I visited Casa Sofia for the first time with some friends on a weekday evening after walking by it a few times to and from nearby Oracle Park. We were able to snag a same-day reservation and felt fortunate to be seated in a spacious booth facing the bar. It gave us a comfortable spot to hang out in while taking in the colourful ambiance and decor. The restaurant was busy enough for a Tuesday evening, but not so busy that it felt overwhelming. I can imagine it gets much busier (and perhaps a bit more chaotic) on game/event days. The cocktails were delicious - well-balanced, just the right amount of strong, and not too sweet. My favourite was the pisco sour. The only downside is that they don't appear to offer happy hour or any other food or drink specials or have plans to. The food was spectacular! We shared everything family-style: - Stone fruit salad and ceviche (both vibrant and refreshing) - Grilled octopus (I almost missed this on the menu, but thankfully my friend spotted it. It ended up being one of my fave dishes and was cooked perfectly.) - Pork chop (I'd heard great things about this before visiting, so it was a must-order for us. It lived up to the hype - well-cooked and delicious.) - Arroz con mariscos (think paella, but with its own distinct flavors) - Crullers (freshly made and lighter than expected) Beyond the excellent food and drinks, the staff really elevated the experience. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and conversational. The only thing I didn't get to try this time was the platano frito, which is usually one of my fave add-ons. I guess that just means we'll have to come back again soon ;)

Good spot for nice dinner near oracle park. The plates are mostly shareable / small bites so you need to order a lot! Love the Latin American flavors and menu. Favorite bites were the octopus and the tuna tartare (presentation of the tuna was so cool). The potato puree that came with the octopus was so good!! The other dishes didn't stand out as much but everything was decent. Enjoyed the small plates more than the mains. Service was friendly and food came out pretty fast. Ambiance inside is classy and elegant.

We came here on Friday night and it was so good! They had so many Pisco drinks and I had a guava one and it was really good. The restaurant was also really nice decorated and it made it seem very high-end. The service was fast as well and got some house chips from the chef.

Came to Casa Sofia for a birthday celebration for 3 after another restaurant unexpectedly told us they were closed at the last minute. We walked in around 5:30 PM without a res, and they were able to accommodate us right away! First, the space is gorgeous with the warm colors, decor, and lighting, making it feel upscale while still being cozy and comfortable. The host and our server were also incredibly kind and knowledgeable throughout the meal. The meal started with complimentary chips with aioli, and they were dangerously addictive. For appetizers, we ordered the mini empanadas and chicken almondegas, and both were AMAZING. The sauces that paired were so good we kept it for the main dishes even though we may not have needed it. For mains, we shared the crab ravioli special (delicious, just wish there was a little more), the arroz con mariscos (perfect if you love seafood), and the skirt steak al mojo de ajo, which was cooked perfectly. Ended with a very tiny chocolate dessert for the birthday, super cute. Such a great experience from the food to the service. We'll definitely be back to try the tasting menu next time!

Absolutely wonderful! I truly ascended at dinner tonight. Every single dish was immaculate and not to mention gorgeous. One of the best dinners I've had in a while! The restaurant itself is so beautiful as well, especially the bar and the artwork above it, just stunning. Our service was great and we all agreed that we did not have a single bad dish. Our favorites were the smoked tuna, oysters, grilled octopus, empanadas, crullers and guava cheesecake but really just try as many things as you can! This is really good food that just makes you want to dance

It's rare to find a place in San Francisco that checks every box. Food, atmosphere, service, and location--this place delivers on all of them. I kept looking for something to critique and simply couldn't find a flaw. Everything was executed at a high level from start to finish. This is exactly the kind of restaurant you recommend to out-of-town visitors with complete confidence, knowing they'll be well taken care of and leave impressed. Perfection all around. Special shout out to our server, Julius! BB

First time coming. We caught uber because parking is horrible around this area. We came 45 minutes before they closed as well. Restaurant was beautiful decorated. Host was very nice. All the food was delicious just wish portions were bigger. I wouldn't recommend the tres mangos because it was all ice. The crullers were ok. Try it if in the neighborhood. Def will be back to try a plate because we just had tapas.

After attending one of his other Restaurants (Altamiranos) on Fulton in the spring I was informed that Casa Sofia was in the works and would be opening in the next 6 months; so I had this place on my radar. The restaurant did not disappoint. The decor inside the restaurant is homie and inviting, clean lines and that open space gives it that feeling. Our server was nice and attentive but I noted a few issues that cost them a star, when first asked about drinks I asked for a bottle of Cava to start there is only one on the menu ( I looked it up before going to the restaurant) he was unfamiliar and said wines change all the time and didn't know what I was referring about. We were put in a booth and I am tall, left handed, and had to sit with my back to the server so the seating arrangements for me was probably the worst table in the restaurant. The foods was absolutely delicious and didn't disappoint except the plantains that were cut into thick pieces and had more of a home fries type texture (fried but not crispy). The other thing that cost them a star was "marking the table" the dishes came, and we had some plate and silverware changes between items but they often happened after the next dishes were delivered. Items like the crab toast is a single slider so if you are sharing dishes I wouldn't recommend this one to share, or they need to change it to bite size buns or actually change it to a crostini with crab instead .

Saw they have added lunch hours. What a delicious surprise! Omelette rivals Balthazar (IYKYK). Potato chip app is crazy good.

