Super cute eatery! Definitely feels nicer than your traditional happy hour, service is great and super friendly! we got a special pizza, charcuterie and cauliflower alongside cocktails. Everything was tasty!! The only reason for 4 stars are the prices, servings were small and pricey!
It's been a while since I've come back here and the drinks are still great. For drinks I had the Smoke on the Water - bourbon & fernet cocktail with smoke. It's more like a campfire smoke, which wasn't really my thing but it was not bad Manhattan - liked it better than the former Food I enjoyed the glazed pork belly and crab cakes a lot. Pizza was ok. Would come back for the cozy vibes.
I think I found my new favorite restaurant in the Financial District! I never had a salad that I enjoyed this much. I ordered the Parmesan Chicken Salad and OMG... it was so good! The chicken was perfectly crispy, the dressing was just the right amount, and everything just went so well together. All around perfection! My friend ordered the Heirloom Tomato Salad and added seared ahi tuna on top. Wow, great choice! The tuna was such a good addition. We honestly couldn't decide which one we liked more. My other friend ordered the Chopped Salad with Grilled Chicken. That one was just alright--not bad, but not as memorable as the other two salads. Our waiter was amazing too. She was so patient with us and kept checking in because we took a while to order. We were too busy chatting and catching up! The ambiance was great too. Nice, cozy, and comfortable. Perfect place to have a nice lunch and catch up with an old friend. Definitely coming back!
Visiting with friends who have never been to SF. We were seated upstairs and it was cozy and quiet. Our waitress was wonderful and gave us some great suggestions. The Manhattan project is a great way to customize your drink. Everything was delicious but the Mac and cheese was to die for! Also warm chocolate chip cookies to top off the night.
Love the FiDi old school luxury aesthetics. The menu is a little pricey for lunch, but it is San Francisco after all. High on flavor and quality. Steak Frites: Perfect for a business lunch. The steak is hearty and protein rich, with an air of indulgence. The chimichurri adds a nice flavor accent, so you're not being too spartan. Though one of those creamy French steak sauces would have been nice too. The fries are perfect with steak, reminiscent of a French brasserie experience. The lightly cooked heirloom tomato slices add a nice umami contrast, better than raw tomatoes. And the broccolini gets some green veggies. Big enough to be filling, but not so big you feel overly stuffed.
The food was good. I ordered truffle fries and red wine and my friends ordered different pastas and charcuterie broad. The service needs work. Our first server was amazing; Nice, friendly, helpful. While our other server was rushing us. The vibes changed dramatically. I lightweight felt uncomfortable. The ambiance was nice. There was music playing in the background and the game playing on the TV.
Stopped by for Thursday night dinner after work. Upscale intimate vibe with great service! The short rib is a must try and definitely save room for a strawberry shortcake dessert! They have a build your own Manhattan which I loved. Really can't go wrong - one of my go to spots!

