which they opened and presented to us very quickly. The lamb was tender and pulled apart immediately with a fork and the meat was so juicy. The surrounding root vegetables were also tender to the bite and refreshing paired well with the heavy lamb taste. TL;DR - Inside seating is nice and not windy. Server was rude and you don't get good water service. Food is tasty. Overall would recommend.
Food was absolutely delicious! Appetizers were very tasty, especially the spicy beef dumplings and the cigars. Kebabs were the only one that was alright. Entrees were still very good too, especially the duck, but the apps were preferred. Service was solid, staff were friendly and helpful in helping us choose the right dishes. Date of Visit: 6/3/2026 Barcha is a Mediterranean Restaurant located on near Market Street and on Fremont Street. It was established by chef Kais Bouzidi, with French background. He was also behind the other Mediterranean restaurant Sens and the French restaurant Bon Delire. Marbella $18 I ordered the cocktail made with French vodka infused with basil, elderflower, pressed grapefruit, lemon. Quite refresing. Spanish Sangria $15 One of my friend ordered the sangria with Spanish merlot, brandy, herbed Spanish liqueur, seasonal citrus. Barcha's Hummus $16 We got the hummus recommended by the waitress. On top of the thick and creamy hummus, there were Moroccan carrot salad, snap peas, mint, and on another plate there was a good amount of za'atar flatbread. Fattoush $18 The salad was good too! Romaine, seasonal vegetables, pita strips, mint, smoked feta, sumac, and dressed with lemon vinaigrette. Charcoal Grilled Chicken Kebab $34 The main course of the chicken kebab was great. The chicken was tendered and juicy, at the bottom there was tahini yogurt, aji panca, mujadara, cilantro, and peperonata.
If you're planning to come here for lunch or dinner, book a reservation in advance. This place is surrounded by offices and conference spaces so it gets busy fast. The service was excellent. Our waiter checked in on us regularly, kept our waters filled and was happy to answer questions. Food also came out quickly, around 15 minutes after ordering which was impressive given how full the restaurant was. We started with the spiced beef dumplings and shrimp skewers for appetizers and both were really good. Fair warning on the skewers though, they have a spicy kick so keep that in mind if you are sensitive to heat. For my main I went with the green goddess salad and loved it. The dressing really made the dish. It is on the pricier side, but the food and service back it up. The spiced beef dumplings and Moroccan cigars are a must have for appetizers when you come here. Then the entree, steak kebab was cooked very well with juicy flavor. Food is amazing as well as the drinks which I forgot what they were because I was feeling a little buzzed after a few. The place is a little dark so it sets a nice romantic feel to it.
Came here on a weekday evening and this place was pretty full. We had a reservation and were able to get our table when our party of 3 was here. Overall, the food was just ok. I ordered a veggie hummus plate and was surprised at how little hummus and vegetables there were. For over $30, I would have expected more. I also ordered a mocktail, which was fine, and the baklava. The baklava wasn't event crispy like I'm used to. I was actually pretty disappointed because for over $80 I wasn't full or satisfied with the food. Everything was just okay. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was loud and a little crowded and not what I was expecting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not sure I would return. The servers were difficult to flag down as well.
The epitome of a five star experience. Not only are you transported by the interior design, but the food will portal you to another world. We arrived during happy hour and nearly sampled the entire happy hour menu. Of the outstanding dishes, two stood above the others, the short rib skewer and the original hummus plate. The hummus plate was a taste of absolute mastery and the sauce for the short rib skewer was nothing shy of perfection. If not for the hummus being so good, the pita would simply exist to help you sop up that sauce. On top of the excellent food, the service was extraordinary. Prompt and attentive and exuding kindness; from the head chef to the runners, those that work there are devoted to providing an experience of fine and comfortable dining. I also want to say a special thanks to the head chef for making my young son's evening. Not only did you see our needs but you took it upon yourself to see to those needs met before we even asked. When bringing your child out to a fine restaurant like Barcha, one feels worried that the atmosphere will not be welcoming to the sensitivity of your young child. You made certain that this wasn't the case for us. I've said enough--Barcha is what makes five stars shine.
Solid Mediterranean food in the Financial District. Yes, it's mainly people on business trips and business meetings, but it's still an (elevated) vibe. Octopus is delicious, as is their Trio of Spreads (D). Fish is fresh. Service was very attentive. I'll be back!
I've been to Barcha for dinner about two years ago and my team and I all shared a bunch of tapas. It was a positive experience and everything we ate was delicious. But my visit recently left me a bit disappointed. I tried the Persian Saffron Rice with chicken shawarma and it was delicious! It tasted fresh and the yogurt tahini blended really well with the protein and veggies. But the portion was quite small and for $31 for a rice plate, I was expecting a bit more. There was a small amount of chicken and honestly I was at least expecting more rice. The service was great though, my server was attentive and checked in on us despite the restaurant getting busy during the lunch hour on a Wednesday. It's a really nice spot overall either for a date night or lunch with coworkers but I wish for the higher price points that the portion sizes were just a bit bigger.
We decided to host our Office Holiday Party at Barcha and it was a great experience. From the very beginning, Sarah the event coordinator was very communicative and answered all our questions and helped make the planning super easy. We originally were booked for the front patio, but since it was raining, they moved us inside to the Medina Space, which was a cute semi private area. But since they blocked it off, it felt very private. We ordered 5 different appetizers: roasted Brussels sprouts, beef dumplings, Morrocan cigars, chicken and speck ham croquette, and hummus with Turkish flatbreads. We had the fattoush salad as one of our four courses. For entrees, we ordered 4 to share family style: rack of lamb, seared prime rib steak, vegan kofta lamb, and falafel plate. And for dessert, we had the Meyer Lemon Meringue Tart. Overall, our experience here was amazing. The service was top notch. Everyone was so accommodating to our needs. The food was really good too! The standout for me was the rack of lamb and the vegan lamb kofta. The rack of lamb was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The vegan lamb kofta was a surprise. If you didn't know it was vegan, you wouldn't be able to tell. It had the texture of sausage and flavor was just so good. We highly recommend this place if you're looking for some amazing food and service.

