We came here for dinner and as you enter the restaurant, the host area is lit, but when you enter the main dining, the lights are dimmed and felt romantic. The restaurant has an upstairs as well. Our server was very nice and pleasant to speak with. Gave us some recommendations on the menu as well as drinks. We started with a cocktail and a glass of red wine. For our appetizer we had the Pulpo, coliflor and Hueso Asado. The pulpo which is octopus was nice and tender. Really delicious. The coliflor was okay. It was a little dense for me. The Hueso Asado was scrumptious, buttery and full of flavor, but half of a bone marrow was too small for an appetizer and only served with 4 small thin crostini. For entree we had the Ojo de Bife and Malbec short ribs. The Ojo de Bife which is the rib eye was delicious and grilled perfectly. The meat was not as tender, but the meat itself had a lot of flavor. The short ribs were excellent! Very tender and scrumptious. I would order this again. They should bring back the beef tongue or Lengua. I heard it is a must try. Anyway, we had a great time. This restaurant is absolutely worth checking out. The ambiance was great: stylish, welcoming, and perfect for a night out/celebration/date night without feeling overly formal. Our server was excellent and made the entire experience feel smooth and enjoyable. Despite it being a steak-forward I do recommend trying the ceviche de pescado--one of the best! However, the highlight of the night was definitely the steaks. It was easily some of the best steaks I've had in a long time. They were perfectly cooked, flavorful, and incredibly tender. You can tell they really care about the quality of the food here. Between the atmosphere, service, and tasty meal, this is definitely a place I'll be coming back to. Great selection of wines. Recommend the Altacedro Cabernet. SIDE NOTE: I didn't give this place 5 stars because of the hostess. Not the friendliest. I feel like the quality has gone down quite a bit compared to our previous visits. The ojo de bife (ribeye) came bone in this time, which was never the case before, so I do think the menu should specify that to avoid misleading guests. The bread that accompanied the steak also wasn't toasted at all, though our server kindly took it back and gave it a quick toast, which we appreciated. Service was attentive overall, but throughout dinner, our plates were cleared so quickly that it made the experience feel a bit rushed, especially since we had ordered a bottle of wine and were simply trying to enjoy the evening and catch up with friends. On a positive note, the wine recommendation paired really well with our steaks. The yuca fries tasted a little stale, while the gem salad was decent but nothing particularly memorable. I told a friend I wanted to be surprised with dinner at a place we hadn't visited before, and she chose Lolinda. Funny enough, once I got there, I realized I had actually been before, possibly for my birthday last year. I remember having a great experience back then, enjoying a parrillada and finishing with delicious churros, but I never wrote a review since I was caught up celebrating. This time, we decided to explore different options. We started with the octopus, which was beautifully prepared, and the pão de queijo served with a honey butter that was absolutely irresistible. For the main course, we ordered the ribeye with broccolini. The broccolini had a subtle kick of spice that I actually really enjoyed, and the texture and doneness were just perfect. Their cocktail menu offers a great variety. We had a caipirinha and a margarita made with both tequila and mezcal such a bold and flavorful combination. Service was excellent. Our server whose name sounded something like Jeffrey (but not quite!) was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. To finish, I tried the alfajores, served with a creamy accompaniment that tied everything together beautifully. We left with a great taste in our mouths and an even better impression of the place. I went as part of a friends' birthday dinner. This was one of the few places she could find that fit the party's particular dietary needs. The food was not all bad but aspects left something to be desired. The same can be said about the service. Food wise, I got the octopus and split a side with another person. I don't think any of the sides were worth it. They're quite expensive for a pretty meh portion size and experience. I tried a bite of my friend's potato side dish since she said it's just potato and it was a very whatever potato. We asked for a photo, the person never came back. We asked for clarification on items, that also ended up incorrect. I'm not sure if they're used to everything being shared but they placed items completely randomly. Given it was a large party, having them placed async is completely expected. It's the fact that they didn't bother to put things with the right people. This is a popular bday spot it seems. The whole experience was not bad, and the food was delicious. I ordered the Yuca croquettes, ceviche, hanger steak frites