Ubicado en el distrito financiero de la ciudad, con un clima perfecto, estuvimos en la terraza compartiendo entre compañeros de trabajo, así que la experiencia y el ambiente estuvieron lindos. Nos atendieron super rápido para tomarnos el servicio; mi comida fue el Grilled Chicken y estaba de 100! Maravilloso y aparte le agregué papas fritas que fue el mejor acompañante a mi platillo. Una de mis amigas pidió el steak wrap y wow, buenísimo también. Los otros dos compañeros pidieron el filet mignon y el steak fries, para ser platillos tan elevados en precio es muy poca la porción. Estaban ricos si, pero muy poca la porción. Se ordenó también el expreso martini pero ese si estaba fatal, parecía como si le hubiesen colocado agua de la llave, nada bueno, no lo recomiendo. En cuanto al restaurante muy bonito, se veía un ambiente lindo. No me percaté del parking, creo que no tienen espacio para estacionar. Podría volver a comer y disfrutar nuevamente. Gracias por hoy.
My flight landed too late for me to meet up with my friends, and I was in need of a quiet weeknight dinner. I grabbed a seat at the bar, and Per Diem fit the bill perfectly. Now, I've spent the last forty years or so eating and drinking whatever I want. Unfortunately, I'm getting to be an old man, so I have to "think about my health" and "not get gout". So while I wanted to start with the meatballs, move on to the braised shortribs, get some dessert, and chase it all down with several barrel-aged manhattans, I am growing as a human being. I knew it was going to be a weak of heavy eating and heavy drinking. So I made a healthier choice, and got the chopped salad with salmon and avocado, and a glass of white wine. I even got the smaller pour. And it was a light, nutritious, smart choice for dinner. It even tasted good. What I'm saying (I guess) is that Per Diem has something on the menu for everyone, including the man I used to be and whoever I am these days. Also, the service was friendly and knowledgeable and even fun because a new bartender was being trained. Neither the trainer nor the trainee commented on the strange choices I had made, but they both made me feel quite welcome.
Wonderful place for a business lunch. I've visited 3 times for lunch & have always been pleased with our meals & service. Make a reservation if possible but walk-ins are welcome (we did walk in today, at opening time). The main dining room features dark wood, like an old school tavern. They have seating available upstairs for larger parties. We started with the Brussels sprouts which was topped with bacon & had a sauce on the place, adding a nice flavor to the Brussels sprouts. One of my favorite lunch entrees is the mushroom pasta that has a buttery mushroom sauce & mushrooms over bucatini & topped with an egg. It's surprisingly filling. We didn't have space in our stomachs for dessert but I've had the molten chocolate cake before & it's delicious & would have it again. Service is speedy & helpful. They are accustomed to the busy lunch crowd so if you're on a time limit, this place works for a business lunch.
After a long day of meetings, Per Diem provided the perfect atmosphere to relax and recharge! We were able to make a reservation earlier in the week and the restaurants downtown location was just a short easy walk. From the moment we walked in, the service stood out, we were greeted right away and even provided a space to park luggage as one of our colleagues would fly out after drinks. They were accommodating and even catered towards our groups food sensitivities. We shared a variety of appetizers from thier happy hour menu and every dish had its own unique flavor and taste! Crowd favorites were definitely the fresh tuna tartare and the savory steak bites!
It was our monthly date night. My husband found this place. Daniel greet us and was a great bartender and helped all evening. Drinks had nice names and were very tastie and food yummy. We ate light. Fresh Raw Oysters, String Fries, and finally a pizza. The pizza was a thin crust, with a little spicy flavor. A must visit place.
Decent. The atmosphere is very cool. I sat the bar mid-shift for happy hour and my service was a bit imbalanced. The menu looks amazing! I had oysters, a crab arancini, truffle fries, and kale salad. The oysters had many shell remnants, which made for an unpleasant experience. The crab arancini was incredible! Truffle fries had been left under the heat lamp, so when they arrived, they got cold VERY quickly. Truffle flavor was light. My kale salad arrived without the bacon. They had it remade for me, which gave the fries, meant to be my salad's side, more time to get even colder. The dressing had a nice flavor and the polenta croutons were interesting. For $17 HH price, it was honestly small and underwhelming. I would try again.
brussel sprouts: solid appetizer, would recommend gnocci ragu: the lamb was a bit gamey which was good for me, but not as much of a favorite for one of my party members wild mushroom pasta: the truffle was a bit strong for me, but if you like that you'd probably enjoy this pasta braised short ribs: a great short rib, it was soft and easy to cut and the pasta was a nice chewy texture. made a resy for 630 on a thursday and got seated early which was nice. my table decided to do family style even though the dishes were all looking like individual portion and a tad smaller than an expected pasta dish. all the dishes were great and the service was fantastic because they kept checking in on us. cute little fi-di spot good for coworkers, interested in trying out their happy hour. a little pricey but otherwise very solid experience, just not really my cup of tea. i've had the take out risotto before and that is my favorite so i'd recommend that dish. read more
Pretty cute place that reminded me of a speakeasy! We were seated upstairs. Lot of fun decor and 2 single person restrooms in the back so it was super convenient! Friendly service and efficient, especially for a long table! All the food was pretty okay- the family style set menu was an easy choice to do! My party of four visited after work on a Friday for happy hour, and from the moment we arrived, it was a great experience. We had a fun interaction with Benjamin at the door, who seated us right away and made us feel incredibly comfortable. Originally, we planned to order just a few items to start the night and then move on to another spot, but everything was so good that we stayed longer. We started with the Brussels sprouts, which were perfectly cooked, followed by the wild mushroom pasta that was so creamy and delicious, we decided to add mussels. We also tried the short rib bites, which were tasty, though a bit overcooked. The drink selection was impressive, but I had to try the cocktails. My favorite was the Passive Nature, so good that I ordered a second round. By the end of the night, we decided this will be our new regular spot--great food, great service, great drinks, and an even better ambiance! read more
Good vibes, bomb food, excellent service and overall a great time with our server Chris! SF is a foodie's dream. There are so many options and not enough time or stomach space to indulge it all. Per Diem is definitely worth a stop for several reasons. The 1st is the service. Chris our server was very attentive and all around a good vibe during our dinner. He was a very pleasant surprise to our dinning experience and loved his vibrant personality. Thank you Chris! Second, the food was SO delicious. Starters with truffle Brussel sprouts which held so much flavor and I am not sure what's in the orange sauce but together melted in your mouth goodness. I could add these to some rice and call it a night. I ordered the dinner special which was steak with green beans and truffled mashed potatoes. Yes, this is a meal that you can probably make at home but it won't taste the same. Trust me. I don't think I've tasted meat quite this delicious and tender. I eat steak well done, no pink, please and thank you. Most restaurants overcook the meat, this was perfectly cooked to my taste and flavorful. The mash was also very tasty and so were the green beans. Every piece of the meal worked together and I was left satisfied. Well kind of satisfied...I was still hungry so dessert it is. As you can see the portions here are "smaller" for entrees compared to other restaurants. Third, the desert was a white cake drizzled with something I can't remember and ice cream plus fruit. Came by Per Diem for a quick happy hour drink with friends on a Friday afternoon. There's a happy hour menu with $13 cocktails and appetizers 3-5pm weekdays. I opted for a zero proof drink that was nice and well balanced with soda water, lemon and cucumber and overall a nice, central location for a drink. We did also share an order of fries for something to munch on. read more

