We were immediately seated and there were plenty of tables available, both inside and outside. It was such a relief after a long morning of walking around and waiting in lines! I ordered the penne portabello while my husband ordered the rigatoncini (without the smoked pancetta, as he is vegetarian). We also ordered a Sprite and a side of broccolini. While we both enjoyed the pastas, the broccolini was unfortunately unevenly salted and some pieces were way too tough to chew. However, we enjoyed our time here overall! One thing to note is that the service can be a little impersonal and slow. We finished our food but had to wait about 10-15 minutes for the check, and that was only after we flagged someone down ourselves. But it wasn't the biggest deal for us. Stopped by here after working an event at Moscone Center and it's right across the street from Yuerba Buena Gardens. Came here on a Thursday and it was really busy, but was able to be seated within 10 minutes. Didn't know what to expect, but the Happy Hour menu is great. We ordered spaghetti, Meats Balls & Margarita pizza and they were $10'each and good portion sized. Spaghetti was flavorful and delicious. Meatballs were juicy and flavorful as Well. MARGHERITA pizza was light and not greasy at all. Food was really good. The 3 stars was for the water served. I went to Delarosa for the first time because a friend was in town. Since there were five of us, we decided to get a whole bunch of items and share them family style. I ordered the Marco Polo cocktail, which was delightfully fruity and sweet. In terms of appetizers (Antipasti), we ordered the onion bread, the Meatballs, and the Broccolini. The onion bread was really tasty because it was fresh, hot, and hefty. It was kinda like a fluffy cross between pita bread and pizza crust. For the Meatball, I thought it, and its accompanying bread, was just okay. The Broccolini was fine. We also ordered the Penne Portobello pasta, which I thought was pretty good, though lacked a certain oomph. For pizzas, we ordered the Margherita and the Funghi. The former tasted a little simple and boring. The latter tasted great, though it is important to note that I absolutely love mushrooms. I was also happy to see that they didn't add an extra layer of parchment paper below the pizzas on the pizza pan because that helps reduce waste. For dessert, we got the Flourless Molten Chocolate Cake, the apple pie, and sorbet. The chocolate cake was okay while the sorbet tasted refreshing. The apple pie was really the dessert winner for me because the crust was a good complement to the filling. Eventually, both the cake and the pie were challenging to finish because of how sweet they were. Delarosa had a great atmosphere, and the food was pretty good (though not the best I've had). Solid backup plan, not a destination. We landed at Delacosa after bailing on a louder spot down the block, walked in before 5pm, and got seated right away at a comfortable window table. Friendly, attentive staff from the start. We split a few things. The Happy Hour margarita pizza was okay but forgettable. The beet salad was big enough for two, but the beets tasted canned, which is hard to ignore when beets are the whole point. The spaghetti and meatball had a nice kick and was the most enjoyable plate, but still landed at average. Draft beers were fine, not craft. The wine was okay. They run a full bar if that's your thing. The room itself is comfortable, casual dress, open kitchen, communal tables, a glassed-in patio out front. If you want to actually hear the person across from you, this isn't the quiet option. Logistics are the easy part. It's a short walk from BART, so transit is a non-issue. Parking nearby is the catch, there's basically none, so take BART if you can. No reservations needed; we walked in cold and never waited. Happy hour gets you the cheaper pizza and small plates, which is when the value makes the most sense. If you're near Union Square and just need a casual sit-down with a full bar and no wait, it works. I've been to Delarosa multiple times for both lunch and dinner. The drinks and food are always - from the boozy and NA drinks to the apps to the entrees and pizzas to the desserts (which I admittedly don't seem to order often enough since everything else is already so filling). Most times I've been able to come here without a reservation or with only a reasonable wait. That being said, this particular location is downtown and near Moscone Center, so it can get super busy and crowded after work or when there's a large event or conference happening nearby, so plan accordingly. I'll admit, all the years that I've seen Delarosa and have walked past it, I've never given it a single thought, let alone a second thought, and just assumed it was some mid chain that was gonna leave me disappointed if I gave it the time of day. I'm happy to say that I was wrong. We came here for a team lunch a couple of weeks ago and ordered nothing but pizzas. I requested the spicy soppressata and loved it. It wasn't really spicy but it was really flavorful and the salami was great. We also tried the Margherita, which, while pretty standard in terms of ingredients and technique, was also tasty. One of our teammates has a gluten allergy, so she asked for the hot honey with the gluten-free crust. And while there's simply no comparison between the fluffy crust of the regular pizzas, with just the right amount of crunch, the gluten-free version wasn't bad. I was more focused on the toppings and loved the hot honey combo, which would've been doubly good on normal crust. The gluten-free crust is pretty thin, dense, and crispier than the standard crust. These guys were really busy with additional business from the conference happening nearby, but they still managed to come around semi-frequently and refill drinks and take additional orders. Everyone was super nice, too, and the pizzas came out quickly after ordering. I'd really like to come back to try some of their pastas, given how good the pizzas were, but this isn't a "go out of your way to try it" place for me. We arrived on Saturday night after our friends were able to snag a table for 8 people. The table was outside which was perfect since the weather was really nice. There was a very large line at 6:50pm but 20 minutes earlier, there wasn't a line when our friends got there. I was super excited that they had gluten free pizza! I got the spicy Bartender pizza with the burrata and it was delicious. My son loved their Burrata Bruschetta so much, we ordered another one. The others raved about their Hot Honey pizza. I think we ended up with three of them as the night went on. They have an incredible kids pizza that's so big, it's good enough for two kids to share and costs only $13. Their menu prices are actually very reasonable. As tables cleared, a server was more accessible. He checked on us a few times and brought our drinks. We asked him about a birthday candle and which desserts were good. This last server was very personable and friendly while the manager wasn't very personable at all. He recommended two desserts so we rounded out the evening with the Tiramisu and two Flourless Chocolate Cakes, one with a birthday candle. I had high hopes for the ziti for pick-up, but it tasted like it came straight from the frozen aisle at the grocery store. I've eaten frozen pasta dishes before, and it tasted exactly like it from the texture to the flavor. Even the chicken strongly resembled a frozen chicken parm dish I had. But those frozen meals are $3, and this one goes for $21. The interior was nice and clean though; I liked how it was decorated and the furniture. I came here a while back but decided to stumble upon it again today for its girl dinner $25 for dirty martini, salad and fries deal. When we went up to the host, he asked us if we wanted to sit at the bar or the table behind him and we asked him to clarify where the table was and he completely ignored us. Honestly it was SO RUDE. We also were looking at the girl dinner meal in our hand and he took it straight from my hand and was going to put it back in the pile with the menus. My mom asked for a Bloody Mary, and instead of saying they didn't have the ingredients, he made a sarcastic comment about not being in Mexico. The front desk guy is just so rude. We came in after a conference with a laptop bag. The restuarant was mostly empty yet he refused to let us keep our bags near our table. this guy tells us to leave the bags at the entrance door which is unmonitored. I came with my friend to try Delarosa for the first time. I got a $20 credit business card from the January Yelp event at the Yelp office when I tried their burrata bruschetta appetizer there. I decided to come check it out since I'm watching a movie at Metreon. This restaurant is a little bit hidden in the alleyway across the street from Metreon. We ordered Prosciutto Di Parma pizza $24. They also charge 5% employees health care ordinance fee. It is a 12 inches pizza very thin crust with 6 slices. It's enough for 2 women though since I was full after 3 slices and didn't have room to try the happy hour menu. The other menu items look very interesting and would love to try the pasta, another pizza, or something from the happy hour menu next time. They had great service and it was a very nice environment for Sunday lunch. read more
