It was easy to get a last minute reservation on a weekday. The space was classy/elevated - one of the few places in SF you can dress up for. We came for a quick bite before golf and tried: *Sweet summer corn caramelle ($30) - butter boletes mushrooms, lovage crema, pecorino *Funghi hen-of-the-woods mushrooms pizza ($30) - garlic confit, parmigiano-reggiano The waiter warned us that the pizzas are very thin and the pasta portions are small, so we knew what to expect. They were both sooo yummy and texturally interesting. Will be back to try more soon! read more

I'd hoped to like this place more. But even with great vibes and friendly, helpful service, the food just didn't live up to the price. On the positive side, the space is beautiful. It's a very San Francisco aesthetic: a modern take on an Art Deco bistro. Also, our server, Eugene, was so friendly and helpful, and he handled our large party (8 people) pretty well. Other than that, though, the experience was kind of mid. The wait between courses was really long, and not everything for each course came out at once. For example, we ordered two pizzas to split as appetizers, and the second pizza came at least 20 minutes after the first one. We arrived at about 5:30 pm, and we didn't leave until nearly 9 pm! The food and drinks were also generally mid. The one thing I liked enough to get again was their arancini, since the saffron perfumed the risotto really nicely, and the rice texture was actually pretty good for arancini. I liked their wines, but their Aperol Spritz was a bit unbalanced for my taste. The pizza had a decent crust--thanks to their wood oven--but the toppings didn't really hit. I tried their agnolotti, and I did like the flavor of the meats inside the pasta, but the sauce was kind of one-note. I did try their panna cotta dessert, too. The textures were nice, and the pink peppercorns were an interesting addition to the couli on top. But the portion (like with the agnolotti) was on the small side; even just more of the poached pear would have made the dish feel more worth it. Overall, it struck me as too pricey for the quality. read more

Such a cute spot! Really charming, cozy interior and such friendly staff. The food was pretty good too; highly recommend their pastas! I got the corn caramelle, which was so good. Slightly sweet, perfectly creamy, and really flavorful. Definitely the highlight of the dinner for me! My partner got the carbonara and loved it as well. We also got the funghi pizza, which was a little too burnt for my taste, but otherwise really good and generously portioned! Overall, a really cute spot with solid pastas and lovely service! read more

The food I had for dinner here was really good, the cod was mouthwateringly good. And the Caesar salad was okay as well. First of all, I wanted to thank the staff for their superb service: Andrew, Steve, Rudy, Piper, Alan, Linda & Brenna. Came here for my birthday celebration and I was blown away at not only the beauty of this place but also the incredible and sweet staff that made my birthday celebration one to remember. The food was amazing! From the olives to the pasta, I have to say this has been the best Italian food I have had, ever. Pasta is handmade here in the restaurant so the quality is superb. I especially enjoyed the low lighting because it gives a quaint and intimate feel. This is a great place for anniversary dinners, intimate birthday dinners or a simple date with your partner. read more

Very classy and beautiful restaurant -- perfect spot for a special occasion. Service was fantastic (shoutout Lawson) and we felt very well taken care of the whole time. Went on a Saturday at 7 and although the place was packed, I appreciated that it wasn't so loud that you had to shout to be heard. - focaccia with butter: 10/10 AMAZING. I love bread and butter, and this was particularly addicting. The bread was so soft and flavorful even without the butter. Highly recommend - kanpachi crudo: 10/10 so good! wish the serving was larger as it was only a few pieces, but the flavor and freshness of the fish was on point - agnolotti: 5/10 the flavor didn't stand out to me, and the dumplings were a bit too chewy for me. Would try the recommended lemon bucatini next time! - carne mista pizza: 8/10 great flavor, loved the freshness of the arugula and the sharp cheese - pork chop: 7/10 too salty for me but a generous portion, and the meat was cooked well. I liked the cherry and walnuts on top to cut the saltiness - tiramisu: 7/10 I personally prefer more creamy tiramisu and this was more cake than cream, but the flavor balance was great and presentation was pretty Overall, dining here was a great experience! read more

