Perbacco has been on my list for a while, so I was excited when my friends chose it for dinner. I'm glad we went because the food was delicious overall. We started with the burrata and added prosciutto, which I highly recommend. We also tried what I believe was the agnolotti del plin as an appetizer. It was good, but the portion was only a handful of pieces so I'm not sure I'd order it again for the price. We also had the pappardelle, which we really enjoyed, and the short rib was delicious. The food was definitely the highlight of the night. Unfortunately, the service put a damper on an otherwise great meal. Our waitress, Jamie, came over to take drink orders, and since I wasn't drinking and was hungry, I started to order appetizers. She interrupted me and said, "We don't take food orders right now. We take drink orders first. There is a process to this." My friends and I all looked at each other in shock. It definitely put a bad taste in our mouth about the service at the beginning of dinner. We ended up getting dessert elsewhere because we weren't a fan of the service. I would absolutely come back to Perbacco because there were several dishes I genuinely loved. Came here for lunch for a group of 3. Would recommend reservations, they look like they fill up pretty quick with walk-ins but we were able to get a reservation pretty easily a couple days before. Nice ambiance, feels like an upscale restaurant with not obnoxious pricing (pasta dishes around max $30). I had the prix fixe lunch menu ($35) - I got the Caesar salad & lasagna. The lasagna was delicious!! I ate every last bite. Service was solid but entrees did take a minute to come out. We also had the rosemary focaccia, I'd highly recommend! Came here with no reservation on a Wednesday evening for dinner. We were seated right away by the booth. This restaurant was participating in sf restaurant week so we ordered from that menu. It's $60 for a 3 course meal. The total with 20% tip came to $88. The service was great and our waiter was super friendly and attentive. However, I didn't love the food. I got the zuckerman farms asparagus with prosciutto for appetizer. My friend got the spring soup and it was the better choice! The asparagus was not flavorful and kind of hard. The second dish, I got the langaroli. This was pretty heavy but flavorful. I couldn't really taste the truffle or shortrib. For the final dish, I got the pork tenderloin as this was the recommended dish. I also thought this was pretty heavy. The spinach was really salty. The staff at Perbacco sure do know how to make a girl feel like a princess! What an outstanding time I had here for my solo dinner in the city. Made a reservation for 6:15pm and was running late (darn traffic) so I called up and they were so nice and accommodating to my tardiness. When I arrived, they had a nice table waiting for me. I was eyeing the bar since normally I'm a girl who loves a bar seat, but it was nearly full and TBH this was one of those rare circumstances that the table was the best option. I noticed a few other solo diners this night, so clearly they do a great job at catering to us. To start, I had the Saturn's Moon cocktail. Super tasty! If you're into a smokey Mezcal drink, this one is it. I paired this with my starting dish of the Arancini and they made a perfect pair. The Arancini was crispy, delicious and sat on a dollop of a delicious sauce. Next, I had the citrus salad. Also very good! Juicy orange slices, arugula, nuts, pickled onions, and fennel. This was the perfect little palate cleanser after the arancini and before my main course. I asked my server, Edward, what drink he'd recommend to pair with this salad and he sent out a Perbacco cocktail. Citrusy and refreshing, so these together were great! For my main, I had their delicious short rib! This was incredible and so so tender. The maître d' offered me a steak knife for this that I most definitely didn't need, it was so fork tender! So yummy, with a few carrots and onions on the side. I asked Edward (again) for the beefiest red they had and he gave me a few options. The one I picked went perfect with the shortrib! To finish, I had a great little glass of port! Absolutely perfect ending to a great meal! Super wonderful night over at Perbacco! From the time I walked in, The maître d', to the hostess, my server, Edward all treated me like royalty. One thing about me is I'm a customer service lover and this place from start to finish was an incredible experience. My coworkers and I always have a great experience at Perbacco! This visit, we really enjoyed everything we ordered. We started with the caesar and arancini, and both were delicious. The caesar was well balanced (looks less dressed than it was), and the arancini were a standout--the sauce was creamy, addicting, and something we couldn't stop dipping into. For mains, we ordered