$1/oyster (6 max per person) at happy hour and house wine (half off a bottle)
    Lizzie S.

5 stars for the Happy Hour and the fact that it's the same owner as renowned Acquerello! I walk and run by here pretty often, but didn't go in until recently. I would take pictures of their sign outside that said $1 oysters at Happy Hour (max 6 per person.) They were seasoned tastefully and well. We didn't have a plan this Friday night for food--we just thought "Happy Hour" and see how we feel. We were vibing after the oysters and a half-off bottle of wine and enjoying the bar, vibe, service, and ambiance so much, we decided to stay for dinner! We added on the - Calamari fritti ($24, $15 @ happy hour) - CHARRED ROMAINE 'CAESAR STYLE' Meyer lemon, anchovy 24-month Parmigiano Reggiano $17 - Lobster lasagna (lobster, prawns, salsa rossa) $37 I wanted a vegetable and liked the lemon in the caesar style romaine--it was like an upscale, unique caesar salad. The calamari was crispy and solid, more of a subdued flavor than most calamari apps. I cannot recommend the lobster lasagna enough. It was rich, flavorful, had good sauce, and they were generous with the lobster portion. It didn't look large but it was filling. Will be back for sure and will continue to rave about the Happy Hour oysters, lobster lasagna, service, and vibe! It was packed once Happy Hour ended (more prime time.)

Food here will certainly hit the spot if you're craving Italian. We came here for dinner to celebrate my sister's birthday and it was great. The place is dimly hit, however, so better suited for date night. Our cocktails were recommended by our server and while not the tastiest, they were strong. I loved my pasta, which was the Drunken Mafaldine. Super comforting - my only wish is that there was more! Portion sizes leaned on the smaller side.

I frequent Sorella often, always to stop by the bar for a quick drink and snack after a long day, and of course my go to when dining with out of town friends. Recently I asked for something new, fresh, sweet and fruity. The bartenders recommended a delicious hibiscus and passion fruit cocktail for me and my friend. We had 3 Each! As always the starters and whipped carrots always hit the spot. Thank Rochelle and Parker for another great afternoon. I will be back!!

Probably one of the best Italian and pasta place I've been to so far in SF! I came for $1 happy hour oysters and stayed for the pasta and dessert. We got seated at the bar since we didn't have a reservation but it was perfect! We got the oysters, house white wine and tartare to share! Everything was perfect and fresh. Then, we got the braised short rib cappellacci and drunken mafaldine to share. The braised short rib was so soft and perfect. Then we got the tiramisu (5/5) and goat cheese yogurt (3/5 - just not to my preference. I will come back again to try more of the menu as the pasta dishes were amazing!

The pasta was the star of the show. The appetizer budino is also a must try. The service was good and Ambience was fun. I would totally go again!!!

Passed this place so many times finally checked it out. Oysters Drew us in for happy hour and they were lightly seasoned and so good! Then when with the lobster lasagna, budino, anchovy crostini, and tartare. The lasagna was different than your typical lasagna and it almost tasted like a crab texture inside. The budino was custardy, to be expected. My faves were actually the tartare and crostini. The drinks were also fabulous, the mezcal Paloma, and frantelli were both obviously mezcal and for a girl who loves mezcal..chefs kiss! Overall cute spot on Polk, def would come back for happy hour!

Had a solid dining experience at Sorella! Came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. The ambiance is a nice casual, with some tables even having smaller children. We had a reservation at 6:15PM and arrived a bit earlier, hoping to get a spot at the bar for some happy hour bites. There were spots and we got to order a few items - namely the oysters, arancini, and anchovy toast. You can't beat the oysters here for $1 each - solid size, and sweet and fresh! The anchovy toast was also full of flavor and incredibly tasty. We got seated at our actual table afterwards. Service the entire night was great! Our waters were constantly refilled. Our waitress Sarah was kind and sweet. Here's what we ordered - - Stuffed calamari - Solid dish, the butter beans were so crispy and good! - Charred romaine - This had good char flavor, just a massive dish! - Drunken mafaldine - Tender beef and the noodles had a unique texture, but the flavor was disappointing. Lacked salt and was bland. - Lobster lasagna - Tasty and would recommend! Generous with the lobster and had a flavorful sauce. - Petrale sole - Probably my favorite dish of the night! Crispy fish with a nice white wine butter sauce. Dessert: - Tiramisu - we heard good things about this. It was nicely presented, but it was too dense for my liking. - Warm citrus cake - was recommended by our waitress and was so good! A balanced dessert and paired well with gelato. Dishes were generous in size and we left stuffed. We had a great experience and would come back for happy hour for sure.

We had a reservation that was ready for us when we arrived. Our server was really nice. My french 75 was not made well unfortunately. My friend's cocktails were a bit of a miss for them too but they ordered from the menu. The food was great! The focaccia, the brussels sprouts and all of our pastas. We cleared every plate! I really loved that it was a calm atmosphere so we could talk to each other at the table and hear well. It's also really cute aesthetic inside.

