Interior dining

Cozy wine bar nestled in the quaint neighborhood of Russian Hill. Obviously an excellent variety of wines. I was expecting the typical charcuterie options, however Union Larder offers a wonderful variety of food options that are perfect to share!

Cheese dip, hummus, wine.

It was packed for a rainy Saturday. Had to wait a little for service and around 15mins to seat at a shared table. They have interesting wines. I enjoyed the cheese dip and hummus. Too loud to keep a conversation but the place is nice.

Stopped by for after dinner drinks on a Friday. The place was pretty packed and you are kinda standing on top of ppl eating at the center table- but it is a cool open kitchen atmosphere. Definitely an intimate space, great for dates or catching up with friends. The Lambrusco was a little fruity for my taste but it was surprisingly dry (which I liked)

If I could design a wine bar from scratch it would be Union Larder. The interior is gorgeous and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The wine list is extensive and they have a lot of great bites (definitely try their charcuterie boards) to enjoy will sipping a glass of delicious wine. If you ever find yourself in Russian Hill this place is a must.

I love this wine bar! It's intimate, cozy, sleek, and moody - perfect for wine lovers, dates, or friends. The wine list is very extensive (many more choices than Verjus even tho I love that place too). Very first date appropriate but also good for many dates in. I like sitting at the bar, partially bc the bartenders are super nice and knowledgeable. The wine is actually good!! And so many options to choose from! We like the Scribe, Union Sacre chilled red, and Riesling. Overall, a very vibey date spot - you can't go wrong.

Union Larder is a neighborhood gem, and I will find any excuse to come here for a glass of wine and charcuterie options. Staff is usually helpful in offering recommendations. The casual cozy/moody ambience is my favorite part about this place, perfect for a date night or catching up with a friend at happy hour (especially on a rainy day looking out the gorgeous tall windows). There are small tables and some bar seating, which accommodates smaller groups nicely. Busy during peek hours, but I have always walked in and gotten a seat. Expect SF prices. Looking forward to our next visit.

I wish I liked this place as much as everyone else has hyped it up, but it definitely fell short of my expectations. Had to wait almost a half hour to get in, which I wasn't inherently annoyed by, however the situation of standing in line is quite uncomfortable. We were scrunched up by the bathroom, and kept having to play this awkward dance of dodging back and forth to let people enter and leave the bathroom while also waiting in line and trying to enjoy a glass while waiting. The place itself has a great vibe, buzzing about with groups of friends and couples (lots of them), so definitely a date night type of spot. Got one of the meat & cheese platters, and it was OK at best. Maybe I'll give the spot another shot, but as it stands now was not the biggest fan.

Union Larder in San Francisco is the perfect spot for a cozy, relaxed outing--whether you're looking for a charming date night or a place to catch up with your friends. You can grab a table by the window & watch the iconic San Francisco cable cars glide by, adding a special touch to your visit. During my stop, we opted for a few drinks and the cheese board, and both were fantastic. They even have non-alcoholic options. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed for a relaxed experience. I would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu!

Even when its super crowded and I have to hunt down parking for 1 hr this place is worth it. I like that every time I go there the wine and the apps come out well presented. Yes, the waiters sometimes forget and you have remind them a couple of times but if you come on a busy night expect that. One of my favorite wine bars in SF and will always chose it above any other.

Fondue and spring salad
Abigael K.

I come here frequently and often leave them reviews and thought I'd leave another because I tried some new things on the menu this time including the fondue and the spring salad. I was not impressed by the fondue or the spring salad. They were good but not worth ordering again in my opinion. We always love all the wine we have when we come here. I think the best thing to order on the menu in terms of food is a meat and cheeseboard which you can customize to be the meat and cheese you want most.