Came with a friend for Valentine's Day dinner! We order the wild mushroom pasta, truffle fries, and shrimp cocktail to share! We also got the strawberry tiramisu, and I got the non alcoholic amalfi coast drink! Everything was delicious! The interior was well-decorated, and I really liked the vibes! The servers were also really nice and attentive! Food summary: Wild mushroom pasta 9/10 Very creamy and rich! The egg as well as the mushrooms were great, and the pasta was cooked Al dente! Shrimp cocktail 9/10 Very delicious - a typical shrimp cocktail starter! Truffle fries 10/10 Good truffle flavors, crispy, and with a sprinkle of Parmesan! Amalfi coast drink 9/10 I loved the color, and it tasted just like an actual alcoholic spritz :) Strawberry tiramisu 10/10 I loved this! The cream was soft and fluffy, the lady fingers were delicious, and the berries were all very fresh! Overall, would definitely come back again! read more
The inside was super cute and gave a rustic historic vibe! I didn't expect it to be 2 stories. Also this is a Michelin guide restaurant (but it was super easy to get a resy). I went with a friend who I haven't seen in over a year so we were talking a lot, catching up, and having a good time but the waiter kinda kept rushing us to order..... so that was kinda annoying. Minus 1 star for that. Food wise: The crab arancini was so soft and warm inside they melt so perfectly in your mouth wow. They were perfectly fried and the aioli sauce made them 10000x better. Definitely my favorite dish of the night. The Brussels sprouts are always a hit. They were so flavorful and crispy and had a generous amount of Parmesan so that was nice. I didn't want to be basic and get the margherita pizza, so I tried the summer squash flatbread, which an interesting dish. I couldn't really taste much of the squash part but I love goat cheese so I thought it was yummy. Really refreshing tbh and worth the try. Glad I got that over the margherita! read more

