Authentic Italian pizzeria with a curated list of only Italian wines. Thoughtful upcycling design that gives a bit of nostalgia into the past, like the sewing machine table we sat at. It gets busy around 6:30 pm. We had reservations for 5:45 pm and our table was ready. Great staff as well with full knowledge of the menu and wines.

Tried out this place for the first time while meeting up with a group. Getting here was a breeze up until I got to Stevenson St., as a few Waymo cars were stalled at the light in front of me and made me twenty min late to dinner! It would be wise to avoid this route for this reason. Once you finally make it inside, the place is just lovely! The service is great and the food is spectacular! We were waited on by the beautiful Susanna and she brought out our food in a prompt and timely manner. I got the blood orange sparkling and it was very thirst-quenching. As a vegetarian, I also got the torpignattara pinsa, which had mashed potatoes, basil pesto, roasted almonds, and cheese. I think my favorite part was the crust, so good! They make it in a brick oven, so it's just perfect. The portion was pretty huge for an individual size and two people can easily share if you're not too hungry. I also really loved the hot chili oil with my pinsa. I bought a bottle to take home :) Highly recommend if you're in the mood for cozy Roman-style cuisine.

If you're looking for that truly authentic Italian feel and food. Look no further than Montessori SOMA. The menu was crafted into an experience, the service impeccable, the feel felt as if I had traveled back to Italy with a true European restaurant decor. Don't miss out on this gem.

I was impressed with the quality of ingredients, flavor combinations, and taste of the crust! We enjoyed both a sausage broccolini pizza (5/5 stars, I especially enjoyed the cold cheese) and a red sauce pizza with spicy sausage (5/5 stars for my partner, just 4.5/5 stars for myself). The decor is somewhere between industrial and steampunk (not my favorite but not a problem for me) and service was fast and accommodating - they let us order when we sat and food came out quickly at 6:15pm on a weeknight. We'll be back when we're in the neighborhood again!

Montesacro provided a unique and memorable ambience that was also reflected in the food. The vintage decor was delightful, and enhanced the food. I ordered a Pinsa (Roman style pizza), Grottaferrata, which was clearly marked as vegan! Huge props to Montesacro for clearly marking vegan options as an upscale Italian restaurant! I should preface by saying don't come in here expecting your run of the mill pizza, the Pinsas are oval shaped, and you cut your own slices. Additionally, there was no vegan cheese, it seems that the Pinsa is naturally dairy free and the main flavor profile is from the Calabrian Chili (this spice was actually no joke, you've been warned!) and Cremini mushrooms. Overall I would recommend this spot for a specific subset of folks who would enjoy an elevated and unique Italian food experience. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable around vegan options, and they have a single private bathroom in the back center of the restaurant that was quite clean and also well decorated.

Middle of the city, is a hidden oasis of beautiful Roman style pinsa (pizza) crispy and crunchy crust rectangular. Enter the doors and immediately you transported too a restaurant in Rome. Music fills the well decorated dim lit restaurant Friendly pizza maker and good server

Wow! My first time trying roman Pinsa, and its just wonderful! This place honestly beat some of the pizza i tried in Italy, so you know they know whats up!!! Hands down the freshest tomato sauce i have ever tried. The quadraro was so good! All the topping melt together to make this wonderful harmonious bite. The fennel pannacotta was amazing! Just the right amount of fennel and sweetness. Very cute ambiance as well, what a hidden gem!

Oh my. This is probably some of the best pizza that I've ever had. Truly. Stopped by Montesacro SOMA while in the city on the recommendation of a colleague. The walk there was interesting, but once we arrived, I knew I'd love the place even before trying the food. We ordered a few appetizers and a few pizzas. It was all brought out in a state of perfection. Seriously, I cannot recall having pizza better than this. The staff were very friendly and were kind enough to give us some good recommendations. The place has the old time Italian feel to it. This is truly a gem!

After a matinee at the Orpheum, our party of 8 started early dinner at Montesacro. We were greeted with warm smiles by staff. We ordered a few appetizers and pinsas. My favorite was the burrata and meatballs The pinsa crusts were perfect for me. I like a lttle burnt side. The place is cozy and with a lot of personality. Really cute. The area not so much. I didn't see any parking nearby.

Stopped in on a Saturday evening before going to a show at the warfield. I knew it might be hard at 6pm on a Saturday to eat somewhere good without a reservation, but we thought we'd test it out. We waited a few minutes but then they were able to seat us at the bar. The environment is cozy and rustic, and the service was friendly. My partner and I each got a glass of wine which were excellent--I got a Pet Nat and my partner got a Pinot Grigio. We weren't sure of portion sizes so we got an appetizer and a pinsa to share between us, but it was a little too much food (we were heading to a performance so we did not want leftovers). The food was fresh and flavorful and felt well-made. Our cauliflower dish had really great toppings, but the cauliflower itself kind of bland. The dish was supposed to be warm, but it landed at our table kind of room temp-cold. We didn't mind too much, but wished the cauliflower itself had been a little better. Our topignatarra pinsa had a wonderful crunchy crust that we loved, the cheese was gooey, the pesto was herby, and it would have been absolutely perfect if there had been more salt on it. I feel a little ridiculous saying that because usually I'm complaining about food being too salty, but this definitely needed some. We added some of the topping from the cauliflower dish to give it a little something extra. I loved everything else about the dish and would absolutely come back to try some of their other options!

OMG!!! I just had the MOST incredible meal here. Its so cute and very authentic inside. We had reservations here before our show at the Golden Gate Theater. We ordered a salad and pizza to share. The salad was a shaved Brussel sprouts and kale with pumpkin seeds and lots of fresh Parmigian cheese. This was the best salad I've had. Now on to the pinsa. It had mozzarella cheese, broccolini, spicy chicken sausage, and lots of fresh creamy stracciatella. And damn it was good. It has Tony's beat in my book. I could have eaten it all by myself. We ended the dinner with a yummy pinsa pistachio spread dessert. And it was warm and absolutely delicious. Again I could have eaten it all by myself. We also got some espresso to wash it down with. It was by far the MOST incredible meal I had. Its my new favorite Italian restaurant. I will definitely be back.

Do they still have an upstairs deck? with heat?

Good morning Joseph! unfortunately we do not but our sister restaurant, 54 Mint, only a block away, does have a comfortable outdoor space that has heaters. We hope to see you soon!

Are there heaters near outdoor tables?

Upstairs, some of the tables have heaters. The patio seating outside their restaurant does not have heaters.

We just ate there, food was great! Also had the coffee, which was amazing. What coffee brand do you brew and what blend?

Another great feature of this place is that you can buy most of the plants because they have some for sale so after a couple of cocktails, I was ready to redecorate my whole house with all the plants.
