Had such a great dinner here! We came with a group and ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and everything was really enjoyable. A huge shoutout to our server, Jay--she was so friendly, attentive, and always checked in at just the right times. The service really made the experience even better. We tried the caviar app, oysters, bread and butter, aged beef dumplings, bay shrimp Louie, beef tartare, sweet potato tempura, one-layer lasagna, clam pot pie, kanpachi crudo, braised pork cheek, duck confit, dry-aged steak, and the bistro burger. Everything tasted great but our favorites were definitely the caviar appetizer, dumplings, one layer lasagna, braised pork cheek, and the kanpachi crudo. The lasagna was rich and comforting without feeling too heavy, and the kanpachi crudo was fresh, light, and full of flavor. The oysters were fresh, and we also really enjoyed the beef tartare and sweet potato tempura. The burger came with yummy triple-fried fries that were crispy and addictive. My husband was so excited to get a table at the spot and try their burger. The stars are for the beyond excellent service from our waitress and the burger and fries, but we otherwise did not like any of the other dishes we had. I did also like their outdoor seating in the cute covered parkletts on the sidewalk ; but once another group came it did make it the awkward in that we couldn't not hear everything they were talking about. I am all for unique menus, twists on classic dishes, trying new foods... but honestly most of what we had was just too weird and experimental to be palatable. For example take a delicious dish like a Croque Monsieur and add put whole dragon tail beans on top of it ... it just didn't work for us. (cali Croque) One layer lasagna. Grabbed a last min seat because rich table next door was fully booked. We were pleasantly surprised by our meal and the service was on point. We really enjoyed the one layer lasagna but it was a bit of a lighter meal. The dry aged strip steak was nice but not super memorable. We ended the meal with some fries/wedges and wow.. these were the best fries I've ever had.. crispy on the outside and soft and creamy like mashed potatoes inside.. and seasoned to perfection.. Had high expectations going in and made reservations almost a month in advance, but loved the food and experience! The reviews said that getting seated and food being served sometimes took a while, and I agree. RT Bistro is more casual and laid back than Rich Table, but is definitely more expensive than your average sit down spot. We ordered: - Caviar and Porcini Doughnuts (4/5): loved the doughnuts, only complaint was that they were a tad salty. Caviar flavor was kind of overpowered, but still yummy! - Snap pea Caesar salad (4/5): Mostly slathered in caesar dressing, so how could it not be good? Peas were sweet and fresh. - RT Burger (4.5/5): Soooo decadent. Definitely split this! Bottom bun got a bit soggy as it was thinner, but patty was so juicy and thick. It's like the evening was meant to be! We had canceled a future resy at RT Bistro because our schedules had changed. We found ourselves walking around the neighborhood the other day and thought we might as well give a walk in a try. The super nice gentleman at the front pushed some buttons, made some magic, and told us he had a table available but it was only for an hour. No problem for us, we are here for some sparkling wine and a burger! We threw in some bread for good measure :) We sat outside in the parklet and the weather was just perfect. Seeing the people lining up to get a spot, we felt immense gratitude for the awesome service, available table, and one of the yummiest burgers I have had in quite some time! I am not a fan of thick cut fries but wow, the crispiness on those bad boys is nothing to be messed with. Perfection! The sparkling wine was crisp and perfect for the weather. RT Bistro has been on our list since it opened, and it absolutely delivered. Rich Table's newest venture brings the same thoughtful, detail-oriented approach, and you can feel it in every single dish. The menu is a bit smaller than that of RT and has some of the best dishes from RT. First things first: the plateware. Every single dish arrived on custom-made ceramics designed specifically for RT Bistro. It sounds like a small thing, but it genuinely elevated the whole experience and made every plate feel like it was a moment. Now, for the food: The sweet potato tempura was a fantastic way to kick things off - crispy, light, and with just the right balance of sweet and savory. It is very similar to honey walnut shrimp (just substitute shrimp for sweet potato) The Dungeness crab appetizer was a must-order, and even more so when you pair it with the sourdough bread. Honestly, do not skip this combination - the bread soaks it all up perfectly! The braised pork cheek was rich and fall-apart tender. I'll be honest, it wasn't quite what I expected visually (for some reason I was expecting a whole piece of braised pork...odd me); it was like a comfort bowl of meat + mashed potatoes. The texture absolutely won me over. