Review for AYCE Yakitori event on select Saturdays (summer only?): Host was so professional and kind. Answers phone quickly when I had questions leading up to my reservation. Yes there's validated discounted parking. Yes you can bring babies. They have high chairs. Though May be Smokey and music loud for baby. On the day, Baby was ok thankfully and was having lots of fun Skewers were good! Wish there are more non meat options like more vegetables or salad choices. Because meat is heavy and you want to balance it out some more. Favorites: pork belly, mushrooms, shrimp. Short rib ran out, after first round no more was made. So go early and not a 3:30pm reservation like me. Last call was 4:45 where whatever's made is what's left and no more is made. Closes up at 5pm. Final bill includes a bunch of mandatory fees: total $68 per person (20% gratuity regardless of party size, 2% opentable fee, 6% sf mandate fee). All prepaid at the time of reservation, no refunds. Must be booked on opentable, I asked if I can reserve directly and was directed to opentable. It's the only way. Hard to get out of booth if you're seated right in middle of your group. Would appreciate if the finished plates were cleared a bit more frequent pace DJ Music, relaxed vibe, Good experience! read more

We went to the bar to have a drink before dinner and the drink recommendations from the bartender were excellent. The bad experience started after we were seated for dinner. The waitstaff were nice but service was sooo slow; we were seated for 30 mins before our order was taken and another 30 mins for the food to come (and we had reservations). I'm not sure if they forgot about our food? But it wasn't very busy, maybe about 1/2 the seating area was occupied. Food was passable but expensive for quality and flavor. The mussels were good but my friend did not like the roasted chicken at all. Probably won't be going back for food but the bar area is nice and drinks were great. read more

Stayed at the Jay and had the opportunity to try their HH and breakfast. HH: Tried a variety of their skewers and chicken nuggets. Overall, tastes were good, but not particularly special. Since the value is not outstanding, would only come here if staying at the hotel. Breakfast: Yogurt and granola: solid and tastes as expected Açaí bowl: A bit disappointing as it was much more liquidy than what it should be. Was almost the consistency of a smoothie. Would not recommend. The third floor: Solid and substantial. Would recommend! Ambience in the lounge is chill and there is a nice outdoor space. read more

A heartfelt thank you to the staff of The Third Floor for helping me organize our company offsite. Zoe was incredibly helpful and responsive within a short timeframe. From changes in the menu to headcount, she was so receptive and gave great recommendations. Everyone was thrilled with the venue and food selection. Everything served was delicious and well appreciated. My personal favorite were the raw items- the beef tartare, sushi, and oysters were divine. The beef tartare had such a thoughtful presentation, as it was served with Asian pear upon a delicate rice cracker. I also loved the french fries and housemade potato chips that were ordered! The truffled ham and cheese croquettes had a delightful creamy spice to them due to the harissa inside them, it was so savory with a layered flavor to them. I also loved the chicken tsukune, everything was amazing to lay our eyes on and to eat. I think my very minor issue would be that I ordered non-alcoholic beverage packages for my entire party and alcoholic beverages for a few, and I would say that the selection could be a bit more expansive and also elaborate upon what beverages there are to choose from. An inclusive cocktail package would be fantastic. I would recommend this location for anyone looking to host a corporate event nearby Fidi. read more

Date of Visit: 4/10/2026 The Third Floor located at the Jay Hotel in the FiDi area of San Francisco, is presented by Omakase Restaurant Group, offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. We visited on a Friday for lunch, and we made a reservation beforehand. We were greeted by the waiter and were seated right away. Right outside of the dining area there were sofa and lounge area, which was a very comfortable setting for having a drink. The dining area was spacious and comfy too. Espresso Martini $16 I got the espresso martini which was made with Ketel One Vodka, freshly made espresso, and Demerara. Love the creamy and foamy texture of the espresso martini. Potato Leek Croquettes $14 Four pieces of the potato leek croquettes with herbed creme fraiche on the side. Roasted Beets $18 We ordered a salad with beets, mixed greens, whipped goat cheese, candied pecans, and blood orange. Croque Madam $28 The croque madam with emmental, spicy capicola, honey mustard, and egg on top with grilled asparagus as our chosen side. Morel Mushroom Agnolotti $27 We also got the morel mushroom agnolotti with Parmesan mousse, English peas, and ricotta cheese. read more