I had a really good experience here. It's not always easy to find Middle Eastern food that feels authentic, but this place delivered. We ordered the Trio Spread Meze and the beef dumplings to start. The dumplings were especially flavorful and definitely worth ordering. For our mains, we shared the Tahdig Fideua and the kebab. Every dish was well prepared, and the Garden Fideua was the standout for me. The only thing that didn't wow us was the dessert. It was fine, but not nearly as memorable as the savory dishes. The restaurant was packed, so I highly recommend making a reservation. The staff was welcoming and attentive throughout the meal. Went here for a team lunch on a Tuesday! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful restaurant with plentiful indoor and outdoor seating. Can't beat sitting outdoors on a nice sunny day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food 7/10 We ordered a lot as a team and shared everything. My favorites were the peach with grilled haloumi, the Barcha Hummus and the spiced dumplings! I wouldn't order the chicken shawarma again. It was pretty dry and flavorless. The tuna tostada was...interesting. A little fishy and quite messy to eat, it was basically a huge chip the size of a cutting board with tubs, sauce, veggies on top. But unfortunately it was difficult to share as everything you tried to cut off a portion, the chip would crumble into small bits. The baklava and soft serve were so so good. If I wasn't on a diet I would've eaten more! Service 9/10 Food came out quick and servers were responsive and attentive! Only problem we had was that they forgot to put our order of falafel in, which they happily removed from the bill at the end. This place is phenomenal. I came here 2x in one week. The first time was Monday and I came with a friend. We got beets, croquettes, spicy beef dumplings, octopus, and barcha hummus. The croquettes literally surprised me because they were so good. I had no idea what was about to hit me. The honey on top was unique and made it all work so well. The spicy beef dumplings again shocked me because it was so good. It's perfection. Octopus was a little tough especially at the end where it's thinner. The hummus was not special either. The second time I came here I got croquettes, beef dumplings, cigars, chicken kebab, and trio dip. The chicken kebab was amazing. Super tender and the "rice" they served it with was also amazing. The cigars were really good too even though I tend to not like lamb. I would definitely come back here at least once every time I'm in town. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Fun Mediterranean deco and vibe to the space makes it very welcoming and comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As always Tapas style wins the day for me, Mediterranean themed food with absolutely amazing flavors and top notch staff. The Moroccan Cigars and the Trio of Spreads were excellent, but the absolute winner for the evening was the Persian Tahdig (duck leg) was over the top! read more

