Bar April Jean is a cute in and out type of bar. You will know when you have overstayed your visit. Even though the drinks are well made and really picturesque it seems to attract a certain kind of crowd that doesn't like to say please, thank you or excuse me.... The bartenders are super chill and nice. However it's always busy so either come early or be prepared to wait for a seat. There are these cute tables by the windows where you can people watch but they're always taken and for some reason by the men ‍ I guess they want their main character moment as well. This would be a perfect girls night out spot if you could sit with your pals by the window. Weekends are more grungy, I'd love to see the atmosphere during a HH on a weekday. read more

Stopped by with a few friends after seeing the bar and wanting a drink to celebrate making it to SF. The place is a cute little spot with seating and a nice bar. The bartender was kind and attentive. I ordered the La Naya and a Grandma Shirley with vodka to spice it up a bit lol. You can definitely taste the alcohol so there wasn't any skimping on that lol. My favorite was probably the Grandma Shirley with added vodka! I wanted something fruity so this was perfect. My friends really enjoyed the Watermelon Mama which they found refreshing. I chose this place to continue my catchup hang with a girlfriend on a Tuesday night. There weren't a lot of seating despite the big open space. I'm assuming the space gets pretty filled on a weekend but on a regular night the open space feels awkward. We sat at the bar. I enjoyed my drink, the maracuya mama, it was more bitter than sweet but I liked that. The bartender seemed to be skilled and experienced, but not a lot of conversation or banter. The decor is nice and the menu is crafted for a sit down intimate cocktail bar, but I think the experience doesn't match up well to what they are branding as. They have several TV's and put the football game on for us to watch which was nice. Also saw some regulars and the bartender playing backgammon, a great spot to relax and enjoy a drink in the afternoon. Such a cute bar with yummy drinks! Came around 5pm on a Friday and it was pretty empty. Definitely started to get busier around 6 when we left! The drinks were very reasonably priced and tasted so good! Honestly think it was my favorite drink I had all day (and we were bar hopping)! Went here twice within 10 days of my first visit because I enjoyed this place so much. I've tried La Naya (it's like a mezcal martini!), Sweet Pea (an aromatic green-drink-vibe gin cocktail), and the April Jean (classic, namesake inception, lovely vodka-based drink) - I'd recommend all of them, especially La Naya. It has a unique, balanced blend of light strawberry flavor notes over the smoky mezcal; delicious. They offer a variety of drinks with a plethora of garnishes I'm sure you can only find here, super cool. The bartenders are always incredibly chill and kind, I really enjoyed looking around and chatting while they made our drinks up. The decor and character of the bar is dazzling, with vinyls lining the beautifully carved bar shelves (I hear vinyl nights are starting up in the future!!) and a modern-saloon-mid-century-bar effect that is genuinely hard to do justice in words beyond "very pretty" and "I want to go there right now". The casement windows that open the bar up to the corners of Grant and Green are impossible to beat, especially during the summer. It was so nice to snag a table by these large, open windows and enjoy some fresh air while catching up with friends over tasty drinks (competitively priced ones too, I might add - the creators of this place meant it when they said they wanted to create an affordable and approachable bar in North Beach). The drinks are pretty good, not super overpriced but pretty delicious. Except he coffee drink which is pretty mid, tastes like a bad espresso martini with too much kahlua. The place is cute, trying to be mid-century modern. I don't get the TVs everywhere. There's also a lot of awkward space in the middle. Overall it's a cute vibe. The first bartender i spoke to, Von, was super chill and sweet. Unfortunately there was a woman bartender with frizzy brown and dyed blonde hair who was pretty rude to me and then later to my friend despite us going to the bar separately and both being respectful. Not sure what we did to provoke her, maybe she was having a bad shift. Regardless, I don't feel like the attitude was warranted. read more