Came here for the weekend AYCE yakitori and it was such a good experience! The ambiance was fantastic and the food was all really good! I saw the AYCE a few times on instagram, and was thrilled to see it was happening on a weekend that I happened to be staying in the city. It started out only being every other weekend, but when we were in they said it had become so popular that they were doing it every weekend while the weather was nice. For AYCE skewers and sides it was $57, which included tax and gratuity. Drinks were not included, but the bar was open and you could order cocktails, sake, and wine. The yakitori was buffet style, but for drinks (aside from water) the servers came out and took your order. There were six different skewer options - chicken meatballs, chicken thighs, short rib, pork belly, mushroom, and shrimp. I got all on my first round, then picked my favorites for the next visits to the food table. All skewers were good, but my favorites were the chicken thigh, pork belly, and beef short rib. I got sides on my first visit to the table too, but skipped them the next visits because I wanted more room for the meats. Favorite of the sides was the seaweed salad. I wished I hadn't gotten full so quickly because I would've loved to stay up on the terrace longer. It was such a pretty space with a very relaxed yet nice vibe. Customer service was very friendly and professional. read more

Great service once seated, so-so food. We had a reservation and only a handful of tables were seated at 7:20am on a Sunday but they had us wait for about 10min before we could grab our table, likely because only 1 server was working. Her name was Cathy and she was lovely. Went there for breakfast, the standard Third Floor breakfast with two eggs, potatoes, meat and bread was dependable. Ordered the açaí bowl for our kids and it didn't mention it would have Greek yogurt on top which ended up being uneaten because my kids are sensitive to dairy. Same goes for the highly recommended chef special smoothies that tasted mainly of dairy and nothing else. I've had better and more dependable food at other high-end Marriott hotel restaurants. read more

HH until 5p They curate their own scent. The also sell it at the front desk. It's a very cool place to hang and just be around friends. I've been here twice and it didn't disappoint when I had dinner with friends late last year (Dec9 2025!). I'd come back for the HH (: read more

Made reservation for Valentines Day lunch and felt disappointed with the menu. Maybe I was over expecting. They only offer breakfast&brunch menu on weekends and not too many variety oh well at least the service and ambiance was nice. We ordered pork belly Benedict and chilaquiles and they tasted great! Just not what I expected. It was kinda like having overpriced breakfast/brunch at a hotel when we were on vacation We ended up walking to farmer market to get the vibe for the V day!!! read more

I went for the Saturday AYCE yakitori and it was a great experience! I was a little worried about if the meat was going to be tasty or dry. Everything was really good! I think there's an hour limit. I went at 4pm by 4:45 I noticed the shrimp was gone and they slowed down on making other skewers. By that time I was full, people that came that time didn't get shrimp. They had the following: Pork belly - my favorite Trumpet mushroom- favorite Shrimp-favorite Short rib Chicken balls Chicken thighs Yummy rice with shiitake mushrooms Yummy salad with Asian pear, almonds, and other stuff Wonton chips read more

This review is for the Yakitori on the Terrace! We loved the setting and idea of this rooftop concept and wanted to give it a try! Easy to get to (10-15min walk from the ferry or ~6-8 min by uber from the ferry building). The staff was kind, prompt, helpful prior to service. It seemed a little chaotic once on the rooftop but everything was self- serve so it makes sense. The DJ was a nice touch. Skewers were delicious, our favorites were the short rib, mushroom, chicken meatball. Taste best fresh off the grill! But you can always ask them to reheat if they feel cold. We wish there were more sauce / side options (some of the sides were cold). Ie: in Japan we'd always have chicken meatball with an egg yolk! (Just a nit-picky suggestion). Otherwise an amazing experience, perfect quick day date if you're looking for one! read more

