Almond gelato
Naomi W.

Came here for a birthday dinner! Our host and waiters were all very attentive. The decor is very classy without being over the top, and we were sat in a cute little alcove table with mood lighting. I would imagine the patio seats would be so nice right now given our heat wave. Onto the food, we ordered the scallop appetizer, which looked really tiny on the plate but actually had a decent portion of scallops underneath all the other garnishes. The duck breast was cooked to perfection, but the only thing we didn't like was the flavoring on the crispy skin. The seasoning reminded me of those Japanese cracker snacks with the seaweed wrapped around it, and I happen to just not be a fan of that flavor profile. We also got the boar pappardelle and that was so delicious and filling! For dessert, we were presented with a huge heaping of almond gelato with a birthday candle on the side. Really nice touch to celebrate my birthday and I would definitely come back here for a nice date night or other celebrations!

This was my second visit to Via Aurelia, and it completely solidified its spot as one of my favorite local gems. It is rare to find a place that delivers such a high level of consistency, but they managed to blow me away just as much as the first time. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance--sophisticated enough for a nice night out, but welcoming and warm. Whether you are looking for a spot for a focused conversation or just a fantastic meal, the energy here is spot on. The Food The menu is a beautiful tribute to authentic flavors. On this trip, the highlights were: * Fresh Pasta: You can tell everything is handmade. The texture of the pasta combined with their rich, bright sauces is outstanding. (*Raviolis) * The Starters: Don't skip the small plates; the quality of the ingredients--especially the cheeses and oils--is top-tier. The Experience The service is what really sets this place apart. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, and they clearly take pride in the menu. If you're looking for a recommendation, they actually know the nuances of the dishes rather than just reciting a script. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and book a table. I'm already looking forward to my third visit!

Beautiful interior with spectacular views of the ball park and water with ultra nice staff. They were knowledgeable about the food, wine and cocktails (highly recommend the martini and piccolo pomodoro) . We started with the scallop followed by the tortellini, tagliatelle, and the steak is not to be missed. Perfectly medium rare accompanied by potatoes with sides. Spectacular evening. I'll go back for another special occasion.

Via Aurelia's interior was very well decorated with orange and blue tones. It's a huge restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The bar had the option to dine in as well. Highly recommend all the dishes we ordered: The Winter Lettuce Salad, Scallop Crudo, Dungeness Crab, and Pappardelle Ragù. They seemed to be pretty busy but still can do walk ins at the bar. Definitely a fancier dining experience.

Start to finish DELICIOUS. May I just say I did not expect "foam" to be so incredible? I left commenting that I will be ordering that foam as an entree in the future! Can I pretend it's a dinner soup? It was delectable, same as the service, presentation, and my drink; I can't think of anything to complain about and that says a lot! I was exhausted otherwise I would have taken note of the servers names and given credit here; everyone was outstanding from the moment we entered to the moment we left. Great ambiance, view, and attention to detail. We will certainly return.

Maltagliati alla Lepre

We visited Via Aurelia for a small anniversary dinner and the entire evening felt like a thoughtful, well-paced culinary experience. The staff took care of us from the moment we arrived and seated us in an enclosed booth that felt intimate, stylish, and perfect for celebrating. The atmosphere leans upscale with a retro edge, elegant and energetic yet still comfortable enough to relax into the night. We began with cocktails. I ordered the Birdcage and my husband chose the Clear Intentions. The Birdcage was stronger and more spirit-forward with a bold flavor profile, while the Clear Intentions was refreshing, clean, and crisp. Both were crafted beautifully, although Clear Intentions was the more drinkable choice for me. We were then served their bread collaboration with Jane the Bakery. It arrived warm with house lard and olive oil on the side. The bread was soft with a tender crust and the spread added richness and depth. It was simple but memorable, and a lovely way to ease into the meal. For entrées we ordered the Maltagliati alla Lepre and the Gallina Faraona. The staff asked if we were sharing and later presented both dishes already split into individual servings. This was a refined touch that made the experience feel even more elevated. The Maltagliati alla Lepre was the star of the night. The hare was exceptionally tender with deep flavor and the pasta had the perfect bite, absorbing the sauce and enhancing every element. It felt rustic yet refined, comforting yet layered with complexity. The Gallina Faraona was beautifully executed as well. The hen was juicy and aromatic with truffle that was noticeable the moment it reached the table. It was rich without feeling heavy, albeit a bit on the salty side but a perfect contrast from the pasta we had earlier. The pairing of both dishes felt balanced and satisfying. Although we initially thought we might need more food, the portions ended up being just right. We finished with the Torta della Nonna. It reminded me of a delicate shortbread with custard influences. Lightly sweet, creamy, and a perfect final note to the evening. We left incredibly happy and already plan to return, especially to try the five course tasting menu priced at $155 per person. After seeing this restaurant all over social media, we are so glad we finally experienced it ourselves. Via Aurelia feels worthy of recognition and could very well earn a Michelin star in the future.A truly special place, and perfect for a meaningful occasion.