Made a reservation for a team lunch in the morning and there was availability for the same day for 7. We were seated outside in a covered area where there are heat lamps so it was a great outdoor spot while not being cold. Ordered: Classic Hummus - it's what I expected, great as a shared appetizer Barcha Hummus - came with halloumi and beets, a nice twist on a classic hummus. A little sweeter with the beets and a bit of a bite with the halloumi. Delicious, ordering this again! Persian Saffron Rice with Lamb & Beef Shawarma - the rice didn't taste super saffrony, and I thought it could use a little more flavor but when mixed with the shawarma it was fine since the shawarma was plenty flavored. Overall liked it, though I would try something else next time. Pistachio Tiramisu - delicious, but didn't taste a lot of pistachio, nice to have a little crunch but still felt more like a classic tiramisu. Great team lunch spot- would come back. It had been years since I've been to Barcha, but I went back relatively recently for a work dinner. This was actually my first time here for dinner since I've only come for lunch before, and I had forgotten how beautiful the decor is inside, especially at night. Barcha definitely draws an after-work crowd (it is in FiDi, after all). It was already busy when we arrived and it just got busier from there. Good thing we had a reservation since we needed several tables put together. We shared several appetizers and desserts and everyone ordered their own drink/main. The dishes we ordered included the trio of spreads, Moroccan cigars, falafel, beets, blistered peppers, Persian tahdig (so good!), and the pistachio tiramisu. The prices feel in line with this area of SF. One downside: someone in our group was vegetarian and the main options for them felt pretty limited. Overall, it was a good experience -- a nice dinner in a convenient location -- though the crowd and energy definitely felt very "work-y." read more

Came here with a reservation for 9 on a Wednesday night at 6:30pm. Whole group did not need to be present to be seated. Food was amazing! For big groups I recommend ordering multiple of the same dishes so everyone has a taste instead of what we did, which was order one of everything. I personally really liked the Halloumi Cheese and Moraccan Cigar apps, and my favorite entree was the Persian Tahdig. For dessert hands down the best one was the Pistachio Tiramisu. We all had a great time, would def recommend a visit! read more

I really liked this dish. It was vegan and so good and the kebabs were so yummmm, esp with the broccoli and tomato. I really liked it. The restaurant is a bit in a pricier side. The derive was great, very attentive and kind people. We also tried their Barcha Hummus and the normal hummus and even that was really nice. Overall a good experience. The ambiance was great as well, we went in a sunny day and sat outside. read more

