Tuesday dinner at 5:15pm in September 2026. Went in with no reservation, the hostess provided a couple options since tables do get booked. Weekday happy hour is from 5pm - 6pm, only on beers, shots, and a couple cocktails. Order 2 apps (garlic bread and wings) and 1 entree. If you get the garlic bread, please get it with cheese and sauce. The bread was a bit dry. Wings were pretty good, does have a spicy kick since it is with Calabrian chili oil. Wings were unevenly grilled/charred. The rigatoni bolo bianco pasta was delicious. AL DENTE and giant pasta. It's a tomato less bolognese, big chunks of meat. Couldn't taste the lemon, but the sauce was good. The restaurant is boisterous and eclectic. There's even a photo-booth in the back, so don't forget to take photos like I did. This was such a fun, different experience. This is not your typical sit down, quiet Italian restaurant. Service was busy but attentive. The food is the star of the show. This is a loud, fun, casual, collective atmosphere. The food is truly phenomenal. We made a reservation for a birthday group. 6 people for around 8:30PM on a Saturday night and it was absolutely packed. Ordered some mystery $5 shots, a few cocktails, a spicy Cesar to share, garlic bread and all sorts of different pasta's! Spicy vodka, lasagna, spaghetti with grandma's meatballs, and rigatoni bolo. Disappointing food items. We came on a Monday but declined the $60 cash deal since my partner and I do not drink. We got the Cadillac Lasagna, Spaghetti and (Grandma's) Meatballs (both pictured), and the Garlic Bread (not pictured). The lasagna's sauce had decent flavor, but the noodles were plasticky. It was like biting into an edible Lego. The spaghetti was decent-ish, lacking the sort of explosive flavor you expect from a sauce dish. The meatballs were a neat interpretation of a classic meatball. The bar was low though, so it's hard to say how much this would have shone if everything was on par. Last thing to mention is that garlic bread. This was awful. I wish I took a picture. There was a clump of cheese in the middle portion of the bread accompanied by a sad wimpy spread of garlic butter on either side. Service was pleasant. That's not super hard nowadays, and the place was cute enough for those looking for it. All in all we paid like $95 with tip. I originally thought that this place wouldn't be rated very highly considering my experience. Safe to say I'm surprised to find that this is 4 stars. I think my recommendation is to not buy into the hype and spare yourself the trip. Me, my husband, and 2 of our friends came on a Monday for the "Monday is for Lovers" deal - $60 (CASH ONLY) for two appetizers, one entrée, one dessert, and a bottle of wine. We ordered the spicy caesar, cauliflower arancini, meatballs, and semolina garlic bread with sauce for the appetizers. I think the cauliflower arancini was my favorite out of the 4! It came out so fresh and the parmesan and marinara dips went perfectly with it. SO GOOD! For the main we did the rigatoni bolo bianco and chicken parm. Both were so good - I think the chicken parm might've been my favorite out of the two. The chicken was so flavorful. We ordered the house white for the wine, which went perfectly with our meal. It was light and refreshing. The meal ended with a peaches and creme panna cotta with some bread crumbs on top. SO DELICIOUS! This spot is so fun and really just incredible overall. Recently a few friends and I made reservations ahead of time for a Saturday evening table inside for dinner. The restaurant was full of life, excitement, and impeccable vibes..essentially it checked every box we were looking for. Also ironically, we were seated by a shrine of Dolly Parton (what our bachelorette theme was). The service was amazing and we loved everyone that came to our table to make our party feel so special. Special shoutout to the cocktail menu (my cocktail had a piece of parm on top!), and food-wise we def had a great assortment: prosciutto zeppole, semolina garlic bread, spicy Caesar, shrimp scampi toast, meatballs, and spicy vodka fusilli + stracciatella. We feasted! I believe there is also an outdoor area and late night weekend menu including meatball and chicken parm subs. Sunday brunch is a thing too, just not sure if it's every weekend. They have two pin ball machines and a photo booth as well, very fun. For food, our two appetizers were the chicken wings and the caesar salad. Both were spicy, but not that spicy. Instead of traditional croutons, they added bread crumbs on top of the little gem lettuce. I enjoyed their take on a caesar, though it felt pretty heavy, much like the rest of our meal and the menu haha. The wings were delicious and my friend and I fought for who will take the last one. Spaghetti and