Don't remember the name but was excellent!

Delfina Restaurant is an institution. I've been coming here for 24 years. Every visit exceeds expectations. They've managed to keep their food, service, and overall experience excellent after all these years. When I think of Delfina, I remember celebrating life's milestones with the people I love the most. We had the grilled calamari, hen-pancetta agnolotti, pea pasta, and grilled fish with butter beans. Loved all of them!

Came here for my friend's farewell dinner recently! The ambiance inside is lovely and I enjoyed the lighting as well as how the interior was decorated. It was very vibe-y inside. The service was also good - we had a reservation but had come a little early so we waited by the bar as they prepared our table. I had one of the pizzas, and two of my friends ordered pizza as well and my other friend got a pasta. All the food was delicious! We also got a white wine to pair with the food. The waitress was very kind to us as well even though we spent a while deciding what we wanted to order. Overall, definitely a great dining experience and I'll be coming back to try more pastas and small bites :)

The food here is innovative and excellent. Pastas are homemade. My only gripe would be the portion size is extremely small for what you get. This is to be expected on the stuffed pastas which are laborious to make but the simpler pastas would have been better with a slightly bigger portion size. Fortunately I wasn't that hungry. If I was it would have been disappointing. The quality of the food and service was good. The sauces were excellent. The pizza was overpriced. $32 for 6 small slices was not a good value.

First time back in 10+ years, and I could tell right away that their renovations from 3 years ago look gorgeous. Love the chic yet old school charm. Staff are all very friendly and attentive. Lively place that seemed to be full of locals on a Sunday evening. Had no problems walking in and getting a table right away. Really enjoyed my cocktails, but especially their Garibaldi riff, so fluffy and fruity. What we had that evening: * Anchovies on toast - worked so surprisingly well with the cold butter, which helped mellow out the saltiness of the fish. * Chicken liver crostini - surprisingly meaty and rich. * Cappeletti in brodo - so warm and soothing, the broth was so clean but flavorful, with savory little bites of pasta. * Paccheri with sole - really enjoyed seeing so many pasta dishes with fish and seafood, this worked really well too. * Pavlova - always a sucker for a good pavlova. The shell was so thin and crispy and the salted caramel ice cream was amazingly rich and decadent. We probably would've ordered more if we were hungrier because there were many other interesting looking dishes. Would definitely come back to try more.

    Spaghetti and Trippa alla Fiorentina
    Ray N.

I've been coming here for over a decade, and love it. Delfina and Cottogna are my two favorite Italian restaurants in SF. I always get the spaghetti and the trippa alla Fiorentina. The spaghetti is incredibly flavorful, the taste of tomatoes is intense and bright. I wouldn't be surprised if they boil the pasta in tomato water because the flavor is so ubiquitous and deep. I get that not everyone eats tripe, but if you do (or are offal curious), the Trippa alla Fiorentina is one of the best dishes in the city. The tripe is braised and tender, such that the umami flavor is very deep. It's covered in some crunchy bits (don't know if they're bread crumbs or some meat), which gives the dish a wonderful contrasting of textures. Everything else I got was great (radicchio salad, anchovy on toast), but these two dishes are must-haves for me and bring me back year after year.

FCF tomatoes and smoked ricotta cheese pie

Finally came into this famous neighborhood namesake, and it did not disappoint! Delfina has an incredible ambiance, stepping in from the street is a totally different vibe than the area. We were greeted very quickly, received water and placed orders all within 5 minutes! For food we got the Wood grilled octopus and the FCF tomatoes and smoked ricotta pizza. The octopus was so flavorful, definitely on the spicy side. The pizza was so perfectly crispy and flaky and the sauce and cheese combined for this absolutely amazing sweet tomato pizza. Happy I finally got to try this place!

Friendly service was a plus. Every dish we ordered, including the $86 short rib, came out room temperature like it had been sitting out for a while. If food was this temperature at home I would reheat it in the microwave. We also had dishes including simple pasta dishes come way after tables that came after us. The upsell rubs me the wrong way. They call salmon roe "steelhead caviar". It's not caviar. I get an 8 ounce jar of salmon roe from the Russian market for $4. Caviar is obviously much more expensive. steelhead and sturgeon sound similar and I wonder if they thought people would be confused. the dish said it came with lemon but my girlfriend afterward said she didn't detect any such that they charged $29 for pasta, butter, and salmon roe. Tbh idk if I would go back to try their famous pasta pomodoro because this experience makes me realize that it's just $27 for pasta and marinara sauce.

Octopus - a bit too salty and parts were overly charred. But had a nice smoky flavor.
    Vanessa O.

