I almost never leave reviews online, but honestly, Equal Parts completely blew me away the other night and I felt like I had to drop some credit where it's due. First off, the vibe in here is just right. It's got that cool, relaxed energy where you instantly feel welcome, but it still feels like a special spot to hang out for hours. Now, for the food and drinks - absolute perfection: - The Oysters: Super fresh, ice cold, and perfectly prepped. Hands down some of the best I've had - EVER. - The Chicken: Look, just order it. Unbelievably juicy, insane flavor, crispy skin - literally couldn't ask for better. - Everything Else: We tried a bunch of stuff across the menu and literally every single plate was a hit. Zero misses. As for the drinks, the bartenders here seriously know what they're doing. You have to try the Carpe Diem - super refreshing and balanced - and whatever you do, do NOT leave without getting a banana carajillo. It's ridiculously smooth and the banana really comes through. I would choose it over any espresso martini every time. If you're anywhere near SF, do yourself a favor and check this place out. Since the dining experience was for my birthday they had a couple of surprises - but I won't divulge since it's special. My friend and I ordered probably too much food but we were excited to try it all. The maitake tempura is a must- but note, it's a lot of food! We also ordered the Roasted Octopus and Fried Chicken. Their cocktail menu was fun and varied. My friend even had a couple of glasses of wine. Equal Parts is quite the vibe. I really loved the ambiance from the moment you walk in, throughout the restaurant, and all the way to the outdoor dining area. It's beautifully designed and definitely a place to see and be seen. Also loved the cat! The food was average overall. We tried the shrimp cocktail, fries, lamb ribs, and bone marrow. The shrimp cocktail was probably my favorite. The shrimp were fresh, large, and tasty, and I loved the presentation in the fish bowl. The fries were standard, and the lamb and bone marrow were both fine, just nothing I'd necessarily come back for. The chocolate mousse was a miss for me. I ended up sending it back and getting the sorbet instead, which was much better. It was a bit awkward as the waiter made me describe what I didn't like about it and then came back and asked for more feedback - I just didn't like it at all. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I did really enjoy the Carpe Diem. It was light, refreshing, and easy to drink. The service was my least favorite part of the experience. The host was very accommodating and moved us to the beautiful outside patio on request, but our waiter, Tommy, wasn't warm or attentive. He did not smile even once. We were having drinks and appetizers for about 45 minutes and no one came to take our entrée order, so I eventually had to flag someone down. Equal Parts nails the atmosphere. The art, entrance, and tropical-inspired design immediately transport you and make the space feel like an escape from the city. Service was great from start to finish. We were checked in promptly and even seated a little before our reservation time (We had an 8:45pm Wednesday reservation). We weren't sure what we wanted to drink, so the bartender took the time to ask what we typically enjoy and gave us some great recommendations. Once seated, the service hit that sweet spot of being attentive without hovering. We never felt rushed or like someone was constantly checking in, so we could actually settle in and enjoy dinner. The standout cocktail for me was the "What Da Fig", it was smooth, fruity, and balanced without being too spirit-forward. I would genuinely return just to order this drink again. Our favorite dish was easily the beets and carrots with yogurt, pistachios, and carrot top salsa verde. So good. The flavors were bright and well balanced, the pistachios brought a great crunch, and somehow the beets had none of the overpowering earthiness they can sometimes have. I need to know the secret! The maitake mushroom tempura was more of a mixed bag. The mushrooms were fried beautifully with a great crisp texture, but I wanted more seasoning. Even with the accompanying sauce, the flavor fell a little flat. The fries were solid- thin, crispy, and served with really good sauces. Very disappointing, do not come here for late night happy hour. Was very excited to try Equal Parts after hearing great reviews on the social medias. Unfortunately, I will have no part in equal