meatballs was a very size able portion for two to share. We ordered the grandma's meatballs with the spaghetti and meatballs which had a different recipe, I believe crushed cashews are added. My friend introduced me to this spot in Bernal Heights and it wasn't too crowded on a Friday evening. The inside is dim with mood lighting, and there a lot of Italian classics on the menu. We got the spicy caesar (which had a nice anchovy kick) and the spaghetti with grandma meatballs. The Monday night $60 meal deal was, in fact, a steal. recs: spaghetti and meatballs, cadillac lasagna, buffalo wings, strawberry panna cotta (ok basically everything) price: ~$30/person - Buffalo Wings: The first buffalo wings I've had that were grilled instead of sauced up. The sauce on the side was deliciously creamy and paired really well with the dry spice on the wing. Absolutely delicious! - Caesar Salad: Each lettuce leaf was well-dressed with grated parmesan, breadcrumbs, and dressing. Super easy to share, and every bite was delicious. - Garlic Bread: Cheesy, straightforward garlic bread served with marinara sauce. If you're able to hold onto some of the bread, it is amazing with the lasagna vodka sauce. - Grandma's Meatballs: My friend prides himself in his meatball recipe and really loved these. They hold their shape and have a great texture -- definitely a recipe that's been perfected after over two decades. - Emmy's Spaghetti and Meatballs: We all loved this one. The flavor is very well-balanced, and the sauce sticks to the noodles so perfectly that there's hardly anything left on the plate to clean up. We were impressed that this pasta dish didn't leave us feeling super heavy afterwards. And also, more meatballs to enjoy if you ran out of the appetizers. - Cadillac Lasagna: A dish I don't think I can order anywhere else -- this is an al-dente (!) lasagna bathed in vodka sauce, pesto, and ricotta. The texture of the lasagna pairs so well with the soft creaminess of the ricotta and the vodka sauce. My personal favorite of the night! - Strawberry Panna Cotta: Unsure if this was on the menu, but it was a part of the Monday meal deal. Basically the dessert and wine are free :) Vibes were very charming with lots of decor, reddish lighting & cozy atmosphere. Wait was as expected as host stated near an hour without reservation but it lowkey felt like we were waiting for parties without reservations because their name was on the waitlist and they were waiting for those parties to arrive. Got seated at the bar which I don't mind but I felt like there was little to no interaction from the staff. It was up to the point that we just wanted to pay and leave because the lack of service prolonged our visit. Because the kitchen steps away from the bar, we can see orders piling up and it questionably took us 20minutes to receive our spaghetti. They usually offer complementary bread but I guess they ran out for the night :/ Onto the food!! Emmys spaghetti: 4/5, portion size was okay and meatballs definitely tasted fresh in house but there wasn't really much of a wow factor with the spaghetti itself, sauce was delicious to carry it overall. Spicey caesar salad 100/5: this was actually the star of the show... it tasted like an authentic Caesar salad wowwww. Although Emmy's has been around 25 years, we visited for the first time on a recent rainy Friday night. We didn't realize they accept reservations and were put on a waitlist. We had some drinks a few doors down at the Cuckoo Club and were finally seated 45 minutes later. We were seated at the bar/counter, which was a little strange because the bartender was making drinks directly in front of us and was not very friendly. The restaurant is dark with a red glow in the bar, with Xmas string lights throughout. My husband had the "Nona" spaghetti and meatballs ($25) and thought they were pretty good, and I had the tasty 5 layer Cadillac lasagna which was a little al dente. It included Pork + Beef Ragu, Beschamel, Pecorino, Vodka Sauce, Dollop of Ricotta and Sunflower Seed Pesto Drizzle ($26), served in a pasta bowl. We also split a spicy Caesar salad salad ($14) which was quite good and a bottle of red wine ($50), which decent tasting. If we go again, we will definitely make a reservation and perhaps bring a group as it's very fun atmosphere. In the back they have a private small room that is just beyond where two pinball machines are. The wait staff was friendly, but it's more for young hipsters than 60 year olds like ourselves. I was super excited to try out Emmy's but I was a little underwhelmed with the food, I got the classic spaghetti and my friend got the spicy vodka. The classic spaghetti was fresh and the spicy vodka had a nice kick to it, but to me the pastas lacked in flavor. The pasta was