Went during lunch on a Wednesday and the place was popping. Lots of people coming and going since it's opening time at 11:30am. Was super busy. The restaurant itself was kind of tightly spaced inside. Hard to walk around with the servers also buzzing about. That being said the decor is nice. The lighting could be brighter but wasn't that must of an issue for me. The service was ok. I think our server was sooooo busy we didn't quite get water refills till the end of our meal. But once we ordered the food it came out pretty fast. The food was delicious. The Lamb cigars (basically their version of lumpia) had tender lamb meat paired with a tamarind sweet and sour sauce. Was very good. Their grain salad with added avocado was all delish. The vinaigrette was not over powering at all. I enjoyed me time here and would definitely come back! read more
Came here for a team dinner during a work conference and absolutely loved the vibe of this place. It's giving moody and intimate yet is large enough to accomodate our party of 11. We love sharing so we got a bunch of tapas and small plates to share. I got to try the spiced beef dumplings, moroccan cigars, crispy falafels, spanish octopus, trio spread (labneh, baba ghanoush, muhammara, bazlama), rack of lamb, and olive oil cake. I feel like we got a really good spread to try a little bit of everything that makes this spot unique. My personal favorite had to be the spiced beef dumplings. They were so flavorful and delicious, I probably could have had 20. The trio spread was also great for sharing and each of them had distinguished unique flavors. The staff here is amazing and super kind! I had asked about a cocktail that would be more on the sweeter side and they recommended the Saturn which was perfect! We visited Barcha for my friend's birthday dinner, having made a reservation in advance. The interior had a nice ambiance, with large Turkish lamps and a good-looking bar. For drinks, I got a glass of the Kalecik Karasi wine, which was awesome. I don't usually go for lighter reds, but this one was truly fantastic. For food, we decided to order a bunch of the mezze to share between the 7 of us. We got the Spiced Beef Dumplings (Manti), Moroccan Cigars, Salmon Tartare, Halloumi Cheese, Barcha's Hummus, Crispy Falafel, Blistered Peppers, and Trio of Spreads. All the food was top-notch, but some items definitely stood out. The Spiced Beef Dumplings were my ultimate favorite - I've had Manti before, but the flavor of these was phenomenal. The Moroccan Cigars took second place for me, and we ended up ordering second servings of both items. We also ordered another round of Halloumi Cheese (always so good) and Salmon Tartare (this one wasn't anything special, the serving size was just small). Our server was good about making sure the mezze came out with the proper number of items, since they typically come in sets of four. For dessert, my friend got the the Vanilla Soft-Serve (they brought it out with a candle for her birthday) and some of us shared the Barcha Napoleon. The Napoleon was nothing like I expected. I grew up with Napoleon being a slice of cake, but this one was deconstructed and had pistachio, raspberry, and chocolate flavors. The portion size was tiny, and we weren't crazy about either of the desserts. Service was very professional (though not the fastest) and pricing was on the higher end. Overall, a great dinner for a special occasion, but I would have dessert elsewhere! read more

Solid restaurant if you're looking for a spot to hit your Mediterranean cuisine craving and you're wandering around East Cut. The stand out dish here is definitely the Persian Tahdig! The rice is so buttery and crispy and pairs perfectly with the tender and moist duck. The only sad part is that the portions are fairly small here -- but I guess that's expected for a restaurant nestled in downtown. The service was a bit strange too. We had to remind our wait staff that we wanted to order more bread for our trio spread multiple times, and our main waiter said the Octopus dish was sold out (but proceeded to bring the dish to our table and charged us for it anyway...weird). All in all, definitely a place to check out if you're in downtown San Francisco. read more