the pappardelle, tajarin, and langaroli, and each dish impressed in its own way. *The pappardelle was excellent, though we recommend getting the horseradish cream on the side. The horseradish flavor is mild, but it could easily become overpowering depending on your preference. *The tajarin had the perfect balance of meat and noodles and was surprisingly very filling. *The langaroli were like little pasta pillows--soft, rich, and comforting. The truffle butter was absolutely heavenly and well balanced that it didn't become overwhelming after a few bites. This was hands down my favorite pasta dish of the ones we ordered. They offer Parmesan at the table, and while it may seem like a lot at first, trust them--they know what they're doing. You'll definitely find yourself wanting more cheese. Came here for lunch on a weekday with some colleagues and unfortunately this missed the mark for me. Started with the arancini's which were good but not the best I've had. For my entree I got the daily special seared tuna with mozzarella and arugula. This was pretty disappointing since all it came with was 5 tiny pieces of seared tuna, two slices of mozzarella, and a handful of arugula. There was barely enough food to call it a meal when the server made it seem like a large salad. The pasta dishes seem to be the standout here so I'd probably order that next time if I choose to come back. read more

This spot, located near the edge of FiDi and North Beach, features modern Italian food. The atmosphere and decor present an up-scale vibe, with a clear focus on sophistication and elevated service. The food itself is solid, with rich creamy pastas such as the tajarin, however, for the price you could probably get some tastier options in North Beach by paying slightly more. As a whole, this is a great spot for team gatherings or other events where you're looking to host large parties, while also having pretty good food. Worth checking out if you haven't been. read more

This was my first time at Perbacco. All ingredients are fresh and high quality. After receiving the Fritto Misto and the brussels sprouts as appetizers, it took a while (close to 40 minutes as an estimate) for our entrees to arrive. The brussels sprouts and Fritto Misto were both quite dry and not too flavorful, though the entrees made up for it. The Agnolotti was very much an elevated classic comfort food that had the perfect level of savory flavors. While it was good, I do think visual presentation of the entrees could be improved with extra garnish on top. For dessert, we ordered the Brutti Ma Buoni which was excellent - the powdered sugar exterior was lightly crunchy but tends to melt in your mouth while the inside was chewier and sticks to the roof of your mouth. This is definitely a common corporate dinner spot since it's in the Embarcadero and has higher prices as a result. Otherwise, this was a decent dinner overall and I'd recommend it to my coworkers when planning a celebratory team dinner. read more

Perbacco introduces Italian flavors in a modern way, with a great selection of food and wine. The owner Umberto Gibin shared his passion for Italian food and wine with Americans' ways of preparation. He opened many of California's finest Italian restaurants, including Chianti, and Poggio, and Perbacco and Gibin. Saturn's Moon $17 Husband got the Saturn's Moon made with Mezcal, lemon, orgeat, and passion fruit. The mixture of Mezcal with citrus fruits was amazing. Passione Tropicale $8 I ordered the passion fruit mocktail that mixes lemon, orange juice and passion fruit. A little bit on the sweeter side. Piastra Roasted Octopus $22 We ordered the roasted octopus for appetizer, with olive oil crushed potatoes, fennel, radish, and pickled onions on the side. There are a total of 4 pieces of octopus with salsa verde. Tajarin $29 We got one spaghetti, made with the hand cut thin tagliatelle, and 5 hour pork and porcini mushroom sugo. Risotto $34 We ordered the risotto which was very yummy. Risotto mixed with golden chanterelle mushrooms, yellow corn, pancetta, and parmigiano Reggiano. Love the way that yellow corn makes the risotto stand out with texture and complexity. Liberty Farm Duck Breast $40 And for the secondi, we ordered the liberty farm duck breast with stone fruit panzanella, arugula, frisee and duck jus. Food was very bland from the cappellacci to the short rib to the appetizers. The frutti di mari had only 3 small shrimp and seemed more like a vegetable tempura plate. Everything was mid including the dessert - there was no flavor in the semifredo. The olive oil cake tasted more like a a banana pudding with extra oil put into it. Very false advertising as an "Italian" restaurant as nothing was authentic and had zero taste. All the dish names were inaccurate, even the Lambrusco drink from Trader Joe's tastes more accurate than what was served