The pasta was the star of the show. The appetizer budino is also a must try. The service was good and Ambience was fun. I would totally go again!!!

Passed this place so many times finally checked it out. Oysters Drew us in for happy hour and they were lightly seasoned and so good! Then when with the lobster lasagna, budino, anchovy crostini, and tartare. The lasagna was different than your typical lasagna and it almost tasted like a crab texture inside. The budino was custardy, to be expected. My faves were actually the tartare and crostini. The drinks were also fabulous, the mezcal Paloma, and frantelli were both obviously mezcal and for a girl who loves mezcal..chefs kiss! Overall cute spot on Polk, def would come back for happy hour!

Wonderful spot on Polk. We enjoyed everything we ordered, and appreciated that the drinks came pretty strong (neither of us even finished). In particular the pasta dishes were strong - really fresh, flavorful, and clearly made well. Service was pretty good, relatively attentive. The overall experience was very pleasant and we will definitely be back.

I've only come for happy hour (at the bar only) but it's a great deal. 6 max 1$ oysters pre-seasoned with mignotte and the anchovy toast were so delicious. They have additional food items like croquettes and veal tartare too that looked good for next time. Friendly bartenders and there's wine, beer and cocktails on the happy hour list. We got 8$ house wine glasses - half off wine bottles too. Great ambience for an early happy hour!

This is my third visit to Sorella, and I was so blown away I decided to write a second review! from the moment I stepped in the door, I was overwhelmed by a sense of sincere friendliness and care. The host was so sweet, and didn't hesitate to lay out our seating options for the night. We opted to sit at the bar, since we initially came for a glass of wine. Parker and Rochelle were the kindest bartenders ever. Despite feeling underdressed, they made us feel extremely welcomed. We ended up trying two pastas, both were fabulous. I can't wait to have their seasonal pumpkin caramelle again. It was so good, we had to order their housemade foccaia to soak up the sauce. The cocktails beautifully mirrored the newly strung christmas decorations. It truly felt like a break from reality. I plan on coming again soon. Shoutout to Fernanda, the talented head chef who we were lucky enough to meet, and Kelsey, the assistant manager who explained each pasta and helped us navigate the beverage selection.

Sorella continues to be one of our favorite modern Italian spots in the city. This was our second visit, and somehow it felt even better than the first. Huge thank you to Brandon and Chef Fernanda Baggio for the warm, exceptional hospitality. We started with fresh, briny oysters that had a clean, crisp finish and set the tone for the night. The meatballs were incredibly moist and flavorful, while the stuffed calamari was tender, beautifully seasoned, and one of the quiet highlights of the meal. The pastas are where Sorella really shines. The yellow sweet corn agnolotti was bright, silky, and naturally sweet. The kabocha and butternut squash pasta arrived glazed in brown butter and balsamic with Grana Padano that is rich, comforting, and wonderfully balanced. The potato gnocchi with duck bolognese was pure comfort food, with pillowy gnocchi soaking up every bit of the deep, savory sauce. And the lobster and prawn lasagna was simply outstanding, with delicate layers of sweet seafood and a finish that made it feel special. The cocktail program is equally thoughtful. Every drink was balanced, well-crafted, and added an elevated touch to the experience. Sorella blends the soul of fine dining with the warmth of a neighborhood restaurant. From the hospitality to the execution of every dish, everything feels intentional but never stiff or overly formal. We're already looking forward to our next visit for both our favorite staples and whatever new creations the team dreams up next.

We had a very good meal here! The food came out hot, fresh and fast. The staff were funny, friendly & charming! The ambiance was simple, modern and moody in a great way. The food was unique they put a lil twist on classics. The most amazing seasonal pasta we had in a long time! It a 4.5 /5 on the food and a 5/5 for everything else! Go try it out for yourself

I absolutely adore this spot. Initially the service wasn't amazing from the hostess, she gave us some attitude and seemed annoyed since we wanted to sit at the bar to enjoy a bit of happy hour before sitting down. But the rest of the staff, including the bartender were nice and very helpful. Cocktail menu - they have a delicious house spritz and their espresso martini is absolutely peak! I do notice from separate visits it tastes a bit different depending on who makes your drink. It would be nice to have some more consistency there. I'd advise against the risotto martini. Although I am in love with the concept, it doesn't give risotto at all. It tastes like a regular dry martini with some additional herbal notes. For HH you can get 50% off for wine, so definitely a recommended spot if you're looking for something cheaper! They also have the most incredible HH $1 oysters. You'll have to be quick though! It's until they sell out and their selection is limited. All the dishes are absolutely delicious AND stunning. The best lobster lasagna I've had. Their sauce was unctuous and had a perfect amount of acidity to match the richness. The pork was incredibly moist and flavorful, great for sharing with the table. The pasta dishes are all stellar, I'd recommend the beef cheeks and stuffed pasta. For dessert, the tiramisu was my favorite. The affogato is a good second if you haven't already had 1 too many espresso martinis. Another negative thing I'd note is that when the sun is lower if you're sitting facing the direction of it, you will be blinded by it. Their blinds are sheer.

