I just had the most spectacular dining experience at the post room. The cheese plate was amazing and the dinner was perfectly cooked. The service was excellent as well. I highly recommend this place if you're ever in San Francisco for whatever reason. One recommendation I have for this restaurant is to state what forms of payment are expected at this place. I still had a good experience here though

This is a solid hotel bar & restaurant. The atmosphere is so cool. Really well decorated, while keeping the old charm of the hotel. So pretty. So much detail in everything, lots to look at. We had drinks here a few times throughout our stay at the Beacon. On Friday night I ordered a drink and the bartender suggested something he felt was even better so I said sure! It was fantastic and he was really nice. Other than that one bartender, we both felt that all the other waitstaff left a little to be desired as the were not super friendly. It was nice that they kind of left you alone and let you enjoy your drinks or food, checking in every once in a while. There were just not really any smiles or a whole lot to make you feel really welcome. It made us wonder if this was because the 20% tip was already included. They weren't as forthcoming about that here as they were at Starlite either. That being said, they were as attentive as you want your wait staff to be, and the drinks and food were great. The cheese plate was delicious and we also had breakfast one morning and we enjoyed that.

Had a chance to relax at one of the tables here at the Beacon Grand's Lobby Bar known as the Post Room. Unfortunately we did not order anything as we were getting ready for a presentation with the hotel but would have liked to have had the opportunity to order a drink and sit at the bar. Lived the interior design while maintaining some of the treatments when it was formerly the Sir Francis Drake Hotel.

The restaurant is located up the stairs directly above their beautiful lobby. We ordered the grilled Spanish octopus with roasted farm potatoes, ancho chili, and Marcona almonds for appetizers. For entrees, we got the butter poached Maine lobster with citrus ricotta lobster ravioli, butternut squash, and sage, and the cioppino with salmon, mussels, clams, Gulf shrimp, and octopus in their classic red sauce. For sides, we ordered the French fries with their lemon creme fraiche and the grilled asparagus. Finally, we finished off with the espresso panna cotta garnished with cookie crumble and caramel as well as their strawberry cheesecake with shortbread crumble and basil. Presentation on very dish was beautiful and everything tasted as good as it presented. Service was excellent. Overall, it was a really nice and enjoyable dinner.

Oysters, cocktails and a piano walk into a bar. The Post room has it all, nails the perfect balance of chill vibes and classy energy and plus you can sip fancy drinks while the piano sets the mood in. Whats not to love?

This is the grand beacon hotels in house restaurant and cafe and bar. I got a cocktail at the bar last night -- the vesper -- it was $20 and definitely packed a punch. The gin definitely overpowered the vodka and I couldn't finish it. The ambiance is nice though. Try to grab a table along the side closest to the stairwell, as those seats have plush velvety seating with lots of lumbar support pillows. My server was friendly but it did seem like he was the only one working all the tables so he was stretched a little thin. Also they have long hours -- open 7am to 11pm everyday! It's worth a try since this part of union square is a bit of a food desert late at night.

Such a beautiful place. Food was delicious. And service is absolutely amazing! I came here for weekend afternoon tea. Tea service is $105 per person. The set includes choice of Guinigi brut or rose, choice of tea, two scones, one mini muffin, four tea sandwiches and four mini desserts along with some fruits and accoutrements. I love that for your selection of tea. Your tea expert will roll the cart over and offer in depth information and have you smell all the teas. That way you will find the perfect choice for you! Your food is nicely presented in three tiers with scones on the first, sweets on the second and savory on the top. Food size might not seem huge but I left fullllll. Everything is delicious and there is not a thing I disliked (a very rare occasion as a picky eater). While all bites are delicious I wanna point out a few stand outs. The ube scone is fire! The lobster roll is just chefs kiss. And the watermelon macaron (I didn't know that would work so well?!). The Tea expert/my wonderful server Tessa is so amazing. Her service is above and beyond to make sure I have everything in place. She is observant and comes over to check on me at the perfect moments. I can't say enough good things about the service here. I love the vibes. The decor is elegant and I love the tall ceilings. If you come at the perfect time you might catch live piano performances. The price point is high. But I think it definitely reflects on the quality of food, excellent service and atmosphere. It might not be a super frequent thing but definitely a treat (we all deserve a little treat here and there~). This experience is very worth it in my humble opinion. I came here for tea this time but I'm already eyeing some dishes and drinks to try next time. I look forward to my next visit!