parts moving forward. The management and hospitality were the issue at Equal Parts. The waiter was quite rude and refused to allow me to order off the late night menu despite it being advertised online and on the instagrams. Waiter then argued in front of customers with bartender who attempted to fix the problem by honoring the late night happy hour menu. Management and waiter did not seem to care about the issue and told me that they would fix the website. Waiter and management made no attempts to offer similar items or apologize for the misleading advertisements. I've been here for just drinks but we watched the Spain Argentina World Cup final and had a good time, As always the ambiance is great, almost feels like a vacation. And the drinks are very good, both cocktails and their wine list. The food menu is good for a brunch vibe but the one area it lacked was the service. What a cute vibey spot. We came for a birthday party and they did a great job doing a set menu. The maitake mushrooms, kanpachi, and the grilled branzino were definitely the highlights. I had high hopes for the cioppino but it was too tart sour for my liking. The fried chicken was pretty tasty but since it was last to come out, we were way too full. The drinks were great! I had dinner service for the first time last night & it was an excellent experience. Reservations are strongly recommended as they are very popular and busy but the long bar area is first come first serve. I was able to make reservations a few weeks in advance for 7 PM on a Saturday. The main dining room is up a few steps and is beautiful, has high ceilings with sky lights, low profile furniture & soft lighting with candles on the dining tables. There is an outdoor deck but I am not sure if they have any heaters but everyone who was sitting outside was wearing their jackets. I reserved a table inside. Service is amazing! We were warmly greeted by our server, who was helpful guiding us through the menu. We like to share plates & this food menu is designed for that. Cocktails feature many ingredients made in house & I had the What the Fig cocktail (honeydew & cucumber infused vodka, Dolin vermouth, falernum) and later had the Ai Papaya (clarifed papaya infused pisco, dairy, lemon, simple syrup). Both cocktail were unique & very tasty. For food, we had: Fried Maitake Mushrooms - we were warned in advanced that this is a big portion, but we were very hungry and ate the whole thing. It was not greasy although it was fried, and had a mild dipping sauce on the side. Shrimp Cocktail - big juicy shrimp was super fresh. Kanpachi Crudo - delicately prepared & plated & was delicious. Octopus - I personally thought that it was just ok & thought that it was on the drier side than other octopus that I have had. Lamb Ribs - our server warned us that most people expect lamb chops, but these are lamb ribs, which are fattier and richer than lamb chops and to be prepared. I'm glad that she set our expectations. With a mesmerizing floral archway, Equal Parts draws customers in to experience delicious coastal cuisine. The restaurant has a beautifully decorated interior as well as a cozy tree-lined outdoor seating area. The greatest surprise was meeting Coco and Marco, the restaurant owner's cats, who would often wander table to table or cozy next to a diner. Standout main dishes were the braised pork shank and roasted octopus. Both were so tender, generous portions, and worth the price. The only dish that fell short for us was the dark chocolate mousse, which was a frozen swirl of chocolate with a side of toasted bread (the same bread given for the cioppino). The dish was not like any traditional mousse and the bread felt too heavy to be dessert. Despite our disappointment with the dessert, the appetizers and mains were overall amazing. Well, balanced and flavorful with a beautiful clean presentation. TBH, while the drink was tasty I actually liked the condensed air on top more than the drink itself. Whatever ingredients went into making is very well done. Given the elevated atmosphere of the space, I thought that drinks would cost $20 plus but they're actually decently priced at about $16 each. For appetizers, the carpaccio was really good - good mix of flavors and textures. Shrimp cocktail - fine, basic. Dinner entrees - rough. Everything was tan and fatty - missing flavor, acid, veggies or something: branzino was the best of the bunch - pork and lamb rib were fatty and bland. I've been wanting to try Equal Parts for a while now