I went here a year ago and it was much better and order the same thing. They gave me a hard fried egg over my burger not an over medium where the yolk spits out. The burger was overdone. I asked for medium. The oysters were a little bit fishy so I didn't eat that and it was a little weird with this apple foam. I was like very sweet and not salty and yummy like oysters are supposed to be with some hot sauce and some flavor. The fries were the star of the show I would stay away from their ranch. It's the worst ranch in the world definitely not coming back and they didn't really help mediate my burger and stuff being not so good skip and find a better place. read more

Lunch for two at the Yakitori on the Terrace event on a recent Saturday. We saved our appetites for this all you can eat experience and I'm glad we did. We left stuffed! My highlights include the pork belly and short rib skewers - so flavorful and grilled perfectly. The salads were also a refreshing counterpoint to all the proteins. We also enjoyed a sake flight and learned more about sake in the process. The atmosphere was convivial as there were several groups (4-6+ people) dining as well. The waitstaff and hosts were quite attentive and cheerful, checking in regularly if we needed anything. I would definitely return and with more people. It's a great spot for chilling and catching up with friends with excellent food and drinks at the ready! read more

The vibe here is really nice--upscale and classy since it's in a hotel, making it a great spot for a date or special dinner. Service, though, could've been better. We ordered the sourdough bread early, but it came pretty late and without butter. When we asked, they brought a tiny portion, then randomly brought a full container when we were nearly done. It was a nice gesture, just weird timing. The food was decent but nothing standout. The black cod was a little too fishy for our taste. Overall, great ambiance, okay food, and service that needs some fine-tuning. read more

The restaurant has a fancy dining atmosphere with dim lighting and comfortable seating. Our server was attentive when helping us order and if we had any other requests. The food was so so. They had interesting drinks to try on their menu. read more

Came here for breakfast and sampled a variety of things. Liked the ambiance/design and staff, but food was only OK but had a premium price tag...so overall I wouldn't come back. Food looks pretty, but doesn't taste great. - Model Bakery sandwich was delicious (can't ever go wrong with Model Bakery English muffins) - Fried Chicken sandwich: the meat was a mix of regular chicken cutlet and some sort of filler (?). It kind of reminded me of a school cafeteria sandwich - Burger: your standard - Omakase set: the menu said "miso cod", but they used a salmon filet. It had very sweet profile (including the miso soup, rice, and other side dishes) when you'd usually expect a savory profile Ambience - Nice design and lighting. Staff - very nice and attentive, but food service was extremely slow (waited 40+ min for breakfast) read more

I came here for a majhong event. They provided sets and teachers, and they had a couple staff who were flexible to join or leave a game so every table had 4. It was the day before halloween so they also had some candies. Drinks were $10 each, from the cocktail menu. * Saturn Milk Punch - 3.5 stars. Pretty refreshing but on the strong side for me, still a nice drink. Three people at my table ordered it! read more

Came with a friend for starters and dessert as well as drinks on Valentine's Day! The restaurant was quite busy, with a lot of seating! Note that this is inside the Jay hotel. The ambiance was nice and I loved the various decor! It was very sleek and modern. Moreover the servers were attentive. There is also a business casual dress code. My friend got the ice cream, cookie, and Irish coffee drink (alcoholic). I got the octopus skewers, passion fruit pavlova, and beer! Food summary: Octopus skewers 7/10 Very fresh, but a bit on the saltier side! I loved the sauce and it was grilled to perfection! Passion fruit pavlova 7/10 On the sweeter side for sure, but I had never had pavlova before so I wanted to give it a try! It was overall a very delicious and unique dessert, with strong passion fruit flavor. I really enjoyed the cream used in this dessert as it was soft and fluffy as well as not too rich! Overall, definitely a great place to go for starters, dessert, and drinks during a night out! read more

My boyfriend and I came here for a nice brunch date after reading great reviews and being drawn to the Japanese-inspired menu. Unfortunately, our experience was just okay. Even though we had a reservation, we still waited about 20 minutes--and the restaurant was only half full. I ordered the omakase set, which included rice, miso soup, corn arugula salad, miso cod, pickles, and two soft poached eggs. The miso soup had an odd sweet flavor, the pickles lacked any real taste, and the poached eggs were bland and under-seasoned. The miso cod was delicious, but the portion was tiny--just two small slices for $28. My boyfriend ordered the pork belly Benedict and was also disappointed. The dish was unexpectedly sweet, and the pork belly was ground instead of sliced, which took away from the texture and flavor. The atmosphere was great, but overall the food and value didn't live up to the hype. We wouldn't go back. read more