and my friend ordered the Ribeye. After asking for medium pink, my steak was served bleeding and when I asked for it to be cooked more, they did that without issue. I understand it's a bit of a faux pas to ask for medium at a steak restaurant, but I appreciate the accommodations. Fries were oily so I had to avoid them but the stand out was the yuca croquettes which were crisp on the outside and buttery and soft inside with a delicious sauce. The server took away my appetizer before I finished and also took my silverware so I was waiting for a fork before I could eat my main. No big deal, but just hyper vigilant. We were checked up on no less than 5 times after starting our meal, drinks were never empty and the staff was very sweet and accommodating. The entry area is spacious and has a very open and comfortable feel which is contrasted by the tables which are pretty tightly spaced and close to together so much so that I could hear the people on both sides of me and had to elevate my volume above any normal level to talk during my meal. I think the overall space could be better organized. It's DARK. Not dimly lit, almost had to turn on my phone flashlight to see my dinner table. When you step inside Lolinda, the space opens up into a large room with dim lighting that transports you out of the Mission into a swanky date spot with just the right level of hubbub. We didn't have to wait to grab a seat in the bar area and the service was very efficient. If you're looking for a place to impress a first date or a fun happy hour spot, I would check it out. Amazing service and all the food that came out was exquisite. The vegetable skewer was grilled and charred to perfection with so much flavor. Bone marrow could've been charred on top a bit more but the jam and bread were nice additions that did elevate the flavor profile. Short rib was incredibly tender and the ribeye was cooked a little more than medium rare but still delicious. Honestly every dish that came out was tasted amazing! To end the special night, we got the milk and cookies (spiking it with bourbon!) and that was such an amazing end to the night. Amazing as always, I haven't been back in about 6 months or so but I do love coming here. I could no longer stay away, the ceviche mixto was as delicious as the other times I've had it. The asado mixto was so good ! The meat was so tender and the potatoes were so soft and cooked to perfection. I love that Lolinda's quality never differs and is always consistent ! I made my reservation on the same night which I always recommend especially on weekends. It was fairly busy inside but the place is just as beautiful as ever. We came to Lolinda on a Sunday night for their Prime Rib dinner after seeing it all over social media. Lolinda is an Argentinian steakhouse known for their bbq and we were super excited to try the prime rib. Between 2 people we shared the pan de queso, crispy brussel sprout apps and an order of the prime rib. This was plenty of food for us and we loved the apps! The soft pillowy cheese bread is served with a decadent honey butter and the brussel sprouts were great with roasted squash and chopped dates. Finally the star of the show, the prime rib. It's $68 for a 16oz prime rib with creamy mashed potatoes and some sautéed spinach and carrots. The prime rib was tender but I wish it was more flavorful and I have to say it was a bit on the smaller side for 16oz. I did really enjoy the horseradish sauce though which added a nice boost of flavor. Overall a pretty good meal and easier to get a table at than the other prime rib spot in the city. Another celebration dinner! I was totally looking forward to visiting Lolinda, the ambiance/interior was gorgeous, definitely one of those dark steakhouse vibes. Service was very slow, we had a couple different people take our order and it took 20 minutes to even put our entree in. It was a particularly busy night, it felt like it was everybody's birthday that day. We order pretty much the whole menu, the portions are small and the sides for the steaks are even smaller and pricier. Favorite bite was the corn fritter/ceviche/ ribeye. Came here last minute on a Saturday at 10:30pm. It's romantic and cozy inside, very empty at that hour. The waiter was so kind and moved us to a booth. For drinks, I got a passionfruit lemon drop. It was okay, just too bitter and strong for my liking. We started with the artichoke hearts of palm salad and it was delicious with a citrus dressing with chunks of avocado. Really not too impressed with my experience here. We specifically made a reservation during happy hour after seeing it advertised online and wanted to take advantage of it. To start, we waited about 15 minutes for our table -not outrageous, but still worth mentioning. Once we were seated, our waiter dropped off the menus and disappeared immediately. We were never given a happy hour menu, so we had to pull it up on their website ourselves and decide what to order. Our waiter didn't check on us at all while we were waiting and chatting for what felt like at least 20 minutes. When he finally