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection - one of those bites where everything just clicks! Really loved the fatty parts too :) The cocktail program deserves its own shoutout. We tried two and both were spot on (shiso fine, ruby "soha"); beautifully crafted and not overdone. A strong showing for a relatively new spot Oh yes, and the dessert; this time we got the chocolate cake - super moist, warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Overall, I thought RT Bistro was just fine, definitively not as impressive as Rich Table but the prices are still high. First impressions were thrown off by a 35 minute wait past our reservation time to get seated. They did provide a glass of wine while we waited and gave us a dessert on the house which made up for it. The outdoor seating threw off my experience a bit because the food cooled too fast. Overall, everything was solid but nothing blew my mind away. Caviar porcini donuts were the best thing but you can get that at Rich Table. Burger and duck were probably my next two most liked dishes. Prices again were not cheap and I think I much prefer Rich Table over RT Bistro. Maybe will come try it again since the service was really nice and they tried to make up for the setback. read more

For mains, my partner got the famed burger, which he didn't like. I got the SF duck "l'orange", which I thought was quite good. Amongst the frenzy of smash burgers, this old school thick and juicy burger with a perfect sauce stands out as a classic, what Nopa's burger used to be. Truly delicious! The duck was also great as were the apps. My only complaint is it's a bit pricey for what you get. The bread and butter is $8 and you get literally one thick piece lol. The endive pear was ~$15 and was two small skewers of pear. OH AND the fries. Not good at all tbh. Most gigantic steak fries you've ever seen, very dry and grainy inside. Rich Table's new more casual restaurant lived up to all my expectations! The food was excellent, the ambiance was a vibe and the service was great. I made a reservation online a month or so ahead of time. We started with the bistro salad, it was solid but didn't blow me away. For our mains, we got the one layer lasagna, the duck, and the burger. All were excellent! The lasagna was cheesy and had great truffle flavor. The duck was tender and delicious with the citrus sauce. It also came with Japanese rice cooked in a claypot. I've been a big fan of their sister restaurants RT Rotisserie and Rich Table for years. So when I heard they were opening up a new restaurant just a block away from them, I couldn't wait to try it out. Food wise, my partner and I got 2 appetizers and 2 entrees, but we probably should've added 1-2 more dishes to feel full . Something unique I noticed was that nearly dish had some sort of fruit. So for the kampachi appetizer, it had some mandarins and an Asian zingy sauce which came together very well. The crab was like a delicious seafoody risotto topped with grapefruit. But the seafoody and creamy taste was a lot so I wish it came with chips. The trout entree was small but the pomegranates mixed with the tartar sauce was so unique and delicious. This establishment makes some of the best red meat / chicken / fries, which means that the burger and fries were absolutely stellar. Perfectly medium rare, small enough to hold in my hands without falling apart, and the bread was so soft. The fries were even better, delightfully umami flavored like their sister restaurant, R.T. Rotisserie, but in a crispy and crunchy wedge shape. The only reason why this place isn't a 5/5 is because while we were lucky enough to snag a reservation, we still had to wait an additional 20 minutes before we got seated. Moreover, that the seats next to us were extremely close so we could hear our neighbors conversation and see their food. I also had to remind the host twice for my boxed to-go food and coat. New hot restaurant in the neighborhood, I had to book a few weeks out for an available table on a week day. Upon arrival at the restaurant at our reservation, there is a slightly longer than usual wait for our table to be ready (15min), but after that, everything from service to food, was great across the board. The sourdough bread with butter was on the house, yet it was so carefully made and super flavorful and toasted perfectly; the roasted cauliflower starter dish was quite pleasantly unique and offered almost a meaty taste in terms of its texture because it's a big chuck of cauliflower roasted whole. The RT bistro burger super juicy, but the real highlight would be the duck Lo'Range. This restaurant definitely has the potential to go for Michelin if it can improve its time management to seat guests more timely. This is NOT the place for your pre-show dinner because our service was over 1.5 hours for no drinks, one app (that is raw), 2 entrees, and a dessert (also pre-made). The food was just ok. There were a mix of hits and misses. The biggest hit for me was the duck - perfectly seared and well-rendered skin. I thought the orange sauce was good, but a bit overpowering since it coated the entire plate and was in the claypot. There wasn't much crispy rice on the bottom of the donabe