My boyfriend took me to Barcha for Valentines Day and I am so ready to go back! We are vegetarian and left full and satisfied. Appetizers: Fattoush salad, Hummus with Halloumi, Falafel- wow! Salad was fresh and the hummus was paired well the beets. Halloumi was a little chalky but good taste. Falafel was soft and crunchy. Main: Vegan Lamb Kofta- WOW!! the kofta was nutty and toasty, and broccoli was succulent and juicy. Dessert: Pistachio tiramisu- one of the best tiramisu I have tried. Pistachio was a nice touch. Drinks: lychee martini and Spanish sangria- martini was out of the world delicious. Super light. Service was slow - it took 30 minutes for our dessert to come out after we ordered when we finished the main. Drinks took a while to come out too. Maybe my palette is just not very sophisticated but I thought this place was....just alright. I went for a work dinner, this is a bit of a pricey restaurant I probably wouldn't go to on a regular day, but hey I wasn't paying. Reservation was at 6 on a Thursday night, we got sat towards the back of the restaurant. It was packed! We were a group of 6 and decided to order multiple appetizers and plates to share amongst us. The outstanding dishes were the Moroccan cigars and these dumplings. I got a mocktail that was really good. Overall the food was good, just didn't blow me away. The food at Barsha was genuinely good, and the ambience was really nice. Unfortunately, our experience was significantly impacted by the service. Food was delicious! We basically ordered half of the menu. Heads up, portions are smaller here but super worth it. We ordered- appetizers: trio of spread 5/5 & barcha hummus 4/5 & spiced beef dumplings 5/5, crispy falafel 2/5 (not much flavor but very crispy!), lamb polpettini 3/5 (great flavor not gaimy but rather small for $17) entrees: chicken kabab 6/5 (ordered twice! yummy rice and yummy charred chicken, seafood tangine 3/5 (also super small only had one piece of shrimp, clam and a small filet of fish for $42..) For 6 people our bill came out to $320. Our party of six was very disappointed with our server. He came across as having a lot of attitude and did not seem happy to serve us at all. There was a clear lack of warmth or attentiveness throughout the meal. The most disappointing moment was when we mentioned that it was one of our guest's birthday. His response was simply "okay?" in a very dismissive, almost and why does that matter? tone. When I followed up by asking if the restaurant does anything special to celebrate, he replied "hmm idk." He did eventually come back with a cake, which we appreciated. However, when I asked him to record us singing happy birthday. He took the phone, we sang happy birthday, and we I received the phone back. He didn't record at all....especially given that it was a birthday celebration?! I really wish we had gotten his name; he was a younger guy with a beard. Overall, the food and atmosphere were great, but the service left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. With better service, this could have been a much more enjoyable experience! read more

Really enjoyed Barcha. The only thing is the time was it was a bit busy so food was taking some time to take out. Also the octopus was a small portion for $26. It should've had two pieces to share. The beef dumplings were delicious. Also the shrimp skewer were to die for I also enjoyed my steak with chimichurri and roasted root vegetables. The drinks were also top-notch, including my sangria picture, which was unforgettable should come here if you're looking for a trendy spot in SF and are ready to dish out some serious Dinero. read more

Been going to Barcha for 11 years now. First of all excellent food, really captures the best parts of Turkish / Persian cuisine and the menu has evolved beautifully over the years. We love the food so much we hosted our wedding dinner here and every single dish was a hit with our guests, so much so that the first batch of Moroccan cigars ran out in minutes even though we ordered a hundred of them :) And the duck tahdig was just out of this world. Best of all, the ambiance is so beautiful at night, it felt an upscale European outdoor dinner secluded in the city. It was sooo magical and so unexpected at the heart of SF. My friend and I came to this restaurant on a whim because we wanted to find a place that was conveniently open at 7:00 PM within the financial district and offered Mediterranean food because it was on the healthier side. The ambience was okay when you walked into the restaurant. It actually had really cute lighting and a lot of seats. We also noticed that there were tables and chairs located outside if you prefer that, but it's a bit chilly at night. Our server was really nice. He was named Leon and came to us multiple times to replace our forks, knives, and spoons and also our cloth napkins. The main reason I gave the restaurant three stars was because the food was actually really expensive. For two people, we ordered three different appetizers (two of them were on the smaller side) plus two main entrees, and it came out to $150 excluding tip. So we had to add another $30 between us, so the total meal came out to $180 between two people. The duck leg dish, which tasted really good and came with rice, costed $39. It was one of the more popular main entrees. While the taste was really good, I thought the price was still pretty high. Their chickpea hummus tasted really good, and the flatbread was extremely tasty. I also really like the salad that they have, but I would be mindful of how you order because a lot of their appetizers are on the smaller portions. The shrimp skewers dish that they have was pretty pricey, and we thought it would be enough to fill up two people, but we were really thankful that we actually had other entrees. Serving size definitely runs a little bit small at this restaurant. A lot of people there seem to be working in groups or sponsored by a company lunch or dinner. And I would definitely recommend next time having someone else foot the bill. But overall, if you're not paying a really high bill, it's a good place to be. read more
