    Pepperoni pizza at the bar
    Rick G.

I visited Pie Punks solo on a Tuesday evening during the World Cup in late June. I didn't know it when I walked in, but the owners/folks working there were very much Mexico fans and they were excited for the match. I sat at the bar and ordered the arugula salad and a pepperoni pizza. Everything was delicious. I ate it all even though I could have sworn I wasn't that hungry when I walked in! The atmosphere was fun and the staff charming. Recommended for a good local spot.

Very exceptional! Everything delicious and I can't express enough how kind all the workers were and how they took good care of us. The vibes were great especially with the music and the world cup going.

When you find a restaurant called pie punks, of course it's a must to try it. The overall vibe the restaurant is super cool, and everyone that works there is really nice. The food on the other hand is mediocre at best. Pizza is no longer that go to quick inexpensive meal, but it should be good, if not amazing. This experience was none of that. The crust on the pizza was very rubbery and tasted like paste. The toppings were just as bad. The pizza sauce tasted like something that had been poured out of a can, and the toppings did not scream fresh and delicious. The combination of everything together was just not good. Add the price tag, and it's a hard no moving forward. It's not a place I plan on going back to, and there are so many better places in the San Francisco area that have much better Pizza! Three stars are because the staff is super friendly, and they really create the vibe.

Oh My God. That was one of the most delicious slices i've ever had. Maybe because it was crisp and crunchy. Or that it has the right amount of sauce. It has a lot of flavor for being very simple. It's my first time here and after my meal, I felt like I should've gotten more slices or maybe an entire pie. I would definitely recommend coming out to try this place for the atmosphere, staff and good pizza

Came here with a group of 6 and was seated immediately! Good: - Pizza was delicious, I liked the sausage grandma the best - the pizza tasted healthier than other pizzas I've had, not too oily - Great portion sizes! We had so much pizza leftover and it was good value Bad: - The place was a bit dim - Detroit pizza was smaller for the price Overall this was so much fun and loved the pizza it was quite tasty

Came here during happy hour (weekdays 4-6pm) for a small outing with coworkers. I had high expectations because it's quite popular with friends and i was not disappointed. it was very spacious and they were prepped with more seats because of downtown first thursdays. we ordered the broccolini's to start and they are definitely worth trying. good chrisp and just a little something healthy before you dig into some pizza. Our server recommended doing half pepperoni and half mauros molto meat on a grandmas style pizza. We liked the pepperoni but we really enjoyed the mauros molto meat we ended up ordering more of it. Overall, it's a very vibey spot with very value happy hour deals. i think it's a fantastic spot for a casual dinner with friends in the soma area!

This was some of the best pizza I've had in a while. Make sure to get the grandma style. I opted for the Fredo (white sauce) and a Classic (red sauce) both incredible! It's a smaller space, that's a bit dark and loud but a vibe. Seating can take some time, especially if there is a line but the staff are friendly and as helpful as they can be when busy. They have slice options as well as full pizza options. Happy hour from 4-6pm PST. Definitely worth checking out if in the area! Good prices too. Two slices filled me up. Each slice was ~$5 so makes for a decently cheap eat that also tastes really good.

Good late night spot for drinks and pizza. Super cute and intimate vibes as well. I ordered the fredo slice and it was good! It wasn't the most flavorful, but it hit the spot. Definitely would want to try the other slices and the detroit style.

Pizza with cardboard crust and hella grease

Guy at the end of the bar with baseball cap was rude. I ordered online and came in to get my food. He initially greeted me with a nasty tone. I grabbed my pizza from the counter and when I turned to leave he came from behind the bar to grab my pizza box and stop me. I pulled up my online order on my phone and showed him then he snatched my phone and scrolled down aggressively to my name. The ambiance of the restaurant was very dim, so much so that the server almost bumped into me. This restaurant needs to place more attention paying the light bill and training their employees on proper customer service.