either. The lemon dessert was a great way to end the night. The lasagne was really great - the crispy edges and Point Reyes truffle toma really make this dish incredibly delicious. The miss was the beef tartare. I couldn't really taste the meat because it was overwhelmed by sesame oil. The bread was hard enough to crack a tooth. The service was by far the slowest ever. Each plate had a 30 minute interlude between. I don't know if the waitress had a personal vendetta against our table, but tables of 2 sat after us finished before we did. In that moment maybe because it had cooled down by the time I tried it but I was not impressed. It's important to always give things another chance and they delivered! The Rich Table team put together another banger with RT Bistro. It's such a cute space with a warm wooden interior that makes you feel like you're at a Tahoe cabin. Our server was nice and full of energy, with the whole team looking fully coordinated. There were some familiar dishes on the menu like the porcini donuts, and everything on the menu looked delicious. Tables are a bit tight inside and we shared a six-top with a couple next to us, but we still felt very comfortable. We started with the kaluga caviar and porcini donuts, shinko pear and kanpachi crudo. All were delicious, but the pear was a favorite. The crisp bite with creamy chèvre and salty pancetta was a lovely combination. We then had the one layer lasagna, light, creamy and plenty of crispy edges. For our entrees, I had the SF duck l'orange. The crispy wing along with the tender leg meat was on point. It came with lots of flavorful chicory and had a great savory sweet balance. The rice was prepared in a donabe that had some nice crispy rice pieces as well. I love a good "burnt" clay pot rice and would have loved more crispy pieces, but I get it that not everyone enjoys that. My companions enjoyed the bistro burger and the brassica 'scampi.' The burger looked amazing and I'll have to try it next time as everyone around me seemed to be ordering it. I appreciated that the server confirmed that the scampi had greens and broccoli and not shrimp, making it a nice vegetarian option. To finish we had the ice box lemon meyer pie, nicely sweet and small enough to be a palate cleanser for the three of us. All in all, I am excited for this new place and applaud the RT team for what looks to be a great gathering space, if only they were a little bigger. As a staunch fan of RT Rotisserie, I was eager to see how RT Bistro would bridge the gap to Rich Table. Sadly it didn't stick the landing of a happy marriage between the fast casual magic of RTR and the loftier ambitions of Rich Table. The service was friendly and the dishes very photogenic, but the flavors lacked punch, the portions were miniature and the meal was disappointing. I was especially excited for the Spring Pea "Caesar" given its use of a vegetarian dressing, but for $21, I got a measly stack of bland peas. The RT Bistro Salad was more voluminous but lacked a hero flavor, merely an amalgam of roughage without a memorable component. Meanwhile, the Sweet Potato Tempura was a winner, but didn't rescue the foundering meal. RT Bistro simply doesn't make a case for itself as a worthwhile alternative to either of its siblings. Either its prices need to be adjusted for what they actually offer or the cuisine needs to level up. For my money, RTR is still the team to beat and overshadows this new kid on the block. read more

4 stars rounded down to 3 due to the slowest service ever. We had an 8:45pm reservation on a Monday, & the restaurant was still very busy. We ordered the beef tartare, lasanga, duck, & 1 dessert. The duck & crispy rice side that it comes with was very delicious! The bread that came with the tartare was a bit too hard in my opinion. The Meyer lemon dessert was very light & a good finisher. However, there was a consistent 20 minute wait inbetween each dish. When we first ordered, the waiter literally said "your food will be out swiftly", & it was in fact the opposite of swift. We consistently saw tables that were sat after us get served before us. Our total time in the restaurant was over 1.5 hours for 4 dishes ordered & no additional drinks. read more

Where do I start....the service was spot on from Brandon the somm to the kitchen and house staff that attend to us. Very professional; very friendly and inviting explaining many of the dishes and ingredients. After several attempts to get a reservation, snagged one for Father's Day evening. We started with oysters, dumplings, an RT salad with a side of bread and butter. Entries were the burger and one layer lasagna. All this served, plated, and enjoyed family style. I had such an incredible meal dining at Rich Table last year I was excited to try RT Bistro. RT Bistro is right next to Rich Table and it's presented as a bit more casual but it still has a great ambiance and many dishes that are from the Rich Table menu or variations on them. Service by Dana was excellent. She was very thorough and attentive to our table throughout our meal which was great. Some of the standout dishes for us were the small bites like Kaluga caviar w/ porcini donuts. A light airy bite of savory fried dough with a dollop of caviar. What's not to like? The bread and butter and black truffle hen egg were also excellent. We also really enjoyed the braised oxtail which comes out as one huge piece on a bed of pomme puree that is incredibly tender and delicious. I thought the burger was great and I'd recommend having it prepared medium rare as the kitchen recommends for maximum juiciness. All in all a great meal and I'm looking forward to my next visit to RT Bistro. read more