Wonderful spot on Polk. We enjoyed everything we ordered, and appreciated that the drinks came pretty strong (neither of us even finished). In particular the pasta dishes were strong - really fresh, flavorful, and clearly made well. Service was pretty good, relatively attentive. The overall experience was very pleasant and we will definitely be back.

I've only come for happy hour (at the bar only) but it's a great deal. 6 max 1$ oysters pre-seasoned with mignotte and the anchovy toast were so delicious. They have additional food items like croquettes and veal tartare too that looked good for next time. Friendly bartenders and there's wine, beer and cocktails on the happy hour list. We got 8$ house wine glasses - half off wine bottles too. Great ambience for an early happy hour!

This is my third visit to Sorella, and I was so blown away I decided to write a second review! from the moment I stepped in the door, I was overwhelmed by a sense of sincere friendliness and care. The host was so sweet, and didn't hesitate to lay out our seating options for the night. We opted to sit at the bar, since we initially came for a glass of wine. Parker and Rochelle were the kindest bartenders ever. Despite feeling underdressed, they made us feel extremely welcomed. We ended up trying two pastas, both were fabulous. I can't wait to have their seasonal pumpkin caramelle again. It was so good, we had to order their housemade foccaia to soak up the sauce. The cocktails beautifully mirrored the newly strung christmas decorations. It truly felt like a break from reality. I plan on coming again soon. Shoutout to Fernanda, the talented head chef who we were lucky enough to meet, and Kelsey, the assistant manager who explained each pasta and helped us navigate the beverage selection.

Kabocha and butternut squash in glazed brown butter and balsamic with Grana Padano
    Vivian Y.

Sorella continues to be one of our favorite modern Italian spots in the city. This was our second visit, and somehow it felt even better than the first. Huge thank you to Brandon and Chef Fernanda Baggio for the warm, exceptional hospitality. We started with fresh, briny oysters that had a clean, crisp finish and set the tone for the night. The meatballs were incredibly moist and flavorful, while the stuffed calamari was tender, beautifully seasoned, and one of the quiet highlights of the meal. The pastas are where Sorella really shines. The yellow sweet corn agnolotti was bright, silky, and naturally sweet. The kabocha and butternut squash pasta arrived glazed in brown butter and balsamic with Grana Padano that is rich, comforting, and wonderfully balanced. The potato gnocchi with duck bolognese was pure comfort food, with pillowy gnocchi soaking up every bit of the deep, savory sauce. And the lobster and prawn lasagna was simply outstanding, with delicate layers of sweet seafood and a finish that made it feel special. The cocktail program is equally thoughtful. Every drink was balanced, well-crafted, and added an elevated touch to the experience. Sorella blends the soul of fine dining with the warmth of a neighborhood restaurant. From the hospitality to the execution of every dish, everything feels intentional but never stiff or overly formal. We're already looking forward to our next visit for both our favorite staples and whatever new creations the team dreams up next.

We had a very good meal here! The food came out hot, fresh and fast. The staff were funny, friendly & charming! The ambiance was simple, modern and moody in a great way. The food was unique they put a lil twist on classics. The most amazing seasonal pasta we had in a long time! It a 4.5 /5 on the food and a 5/5 for everything else! Go try it out for yourself

    Is there a dress code?

There is no formal code AFAIK. The atmosphere is pretty informal, so a wide range of clothes can be seen. The medium of what I have observed is business casual.

    Are there vegetarian options?

Yes. You should be able to see some of the options in the Photos (Menu) section here.

Do you take walk ins or is it reservation only?

They take walk ins but don't be that arse that shows up at 7 on a Friday and expect to get seated.

    Is there outside dining?

It wasn't just pre-pandemic, it was when north beach was uber community oriented. *sigh* Those days may be gone, but petite lil's is filling that sense of community void rather nicely. As soon as we walked in, we perched ourselves at the bar, & we were made to feel nothing but welcome. I had H with me, & she & I tend to do that thing where we "don't know" what we should order, as if we've never been to a bar before, even though god knows, we have. We are many things, but ingénues are not one of them. No doubt it would be a tired game for a bartender lacking in prowess, personality, & patience. Fortunately for us, you won't find that kind of bartender here. Because we are not ingénues, our days of ordering silly things (fireball), "insider" things (green chartreuse, fernet), or just stupid things (fireball) are happily behind us. We are Napa Valley & wine lovers so of course we naturally default to wine. Another truth that makes that initial game of "what should we get" so ridiculous. After carefully perusing the impressive menu, we did order wine, but we noted the martini and Negroni options. Hungry? The menu is full of stellar options; caviar, oysters (both raw or broiled), steak frites, charcuterie...even French omelettes. They do a "booth steak," a 32oz tomahawk! $99 (limit only 2 per night). We had such a great time, instead of meeting up with my husband elsewhere when he got off work as planned, we had him join us here. I saw his face light up when he saw that tomahawk on the menu so needless to say it's now on the list. It's a huge space (always was), so it's perfect for a night out w all your peeps, & any game day/night. It was our first time, but we were treated like we've been here a hundred times. Everyone was. Incredible menu. Great vibe. We will be back for dinner and... everything. 5 stars