and finally found a time to go with a girlfriends for a girl's night out. The vibe and ambiance is great, the minute you walk in, it has a fun Tulum atmosphere with natural wood and gorgeous lighting. For food we got the little gem salad, cured trout, green cioppino, and fried chicken to share. It was definitely more than enough for 2 people to share but everything was really yummy. My favorite had to be the cured trout with crème fraîche, trout roe, and watercress which was a great app. The trout had a nice smokiness to it and it paired well with the simple gem salad. For entrees, the green cioppino was good with a sour tomatillo broth that was a bit more saucy that soupy. I think I still prefer a traditional cioppino as I missed the nice light seafoody flavor that I love. The fried chicken was the surprise of the night as it was really nicely fried with a nice crunchy exterior and really juicy inside. The red pepper salmorejo sauce was fantastic and with the chicken, the best bite of the meal. Definitely worth trying out and make sure you make a reservation in advance! read more

The cocktails are fun and creative, the staff is genuinely lovely, and the food is surprisingly great across the board -- the burger is juicy and well‑seasoned, the pork chilaquiles come drenched in just the right amount of excessive sauce, and the fries arrive with three dipping sauces (the white BBQ is the standout). But the elephant in the room -- or rather, the smell -- is impossible to ignore. There was a persistent bathroom/sewage odor throughout the space that completely undercut what should've been a really enjoyable brunch. It's hard to settle in and appreciate good food when the air smells like a toilet. If they can fix the odor issue, this place has real potential. The salad was good, but they go heavy on the dressing which I actually like but I know some people prefer lighter salads. The trout with roe was my second favorite dish. Love trout, love roe! Beef carpaccio was really good but less memorable than the trout for me. The branzino was cooked well and had a good flavor. Great shareable entree! The dark chocolate mousse was odd to me. The flavor was fine with the little olive oil and salt. It's served with bread which I skipped. The texture was not mousse imo because it was too firm to be like mousse. It was like soft chocolate (but not soft like mousse). It's hard to describe, but the plating was pretty. Would pick a different dessert for an event here. The drinks that we had were marvelous I think we also had the seafood carpaccio, which was not as good as the beef carpaccio but still amazing. Equal Parts has instantly become one of my favorite spots in SF. The Mexico City (with Tulum's elegance) inspired vibe is absolutely stunning - the patio is bright and lively, and the bar inside is gorgeous (so is the whole set up inside). We even spotted two cats wandering around, which made the whole experience feel that much more charming and unique! The cocktail menu is creative. The Carpe Diem was an absolute standout and I should have ordered that on repeat. The Peachy Blinders was good but a bit more forgettable compared to Carpe Diem. The Miso Spicy is essentially a spicy margarita, which is tasty, though they were a bit heavy-handed with the ice. Food-wise, we did great! We started out with the Maitake Mushrooms Tempura and got a whole plate of perfectly fried mushroooms and a delicious and not overwhelming dip. The Green Coppino was a great bowl of seafood with two pieces of garlic tomato toast (yes very Spanish). The Whole Roasted Branzino was crispy outside, incredibly tender inside, and every bite offered a different texture; I ate the entire fish, head and all, and didn't regret a single bite. And honestly that was a good amount, we left with enough and rounded the night with a slice of pizza. Overall the menu is a fun but eclectic mix - Mexican-inspired seafood and landfood (haha), and fried chicken and fries - seemed a bit Spanish and Asian inspired too - and while we loved the variety, we did miss having a simple side of greens (and some carbs which could be tortillas or rice or beans) to round things out. This place is such a treat and has hidden gem energy for sure! You enter through a long shadowy outdoor walkway with the sounds of a rainforest, which sets the ambiance immediately. The interior is in a historic SF location (og ye olde spaghetti factory okaaay) and it shows in the artistry and agelessness of the exposed beams. The interior design of