AMAZING Latin restaurant in the Moscone Center vicinity! The decor is absolutely gorgeous, with so many beautiful patterns, colors and textures that feel both welcoming and happy! They did a great job taking advantage of the California weather by having gigantic windows that create the feeling of outdoor indoor when open. Food was absolutely spectacular! Spectacular! Empanadas were delicious, we got the sampler and I can't tell you which one was best. Their lomo salteado is amazing, perfectly flavored and seasoned and perfectly cooked as well. Portions are so great that we didn't have room for dessert, but they have tres leches so I will have to go back to try it! Came here for a work luncheon. The ambiance is really nice. Very decorative. The service was great. I ordered the lobster enchiladas. It was good but a little bland. When they brought out the food, they brought 1 of 5 entrees. After about 10 mins, they brought 3 more entrees. Unfortunately, I was the last one who had to wait for their food and I'm the slowest eater. I think it's better to bring everyone's dishes at the same time. I understand that they could be short staffed and they wanted the food to get out to the customer hot and fresh. The prices are pretty too expensive for me. Every item was about $30+. Some of the best Peruvian food I've tried so far !! Ceviche was excellent, beef empanadas and the chicharrón are must try dishes, and the shareable fish was so fun and very well cooked. The restaurant worked with us to develop a menu that included appetizers a main dessert that fit all of the different allergy requirements in our group and also that was within our budget. Jalea, and traditional Peruvian ceviche. For the entrees we had Lomo Saltado, rice and their fusion Aji seafood pasta. for dessert, dessert we had mango mousse and tres leches cake. First time back since the rebrand to El Dorado. This place is amazing for the vibe alone, very instagram friendly. Love their pisco drinks (even just pisco on the rocks). You have to get the pescado antichuchero if you have 3 or more people for a dinner. It's huge and amazing. Trust me I always go back here for that dish. I made a reservation for a Saturday at 7pm for 4 people. It wasn't needed. The space is big and there was only 1 large table of about 12 people plus a couple of smaller tables including ours. It was obvious the table of 12 had most of the staff's attention. But we did get friendly service when they came around to us. We ordered the yuca fries and had to do a double order because it was so good. We were not crazy about the olive dip but the yellow dip was delicious. Sometimes when I get yuca fries it's so dry and starchy but not here. Fried and crispy to perfection. The ceviche trio was recommend but I liked the mango ceviche more. The tortilla chips towards the bottom of the basket were mostly broken into small pieces though. For our mains we ordered the whole fish and chicken fried rice. The whole fish could easily feed 6 people. I liked that they cut it into pieces for easy serving. The platter also came with salad, mussels, shrimp, calamari, hominy, potatoes and dip. This was a great dish to share. The chicken fried rice was also great. It had a lot of chicken in it. Although, likely not cooked in a wok, it had good flavor. read more

El Dorado seems to be tailor-made for group dinners with friends. A few reasons why I think so: 1. They were able to accommodate a table of 10 on pretty short notice. This isn't always a great sign, but the food was actually outstanding overall, so no fear on that account. 2. There are so many items designed to share. The empanada sampler, the ceviche trio, the pitchers of margaritas or sangria, the taco sampler, but mostly the PESCADO ANTICUCHERA. This whole grilled snapper is a MEAL. It comes out on a giant platter littered with other seafood, sauces, potatoes, salad, and more. It's aching to be photographed, and absolutely delicious. 3. The staff seemed used to handling large parties, and took everything we were asking for in stride. If you're looking for a spot that can deliver a lot of flavor to a large group of your friends, El Dorado is a good call. read more