This review is for the Saturday yakitori AYCE only. The layout is a little confusing but you need to go to the third floor of the hotel and check in with a host to get a wristband. The vibes of the terrace are super nice - because it's not actually that high up, there wasn't any wind when we visited and the temperature was really nice. The rooftop is beautifully laid out with comfy couches and water stations throughout. You can also order sides or drinks (for extra cost). The food itself was alright - the selection is pretty small, and the food gets cold really quickly since they don't use heated trays or lamps to keep the skewers warm. If you get a freshly made skewer, it's good though. Overall I would say the vibes here are great and would be nice for drinks, but the AYCE skewer experience was just alright. read more

I found a little gem! The food is fresh and absolutely delicious -- I had a salad and a mushroom omelet, and everything was perfect. The coffee is also excellent; they use beans from Equator Coffee Company, which really takes things to the next level. What really stood out to me was the atmosphere and design. The space is modern, with lots of thoughtful details. Light wood adds a cozy touch, and the big windows bring in so much natural light -- it feels bright and welcoming. The staff are incredible: very attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely kind. They made sure I was comfortable the whole time and were lovely to talk to. You can sit inside or enjoy your meal out on the patio, which feels like a peaceful escape right in the middle of the city. Surrounded by plants and with a beautiful view, it felt like I was on vacation. What I loved most is that this place still feels like a hidden secret -- perfect if you're looking for a bit of calm, some privacy, and a great meal away from the rush of the city. read more

Beautiful and amazing food. It's on the 3rd level of the Jay hotel. I would go there again!

We really like this place. We even liked it back in the day when it was at street level and called Bar 333 in the Le Meridian Hotel. Now it's on the third floor (hence the name) and the hotel is The Jay. Might even like the new version better. It's a little out of the way so a few less tech/finance bros all wearing the uniform. You know, beige/tanish pants with blueish shirt with or with out white pin stripes under a Patagonia puffy coat. No originality in dress in the FiDi. Anyway, moving on. Nice new bar and cozy seating areas. Less hustle and bustle. Very relaxing. Check in to the hotel is close by so lots of travelers stopping in before hitting their room or the SF sights. When you go get The Dips. Roasted pepper pine nut spread and sweet potatoe humus with pita bread triangles and an assortment of veggies. I could take a bath in this stuff. We dropped in here this time before we had dinner elsewhere. I would say almost anytime we are now in the city we stop in here. If you look it up on Google or other searches it appears they open and close all through the day. Not the case. Open from 6:30am to 11:00pm everyday. The time splits are for breakfast, lunch, happy hour, etc. Excellent drinks food and service. read more

Truth in advertising: The Third Floor is literally on the third floor. They could also have called it "The Place With the Rooftop Bar" and though they'd win no awards for creativity they'd not be lying. The Third Floor is a bar and restaurant in The Jay (formerly Le Meridien), a high-end Marriott property in SF's Financial District. The space can be rented out for private events which is what brought me there: a Neo Soul House Party afternoon-into-evening gig which overtook the indoor and outdoor space and featured a DJ followed by live (indoor) music. During this time, the bar and restaurant were open for service allowing me the opportunity to partake in all aspects of The Third Floor. After receiving little hospitality from the bartender during my first round of drinks I moved to the rooftop and had excellent food (fries, $11) and drink service for the rest of the evening. The Jay's rooftop patio sits on the 3rd floor, flanked on one side by one of the Embarcadero's high-rise towers. As such, there's no real views from the space but it's creatively designed and features a nice, clean, and uncluttered ambiance (space heaters, fire pits, plants). San Francisco has very few rooftop bars and knowing of this somewhat under the radar space will definitely up your street cred. Live music was performed indoors, in a room in which some people had reserved their tables. Those wanting to watch the performers were left standing in the wide doorway on the side while also being advised not to block said doorway. It was a slightly odd arrangement (though not all were there to watch the music). I think live performers would be better enjoyed if they performed outside on the rooftop, or even in the other indoor space. Regardless of a few blips or grumbles about things I had a great time here and wouldn't hesitate to go to another event at this venue or - though I'm not generally in the habit of drinking at hotel bars - return for an al fresco cocktail before dark on a long summer day. read more