Really solid meal. Everything was super tasty and well cooked. Casual and a bit loud inside. Good ventilation (no smokiness from the pizza/etc oven), so you don't have to worry about your clothes and hair smelling afterward. Short ribs ($88) was a huge portion (def 2-3 ppl), and was served tomahawk style with a gigantic bigger-than-the-platter bone. Super tasty and tender so a steak knife is unnecessary. Comes with a side of cheesy potatoes which were tasty but some pieces still had the raw crunch to it, so I wouldn't necessarily order that side on its own. Bread ($7) with ricotta ($9) was nice and fluffy--think focaccia without the oiliness. I'd def get again, but it would be excellent if it were served warm. Octopus was tasty and parts were nice and tender. But parts were too charred and overall it was tasty but over salted--it could've used more celery to balance out the salt. Hubby didn't mind at all and was happy with the dish. We also got a pasta dish which was nicely prepared, as expected. Daughter got her regular plain pasta with butter, which she ate up happily. A great place for dinner, with a solid tasty menu. Make a reservation.

if I wanna chase nice vibes on a night in the city, but also eat well, this is where I go. The short rib dish is SOMETHING but it's too big for two ppl - don't order it if you don't wanna take things home. Now the pomodoro is the dish you are required to get here - so refreshing and yum. stellar servers, and OK street parking situation.

    Gluten free pasta

I appreciate that there is an in-house gluten free pasta option! I've been here several times and each meal has been consistently delicious with excellent service.

Favorite restaurant in the city! Interiors are very modern and inviting. Somehow the acoustics just work so that the place feels very lively but you can still hear the person across from you. Definitely recommend making a reservation because it is a very popular place on the weekends. We made a very last minute reservation this time so had to wait for our table, but we were able to wait at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and gave great recommendations for drinks. Tried some new things this visit and we were absolutely not disappointed. We tend to find the seasoning and freshness of ingredients at Delfina exactly to our taste. This time we ordered: Koginut Squash Sformato: a squash puree flan served with a creamy cheese, chestnuts, and balsamic vinaigrette. So many textures at once and so delicious! Prosciutto with Gnocco Fritto: amazing fried dough pillows with prosciutto. Tagliatelle al Ragu Nostrano: pasta had the perfect bite! Margherita Pizza: always classic. Sauce is not sour but sweet and dough is the perfect thickness and texture. Definitely a weekend favorite. Even better when you combine it with bi-rite ice cream afterwards. :)

    Wood Grilled Octopus $25
    Irene X.

Delfina's interior is undeniably cute and intimate - perfect for date night ambiance. We sat at the bar and our bartender wasn't that attentive. Wood-Grilled Octopus ($25): Beautiful presentation but small portion. Delfino Anchovies & Butter ($12): The clear winner! Unique presentation. Root-Down Duck Breast ($42): This is where things went downhill. Four measly slices of duck breast for forty-two dollars. The taste was mediocre at best. For comparison, Perbacco serves a generous, delicious duck breast for $40 that actually satisfies. Delfina's version left us both looking around wondering where the rest of our entrée was. The Cocktails: The Silvanito and Occhi d'Angelo were quite good. Bottom Line: With SF 7% mandate already inflating costs, Delfina's premium pricing feels especially out of touch with what you actually receive. Beautiful plating can't mask undersized portions and underwhelming flavors. There are too many other incredible restaurants in the Mission that offer better value and service. Won't be returning.

We came for dinner on restaurant week! A very popular restaurant, a reservation is definitely recommended. The restaurant itself is large with elegant decorations and art. All of the tables are placed very close together for a bustling atmosphere. Our server was quick to seat us and take our orders. The food came out a little slower but understandably so considering how busy it was. For restaurant week, I tried the truffle gnocchi for my main and panna cotta for dessert. The gnocchi was extremely tasty with a light but noticeable truffle flavor. And the panna cotta was absolutely incredible! What an amazing touch of a passion fruit too. Really loved it and can't wait to be back again

Located in the legendary Mission District of San Francisco, this wine bar is a great spot to catch up with friends and enjoy small bites and yummy crafted cocktails. Their decor is very chic and I especially loved all of the hardware, glasses, tables, and benches. This place was styled by a great design artist. Even though the place was pretty packed and can be kind of noisy, I still felt very calm amongst all the healthy plants and loved the sophisticated 70s inspired glassware. Another great feature of this place is that you can buy most of the plants because they have some for sale so after a couple of cocktails, I was ready to redecorate my whole house with all the plants. I ordered a yummy Rose blend that was super crisp. Also enjoyed the Truffle Fungi! A delicious Shiitake and oyster mushrooms with parmesan and arugula on toasted bread. Their Spanish inspired potatoes were delicious with their dipping sauce. They have lots of gatherings there and DJ sets on the weekends. Lastly, a photographer would die to take pictures here. There is no bad shot as the design artist made sure every section of this cute wine bar was picture perfect. Loved all my photos and videos. I look forward to returning to this exquisite wine bar!

The people were laughing, the drinks were flowing. It smelled really good, which we would later find out was from the food especially that Mac and cheese. We started off with different wines, some that Tom recommended based on what we told him we didn't like or did like. He apologized for our previous experience and was genuinely a nice guy. Honestly it's very admirable for a business owner to take feedback to heart and want to incorporate it. Plus he's a really cool guy when you get to know him. The staff was busy running around but still made time to come check on us. Our final verdict is we came on a bad day. This time we got the actual Waystone experience. We finally got to try the chicken bites with a creamy aioli, fries with yogurt sauce, and the star of the show was the Mac and cheese. Tik tok did live up to the hype and we will have to come back for one of their jazz nights. Be warned this place gets busy! But it's worth it.