the restaurant has a lot to love, lots of soft curves and unexpected shapes inform the sumptuous experience dining here over all. I also loved how even tho they have tvs inside and outside, they weren't showing sports on all of them, instead MTV classic music videos, very immaculate vibes. For the service, our host Aidan, and server Tommie/y were exceptional. Good pacing of the service and warm treatment throughout made this a delightful dining experience from beginning to end. Got a couple drinks and tried several things on the brunch menu to share. Highlights were definitely the scone, the sweet farinata, and the chilequiles. Making the trek to North Beach from S. Van Ness to check out this new and hot restaurant was quite the adventure. My friend and I took the Muni Metro and then a bus. After dinner, we decided to walk from North Beach through Chinatown back to Market St. I love how much time I've been able to spend in the city and am truly blessed to live in such a beautiful place. I had really high hopes for Equal Parts as online reviews and articles are all really positive. Overall, I loved the ambiance, the Tulum-feel as one walks into the restaurant, and the vibe. Sadly, the food was disappointing. Maitake mushroom tempura had a hard, crispy batter. Some pieces were lukewarm others were hot. Roasted beets and carrots salad - I enjoyed this dish the best. The flavors of the beets, carrots, yogurt and pistachios blended well. Kona kanpachi - friend liked, but the dish was super fishy to me. Fries - probably my favorite dish here, they were hot and crispy. Fried chicken - one of the most popular dishes according to our server - sadly a miss for me too. The chicken arrived looking like KFC original recipe and lacked flavor but was surprisingly moist. My friend and I really enjoyed the cocktails. I had the carpe diem and peachy blinders. She had the Ai papaya and pull my daisy. Price was reasonable, total for five dishes and four cocktails came out to $205, including tax and tip. This is a return for drinks and ambiance only. First time here. Sat on the patio. Really nice temperature and ambience. Loved our experience - mushroom tempura 5 stars - little gem salad. Dressing was 5 stars - lamb ribs. The vibes were great. It's very dimly lit inside and full of energy. Great place for a friend night. They've got bar seating as well if you're looking for a solo night too. The food was delicious. I only got three things from the menu so I'm sure that the other dishes are just as good. The tuna carpaccio was so yummy. The caviar was also nice. This restaurant is beautiful! From the entry way to the decor inside, you truly feel like you are away on vacation and not in the middle of SF. The staff are very welcoming and kind. The owner even stopped by to introduce himself and check in on us, so sweet! The menu has a great spread of options for food, lots to share with others, and the prices are good. They have great cocktails, I loved the Miso Spicy (jalapeño & habanero infused mezcal, white miso syrup, lime). This is a great spot for dinner, or even to grab a drink at the bar. Walking into Equal Parts feels like being instantly transported to Tulum, Mexico it's truly an experience you have to live. Located in the heart of North Beach, the restaurant is perfectly situated, and the decor brings all those warm, tropical, Tulum-inspired vibes to life. The atmosphere is trendy, elevated, and perfect for a night out. The cocktail menu is extensive and impressive. What really stands out is how bold and well-crafted the drinks are, each one delivers a strong, balanced explosion of flavor. As for the food, everything was memorable: * The beef carpaccio is a must * The tempura mushrooms are perfectly crispy * The salad with yogurt and sunflower seeds is fresh and delicious And the standout for me: the branzino OMG absolutely my favorite dish. You have to try it. The fried chicken is another surprise hit, bc incredibly crunchy on the outside, yet juicy and flavorful inside. For dessert, I had the affogato and the panna cotta, both delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. This is the perfect spot to go with friends, start your night with a fabulous pregame, and enjoy a place that feels both fancy and very "of the moment" in San Francisco. The tunnel entrance gave Tulum vibes, led up into the restaurant with great high ceilings which a nice surprise, especially in North Beach, very airy. Minimalist industrial chic with some plants. There seemed like a