Orange wine

This is the cutest wine bar you have to check out on your next night out boasting an extensive list of wines and small bites, you'll definitely find something for everyone here! the workers are also so knowledgeable and were able to give some great recommendations both for food and wine, so I'd definitely ask them if you're unsure about anything on the menu!! -- -- -- pictured: " glass of orange riesling // I can't remember what exact orange wine I tried (as they have a few on their menu) because we asked for the recommendation of the worker but this was deliciousthe robust and dry notes of the orange wine paired well with the small bites we ordered, making it a great match! " house made charcuterie ( 2 meats - $20 + 2 cheeses - $20) // we chose the prosciutto americano and the bresaola (cured beef) for the meats, both of which were so tender and flavorful. for the cheeses, we opted for one soft cheese and one harder one paired with honey and a local preserve!

Come for the wine but stay for the meat and cheese selection! You can choose 2-4 in each category and pair with wine. One of my favorite date spots in SF. Seating is limited but the space is cozy. Would highly recommend!

Meatballs
Sifath M.

The place is such a cute date spot. It's such a small little bar but the vibes are amazing. The service was a little slow but there was only one person working at the time. The server however did help us throughout the menu and helped us pick a glass of wine. I'm a big white wine kinda girl and it tasted amazing. Meatballs- 4/5 - i loved it. it tasted amazing and it had such great flavor. It was the right amount of size to split without feeling heavy. The bread however was so hard. It was like rock hard and it just did not taste great. Burrata- 2/5 -i did not like this. the bread was also so hard and so hard to eat. the burrata itself felt like i was eating grass as it had such a grassy taste. Not my favorite dish Overall i did like the ambiance of this place and would come back for another date night!

The burrito salad was alright, could have used a little more flavor in my opinion. I really like the small plates and sharing atmosphere of this place, and appreciate all of the vegetarian forward options. The space is small and intimate, definitely great for a date night or girls night! I will say if you make a reservation (I'd recommend, it's a small place and gets busy) be sure to be prompt as part of our group was running about 10 minutes late, and the servers kindly let us know we only had the table for an hour and a half, which is fairly strict on weekends.

We also ordered the non-happy hour burrata salad and the filet kebab. Our server was very attentive, though our main food items were somehow forgotten and we had to remind them.. but once they arrived, everything was great! I loved the pomegranate in the burrata salad. I also appreciated the non-alcoholic options, including my favorite Fentiman's rose lemonade. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for happy hour. My only small critique is the restroom, since the entire restaurant is so classy and chic, it would have been the perfect finishing touch if the restrooms matched the same vibe.

The people were laughing, the drinks were flowing. It smelled really good, which we would later find out was from the food especially that Mac and cheese. We started off with different wines, some that Tom recommended based on what we told him we didn't like or did like. He apologized for our previous experience and was genuinely a nice guy. Honestly it's very admirable for a business owner to take feedback to heart and want to incorporate it. Plus he's a really cool guy when you get to know him. The staff was busy running around but still made time to come check on us. Our final verdict is we came on a bad day. This time we got the actual Waystone experience. We finally got to try the chicken bites with a creamy aioli, fries with yogurt sauce, and the star of the show was the Mac and cheese. Tik tok did live up to the hype and we will have to come back for one of their jazz nights. Be warned this place gets busy! But it's worth it.

Yes, the wine is excellent..(not selling you 'natural' actively fermenting bottles) thoughtfully curated... the cab franc , interesting without being pretentious. Yes, the bites hit (shoutout to the watermelon salad). But what really makes Waystone magic is the people. Everyone who works here is warm, funny, and present in a way that makes you feel like you belong, whether it's your first visit or your 50th. Live jazz nights here are their own kind of therapy. I once saw a harpist who made me feel like I was floating inside the music. No cover, no pressure, just ridiculously good musicians making the whole place glow. One thing I love: the rotating local art. The walls change every so often as new artists take over, and it completely shifts the energy of the space. You might not love every piece, but that's kind of the point--it's alive, it's personal, and it's supporting real artists in SF. And if you do love something, you can take it home (yep, everything's for sale). Whether you're here for the jazz, the wine, the art, or the people.. waystone shows up with soul. I'd give it six stars if I could.