Ok. This is a pricy place, not too bad, but maybe a special occasion type of place. It's located in the warehouse district and I would have never even thought about eating at this place. The service was present, polite and informative. On to the food. My pizza was great!!!! I wasn't sure what to expect, being the carnivore that I am, but was pleasantly surprised by the rich flavors this pizza provided. Our server recommended an excellent red to pair with our plates. All in all, it's worth the experience. This place is a vibe whether you get food or just come for drink in a beautiful place. read more

This place is great. We sat at the bar (an amazing and very large bar no less) and had a great vodka martini and an even better meal: the Flat iron tagliata and Bucatini al limone! Magnificent. We also split the Little Gems salad, which far exceeded expectations. Our server was attentive and on point, which was the icing on the cake! read more

My friend booked a 5:30 pm reservation for a Tuesday night and it was pretty busy for a week night. The first thing that caught my eye was definitely the ambiance of the restaurant from the lighting to aesthetic layout. The staff that attended to us were so kind, always making small talk with us about foods we liked to help us choose items from the menu as well as recommendations he had. Focaccia - We always love starting out with bread and this was fluffy but different from regular focaccia. It was a little dense but warm and perfect for the butter melting on it. Carne Mista - This pizza was the star for us. The tomato sauce was very good and it was savory from the variety of meat on top with some freshness from the arugula and texture from the mozzarella. Kabocha Squash Triangoli - The pasta dish could have been a little bit hotter in temperature and we weren't too big a fan of the nuts on top. The squash flavor was strong though which we enjoyed and very tasty paired with the brown butter. Lemon Basil Gelato - A refreshing sorbet. It didn't taste too much basil or sourness as it was more similar to a candied lemon but it was a light dessert that helped balance out our heavier meal. Apple Pie w/ Prickly Pear Sorbet - My friend opted for this one and it wasn't too sweet which we enjoyed. They let us add any sorbet or ice cream on top so we chose to try this prickly pear sorbet which was really interesting, kind of sweet and had a similar flavor to haw flakes. Overall, we had a really enjoyable time trying all the different dishes and enjoying the ambiance of the restaurant from the staff to the environment that let us talk comfortably. I would highly recommend for a nice dinner out with friends or date night. read more

Made a reservation for my party of 10 days ahead and was kindly able to be accommodated, as parties this large typically require a contract. When my party arrived, our table was ready and the staff immediately greeted us and took us to sit. We were here to celebrate a friend and the team was so kind as to gift my friend a congratulations card from the team. The service is absolutely above and beyond. The whole team is coordinated in making sure you receive michellin-level hospitality. Okay now onto the food. What's the best part of going to a restaurant with 9 of your closest friends? You all get to try each other's plates! I was able to try every pizza and most of the pastas on the menu and can confidently say that the Carne Mista Pizza is the crown jewel of La Connessa. Next time I come I'm ordering 20 of those just for me. For pastas, the bolognese offers a larger portion but the agnolotti is the absolute best flavor wise. And for liquor, you can never go wrong with a limoncello! read more

Came with some friends to try out this restaurant! Beautiful interior and I loved the ambiance so much! The service was wonderful - the servers were kind and attentive, providing us with so much information on the various dishes and allowing us plenty of time to decide what we wanted to order. They also let us know that family style is typically how people order here. We got a pizza (carne mista) and a lemon pasta. Both were so so so good! I loved every bite! We also all got spritzes - I got the Hugo Spritz and it was quite delicious with not much alcoholic taste. We also got the panna cotta to share for dessert since we were so stuffed! Definitely a delicious dessert! Overall, a 10/10 experience and I'll be coming back to try new dishes!! read more