covered patio out back - dog friendly maybe?? We had a seat on the elevated area with nice views of the dining room. Favorite dishes: ROASTED LAMB RIBS - simple but tender and flavorful, I guess I knew lamb had ribs but I've never seen them prepared! BEEF CARPACCIO - also simple but loved the breadcrumbs which added flavor and crunch, so tasty Solid choices: MAITAKE TEMPURA, FRIES, FRIED CHICKEN - ok they know how to work that fryer well! Everything perfectly crispy, light. Do wish they were more seasoned and flavorful but they did come with different sauces. The red pepper salmorejo with fries and chicken was a nice twist to usual options. The chicken came with 2 juicy thighs. Most dishes were along the lines of "solid, cooked well, but not surprisingly not very punchy or flavorful" - including the ROASTED DELICATA & KABOCHA, BRAISED PORK SHANK, ROASTED OCTOPUS - which made them forgettable. DARK CHOCOLATE MOUSSE - I've never had such a thick mousse before, like chocolate butter, perfect for spread on the toast.. interesting with olive oil and salt, 1 piece is enough per person so perfect to share. Skip: KONA KANPACHI was unforgettable only because it tasted so fishy - I've had kanpachi countless times as sashimi/nigiri and never had it like this. Also just not very flavorful otherwise, so all you taste is fishiness. Unfortunate intro to kanpachi for one of the diners. I added some breadcrumbs from the beef carpaccio to help it out but still .. so fishy. Tried nearly all the cocktails on the menu to appropriately make recommendations: ON THE ROAD was a crowd fave, interesting, complex, well-rounded and a good sipper. MISO SPICY - I'm partial to spicy mezcal and this was a banger, not sure I got the miso though. CARPE DIEM - spicy yet refreshing with a fun cucumber foam that gave some more texture TA TA TINI & WHAT DA FIG were clean, sophisticated versions of dirty martini. We enjoyed WHAT DA FIG more for the smooth texture from the fig leaf oil. Skip: PULL MY DAISY & AI PAPAYA were on sweeter side for me. COCO & MARCO had a nice enough taste that seemed like it should be a panna cotta, which it was like halfway there because it was so thick like a smoothie.. kinda gritty and green-brown so not the most appetizing. Realizing I don't recall the PEACHY BLINDERS now - sounds good since I love Thai basil, strawberry, and shrubs, but also maybe sweet. Not sure if they were short-staffed but we had a bit of a hard time getting service - whether getting food or drink orders in or our check, noticeable since it was multiple instances and the meal ran long. read more

Love the vibes of the walkway when you're coming into the restaurant. They really try to set a scene with the smells, sounds, and decorations as soon as you're walking to the entrance. Our server was also one of the nicest waitresses we've had and she gave off big sister vibes as she gave great recommendations and went out of her way to take care of us. What Da Fig ($16): Such a lightly sweet cocktail. I hadn't had a drink in awhile and was pleasantly surprised by how well it complemented everything. You could definitely taste the notes of honeydew and cucumber too. Maitake Mushrooms Tempura ($18): So delicious and lightly dried. I didn't think this was oily at all and loved how it paired with the crème fraiche. Beef Carpaccio ($20): Probably my favorite dish of the night. I really enjoyed the texture that the breadcrumbs added. Green Cioppino ($38): I appreciated how they plated the garlic tomato toast so it wouldn't get soggy. The seafood tasted fresh and the broth was delicious. Definitely the best Cioppino that I've had. French Fries ($9): Really solid French fries and with 3 different dipping sauces. Lured in by Insta vibes and left with genuine happy vibes! Out of town friend came to visit, so I made a reservation to come in for a light dinner and drinks. Friend was surprised by this new and happening bar and especially pleased to learn we were in party central for the night. Super happening as it was also pre-Super Bowl weekend! Food and drinks were great. We had the: *AI Papaya Cocktail - Smooth, delicious initially but had a slightly too sweet after taste. *Grey Goose Dirty Martini - Good *Miso Spicy Mocktail (sub with seedlip) - So delicious! I could have another. *Arnold Palmer - not too sweet, just my taste. *Half dozen sweet Hog Island oysters - fresh and tasty *Pork Shank - fall off the bones tender and delicious *Beef Carpaccio - so delicious with the breadcrumbs and kewpie