My partner and I decided to go to the city one weekend and decided we wanted brunch. After looking through some place, we came across Sisterita and it looked very promising. It seems like this place is an asian fusion brunch place incorporating french dishes into thai/asian themed dishes which is up our alley. We made a reservation at 1:45 PM and we had to wait for about an extra 30 minutes before getting seated. Initially, I wanted to try their crab fried rice but unfortunately they were out of crab. We decided to get the Alcatraz Escape and the Brioche french toast which were recommended by the wait staff. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating but I can tell they were swamped and stressed out with all the people they were trying to serve. The food itself tasted decent, the Alcatraz Escape had a tasty flavor which incorporates tom yum paste (sweet, sour, tangy flavor) into their scramble with about 4 shrimps. The side of crispy chicken was good but nothing that stood out to us. The brioche was soft but there wasn't much flavoring besides the fruits and caramelized banana. It was served with evaporated milk which made the brioche soft but not adding much flavor to it. The price however was quite pricey. What we ordered: Glazed & Blazed - Eggs Benedicts with a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and tangy. The potatoes were also crisped to perfection. Waffle & Fried Chicken - the menu isn't lying when it says "sweet Belgian waffle" because it is definitely on the sweeter side! The fried chicken thigh was golden crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I could had done without the strawberries because it added more to the sweet factor along with the maple syrup. The spicy Mayo for the chicken was a nice factor that balanced the dish out a bit. Voilà French Toast Brioche - definitely a dish to share. It is thick and filling. The citrus butter balanced out all the sweetness. Drinks were sake based and just okay. Also more on the sweeter side. My son was married at City Hall and they wanted to have brunch at Sisterita! There were so many great things on the menu. It was hard to choose. All the food came out looking and tasting delicious. We were stuffed and loved all of our dishes! We had a large group and I sent an email to book the table ahead of time and they were very accommodating ! We brought sparkling wine and a cake, and although they charge for both, they were amazing in serving all of it. The space is cozy and decorated like you might see in someone's home . Everything tasted delicious, with my only complaint being that the drinks came out lukewarm instead of piping hot. - London fog: super foamy and perfectly lightly sweet - Vanilla latte: super smooth and so good - Crab fried rice: amazing. delicious egg fried rice topped with generous crab. - Viola French toast brioche: the star of the show. This will forever redefine how I think of French toast. A thick, circular slice of brioche that's super crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside- tasting like it was fried in browned, salted butter. The restaurant is super cramped, and some tables are pretty small, but we were lucky to get a pretty big table for three of us. To drink, we got earl grey with a side of soy milk. The earl grey was a great way to start our meals, but $7 seemed a bit steep considering it was a tea bag and not loose leaf tea. For breakfast, we got the King of the West Coast plate, two egg white omelettes and the spicy honey glazed bacon. I would've never thought to pair shrimp with an omelette, but it was surprisingly really good pairing, but overall a but lackluster, and felt like it was missing something. The house made sourdough was really good! My boyfriend really liked the King of the West Coast, but it didn't blow my mind at all. The bacon was pretty good, but definitely leaned more sweet than spicy. It took about 30 minutes to get our food, and our food came out warm as if it had been sitting for a while.
