First off - when you're in the neighborhood and the sun is setting this place becomes the vibe. Cabin-ey vibes. Moody and dim lit with a wooden bar and tables. If you hate overhead lighting this is the place for you. It is a place you should enjoy a good wine or a rotating craft beer, and on a cold night gives subtle but potentially raucous apres ski vibes. If that's not your vibe then have a seat and take in the excellent selection of niche wines widely unavailable elsewhere int the city near the back- where you can enjoy and purchase to go bottles. Pretty strange experience here. Upon arriving, I asked a couple simple questions and was met with coldness and a "holier-than-thou" attitude from the guy behind the bar. The place was nearly empty, so it's not like they were too busy to greet a new customer or even make eye contact, at a minimum. They also charge a 3% "Credit Card Surcharge Fee" which is just lame and borderline offensive for a beer that already costs $10. Lastly, the bathroom (or one of them if there are multiple) is borderline creepy inside. read more

Our group of 4 was able to snag a table in the very back, which was neat because it felt like our own little VIP room. The food menu here is very limited but offers just enough snacks to accompany the main star here, which is THE WINE. Feel free to stroll to the back and pick out a bottle of wine on display. The selection is generous and vast. Fool's Errand is small but mighty, truly a gem on the Divis corridor. I'm going to sound so old, but damn is this place dark and loud. Definitely didn't give off the traditional wine bar vibe. We came in on a Friday night around 7:30 and the place was packed. The front room had a decent amount of large tables and all were completely filled. We rounded the corner and there was some bar style seating as well as a wine room with two high tops. You get menus and order at the counter, something that wasn't entirely clear when we arrived. After using our phone backlights (not flashlights, we're not that old yet) to look at the menu we headed back up to the bar to order. The menu wasn't that big. There were a couple bubbly options and about 5-6 white and red options. I didn't look at the beers but they did offer a sour so seems like they had a decent variety. We ended up leaving after one drink, it was just too loud and not the vibe we were looking for. read more

My server was very sweet and told me about the drinks they had on hand. A very nice wine bar on divisadero in NOPA. The bartender is always friendly and they pick up glasses at your table very quickly. Ambiance is fun with occasional local art. Happy hours they have free popcorn and decent beer deals. 6 or 7 standing tables for groups of 4-6. Two or 3 sit down tables inside and about 10 small tables outside next to the street. So I brought the glass in and was told that it's just a little wax and that it's not bad to consume. I just stared at the guy. He got all pissy, took the glass, dramatically poured it out and then refilled the glass with a very weak pour. Look, I don't mind paying $16 for a glass of wine that costs that much for the whole bottle at the store, I don't mind paying $6 tip for 2 glasses of wine. Moving back to SF from a couple years out in New England, I was expecting to have to lower my standards on beer again. It's not that there aren't great breweries in the Bay Area, but far too few liquor stores and bars actually have them available. Fortunately, in my absence from the area, Fool's Errand opened on Divis! While I am bummed that this was preceded by Mojo Bicycle's closure, I couldn't be happier with Fool's Errand taking over the space. Fool's Errand has an impeccable beer selection, and from what partner says, also has an excellent wine selection (particularly, Riesling). When I say impeccable beer selection, I'm talking about draft and can varieties of Cellarmaker, Alvarado, Temescal, Moonraker, etc. They also rotate out their beers on a weekly basis, so you can almost always try something new each time you go. As a bonus, they offer beer (and wine) to-go too! This is great for a variety of reasons, but particularly because this place gets pretty busy on a weekend and I don't necessarily want to fight for a seat to drink a beer. Someday if I can manage it, I will stop by for their happy hour which is every weekday afternoon. Perhaps then I can grab a coveted seat out in their street-side patio area. read more

I usually prefer cabs as I like my wines full bodied and bold. This one was fine as we just had dinner, so we didn't pair our drinks with food. My gf is typically a sauvignon blanc or chardonnay girl, so she enjoyed her wine. It was rather busy when we got here, so I'm glad we found a spot to sit down. The cashiers were sweet. I think I've been here before when it was a beer bar and the layout is pretty much the same. It's just a wine bar now. And no more bicycles. I asked to sample a couple IPAs on tap to see which one I'd like to get and was told I could only have one sample in a rude tone. I would understand if the place was busy or there was a line but I was the only one there as it just opened. Then later as I was ordering my second round of drinks and asked if I could get another order of the free happy hour popcorn with no seasoning or less seasoning because it was salty AF and was told that that it was pre made with seasoning(which it was not, because I watched them add seasoning when I got my first order), furthermore I was then told that I was the first person to ever complain about the popcorn and that everyone loves it...as if I were the problem. I'm sure the popcorn is usually good but just maybe perhaps today's batch was slight more salty, just like the bartender. Been going to this place since it opened up 4 years ago and even before when it was Mojos and want to continue going here but this past visit was definitely a salty experience. read more

A nice place to grab a drink after work. We strolled in after hitting up a different spot. It was kinda of crammed and there isn't a bunch of seats. The bartender was nice and he assisted us in selecting a bottle. He actually recommended a bottle over individual glasses since there were three of us drinking. Drinks served with a complimentary bowl of popcorn. The atmosphere was nice and there were soft tunes playing the background. There's reasonably priced bottles of wine to fit any budget. I think it's the first time I'm leaving a bad review, but I also felt like we were a little scammed tonight. We just moved to SF with my husband from NY in February and we were trying to explore new places. This bar looked very cute. The only problem was when I ordered the Pino Noir, they had it listed as number 1 on the menu for $14, but it ended up being over a $100 bill after 3 rounds of drinks for us. When my husband nicely asked if there was a mistake, the bartender said that I had ordered a $20 wine. I don't want to sound cheap, but first of all, I did not order that, and secondly, she didn't even ask me and just assumed it was the most expensive option. We felt pretty bad. This is the perfect happy hour spot on a warm SF afternoon/evening. They have a cute little nook that looks out to the sidewalk- great for people watching. They also have a little parklet outside where you can enjoy your beverages. On a perfect SF night, you will see patrons flowing out of this wine/beer bar and enjoying drinks out on the patio. Very European style. The inside is also nice with beautiful slab wood tables. The beers are 7-8 dollars and the wine is 10-15, which may be a little pricey but my wine loving friends say they are high-quality wines so probably worth it? We usually opt for the beers though due to price. We noticed they have Happy Hour 2-6 M-F with $5 beers and $7 wines so we'll definitely be back for that. Guys, Fool's Errand is where it's at, we loved posting up here for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. A totally unexpected find, we had planned our trip out and I had a lengthy (that's an understatement) list of bars and restaurants I had wanted to try and this place was not one of them. I did a quick search while walking in this neighborhood and it popped up on my feed so we decided to check it out and we are so glad that we did. The place is small and cozy, they had an area to sit outside and enjoy some drinks at a high top bar type thing, great people watching spot. Their bar was pretty small and then they had some high top seating throughout the place. I wasn't aware they had food until after we left, small plates, definitely a different food scene, cheese, charcuterie and "tins" of meat, but we didn't come for food, just for booze. They advertise themselves as a beer and wine bar and that's what they were in our minds. They had a great beer and wine selection and the owner happened to be in and was just wonderful. Super friendly, just a very cool dude who offered so many recommendations for us to try while we were exploring San Francisco for the first time, he even took it upon himself to grab a napkin and jot his suggestions down. There was another bartender there who was also a great time. They were the kind of people that treated you like regulars, even though it was your first time in their place. I loved that. We did some sparkling Rose and some beers, chatted about life, people watched and then left fully excited to tell people about this new spot and also eager to come back.