Second time going to La connessa was much better than the first time. I learned that items on the menu are seasonal and dishes on the menu change based on ingredients that are in season. We were recommended dishes and we tried a variety of them. Thanks for the friendly server and staff. For antipastas we got the focaccia di recco, arancini, and belfiore burrata. The belfoiore burrata was surprisingly the best of the three with a great balance of citrus and freshness of the burrata. Personally, I would not order the focaccia di recco again--it seems a little too similar to a fried tortilla. For pastas we got the agnolotti del plin and spaghettino al limone. The agnolotti del plin was flavorful and comforting. On a contrary, the spaghettino al limone presents a bright, zesty and lemon flavor. Expect to have a burst of lemon if you get this pasta. Two pastas that had a great contrast in taste. For pizza we got the Carne mista. The combination of meats, cheese and arugula came together very well and I would order this again. This place is a wonderful place to catch up with friends or have a nice dinner for date night. The ambiance is exquisite and classy. We also appreciated the wonderful service. read more

We came to La Conessa on a Friday night to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a great experience overall. We made a reservation for 8 adults and 2 babies, and since our party was over 8, we had to email the restaurant to book. The process was easy and smooth. Even though the restaurant was pretty busy, we were seated right away, which we really appreciated. They also had baby high chairs available. Once we ordered, the food came out quickly. We did everything family style so we could try a variety of dishes, and honestly, that was the best way to go. Everything we ordered was solid, and we also shared a bottle of wine for the table. The interior is really nice. I loved the high ceilings and the bar shelves, which give the space a more elevated and polished feel. Parking was also super convenient with plenty of street parking around the area. Since we were celebrating a birthday, the staff was kind enough to put a candle on the dessert we ordered, which was such a thoughtful touch. The servers were great throughout the night, checking in on us often and keeping our waters refilled. read more

"Chic" is the first word that came to mind when I stepped through the door at La Connessa. The tiled floor, wicker cafe chairs, and elegant bar created an ambiance that felt very upscale yet welcoming. My friend booked us a reservation for brunch, and since we were celebrating a birthday, the hostess handed us a birthday card from the restaurant - such a thoughtful touch! The menu features a short list of traditional brunch dishes with a Californian/Italian twist. For example, the lineup includes arancini, an egg panini, and oven-fired pizza. We split the arugula salad (with in-season fuyu persimmon), soft-scramble toast, and Bianca pizza. Our server was super friendly and attentive; while our food was brought out quickly, nothing felt rushed - we were allowed to linger and catch up over a nearly two-hour meal. This was more than enough food for the two of us, and we had about half a pizza and some salad leftover. If I had to choose a favorite dish, it would probably be the soft-scramble toast. The eggs had a fluffy yet silky texture, and the crispy and buttery mushrooms took it to the next level. The arugula salad was also refreshing, and I loved the seasonal touch of the persimmon. The Bianca pizza was unique, and I loved the combo of escarole, jammy caramelized onions, and green olives; however, the crust tasted a little burnt and was tough to chew. We were too full for dessert, but the seasonal prickly cactus sorbet flavor sounded intriguing. The restaurant is located in an up-and-coming neighborhood with a bakery and donut shop around the corner. Getting here via public transport was a bit of an adventure, but my friend who drove found parking easily. My friend said that La Connessa's dinner service is also delicious, so I will have to come back! read more

Connessa delivered a warm dining experience with thoughtful food and great attention from servers. The tajarin al nero was beautifully executed - silky black pasta topped with uni, adding a rich, briny depth that complemented the dish without overwhelming it. The service was outstanding!! From the moment we arrived, the entire staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely focused on making sure we had a great experience. It felt like there was always someone nearby ready to assist, without ever being intrusive. Our waiter even made a recommendation for a Thai food location out town. Which we greatly appreciated. The aesthetic is both classy and inviting, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the experience. The classic black-and-white flooring adds a timeless charm, while the lighting casts a warm glow throughout the space, creating a cozy but sophisticated atmosphere. Everything we ordered was delicious, but the star of the meal was definitely the house-made pasta. It delivered exactly the rich, comforting flavors I had been craving, and you could truly taste the freshness and care that went into making it. One thing worth noting is that the portions were described to us as family-style. However, when the dishes arrived, they felt more like appropriately sized individual servings rather than portions meant for sharing. While the food was excellent, this is something to keep in mind when ordering for a family or bigger group. Overall, the combination of exceptional service and delicious food made for a wonderful dining experience, and I would happily return if ever in the area again. read more