We came to Via Aurelia to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a really lovely experience. We brought our 8 month old daughter and the staff was so kind and accommodating, which we truly appreciated. Service felt warm and genuine, and we loved the cozy, stylish interior. The Pegasus and Sazerac cocktails were both solid and the complimentary bread to start was a nice touch. We ordered the scallops, wild boar ragu, salmon, and dry aged duck breast and while everything was good, nothing particularly stood out as memorable. Even though we passed on dessert, they surprised us with complimentary sorbets, which felt really thoughtful and made the night feel extra special.

Via Aurelia had amazing fine dining service! We loved every dish we tried as well as the freshly baked warm bread. If you go you should definitely try the gnudi, but all the pasta dishes we tried were tasty. It's good for a date or a group for a celebration! Beautiful interior.

The venue is beautiful and a great view of the baseball arena Out reservation was at 6 pm but they let us sit down at 5:30 which was great on a rainy night You get a garbanzo bean chip which was delish Jane's wheat bread with homemade olive oil and some sort of lard with rosemary It was all fabulous The wines and lemon drop were good We had the fantastic salad which was huge , the hare ragu pasta (our favorite) and the wild boar ragu pasta I had the "wagyu" salmon that was incredible Rich and fatty The only neg is we finished our wine and wanted to order another glass and huge lag where no service I finally had to flag a random server down which was annoying since there are tons of servers roaming around Also the waitress said the ragu pastas were completely different cause we were worried they would be too similar .......they were very similar and we should not have ordered both

Looking for a place for a hot date or GNO? Tho let's be real, this is NOT a first date place because it will def burn a hole in your wallet (my friend graciously treated me for a belated celebration). Well, unless you're ballin' and thinking of gettin' that cookie. Speaking of cookies, Via Aurelia left no crumbs for opening week so here's to Review #3,800. IMO, it's the best of SF Native, Chef Nayfeld's restos (Che Fico, Che Fico MP, Che Fico Pizzeria, Bubbelah, and now closed Che Fico Alimentari). Rezzies are a must. They do allow walk-ins but you'll most likely be seated in the bar area. Open for indoor dining with patio seating coming in several weeks. M E N U Modern Tuscan Cuisine using seasonal, local ingredients with housemade pastas. A la carte menu and $155 tasting menu. Awesome cocktail program. Just FYI, in-person menu is a bit different than online menu. D R I N K S * Piccolo Pomodoro w/ white whiskey, tomato water, lovage, aquavit, cucumber, lemon ($20 x2): https://tinyurl.com/4cft5arr One of the best, if not the best cocktail I've had. Spirit forward, well-balanced and savory. Think salad in cocktail form...in the best way. * Via Aurelia Martini w/ taggiasca gin, veso olive vermouth, manzanilla sherry, shio koji ($24): https://tinyurl.com/2t5uv6fe Smooth, stiff, and savory umami without being overly salty.   * Madrina w/ cognac, rooibos, rum, almond, citrus, whey, mint ($20): https://tinyurl.com/2m4kh6jt Creamy smooth with a floral earthy flavor. Like milk punch, it's on the sweet side. F O O D * Complimentary Bread Service: Jane The Bakery w/ whipped pork lard, olive oil: https://tinyurl.com/p2b54a94 Warm crusty, spongy Tuscan style bread with an incredibly decadent pork buttah and fruity olive oil for dipping. Also served with a crunchy chickpea (?) chicharrón.   * Tartara Di Tonna: Bluefin Tuna Belly w/ trout roe, cucumber, kelp oil, cuore di tonno stagionato ($42): https://tinyurl.com/muyh2pwp Fresh, rich buttery bluefin toro topped with complementary ingredients for a delicate umami. Small portion for the price tho. * Pappardelle Con Sugo Di Cinghiale w/ wild boar ragù, pecorino toscano ($40): https://tinyurl.com/5ycsm4nx Rustic dish done right - broad, slightly chewy noodles with slowly braised, tender wild boar. Deep earthy flavor with a pleasant notes of game. * Tortellini Di Formagio w/ early girl tomato sauce, robiola, parmesan crisp ($36): https://tinyurl.com/mrxjx7y4 Al-dente tortellini filled with a creamy, buttery brie-like cheese. The sweet tang of the tomato sauce and crunch of the parm tuile gave great flavor and texture. * Anantra: Dry-Aged Liberty Duck w/ santa rosa plum, amaretto cookie, hakori turnip, Tuscan duck sauce ($52): https://tinyurl.com/bvpb6z5u Always nervous ordering duck because it disappoints compared to a Canto roast duck at a fraction of the cost. BUT, this came highly recommended by our server. Perfectly cooked and tender, crispy skin studded with crushed cookies, the duck was phenomenal with a savory sweet complex duck sauce, tender turnips, and tart plum. Loved it! * Torta Della Nonna: Vanilla Custard w/ rosemary, lavendar, pignole ($17): https://tinyurl.com/5n89uay2 Bummed they didn't have the mont blanc on their online menu so we went with this. Crunchy, cakey texture with rich buttery flavor from the pine nuts. Not too sweet, almost leaning savory. * Toasted Almond Gelato w/ acacia honey ($16) Smooth, dense texture but underwhelming and too basic for the price. Wished there were toasted almonds for crunch. * Complimentary Mignardises: Chocolate Nuts: https://tinyurl.com/8a4edapt S E R V I C E Michelin-level service, the staff was hella on point (except for one person with mean girl vibes). Our server, Francisco was charming, knowledgeable, and attentive. Tasha made us feel like home. Polished and finessed with well-timed courses, clearing + resetting plates, water refills, and tables regularly wiped down. A M B I A N C E Quiet luxury. Spacious yet cozy with neutral colors, intimate booths, and sweeping waterfront views of the Bay and Oracle park. Thoughtful details...we could even adjust the soothing music volume in our booth! the opening of Via Aurelia has been long awaited... and it's finally here! ...and we've already been four times! the atmosphere is elevated yet laid-back & modern, with a pinch of rustic and a dash of cozy. dress code ranges from formal (but not stuck up) to the nicer end of casual with clean sneakers. we were lucky enough to dine there on the first night they opened to the public. thank you to our very first server Francisco! pretty much all the staff are super friendly and welcoming. both Tasha and Amy are very attentive servers and ensure you get everything you could need and make you smile throughout your night :) it's always a good idea to make a reservation (on OpenTable) especially when sports season is in full blast, but they also designate some seats at the bar and high tops for walk-ins. if you do sit at the bar, you can order from the full menu as well as a specific bar menu with small bites. Patrick will make sure you're taken care of and makes a mean martini. if you're leaning more towards wine, there's plenty of nice bottles to choose from! Justin the sommelier can help you pair the right one (or two!) to your meal. they start you off with an amuse buche of a chicharrón wafer in a fennel seed mixture (don't eat the seed mixture). the dusting of spices adds a delightful zingy flavor to it. this is followed by rustic bread fresh out of the oven, a butter/lard combo that melts perfectly upon contact with said bread, and their fancy olive oil--truly like no other! the textures in the insalata de verdura deeply compliment each other and create layers of flavor with each perfectly assembled bite (create your bites intentionally). their salad slightly changes depending on what fresh ingredients are available. we've gotten it more than once and regardless of the season, it's a hit every time! as for pastas, so far we split the Tortelli Mugellani, Papardelle, orzo with lobster, and the Maltagliatti. the papardelle is a mouthwatering favorite. tortelli mugellani is a MUST TRY, at least once in your life. ask them to tell you the origin story! and the duck dish (Anatra) is juicy, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious.