here. The lighting was dim/moody. There were table cloths and linen napkins. Our waiter spoke in Italian. He was very over the top and engaging. I ordered the amichi mocktail. Sweeter than I like but I enjoyed it. I ordered the Rabaton gnocchi for my entree. The gnocchi was cheesy and tender but the sauce was a bit too flat/ bland for me. You get a pretty good helping. Came here for work lunch and it was FABULOUS. The ambiance and interior of the restaurant is super cute. It's very spacious inside, and it was bustling during lunch hour. We started with a salad and roasted octopus. I'm sad I forgot to take a photo of it, but the octopus was incredible. It was tender, had this amazing smoky flavor, and it came with pickled onions, potato, and salsa verde. Lots of freshness and tons of different flavors on the plate. I loved the pickled onions with the octopus, they gave just the right amount of acidity to bring balance. So so good. I'll come back just to have this again. For the main, I went with the ravioli. Perfectly cooked with slight al dente which I love. The sauce was really good too and it didn't feel too heavy. Lastly for dessert, we tried the panna cotta. Loved the creaminess, the tartness, and sweet bits from the pistachio cream and crunchy bits. The recommendations to try the panna cotta did not disappoint. My only note is, don't come for a work lunch if you're pressed for time. They took a bit long to bring out the main entrees and we were there for almost two hours. I really enjoyed the mint flavor in pasta. It was light and refreshing, which was a great contrast to the pappardelle which was more hearty. The salads were good, but nothing special. The dining by room was pretty crowded but I was happy to be able to still have conversations without feeling like I need to shout or be too quiet. Wow, literally! Haven't been to this Italian gem in many years but it still shines. Came in for happy hour (4-6pm) and sat at the bar. 3 wines were on the special price list and I chose the Toscano (Sangiovese). For $10 this was an easy yet impressive wine. Several food options on the HH menu: Arancini in tomato sauce and prosciutto di Parma served with mozzarella. Couldn't resist the Fritto Misto as well. These 3 would have been sufficient for snacks but we also opted for octopus off of the dinner menu. Service overall is great, food decent. Beet salad - 4/5, lots of beets with some veggies and a sort of nutty spread on the plate. If you like beets you'll definitely love this. I think the ratio of beets to veggies is a bit off for me, but it is called a beet salad for a reason! Filet mignon - 3.9/5, I don't care for meat like this often, but I took a bite and it was pretty good. The sauce was pretty flavorful, and the meat was super tender. If you're really into meat, you might say it lacks that beefy flavor that good filet mignon should have. It came with gnocchi, which I thought was really interesting! Unfortunately the gnocchi was sort of soggy? Otherwise, good enough for me. Halibut - 3.5/5, decently tender with different sauces that gave it more dimension. It came with cauliflower, which I really liked. The raisins gave it a sweetness which was also nice. Chocolate truffle cake - 1/5, chocolate cake with a sort of whipped cream and meringues. Came here on a fun, bustling Saturday evening and the experience and food were out of this world, delicious. Got the yummy green salad and pasta, which were both spectacular. We sat at the very long bar and had the pleasure of having Jake as our bartender who served up extraordinary libations including an Italian 75 spritz and told us that they make a most decadent espresso martini. The restaurant and bar are both stunning and impeccably inviting to serve both large groups and more intimate, date night meals. Came for a Friday lunch, and it wasn't too busy. Our waiter was helpful and service was friendly (though not very quick). The asparagus appetizer was a standout to me, as it was fresh and flavorful. The octopus starter was beautifully plated and very tender. We also ordered a few of their salads, which were just okay - they were very similar in taste. The nuts were a little stale. My main was the sole, which was very simple and quite a large portion. It was good. The desserts were also fine, but the espresso was not to my liking. Overall, a solid, 4 star meal. read more

My Restaurant Week pris fixe dinner was delicious, and the place has a classy atmosphere without being stuffy. My favorite thing about this restaurant was the service. My friends and I hadn't seen each other in years. We talked and laughed and solved the world's problems. We were the last ones out the door. As we were leaving, I noticed that the staff cleaned up the whole restaurant except for the part near us. They gave us no indication that they were done for the night and wanted to go home.