mayonnaise. Service was friendly. We had an especially nice time because we were graced with Marco the neighborhood cat's presence. He is one part of the namesake drink, Coco & Marco if you are curious. (Didn't see Coco on this visit.) Marco is a cutie and one of our neighboring table seized the opportunity to feed him some panna cotta. Of course I also had to get a selfie taken with this furry local celeb and gave him a back massage he couldn't refuse. He rubbed his cheeks on me. I was super excited to try this new restaurant but the food just didn't do it for me. I walked in around 6pm on a Sunday with a friend and there were plenty of bar seats (available for walk-in). The interior/vibes are trendy and would be a cute place to grab drinks with friends and to catch up, maybe get a couple of apps. However, every dish we ordered it felt like something was missing. Nothing terrible by any means but just lacking that "something" where you take a bite and you think about how good it is. We ordered the Roasted Beets & Carrots (4/5- plenty of restaurants serve a similar dish), French Fries (2/5- not super fresh/hot and the sauces were all basic. The red pepper salmorejo was supposed to be their house made hot sauce but it was so bad. Consistency was watery and had some citrus flavor aspect to it but that was all I could taste), Kona Kanpachi (3/5- fish was fresh), and lastly the Whole Roasted Branzino (2/5- the brown butter was good the first 2 bites then became too heavy for the rest of the fish. The citrus accoutrements did nothing for the flavor of the dish). Perhaps I'll stop by one day to grab some drinks but will not be going out of my way to get a dinner reservation here. read more

North Beach has its charm with chic and classy restaurants. Equal Parts is in another world of its own. The entrance welcomed us with a long tunnel of thatched-roof top covered either in set gay and straw. Background music was house. As we walked through, I felt like I was being welcomed to the jungle. The interior continued with the jungle tropical vibes with high wooden roof top abs dimly lit ceiling lights. The vibe is homey with loud chatter. Heading past the main dining room area is the terrace. If you want to get away from all the noise and take a breather. Terrace is a great place. It's quiet with an insulated tent wrapped with leaves to give it that jungle feel. As for food, my favorite was the beef carpaccio and cured Mt. Lassen trout. Adding breadcrumbs to the carpaccio gives it that extra dimension in your bite. The bite isn't just solely focused on fat. The smoked trout roe, with soft egg and watercress, has a perfect combo of savory, silkiness, and peppery taste. Props to the chef for making the right soft egg. I actually took some egg and mixed it with the carpaccio. Another great combo. The staff was attentive and came to our needs. Visited here's the Thursday before Valentine's Day, for an early celebration. Made a reservation for 6:45pm and it was a good thing I did! It was packed on a Thursday night, and the bar seating was filled too. Got there early, but the table was ready, so we got a spit at the bar for some drinks. I had the miso spicy and coco & Martin drinks. My partner got the Carpe diem. The Carpe diem was great, my partner had two before we sat at our table. I like the miso spicy over the coco & Martin, but both were good! Miso spicy is definitely spicy, but coco & Martin is great cool down to reset. I had to check in with the host as 6:45pm came and went. When checking in, the host asked if I wanted to sit in the patio, which was a yes, but then said it was full....soooo, the table that we got sat in had been available since we sat down at the bar. Now, it was 10-15 past our reservation and we were 15-20 minutes early. For food, we got the tempura mushrooms and dam those were so good. I would have ordered multiple orders of it and had it as dinner. I'd go back just for the mushrooms. We also got the cioppino and wagyu steak. The cioppino was a little bit of a let down, the clams and mussels had fishy taste, plus had a little grit. The sauce it came with could have been more flavorful. The Wagyu steak was pretty good, great taste and paired well with the salt and radish. However, it was fairly small for the price. Our waitress, Hannah, was great and loved having her suggestions guide our night. Hannah made the night great! It was pretty loud inside since it was packed that night, but I'd be interested in going back when it's not a busy night. read more