Im here right now for my bday dinner my friend planned. Service felt a little pushy with the somm but we ended up with a beautiful wine that I'll go out and look for after this. The rabbit and crab pasta dish were fantastic. Very different flavors but would definitely order again. We ordered the pork and rabbit for our mains and both were disappointing. The biggest disappointment was when our server asked how it was and we let her know that the pasta was better and just said "oh" and walked away. Pork was great if it was an actual entree size, but it's served as a tasting. Should be on the appetizer side at half the price. The duck was a solid portion with underwhelming preparation. To top it off, they seemed to have forgotten it was my birthday when dessert came out. There's so much potential here but Amy as a server was disappointing, both in service and attention to detail. I want to come back to gove the food another chance but afraid of the terrible service.

The tuna was rich and smokey in a great milky and fragrant fennel sauce. The hamachi in the root veggie wrap with a slight kick, awesome! And the scallop was good too! My boyfriend liked that one, but I thought the chip on top was over powering. My other favorite, the lamb pasta! Loved that texture. Flavor wise, savory and spicy. It was cold out and really warmed me up. Loved the experience. Our waitress was also awesome and patience. Now I'm personally not too concerned with pastas, I always think it's better to make it at home and not my first choice to seek it when eating out. But the pasta here is so flavorful, just perfect down to the texture and portion size. To start, we got the Hokkaido scallops with preserved lemon and sea beans. Refreshing and satisfies. For the pastas, we ordered the Cencioni with five mushroom sugo. A mix of cremini, shiitake, oyster, and porcini mushrooms with a deep, umami-rich flavor that's paired so well with crisps, a perfect pasta!! We also ordered the Paccheri alla vodka with tomato, cream, and nduja. Silky and a bit spicy, super delicious. I would most definitely come here again, this is probably my favorite Italian spot so far, ever. It's that good. I'm not even a pasta fanatic nor go out of my way to get Italian, but this place exceeded all my expectations.