Ambiance and aesthetics were great! Was greeted when we walked in and were seated right away since we had a 12pm reservation for 3. We sat upstairs on the 2nd floor and it was a dark setting but still very nice and relaxing. There were a lot people in the restaurant already and it got even more full around 12:30pm. Waitress gave us water and asked if we wanted drinks. She gave us enough time and always came back. No complaints, food was good with ratings 7-8.5/10. Bay Area prices on menu normal, example: $17 salads but additional $7 chicken, $9 shrimp, $12 salmon and $15 to add steak read more

This place is AWESOME! We stumbled upon it for happy value and stayed for dinner. The happy hour menu is fantastic! We had the meatballs, pike, and smash burgers which were all perfect. Then we ordered the grilled chicken which was equally as amazing. My husband loves bread pudding, so we have a rule that if a restaurant has bread pudding we HAVE to order it. We decided on the bread pudding and crème brûlée which were both so good. Our waiter Archi was the icing on the cake. Do not miss this place! read more
Unfortunately, the lingering impression from Per Diem is the extremely slow and inattentive service. Based solely on the food, I'd round up to four stars, but the long wait and difficulty in getting our server's attention made it a mixed experience, with entrees arriving at nearly 8pm for a 6:30pm reservation. Our server was pleasant but performed a successful vanishing act for most of the night. My Dino Kale salad was solid, and kindly they omitted the bacon to make it vegetarian, but it could have used more of all the other fixings. Some more parmesan and beets would have helped the dish, but a more generous serving of the polenta croutons would have done wonders for it. They were the absolute star of the salad and there should have been ten instead of three. In short, Per Diem would be a place to give another shot to try another choice and bask in the luxurious rustic digs, but because of the overall experience, it may not be a repeater in the near future. read more

Great service and great food in this centrally located and nice ambience restaurant. The food was very good! The Brussels sprouts had a honey glaze added to it which made the savory bacon and the sweet honey with the crisply roasted Brussels sprouts taste great. The meat appetizer was good and the mussels could have been cooked just a little longer. The soup base was just right where the mussels were a little soft on the inside from being a little undercooked in my opinion. The salmon was fantastic. Cooked just right inside to make it flaky yet not overcooked and the salmon skin on top was broiled just right to be nice and crispy. That was my favorite. I'm less of a fan of a lot of salt these days so I enjoyed my meal. My colleagues mentioned they would prefer more salt on their pasta entree and salmon entrees. Love love love! We needed a place that was open between traditional lunch and dinner--this hit the mark--in more ways than one. The food slaps. The ambience is ridiculous: genteel, civilized, old world charm, it's a las library typology converted into an industrial sophisticated gastropub. We sat upstairs, cocooned. The food here is insanely good, fresh ingredients and carefully prepared. Their Niçoise salad one of the best ever: fresh confit and crunchy green beans with olives and hard boiled egg ... the dressing finishing touch. The ahí a mound of deliciousness with taro chips. OMG their delicata squash drizzled with yogurt, charred edges perfection. Service excellent, genuinely warm and kind. Prices fair. Parking is tough, find a lot because street parking is near impossible in the financial district. This place is a gem! read more

