This place is in such a nice area and it's quite cute and small. I really enjoyed their wine selection and had a wonderful time... After buying two bottles of wine and paying quite an expensive tab my friends and I decided to play one last hand of our card game before leaving. Not 10 minutes after paying the 200$ bill the server rushed us out and told us that we needed to leave to make room for others. I totally understand that this isn't her fault and is due to the high volume of customers but this was quite off putting after such a great experience otherwise. I would recommend but if you are looking for a place to chit chat and play cards with friends you are much better off going elsewhere. I don't think I will be coming back again after this experience. read more

I think there are lots of better wine bars to choose from in the area. Let me start off by saying our initial server was a super chill guy, and they have a great wine selection to choose from. My two main gripes lay with the ambience of the place - if you don't get a table the bar seating is quite squished, and the fact that after dropping $170 on two bottles of wine we were quickly escorted out the moment we were finished to make room for potential customers. I totally understand doing this if it was a packed house, but there wasn't a single person waiting, left a sour taste in my mouth and feel like if you are spending a pretty penny on service you should be able to enjoy the establishment a little bit after you have finished your drinks. Very vibey wine bar! Loved the ambiance inside -- feels very cozy and intimate. Came here with a friend and we sat at the bar. It was super lively on a Sunday night but not too loud where it was hard to hear someone. The service was also super friendly and we didn't feel rushed at all. I got the non alcoholic apertif spritz which I enjoyed a lot! The short rib raclette dish ($25) was also surprisingly filling / a lot of meat for the size of the cast iron. It comes with potatoes and lots of cheese and crunchy pickles. The house cheese dip wasn't my fav and I wish the bread had been toasted/warmed up as it was served rather cold. The other dishes on the menu looked super good so I'd definitely come back to try more (eyeing the burrata)! The charcuterie/cheese selection also looks fun. read more

The wine list is very extensive (many more choices than Verjus even tho I love that place too). Very first date appropriate but also good for many dates in. Union Larder is a neighborhood gem, and I will find any excuse to come here for a glass of wine and charcuterie options. Staff is usually helpful in offering recommendations. The casual cozy/moody ambience is my favorite part about this place, perfect for a date night or catching up with a friend at happy hour (especially on a rainy day looking out the gorgeous tall windows). There are small tables and some bar seating, which accommodates smaller groups nicely. Busy during peek hours, but I have always walked in and gotten a seat. Expect SF prices. I wish I liked this place as much as everyone else has hyped it up, but it definitely fell short of my expectations. Had to wait almost a half hour to get in, which I wasn't inherently annoyed by, however the situation of standing in line is quite uncomfortable. We were scrunched up by the bathroom, and kept having to play this awkward dance of dodging back and forth to let people enter and leave the bathroom while also waiting in line and trying to enjoy a glass while waiting. The place itself has a great vibe, buzzing about with groups of friends and couples (lots of them), so definitely a date night type of spot. Got one of the meat & cheese platters, and it was OK at best. Maybe I'll give the spot another shot, but as it stands now was not the biggest fan. read more

Even when its super crowded and I have to hunt down parking for 1 hr this place is worth it. I like that every time I go there the wine and the apps come out well presented. Yes, the waiters sometimes forget and you have remind them a couple of times but if you come on a busy night expect that. I was not impressed by the fondue or the spring salad. They were good but not worth ordering again in my opinion. We always love all the wine we have when we come here. The place is such a cute date spot. It's such a small little bar but the vibes are amazing. The service was a little slow but there was only one person working at the time. The server however did help us throughout the menu and helped us pick a glass of wine. I'm a big white wine kinda girl and it tasted amazing. Meatballs- 4/5 - i loved it. it tasted amazing and it had such great flavor. It was the right amount of size to split without feeling heavy. The bread however was so hard. It was like rock hard and it just did not taste great. Burrata- 2/5 -i did not like this. the bread was also so hard and so hard to eat. the burrata itself felt like i was eating grass as it had such a grassy taste. I regularly visit the wine stand across the street, which I love and decided to give this trendy place across the street a try for once...I wasn't too happy. The noise level in here is an 11/10. People literally screaming. The place is tiny and cramped. Since I was flying solo, I grabbed a seat at the bar where a man had his dog taking up half the floor space in the tiny bar. The servers were crowding around the bar to pickup orders and kept bumping me when they were trying to get around the bar to deliver their drinks or food, no one apologized or said excuse me when they did even though it happened numerous times during my short stay. The menu isn't too creative for a wine bar. I did like the drinks I had, although the red wine was a little too warm for my taste. If I was hungry I would've tried to cheese and charcuterie which looked good actually. Overall, I just think I'll go back to my spot across the street for a more casual and enjoyable drink. read more

I am long overdue for a review for this place. I have been here dozens of times, and I stopped by last night. I love their selection of wines. Most of them are very reasonably priced, especially the ones that are on tap. If you don't know what you want, everyone who works there is super knowledgeable and will recommend something for you. I keep coming back here for their cheese and meat boards. I love to ask them to just make me something, and they'll put together a combo of cheese and meats for you. Every time I go, I end up taking photos of their cheese menu because every cheese is exceptional and I want to buy it at home. When you arrive, you wait outside the door and show your vaccination card and then they will show you seating that is available. Pre-COVID, you would just walk in and find a spot yourself. This place does get crowded, so I recommend coming on the earlier side if you have a group larger than 2. We arrived with 4 people on a Friday at 6 PM and there was only one spot left where 4 people could fit. This place is great for a date night, night out with friends, pre-dinner drinks, etc. Such a wonderful place that I can't recommend enough. read more

It is a medium-sized place with lots of more bar seating style with stools. It has a great ambiance and is perfect for casual drinks or dates. They also have great service and offered a tasting of the wine and recommendations on food. They have a very wide selection of wines and natural wines - I opted for the orange riesling which was amazing and very unique. They also had many food options including meats, cheese, and larger entrees (sandwiches, etc.). We opted for a meat board and 3 types for $24; all of them were so delicious and gave a large serving of each. I especially liked the duck liver mousse, which went great with the warm bread they served and even refilled when we finished! read more

We'd been sitting for a while without being helped, so we weren't sure if it was an order-at-the-bar kind of place until we asked. It was a super busy night and we were seated in the back, by the entrance, so it was very likely an honest oversight! Not too long after, we put in an order for a couple glasses of wine and a charcuterie plate, and let them know of allergies. When the food arrived, it had the specific allergen we'd alerted them about on the plate. As soon as we brought it to their attention, they fixed the order for us.