I went for dinner on a Friday night. Unlike many restaurants in SF, there was plenty of free parking in the surrounding area. I arrived at least 30 minutes early to look for parking but I found a spot within feet from the restaurant entrance. My party was seated in a different room; we had to exit a side door of the main restaurant and walk around the corner to enter another room. This room looked nothing like the main dining area and it was very cold! We had to keep asking the staff to increase the temperature in the room. My first course was an arugula salad and it was nothing special. My main course was tagliatelle bolognese. The first few bites were okay but I quickly got tired of it even though the portion was not big. For dessert I had tiramisu and it was just your average tiramisu. I may have enjoyed my dining experience if the room was not cold, but at least there was plenty of parking nearby! However, I was still a bit hungry upon leaving and ended up getting Boba Guys nearby to fill up my stomach. read more

I first noticed La Connessa when I was in the neighborhood one weekend. It was closed at the time (they have limited hours, mostly around dinnertime), so my husband and I made a mental note to come back and try it one day. That day eventually arrived(!), and a group of four of us (my husband and I, plus his boss and his wife) came one evening after making a reservation. They were busyy - even with a reservation, we had a short wait. While it would have been nice to sit along the wall or by a window, we ended up at one of the many inner tables, which meant a bit more hustle and bustle as staff and customers passed by. That said, the serving staff and sommelier were attentive and helpful, offering thoughtful suggestions for us first-timers and answering our questions. We shared everything family-style, which was the way to go, including focaccia, prosciutto di San Daniele, salad, tagliatelle bolognese, agnolotti del plin, wine, dessert, and more. Everything was delicious, and the portions were for good sharing and tasting. I'd be happy to come back again soon. read more