Other faves included the empanadas, stir fry noodles with beef, lomo saltado and fried rice. Portions were large, everything was flavorful and service was exceptional. Visited with a rather large group and the wait staff was very accommodating! I love the interior of this restaurant, it is so colorful and inviting. Particularly the green wine wall! We tried so many items on the menu and my favorite three had to be the Lomo Salado, the empanada sampler, and the Pescado Frito. The beef empanadas were absolutely delicious and had a bit of a kick, whereas the chicken was mild. I appreciated the nod to the authentic lomo with potatoes instead of french fries. Although I am not a ceviche fan, I did enjoy the shrimp ceviche and mango ceviche from the sampler! Very fresh! When it came to flavor, there was nothing missing! Unfortunately, many of the plates came out at various temperatures and were a bit inconsistent. Here for a work trip and needed something that wasn't another sad airport sandwich, so I wandered into El Dorado on a Tuesday night and instantly felt smug about my decision. The place was lively without being chaotic, and I didn't even have to wait for a table. The staff was genuinely friendly--like, "we actually enjoy being here" friendly--which already put this miles above most business-trip dinners. I ordered the pulpo sarandiado (octopus) and the Parmesan scallops, and wow, those scallops come with a cheese sauce so rich it should probably file taxes. Delicious, but pace yourself unless you want to enter a dairy coma. For drinks, the chicha sour--a pisco sour infused with purple corn--was the star. Bright, tangy, and the kind of cocktail you suddenly want to gatekeep so the whole world doesn't order it. I'll be back next time I'm in SF, mostly because I'm still thinking about the ceviche I didn't order. Consider this my promise to future me. read more

Okay, so the good - the food. It was incredible! I had the Lomo Saltado, which was great. I did find the fries with it weird (and wasn't hungry enough to eat them). The bad - the service. I want to preface by saying it was not busy. It was 2pm on a Thursday and there was only one other table. I travel for work frequently, so am almost always a solo diner. Unfortunately, it happens where I'm left largely ignored, and that happened here. It took 3 requests for water, and once my food was delivered, o was never spoken to again - not to see if the food was okay, if I needed a drink refill, etc. so to the restaurant- please don't ignore your solo female diners. The staff was so kind and answered all our questions, although I will say there were only a couple other parties eating dinner so it was a pretty quiet night in general here. The interior is stunning! Such a picture-perfect spot. The food was good, with bold flavors and plenty of shareable options which is always great for large groups. I took my sister there during the Christmas break! It was quite delicious! We were looking for a place that we could go close by and while so many places were closed this one stayed open and ready for service! We sat down and it was really quite charming and we looked at the menu. My sister got appetizers and we all really loved the starters, it was time for the main Coarse and I got the Lobster Enchiladas! Visited on a Thursday night around 7:30pm with a friend, there were several other guest at the bar and in the dining room but we were able to walk in and grab a table without a wait. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of tables and seats, super decorated and instagramable. Food: Chicharron Croncante - an appetizer with fried pork belly, yucca fries and salad, pork belly was tender with a crunchy deep fried exterior, super rich and fatty well prepared but wish this came with some acid like a lemon or a vinegary sauce to cut the richness, yucca fries were fried perfectly crunchy exterior with a fluffy interior paired well with the aioli, salad helped to balance the dish slightly but wish there was a bit more of it Ceviche Classico - a bit disappointing, this was watery and not as acidic and punchy as I would have liked, temperature was also more room temp could have been severed slightly cooler, fish pieces were diced on the large side, didn't seem super fresh which is a bit concerning for ceviche, would skip this one if you visit Super Arroz Chaufa - very large generous portion, rice had a nice char, but overall flavor of this dish was also a bit bland, could have used more seasoning, fried egg on top added some richness with a runny yolk, this was cooked well but lacked flavor Service was excellent, only one server for the whole dining room but very attentive, checked in throughout our meal. We were given a water carafe so had water throughout our meal. Food came out pretty quickly which was great, and plates were cleared quickly when we were done. Overall this was an okay experience plates were beautifully presented but a little lack luster in taste, perhaps we ordered dishes they are less known for. Introduced to Peruvian food over 20 years ago by a close friend who spent years doing research in Peru and when the Bay Area had very few Peruvian restaurants, I am always excited to see a new spot like Bocado open up. I have a soft spot for Aji de gallina, both my first Peruvian dish I ever had and made myself. I was surprised that I didn't like theirs more. However, after making Causa myself last year, it has been my new go-to whenever I see it on the menu. This Nikkei Causa is a twist on the traditional with a purple potato base topped with Tuna tartare and was my favorite item of the night. Ocopa as I love Peruvian corn and the Churrasco a lo pobre grilled steak rounded out our dinner and makes me want to go to Peru now. But until then, I will just have to return to Bocado to satisfy my cravings. read more