Food, service, ambiance all A+. We showed up earlier than our early reservation and we were seated. Open face lasagna, beef dumplings, burger and fries. They guy was not blown away by the burger but the fries were THE BEST. We defy you to find a better fry. Open face lasagna was very good as were the beef dumplings. Very disappointing. One memorable element, the salad. It was a seasonal special with snap peas (or english peas?) and was wonderful. The burger is vastly over-rated. (so perhaps suffers from high expectations). The candied sweet potatoes were so sweet with more of a dessert than a side dish. Hard to say on the ambiance; we were outside, it was quite rainy, and not all the heaters were working. The inside likely has much more ambiance. read more

The service and food were both outstanding. We ordered the beef dumplings, RT Bistro Salad, duck, and the RT Bistro Burger. Everything was exceptional. The beef dumplings were perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The RT Bistro Salad was honestly one of the best salads I've ever had--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. The duck was cooked perfectly, and the burger was equally delicious and expertly made. The quality of the food, combined with the excellent service, made for a fantastic dining experience. Overpriced; nothing particularly special or original. The set menu is expensive for the portions and ingredients you get, especially when 2 of the dishes are just salad. Most of the sauce flavors were a bit too sweet. Desserts were the highlight by far. 6% surcharge on top of everything just feels scummy. Very long wait in between courses as well. RT Bistro is the less formal bistro restaurant from the folks at Rich Table. Chef De cuisine Bill Wang. It is located Next door to Rich Table and is the less fine dining brother. This is a hard reservation right now, we show up 10 minutes before they opened (on a Friday) and walked in. This is a small restaurant with about a dozen tables hence the difficulty in getting a rez. The place is loud and filled with folks in the 30-50's range. High 4.5 rating on Yelp and Google. Food is very good as is the service. We still like Rich Table next door more. Prices are about the same here. Narrow menu for those with dietary requirements so take a look at it. Vegetarians beware. Safety Pluses - Online menu. Food Review: Bee's Teas ($17) Yuzu-Cinnamon verus, Robos Chai himon is an expensive non alcohol cocktail. Nice honey flavor. 8/10 Bread & Butter ($7) House made RT Sourdough wild fennel with house cultured butter was fantastic. Grilled up bread with a big dolup of butter. Yum. They sell loaves of bread to go for $9. 10/10 Shiko Pear ($15) chevre House made pancetta, lemon thyme sounds simple but works well. Sweet, savory action along with perfect fruit. 10/10 Bistro Salad ($23) Sherry Vinaigrette, carrots, herbs is beautifully arranged and piled high. Lots of radicchio. Too much sour dressing though. 8/10 Mt Lassen Trout ($35) Pomegranate tartar sauce, little gems, dijon Vinaigrette was cooked just right and a solid portion size. The pomegranate sauce was a bit hit or miss. 8.5/10 SF Duck L'orange ($49) mandarin Sweet n Sour cherry orange honey, luna rice was the best entree that night. Several medium rare pieces of duck in a nice sauce. Koshihikari rice topped with cooked radicchio comes in a claypot. got dinner here with friends, general consensus is that it is fine. our cocktails were great, particularly liked shiso fine and squeeze the day. hamachi crudo did indeed have some five spice and strawberries were sweet, the sauce was overpowering imo. dungeness crab thermidor was interesting but i didn't notice the miso and don't think the pomelo was a particularly good pairing. one layer lasagna sounded interesting but really reminded me of a cheese 蛋饼(egg pancake)/omelette. had high hopes for the duck breast, it seemed to be crusted in rainbow peppercorn but there wasn't much flavor there. accompanying sweet sauce was too overwhelming and reminded me of american chinese food rather than duck l'orange. rice, though it comes with the duck breast, does nothing with it and is kind of oily (?) reminiscent of 锅巴 but not crisped enough. pork cheek was the best well rounded dish probably because the fusion touches aren't as apparent. i see that they're trying to play with asian flavors but none came off well to me. i am whelmed. our waiter was very nice, space is pretty small read more

Excellent service, attentive and gracious. don't miss the cauliflower or sweet potatoes - I would go back just for these two dishes. Acoustics are really good considering it's a small space.