We had dinner at Casa Sofia tonight with four people, and overall it was a really enjoyable meal. We started with the Tres Mangos cocktail (reposado tequila, mezcal, mango, chamoy, and lime). It was refreshing and well balanced--not too sweet. The first glass had a small crack in it, so we sent it back. They apologized and quickly made us a new one, so no issues there. We ordered quite a few appetizers, and the two standouts for me were the ceviche and the octopus. Both were packed with flavor without being overly salty, which I really appreciated. The shishito peppers and broccolini were also excellent. The mushroom empanadas were tasty and worth ordering as well. My favorite dish of the night was the pork chop with pears. The pork chop was cooked perfectly--moist, juicy, flavorful, and tender. The sweetness of the pears paired really well with the pork and brought the whole dish together. It was easily the best entrée we had. Dessert was also solid. We tried both the chocolate cake and the cheesecake, and both were a great way to end the meal. Overall, the food was well executed, the service was friendly, and for four people we ordered plenty of food and spent about $500, including drinks. If you're looking for a nice dinner with creative dishes and quality ingredients, Casa Sofia is definitely worth checking out. Btw, they have a few private rooms for larger oarties and the rooms were really pretty

Casa Sophia is an amazing new chic Latin American restaurant near Oracle Park. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. The manager (or perhaps restaurant owner I am not sure..) made our experience exceptional and paired each our dishes with the right wine. Our starters were the fried pantains (best I've ever had) and the empanadas. Both were fabulous. Our mains were the ribs and the halibut. Ribs were sweet and juicy and fell right off the bone. The fish was cooked perfectly and we were told it was caught that morning! Those were paired with a special "orange" wine. I would ask for it again. Dessert was the best decadent glazed doughnut paired with a fine port. From start to finish this was a perfect night!

Stumbled upon a new spot in sf after work. Great tasting food and service. They gave me some chips and even more when I finished them. Waiters were attentive and made sure I got everything I needed. Will definitely come back. The interior has a very nice design and traces back to Hispanic roots. The music wasn't too loud and it kept getting more packed the longer I stayed. Come check this place out

We had to flag her down a few times whenever we needed something instead of her checking in on us. We ordered the bistek sandwich and bistek plate. The sandwich was actually really good, although it was a little hard to eat like an actual sandwich because the meat wasn't sliced up. I basically had to eat the steak separately. The sauce it came with aka crack sauce, was SO good. I ended up grabbing a couple to take home because it went well with pretty much everything. Just beware that they charge an extra $1 per sauce. The plantain fries were good, but I wish they were a little crispier. The bistek plate, however, was probably a 3/5 for me. It lacked flavor and just wasn't anything particularly special. We ended up using the crack sauce to give it more flavor. The chicken empanadas were also pretty bland. Overall, the restaurant has a loud, lively atmosphere and the experience was alright. There were definitely some hits and misses, but that crack sauce was easily the highlight!

With no planning, we showed up at Pacifico, which was just a couple blocks from our concert. The restaurant was a little weird - it sits within the lobby of the SF Jazz recital hall, and all the signs are for "B-Side". It's a little unclear to me still whether the restaurant is called B-Side or Pacifico, but the waiter told us that Pacifico is new, with a new chef and new menu. The inspirations are Colombia, Peru, and California cooking, which was very appealing to us. We ordered two items off the specials menu (Tuna Tostada and Short Rib) and one from the permanent menu (Hearts of Palm Ceviche). The Tuna Tostada was both of our favorite. It was light, refreshing, and there were these little pops of flavor from burnt, deeply fried jalapeños. The Hearts of Palm ceviche was interesting and unique (a completely vegetarian dish, but made in the style of ceviche and with leche de tigre). Ultimately, it was more interesting than appetizing. Finally, the Short Rib was well cooked, but unfortunately just way too sweet for our palate.

I also wasn't a big fan of the dessert, so I'd probably skip that next time. Overall, though, the food was fresh and flavorful, the dishes were beautifully presented, and we enjoyed the experience. I'd definitely come back--especially for that salmon ceviche!

I had to order the signature poc-chuc but I wasn't hungry enough for a full entry so I got a poc-chuc taco and also a chicken thigh taco. Each taco was LOADED so this was more than enough of a meal for me at such a cheap price. The poc-chuc pork meat was an insane flavor - while the citrus marinade wasn't super obvious like it didn't taste citrus-y, it tasted like no other pork I've had before and so flavorful and moist. The meat came on a freshly made tortilla as well - it was piping hot! And the tortilla was like no other corn or flour tortilla Ive had before. It was obviously very fresh and a little fluffy, though not to the level of naan or arepas. It just really complimented the meat. The chicken was fine but paled in comparison to the pork, so I shoulda got two of the signature. There was also free chips and salsa at the table. The salsa was also freshly made, but watch out the yellow/orange one has a strong kick to it! Small hole in the wall serving up stellar Yucatecan cuisine at a reasonable price!…read more We ordered the namesake poc chuc plate and three panuchos to share, trying salpicon (my favorite), poc-chuc (my bfs favorite), and asada (our least favorite, but not bad). Portions of all were pretty large, we left super full and struggled to finish everything. The food was so damn good, writing this review is making me want to go back already! Chips were thick and crispy, they came with two salsas, one of which was way too spicy for me, but loved the other. The ambiance and service are what you'd expect from an older more traditional spot in The Mission. Would absolutely come back here and recommend it to anyone that truly loves food and experiencing other cultures and cuisines.