I've had Peruvian cuisine before and this place is a Latin fusion restaurant that has good Mexican, and South American plates. Made reservations and was seated quickly in a nice location in this brightly light up and well decorated location off Folsom and not too far from the Bill Graham auditorium, about a 7 minute uber drive, so timely meal service was important to not miss the concert start. The service was friendly, accommodating and not rushed, even when the place started to fill up for to a Microsoft conference at the Moscone center. The ambiance is creative and the vibe feels like a locals lounge but the food was serious . We ordered the Ceviche Classico which was great, Causo Pollo, which is a chicken salad with mustard and potatoes and some spices that was light and tasty. I also ordered a plate of plantains with some wonderful dipping sauce and for desert shared a Torte de Chocolate cake that was thick , velvety and delicious, not too sweet and very dark chocolate delicious! I wanted the PAPA A LA HUANCAINA, but it was no longer available, so next time and the cocktails were also well made ! A hidden gem of a place! We discovered it shortly after they opened and since we live in the South Bay, returned for dinner last night. We sat at the bar, and Jorge the bartender not only makes excellent cocktails but gave us some insight into the menu and we enjoyed getting to know him and a little about Peruvian culture. We started with the ceviche trio (our favorite was the green ancho with shrimp). i ordered the Culichi (halibut) with a delicious green sauce, perfectly steamed vegetables and topped with cheese. it was delicious! the rice wasn't anything special. my husband's entree was an absolute showstopper! He ordered the whole snapper, which came on a HUGE platter filled with absolutely delicious snapper, perfectly cooked and seasoned in a flavorful red sauce along with mussels, shrimp, calamari, salad dressed with vinaigrette and with sides of that delicious green sauce. This could have easily been enough for 2-3 people and is a dish worthy for a special dinner. we couldn't believe how good it was. Everything else we've had has been delicious. The service might seem a little serious or standoffish initially but they're serious about providing great food and service and we left feeling like we we had made some friends and will definitely be back! read more

Since we arrived after dinner time, the ambiance was a bit quiet. We were one of the last tables there. To start, we ordered the Ceviche Mixto that came with three different sections and variations of ceviche. I had never tried ceviche before so I enjoyed the three different variations. The Empanada Sampler we ordered arrived with a side salad that we both enjoyed. The fillings in the empanadas were juicy and delicious. For mains, we ordered Aji de Gallina and Tallarin Saltado (not pictured). Both were delicious and arrived in huge portions. I was not able to finish. I love Peruvian food and was so excited to try Bocado for our team dinner while in San Francisco for a work trip. The inside is a bit modern with fun ocean themed decorations. The service was incredibly friendly from start to finish. Our server took great care of our large party and wasn't afraid to provide us with recommendations to steer our meal in the right direction. We had to get the ceviche sampler platter, of course. Peruvians know how to do ceviche better than anyone else. And every single ceviche was absolutely delicious. Nine of us walked in hungry and hopeful, and left full, happy, and maybe slightly more bonded than any spreadsheet could manage. The space is beautiful. Like, pause-before-you-sit-down beautiful. Warm colors, elegant details, and that just-right lighting that makes everyone look like they got a full night of sleep and remembered to wear moisturizer. We kicked things off with the ceviche trio, guacamole and chips, and the empanada sampler. The ceviche was fresh and bright and made you feel like you were on vacation for five minutes before someone said "Q3 projections." The guac was creamy with just the right zip, and the chips were warm and perfectly salty. The empanadas were flaky, golden, and filled with so much flavor we all stopped mid-conversation to go, "Wait, what's in this one?" For mains, we had a greatest hits situation. The lomo saltado was savory, comforting, and had that wonderful balance of steak and sauce and fries that makes you wonder why this isn't on every menu everywhere. The fajitas came out sizzling like they were doing a dramatic entrance, and they delivered. Bold flavor, perfect textures, and a side of "pass me the tortillas right now." The quesabirria was rich and cheesy in the best possible way, and the dipping consomé should honestly be sold by the jar. Service was quick, friendly, and impressively patient with our group full of mid-meal food trades and very enthusiastic reactions. In short: S.F. El Dorado is the kind of place that turns a work lunch into an event worth putting on your calendar.