Recommend to visit during happy hour. Oyster and house wine deal is great and pasta was a bit salty but overall experience was great. It's pretty full but service was great as bartender who took the order and make drinks was friendly and easy to talk to. Great vibe with italian food and full bar.

We had dinner here a few months back, and it was a great experience from start to finish. The space has a cool, modern vibe--stylish without trying too hard--and the atmosphere felt lively but not too loud. We ordered the tuna crudo, veal agnolotti, and lamb chop, along with a bottle of wine, and everything hit the mark. The crudo was super fresh and light--great way to start. The veal agnolotti was probably our favorite dish of the night--rich, comforting, and full of flavor. The lamb chop was cooked just right and had a really nice balance with whatever sauce they had going on. Service was easygoing and helpful, and the pacing of the meal was spot on. It felt like the kind of place you could go for a nice date night or a chill dinner with friends and still get quality food and wine without it being too formal.

Everything was great! We came on a Saturday night & there were no regular tables left so we sat at the bar. We only had to wait about 5 minutes to seat 2. There is full service at the bar so we had no issues! Warm lighting inside & great for a date night. For drinks we got a fratello, espresso martini, & red wine which were all yummy & smooth. We got the focaccia which was good. The Parmesan budino was delicious & cheesy. The drunken mafaldine was my favorite dish & was so flavorful. Would definitely want to come back again to try their other dishes.

The kind of night where every dish is your favorite. We kept ordering more because everything was that good. And somehow, food tastes even better when you're with the right people Thank you our server Jocelyn for making it so special! The atmosphere inside is also nice. Definitely, find a way to go back again!

Came here for a family member's bridal shower and our experience was great! We ordered the focaccia and warm Parmesan budino for appetizers but they were a bit disappointing. The focaccia was okay; it wasn't that flavorful and was a bit too light for me. The parmesan budino was such a tiny portion for $20 and the chips were so thin and barely tasted like anything. The mains were better. We got the potato gnocchi and the lobster lasagna and both were tasty. I wish the gnocchi portion was bigger and was filled with something inside as it tasted a bit plain and there wasn't enough duck in the dish but the duck bolognese sauce was light and refreshing. The lobster lasagna was my favorite dish as the sauce was so creamy and thick and you could taste the lobster in every bite. I didn't have ricotta and strawberry torta but my family said it was delicious. Overall, I had a pretty good experience here but I wouldn't order the appetizers next time!

    Is there a dress code?

There is no formal code AFAIK. The atmosphere is pretty informal, so a wide range of clothes can be seen. The medium of what I have observed is business casual.

    Are there vegetarian options?

Yes. You should be able to see some of the options in the Photos (Menu) section here.

Do you take walk ins or is it reservation only?

They take walk ins but don't be that arse that shows up at 7 on a Friday and expect to get seated.

    Is there outside dining?

    Not yet!

The burrito salad was alright, could have used a little more flavor in my opinion. I really like the small plates and sharing atmosphere of this place, and appreciate all of the vegetarian forward options. The space is small and intimate, definitely great for a date night or girls night! I will say if you make a reservation (I'd recommend, it's a small place and gets busy) be sure to be prompt as part of our group was running about 10 minutes late, and the servers kindly let us know we only had the table for an hour and a half, which is fairly strict on weekends.

We also ordered the non-happy hour burrata salad and the filet kebab. Our server was very attentive, though our main food items were somehow forgotten and we had to remind them.. but once they arrived, everything was great! I loved the pomegranate in the burrata salad. I also appreciated the non-alcoholic options, including my favorite Fentiman's rose lemonade. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for happy hour. My only small critique is the restroom, since the entire restaurant is so classy and chic, it would have been the perfect finishing touch if the restrooms matched the same vibe.

The people were laughing, the drinks were flowing. It smelled really good, which we would later find out was from the food especially that Mac and cheese. We started off with different wines, some that Tom recommended based on what we told him we didn't like or did like. He apologized for our previous experience and was genuinely a nice guy. Honestly it's very admirable for a business owner to take feedback to heart and want to incorporate it. Plus he's a really cool guy when you get to know him. The staff was busy running around but still made time to come check on us. Our final verdict is we came on a bad day. This time we got the actual Waystone experience. We finally got to try the chicken bites with a creamy aioli, fries with yogurt sauce, and the star of the show was the Mac and cheese. Tik tok did live up to the hype and we will have to come back for one of their jazz nights. Be warned this place gets busy! But it's worth it.

Yes, the bites hit (shoutout to the watermelon salad). But what really makes Waystone magic is the people. Everyone who works here is warm, funny, and present in a way that makes you feel like you belong, whether it's your first visit or your 50th. Live jazz nights here are their own kind of therapy. I once saw a harpist who made me feel like I was floating inside the music. No cover, no pressure, just ridiculously good musicians making the whole place glow. One thing I love: the rotating local art. The walls change every so often as new artists take over, and it completely shifts the energy of the space. You might not love every piece, but that's kind of the point--it's alive, it's personal, and it's supporting real artists in SF. And if you do love something, you can take it home (yep, everything's for sale). Whether you're here for the jazz, the wine, the art, or the people.. waystone shows up with soul. I'd give it six stars if I could.