Love the ambiance however the food was rather disappointing, esp for the price. They are known for house made pasta. We got the following: - Tajarin Al Nero: 2/5 (uni pasta) - there were 2 small piece of uni. It also came out cold. - Tagliatelle Bolognese: 4/5 - American Wagyu Flank Steak Tagliata: 2/5 - considering that it was Wagyu steak, it was really tuff, even for medium rare. - seasonal Sorbet: 5/5. Okay so last time I was here with my friend this older dude hit on us outside and asked us where we're going and where he should go next. My friend goes "um idk I'm not from here I'm from Canada." Dude goes "you're from Canada and you came all the way here to go to Potrero hill?" Busted. Anyway, I've been here 3x in the last year which is saying a lot because I find it so hard to go back to places when there are SO many new ones to try in SF. Everything here (except 1 pasta dish was alright) I've tried is amazing. High pasta quality, abundance of flavor, fun pizzas, unique dishes you can't find at any other Italian spots here. Obsessed. The menu rotates which is good and bad. I get to try new things but don't get to go back to my favorites. My favs: the corn pasta and fried polenta from summer 2024. This is my formal request to bring those back and DM me when you do ! The interior is to die for and transports you out of SF and into a European city, curating the best vibes. La Connessa delivered one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the ambience was warm, inviting, and beautifully crafted--perfect for a relaxed, memorable Italian dinner. The food was outstanding: incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. Every dish tasted authentic and delicious. The pizza, in particular, was next level--their hand-built pizza oven creates an unbelievable crust and flavor that makes it some of the best pizza we've ever had. Sophisticated and lively atmosphere with modern Italian dishes I'm usually not a martini girl but decided to be bold and get the Tomatini. I loved it! Continues to be a favorite for easy parking and a nice vibe but I have to comment that the 2 top options are not always ideal. The last time we were there we got a great corner table, it was an unexpected yay moment. This time we were going to be seated in the middle of restaurant right in front of the door, which would be constantly opening and closing, even though they have a curtain cold air would be coming in and out we chose instead to eat at the bar. posting mostly to help others see photos I always like to see what I'm potentially going to order. We had our usual Manhattan and tried their special Manhattan, but decided we like the regular better. La Connessa is a beautiful space for intimate dining that doesn't feel too posh. It was completely full on a Tuesday night with tables turning for reserved second dining around 8:30. The service is very friendly and attentive - refilling our sparkling water like wine! The food is good, though a bit inconsistent for what we ordered on this visit. Seasoning is on the salty side overall, particularly strong on the vegetables like fried Brussels sprouts - would have been great if they were more crisply fried, like potato chips! The Tuscan chicken liver mousse was very good and rich, a very generous serving that calls for more bread - make sure to take it home. The Tajarin al nero was a bit disappointing, where there wasn't a distinct shrimp flavor from the brodo, and there was just one small piece of uni placed on the top that didn't permeate its flavor to the dish. I was hoping for a bit more flavor of the sea. The Agnolotti was a solid dish with great chew on the pasta and a gentle filling. He never checked back about our meal or if we needed anything else. The heirloom salad was fine, fungi pizza yummy but the lemon bucotini was dry, overcooked, cold and flavorless. I had dinner here last night with my brother and his family. Very pretty restaurant. Elegant all around. Service was very good. We had: Focaccia del recco (4/5) - Wasn't really sure what to expect. Think of it as a crispy quesadilla. Delicious. Crudo (4/5) - Fish was delicious, the oil based sauce could have used a bit more acidity? Belfiore Burrata (4/5) - Different than other burrata dishes I've had. Beets, orange and pistachios in addition to the cheese. Good mix of flavors. Funghi Pizza (5/5) - My favorite dish of the night. Perfect combination of flavorful mushrooms, cheese and light garlic confit cooked to perfection in their proprietary pizza oven. Spaghettino al limone (5/5) - My 2nd favorite dish of the night. Lemon, butter and black pepper sauce. Awesome dish. The portion size is a bit small so not really meant to be an entree??? American Wagyu Flank Steak Tagliata (2.5/5) - The miss of the night. Meat was not tender and the salsa verde had a weird taste to it. My newphew said it tasted a bit fishy. Overall a very enjoyable meal with great company! read more

I have only been to La Conneasa once and intend to return. The interior design is lovely! The floor tiles and chair backs, the opulent chandeliers, and the grand bar area. It all comes together to be comfortably sophisticated. I noted my wife's birthday when I made the reservation, and requested a nice seat for her special night. Both comments were taken to heart. There was a nice card on the table, desert came out with a lit candle, and the seat was perfect! For food we ordered Halibut Carpaccio, Orecchiette, and Agnolotti del Plin. Of the three I would gladly reorder the Carpaccio and Agnolotti; both were delicious! The people sitting at the table next to us were a hoot! There were two late aged couples out for a nice dinner and they were having a ball. One of the guys was jovial and insisted we try his Focaccia di recco, which was delicious by the way. They made a comment that struck a chord, and especially as the evening progressed. They said, "Could be just us but they seem to be in a hurry to get us out of here." Then made a couple more comments about having a good time but feeling "like we're being pushed out." We had the same server and could relate to their comments completely. No charm, no "touch," no warmth. Very inconsistent with the mood of the restaurant, the delicious food, and even the hostess who was friendly and helpful. I'm sure this was a "one person" issue and not typical of La Connessa to expedite diners experience. Despite the service issue everything was great and I would certainly return. read more