Quite a few places serve Detroit style pan pizza in the Downtown San Francisco area, so had a few choices. Pie Punks was the closest one walkable from our hotel, with a really good online rating. Like a lot of really popular pizza joints, it's mainly a bar atmosphere with a bar menu centered on pizza. I found the finished pizza to have an incredible crust, but a bit small with stingy toppings and burnt cheese/oil to make parts of it unpleasant. Happy Hour runs between 4 and 6 pm everyday, with some dollars off for drinks and pies. We came early enough to have choice of tables, with the place being packed by the time we left. There is table service provided by the double duty bartenders, and they were admirably able to keep up even with a full house, not forgetting any requests made verbally. Happy hour usually means my wife and I will try a first-time drink. She got the Goldfinger cocktail ($14 minus $2 for HH), and it was very strong. It was the first time I've tried a cocktail with popping boba (in this case, lychee flavor), and it was a really good addition. There were two draft beers we hadn't tried, Ghost Town Lager and Pranqster Golden Ale ($9 minus $1 for HH), so got the latter. Forgot that Golden Ale is hoppy, so ended up finishing it by myself (my wife won't drink hoppy beer). As for the main event, it came out pretty fast (under 15 minutes) once we ordered it. It was a Pepperoni Detroit ($23 minus $3 for HH), and the crust was fluffy, not too thick and very crunchy on the outside. The edges of the cheese had been cooked well, but beyond crunchy caramelization to make the corners really burnt (I like the corners of a Detroit, but this was too burnt even for me). I think the 10x8 pizza could be finished by one really hungry person...and a good amount for two. There is a 2% surcharge for using credit cards, and payment can be handled at the table, using Toast. For once, we didn't have leftovers so were quickly on our way.

I ordered the vodka martini slice. It was good. The ratio of topping and sauce to dough is perfect. This is the perfect place to grab a slice and drink with a few friends. There is plenty of seating

Solid Detroit style pizza-- we ordered a slice of the sausage and it took 10 minutes to come out! The bartender was super nice and friendly. The flavors were there but the slice was missing that char / done-ness on the edges.

    Sara B.

Pizza by the slice, an extensive cocktail list and good music and vibes. What more could you want?! Stopped by Pie Punks during a work trip to SF and I was not disappointed. I kept things pretty simple with a grandma slice, but let it be known that they have a huge selection of slices / pies. You can go round and thin or deep dish square. They also have a solid happy hour deal and cocktails were a few bucks off which was nice. Service was speedy and friendly, and if you could've guessed by the name the music selection was fun. Cute spot for a bite and a drink if you find yourself in this part of town.

It comes with a real dumpling! * Mango Sago = I really liked this one - tastes exactly like mango with coconut and has a few mochi for fun. * Ube Cheesecake = yummy dessert cocktail that is fairly thick so commit (it's worth it) The food is really unique as well - I highly suggest the deviled egg sampler. The atmosphere is very lounge like with chill vibes. Service is great.

Lore's Wonderland escape room was a fun and delightfully whimsical experience. **This review is…read moremainly for the escape room, as we did not order any additional drinks outside of the escape room.** THE SPACE // Lore Speakeasy and Escape Room has cool themed decor everywhere, from the dimly-lit speakeasy/bar room in front, to the Middle Earth/Lord of the Rings-themed board game room, to the individual bathrooms, and of course the escape room's multiple Alice in Wonderland-themed rooms. Clearly a lot of effort went into building these rooms and evoking a certain vibe for each. THE ESCAPE ROOM // The puzzles in the escape room varied in difficulty - some required us to think a bit more, some required our observational skills to work harder, and others required a light level of physical skill/movement. We were perplexed a few times but never got stuck for too long, as the White Rabbit (played by Phoenix, the live actor/puzzle master) would jump in occasionally to provide clues over the speaker or in person. It took us about 1 hr 20 min to finish the entire escape room; I thought the pacing was good. THE [ESCAPE ROOM] DRINKS // Lore's escape room experience comes with "a flight of themed cocktails or mocktails, including "potion"-style drinks that are integrated into the experience as you progress", per the website. We got to choose one cocktail/mocktail option (Korean Cold Noodles) from a list on the website, and the other two drinks are pre-selected to supposedly fit into the Wonderland theme, with the flavors described online as "berry" and "peach". You can get both cocktail and mocktails for your party, in case some people want alcohol and others don't. We all enjoyed the flavor of the Korean Cold Noodles cocktail, which was refreshing and surprisingly a bit minty in the mocktail version. However, we didn't like the two other two pre-selected themed drinks as much. The "berry" drink gave us cherry cough syrup vibes, and the cocktail version of it was quite strong. The "peach" mocktail drink reminded me of canned fruit syrup; we also were missing the two cocktail versions, though we decided not to ask for them as the mocktail version already was less than impressive. One other missed expectation here was the size of the drinks that we received in the escape room. We were expecting full-sized cocktails, like what they serve in the speakeasy in front. Instead, we found out that the drinks are served in small "vials". Given the size of the drinks in the escape room, combined with us not even enjoying two out of the three drinks, I would preferred to go through the escape room without the drinks at all, and likely pay a bit less for the escape room then. OVERALL // I'd still recommend the escape room as a good one-time experience with a date/friends/family. Just don't expect too much from the included themed drinks! The speakeasy drinks on the main menu do sound unique/tasty, so I might come back again to try those sometime.

The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.