[review for bar only] Hats off to the Jay for making it onto my very exclusive list of best hotel bars in SF. I'm very particular about the type of hotel bar I prefer - good for solo, couple, or group, premium spirits and well curated wine list, bar bites that are substantive enough if you missed a meal, and NO TVs. 3rd Floor? check, check, check, and check. The bar itself is small (~6 chairs), but huge lounge area, including a really nice outdoor patio area. Couches and chairs are all super comfy, but enough structure if you need to have a business meeting. Their custom cocktails were creative and tasty, avoiding the overly-sweet tendency that so many bars defer to. Solid selection of premium spirits. I will definitely be back. read more

The ambiance here is so chic- inside and outside, very cool and modern. We didn't take advantage of the cocktail hour or midday menu but I did get cocktails with friends in the evening. Espresso martinis and margaritas- everyone enjoyed them. The breakfast was really good! The restaurant wasn't crowded and all but we enjoyed breakfast. My plate didn't look appetizing in its plating but was really good. Another pointer was that the bacon wasn't cooked great though- it wasn't crispy at all- not my preference. Other than that, it was really good. read more

The Third Floor is located inside the Jay Hotel (formerly Le Meridien). Recently renovated, it's a nice, classy, but unpretentious lounge. We came in on a Sunday afternoon, and the ambiance was warm, welcoming, and peaceful, a great place to have a drink, relax, and talk. Drink prices are not crazy high, unlike many places in the area. The food menu looks really good; some of the selections were not available when we were there, but we look forward to trying out the food options upon return. The woman helping us, I didn't get her name unfortunately, was very nice. We really enjoyed our time here and look forward to our next visit. read more

Enjoyed yakitori on the terrace and was so impressed with the service that we came back for happy hour later that day. For yakitori, the trumpet mushroom skewers were my favorite. They also had pork belly, steak, shrimp, 2 kinds of chicken, 2 types of salads, and a rice dish. The service was top notch. Such friendly staff. For happy hour, the milk punch was incredibly smooth and the charcuterie board delicious. The terrace has fire pits and comfortable lounge seating. Great place for a casual hang. They also have a full menu for the restaurant inside, which we passed on since we wanted to enjoy the terrace. read more

The weekend before the Lenten season is one of indulgence. All the way up to Fat Tuesday if one can make it that long. I can't make it that long. After this weekend I feel like one of those space station people in Wall-E. But I don't regret it, even if it will take more to rid this winter layer than it used to. I don't regret it at all, as one of the indulgences this weekend was on The Third Floor. A random selection, but one that had been on a list to try and as it was but a short walk away and as some we favor had said good things off we went. It's in a hotel. That used to be a more negative predictive indicator but it really isn't anymore. And the hotel is a Marriott which used to be so pedestrian but really isn't anymore. I mean, Hilton bought the Waldorf Astoria so all what used to be is pretty much out the window. The time here was so well spent I actually dreamed about writing a review. In the movie of the same name (Duck Soup), Groucho Marx famously observed: "Take 2 turkeys, 1 goose, 4 cabbages, but no duck, and mix them together. After one taste, you'll duck soup the rest of your life." The duck soup here is not that. This soup is an antidote to Groucho's recipe, as once you try it you'll be comparing this experience to all others forever and nothing will measure up. It's that delicious. As was the tartare, the oysters w their fizzy foam and presentation, and the two skewers all meaty and generous with the perfect glaze or dipping sauce. Enter Wall-E space station. Our primary server and all the assistants from front of house to chef were friendly, courteous, informative and super fun. Some reviews suggest that earlier on there was something to work out. If there was, they've clearly heeded the advice. Bc they've got it ALL together now. Go if you're in the neighborhood or make this the centerpiece of a nice date night if you're coming from far away. And you should come, even if you're far away. Because it's that good. read more