came back, we were told that happy hour was only available at the bar. This was extremely frustrating because that information was never mentioned--neither online nor by anyone at the restaurant. By that point, we had already planned our entire order around the happy hour menu and had to completely rethink everything. The food itself was pretty decent. We ordered several items to share, including the Brussels sprouts, crispy pork belly, Spanish octopus, croquettes, empanadas, and ceviche. I love ceviche, and that was definitely the highlight. The rest of the dishes were fine but nothing memorable. We came to Lolinda on Sunday for restaurant week, but they're actually known for their Sunday prime rib special. For restaurant week we got a four course dinner for $75. The service was a little chaotic however it was the prime rib special day, so it was packed. We started out with the empanada with caramelized onions, spinach, and cheese. The empanada was crispy on the outside, the filling was rich delicious. We then also got the fried calamari with their ailoi. The calamari was cooked really well, not too oily. I liked how crispy it was. So far it was a strong start! For the third course, we got the 100% Argentinean Grass Fed beef with roasted potatoes, chimichurri butter. Surprisingly the steak was kind of hard to cut through, it was seasoned and cooked really well though. The chimichurri was a perfect sauce for the steak, it added a lot of depth. The potatoes were cooked perfectly. I really liked the buttery, garlic flavor. I like their choice and fingerling potatoes with the steak as well. The sourdough on the side was great, the crust was a little tough, and it was nice to use the chimichurri butter on it too. At this point, I realize this is a very heavy meal, probably should've gotten the salad rather than empanadas. For dessert, I got the pumpkin flan with whipped cream, candied pumpkin seeds. We had an amazing dining experience at Lolinda. The food here is great and every dish we ordered was excellent. We started with the ceviche de pescado which had just the right amount of citrusy flavor while still allowing the fresh seafood to shine. The accompanying corn fritter is delicious. We also had the bone marrow which was yummy but keep in mind this dish is not very large so you'll be lucky to get about 4 crostini's worth of bone marrow. The beef tartar was another standout. Our main course was the steak and it was cooked a perfect medium. This is a great place for date night or a night out with the girls. It is dimly lit so if you wear glasses don't forget them lol. The service here is excellent. Very attentive servers and waitstaff. The only drawback to this restaurant is the location. It is located in a sketchy part of San Francisco and parking can be tough. Lolinda is perfect for a date night. The two of us shared an appetizer of mushroom empanadas, papas (potatoes in chimichurri seasoning), and the Gaucho (prime bone-in ribeye steak for 2). While the papas and steak were great flavoring and cooked well, I think we can pass on it next time. The empanadas were delicious though - after the first bite, we both agreed that this is how all empanadas should taste. The drinks were also great - the Garden by The Fire is their version of a mojito and their Negroni was also perfectly tasting, not too much alcohol while semi-strong. Lolinda was the worst dining experience I've had in a while. Our server was fine at first, but boy was he inconsiderate of my time and feelings. He asked if we needed anymore time, and we asked him for five minutes. Somehow, he comes back in twenty minutes. During those twenty minutes, I saw another server talk to him and him closing tables--I don't mind that! I used to work in the food industry and I understand there are a lot of things you have to manage. This guy though, he can't manage it! He even spent time bussing tables before he made his way over to me. He saw my dissatisfied face and asked if I was okay, while gesturing a thumbs up. Hate that. Most servers would have the decency to apologize for making you wait so long. I told him "well, that took a bit." And he had nothing to say in response. He checked up on us twice. Once to bring us a fun fact about bone marrow, and then again to ask us how we liked his bone marrow fact (it was cool, pairing bone marrow with dessert wine). On his second visit, we asked if he could bring us some ketchup. He said yeah, and then we never saw him ever again. Lol. Luckily we asked the manager for ketchup when the manager checked up on us too. He ended up getting us ketchup right away. Oh wait, our server checked up on us three times actually. The first being "you guys didn't order any drinks right?" after we gave him our dessert wine list. Lol. Perfect date night spot with the best pork chop in the city. The drinks are fab and the meats are absolutely cooked perfectly. Haven't had a bad item there and always look forward to going back. Only thing is the bone marrow appetizer is very rich so if you're not looking for that then I would skip that app. read more