cooked to a really nice al dente and the portion sizes were huge which I appreciated. The garlic bread was a table favorite but again just lacked flavor, the bread paired with the marinara sauce made up for it. I'll be honest -- I was super nervous about the area. We're out-of-towners, we had a brand-new car, and we're a little older, so we weren't quite sure what to expect. A little side note if you're visiting: we parked in the Mercado parking lot. Do not forget to pay the parking fee in this lot, or you may get towed. Consider yourself warned. The crispy cauliflower arancini had an incredible, molten lava-like cheesy center that was just ridiculously good. And those giant, perfectly seasoned, garlicky meatballs dusted with parsley? Perfection. We had the chicken Parmesan, which was wonderful, but then came the spaghetti. The best spaghetti I've had since I was a kid. And there's something about food like that -- food that suddenly takes you back. It wasn't just a great plate of spaghetti; it reminded me of the kind of meal that makes you feel happy, comfortable, and completely taken care of.....chef's kiss! And then there was Dylan, our server. What an incredible person. He has this rich baritone voice, a wonderful sense of humor, and the kind of witty banter that makes you feel like you've known him forever. His service didn't feel like we were simply being waited on -- it felt like we were guests in his eclectic home. He made us feel so warmly welcomed, and that meant more to us than he probably realized. Did Emmy's change ownership? The food was so appalling that I'm still stunned. The Cauliflower Balls were burnt. Still, we scraped the burnt part off one of them to try it. The white sauce that came with it was sour and off. It tasted like fish. The Spaghetti with 3 Meatballs was mushy. The meatballs were also mushy and filled with small green pieces, maybe lentils? The Semolina Garlic Bread was a toasted roll akin to French bread rather than the sliced semolina bread they've always used. We ordered it with cheese and sauce, but that didn't even happen. The Chocolate Truffle Cake was more like a fudge cake and had whip cream on it. This used to be a small cake and is supposed to come with a berry sauce and ice cream as described on the menu. There were five of us celebrating our daughter's birthday. We all had something different. Spaghetti and meatballs, their awesome lasagna, chicken parmesan another dish that I don't remember, and I had the eggplant parmesan. Best EP I have ever had - crisp on the outside, tender on the inside. All the sauces were delicious! The place was PACKED on a Friday night, but our waiter was very attentive! And minimal wait for food. Emmy's waiter immediately asked if there were any food allergies. Drinks there have a fun flare - or you can go traditional. Returned recently after a good 2 plus years. The vibe is great for local folks who want a casual punk date night. its loud, colorful yet dark and the service is straight to the point withs lil hip edge. The food is more like a 3.5/5 honestly overpriced a bit but everything is now. I thought 16$ foe garlic bread was steep! Overall gave 4 stars bc its still a classic, big plate, grunge spot that I love. read more

They have a great $60 setup on Mondays, cash only. We got the spicy cesar salad, shrimp toast, eggplant Parmesan and the white wine. The pane-cotta for desert. Everything was delicious and amazing, and we even had leftovers. The ambiance is super cute and I love all the decor and lights. I would definitely make a reservation before coming on Monday. read more

My husband, I had a great experience in Emmys spaghetti Shack The food was so delicious. You could tell that it was prepared fresh and it was serve hot. The serving sides were big. We ended up sharing both plates, but crushed the whole entire dishes, not one noodle spared. The servers were awesome and Our server specifically had excellent customer service and just connecting -once he found out it was my birthday, he gifted us a complementary shot.. not saying they do that for everybody lol but maybe! It was worth the wait we didn't have reservations so we walked up. We waited like 35 minutes. This place is super hipster and in a great spot to go in the evening. read more

This restaurant was exactly what I wanted it to be! Cocktails were strong, creative and tasty! We started with Spicy Caesar salad which was good but needed more dressing. Eggplant Parmesan is one of my favorite dishes at Italian American style restaurants and theirs was delicious (bonus that they pair it with a fusilli w/ vodka sauce). My partner really enjoyed the Steak dinner as well. We will definitely bring the kiddo next time as it's very family friendly in the early evening! read more