Large group dining table at the Post Room in the Beacon Grand

We had another absolutely fantastic dining experience at The Post Room, located inside the beautiful Beacon Grand Hotel. Executive Chef Jose and his entire team truly went above and beyond. The food was outstanding, with first-class presentation and flavors that impressed every guest at our table. We enjoyed a four-course dinner, and each course was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully executed. The cocktails were perfectly crafted, and even the mocktails were exceptional, which our group really appreciated. Hosting a large group can be challenging, but the staff handled it effortlessly--attentive, professional, and warm throughout the entire evening. The ambiance was elegant yet inviting, fitting our celebration perfectly. After dinner, we continued the night upstairs at the iconic Starlite Lounge, which was the perfect way to end the evening. Our group also stayed onsite overnight, and the accommodations were excellent, making the entire experience seamless from start to finish. This dinner was especially meaningful as we were celebrating our son's 30th birthday, and thanks to the incredible team at the Beacon Grand, it was a celebration we will never forget. We are truly looking forward to sharing this fantastic experience with more of our family and friends in the future. Highly recommend for special occasions, group events, or an elevated dining experience in San Francisco. Don't miss out on this hidden gem!

Loved the ambiance--beautifully remodeled while still keeping its old-school charm. The staff was very professional and polite. We only tried tea and dessert, so I can't speak to the full menu. The tea was a regular tea bag quality rather than the higher-end blends. The cheesecake had great flavor, but it lacked the "cake" component I was craving, and the portion was quite small.

Beautiful place to come have drinks and mingle, but not so much the food. They have a great executive lunch set for $28. I had the French onion soup and pesto penne pasta combo. Sounds good, but soup was adequate, but the pesto sauce was to watery & bland. Will try the burger next time. I will definitely come back for drinks or have a business meeting, but save my appetite elsewhere.

A5 Wagyu & Black Truffle Old Fashioned ($25) This was also fantastic, rich and buttery old fashioned with truffle accents. The A5 Wagyu is sourced from the Niku Steakhouse local butcher shop! Ube Cheesecake ($19) Wonderful dessert cocktail to finish the night. We didn't have time to try the Escape Room connected to the Speakeasy, but we'll be back! There are two rooms, one in the front with a puzzle theme, and another in the back with a Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings) vibe. Staff was friendly and took time to explain the clever menu to us!

Lore's Wonderland escape room was a fun and delightfully whimsical experience. **This review is…read moremainly for the escape room, as we did not order any additional drinks outside of the escape room.** THE SPACE // Lore Speakeasy and Escape Room has cool themed decor everywhere, from the dimly-lit speakeasy/bar room in front, to the Middle Earth/Lord of the Rings-themed board game room, to the individual bathrooms, and of course the escape room's multiple Alice in Wonderland-themed rooms. Clearly a lot of effort went into building these rooms and evoking a certain vibe for each. THE ESCAPE ROOM // The puzzles in the escape room varied in difficulty - some required us to think a bit more, some required our observational skills to work harder, and others required a light level of physical skill/movement. We were perplexed a few times but never got stuck for too long, as the White Rabbit (played by Phoenix, the live actor/puzzle master) would jump in occasionally to provide clues over the speaker or in person. It took us about 1 hr 20 min to finish the entire escape room; I thought the pacing was good. THE [ESCAPE ROOM] DRINKS // Lore's escape room experience comes with "a flight of themed cocktails or mocktails, including "potion"-style drinks that are integrated into the experience as you progress", per the website. We got to choose one cocktail/mocktail option (Korean Cold Noodles) from a list on the website, and the other two drinks are pre-selected to supposedly fit into the Wonderland theme, with the flavors described online as "berry" and "peach". You can get both cocktail and mocktails for your party, in case some people want alcohol and others don't. We all enjoyed the flavor of the Korean Cold Noodles cocktail, which was refreshing and surprisingly a bit minty in the mocktail version. However, we didn't like the two other two pre-selected themed drinks as much. The "berry" drink gave us cherry cough syrup vibes, and the cocktail version of it was quite strong. The "peach" mocktail drink reminded me of canned fruit syrup; we also were missing the two cocktail versions, though we decided not to ask for them as the mocktail version already was less than impressive. One other missed expectation here was the size of the drinks that we received in the escape room. We were expecting full-sized cocktails, like what they serve in the speakeasy in front. Instead, we found out that the drinks are served in small "vials". Given the size of the drinks in the escape room, combined with us not even enjoying two out of the three drinks, I would preferred to go through the escape room without the drinks at all, and likely pay a bit less for the escape room then. OVERALL // I'd still recommend the escape room as a good one-time experience with a date/friends/family. Just don't expect too much from the included themed drinks! The speakeasy drinks on the main menu do sound unique/tasty, so I might come back again to try those sometime.

We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.