TLDR: Came for a group dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the food, ambiance, and service! Of all the things we tried, I'd recommend the roasted chicken and lava cake the most. ------ FOOD: 1. Roasted Chicken (5/5): Not dry at all, really flavorful, loved the tomato based sauce it came with. 2. Lava Cake (5/5): A delicious dessert that really hits the spot. Your classic chocolate lava cake with a fruit sauce / drizzle on top paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top 3. Rustic Meatballs (4.5/5): A great meatball dish, though ever so slightly denser than I would prefer 4. Caesar Salad (4.5/5): Honestly was really surprised by how much I liked this Caesar. I thought the dressing was great and flavorful. 5. Crab Arancini (4/5): I had super high hopes for this but I think the inside is a little dry -- could use some more sauce or melty cheese 6. Burrata Toast (4/5): A dessert-y appetizer thanks to the sweetness of the honey drizzle on top. Would have been great if the toast was a little crispier very the soft sourdough, but the overall flavor was unique and folks liked it 7. Brussels Sprouts (4/5): Solid, standard sprouts, nothing special 8. Mushroom Gnocchi (3.5/5): The truffle oil was good and I like the concept of the mushroom pasta, but the gnocchi itself was too soft and didn't have a chew factor. Tasted more like balls of mashed potatoes? If the gnocchi had more of a bite, this would have been a great dish! 9. Halibut (3.5/5): A little dry 10. Semifreddo (2.5/5): Not what I expected based on the description and unfortunately not really for me 11. Tiramisu (1/5): Didn't taste like tiramisu at all, and honestly the mascarpone cream tasted sour like it had gone bad. Hopefully the desserts they gave us were one-off and this dessert doesn't usually taste like this... ------ ENVIRONMENT / AMBIANCE: * Despite the unassuming exterior, the inside of this restaurant is cute! It gives me New York vibes honestly, and the upstairs dining area had lots of space and overlooked the rest of the restaurant downstairs * There were lots of people there who looked like they had just gotten off of work together and grabbing dinner / drinks -- this has a great vibe and location for that ------ SERVICE: * What you'd expect and perfectly good! read more
Reservations made by phone for lunch on a Monday about a week in advance. I got text updates, and it was $25 per person cancellation fee if we cancelled less than 24 hours in advance. This is a nice spot, definitely the type for business lunches, a bit dark and serious in its decor, medium noise level, plenty of space downstairs and upstairs. The service was professional and efficient. Our group of 5 was in and out in an hour. * Wild Mushroom Pasta - 4.5 stars I usually only like red sauce pasta, and I usually don't like mushrooms. But the images for this one actually looked rather tasty with the fancy mushrooms and the egg, and I didn't regret my decision. This pasta was tasty! I added chicken for it to be extra filling which was perfect, I was pretty hungry :) It was a little oilier at the bottom so it was hard to eat but otherwise it has a good cheese flavor which was very delicious! There's quite a lot of searing especially for big parties, there's a bar downstairs I believe. Our waiter was super kind and attentive to our needs. read more

This experience was amazing! We were greeted by the entire staff when walking in, seated promptly on a Friday night, and the service was incredible. The drinks were on point, the food was amazing, and the people were so nice. We did witness a full on "Karen" (name was 5 characters, started with a C and ended with an "arol") melt down over her Trump google alert. I was so impressed by the staff and manager for how they deescalated the situation without alienating the rest of the customers. This is what professionalism looks like!!! read more

Most amazing restaurant in an unexpected place. The management and staff are fabulous.. unfortunately we witnessed someone from middle America complaining about having gender, neutral bathroom, bathrooms, and the management handled it amazingly. read more

I only uploaded one of the croquttas picture, but really after that set we ordered another lol The overall look of this place is really cool and they have an upstairs they open up once in awhile I think our second favorite is the chicken, whatever rub they used was great! Overall the service was really good and were def coming back! read more

Will this work for a business lunch needing some quiet?
This is a great spot for a business lunch or HH. It is not always the quietest place but the volume is very dependent upon how busy they are.
Any vegan options?
As I am not a vegan I didn't pay attention to that, but they do have a very good size menu and a competent chef so I'm sure they have something for a selective diet.
