Moo Sawan Benedict
Ashley R.

Lovely Thai brunch spot in Hayes Valley. Went on a Saturday morning with a friend - made reservations about a week in advance but it wasn't terribly busy when getting there. The vibes are very cute and give off that instagram feel. If it's a nice day out, it would be fun to get dolled up and take pictures in the interior. The menu is extensive, but I always gravitate towards eggs benedict for brunch. I got the moo sawan eggs benedict and it was great! The brussels sprouts are a fun addition to the meal. Very flavorful and the portion is pretty big. I actually had leftovers! Definitely worth the price. Overall, I would recommend this place for both good food and good vibes.

"Chef's Fav" Moo Sawan Benedict: House bacon, brussels sprouts, pickled red onions, spicy cilantro lime hollandaise, crispy potatoes ($25)

3.5 STARS Bottomless mimosas and vibes. For someone that can't day drink anymore, it sounds like a recipe for disaster. BUT, at least no one will bat an eye when you're stumbling outside, fall into a bush, or bent over. Cuz, it's the city! Can't do that in the burbs without the popos rolling up. Peacock Pansy is one of the few places in the city that offers rezzies for weekend brunch (didn't seem like we needed one tho). They're also dog-friendly (inside and out) which made it an easy choice. Also, street parking was easy on Saturday morning. The menu has something for everyone - American brunch classics with a SE AZN twist, salads, wraps, sandwiches, and more. And, bottomless mimosas for the lushes. F O O D * Chef's Favorite - Moo Sawan Benedict: Housemade Bacon w/ brussels sprouts, pickled red onions, spicy cilantro lime hollandaise ($25) IMO, a brunch spot that nails their eggs is an automatic 4 stars. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, oozing liquid gold. And, the accompanying crispy potatoes were shatteringly crunchy with a soft interior. The rest of the dish fell short. The moo sawan is their take on millionaire's bacon. It was sweet and one note, missing the aromatic spices (garlic, coriander, white/back pepper, etc) and the hollandaise + pickled onions had no spice or tang to bring everything together. On the plus side, they use a thiccc, sourdough english muffin that held up well to the dish. * Good Morning America w/ scrambled eggs, bacon, crispy potatoes, toast ($20) - Add spicy cajun pork sausage ($6) Your basic American breakfast. I didn't taste it but my friend said, it was bland. I noticed the bacon slices were very thin. S E R V I C E Service was pretty minimal, we had to flag someone down to place our order and again to get the bill. That said, the woman who took our order was very sweet and welcoming. Unfortunately, another staff member had an attitude when checking us in and mean mugging through the meal. They weren't busy at the time so food came out fast. A M B I A N C E Designed for IG and TT, the space is full of trendy touches: flower walls and ceiling, vibrant peacock feather mural, and gorgeous butterfly motif. Inside, there's about a dozen tables (close together) and bar seating with a large TV. Several outdoor tables with umbrellas. Overall, the flavors at Peacock Pansy didn't hit for me but I get why people like it. The dishes look great and the aesthetic is super photogenic which feels like half the appeal. 3.5 stars rounded up for the efficient food service and being dog-friendly.

Would give this place 3.5 stars if I could! This place is aesthetically stunning!!!! The interior, the drinks, the presentation of everything is beautiful!! And with that brunch lighting??? Amazing. I got the shrimp & cauliflower puree, which I thought was delicious until I realized I wanted to eat a carb to balance the puree out (that I didn't have). Wasn't able to finish because the dish just felt a bit heavy. My group made reservations for 1pm and it took way too long to get seated.. I got my food at 2pm so I assume we had to wait about 30 minutes extra just to be seated. We talked to a few other groups that were also waiting a long time to be seated and were pretty frustrated. I'd dock off a whole star just for this reason unfortunately. :(

Service was great and welcoming with a chill vibe at Peacock Pansy. Food was more than excellent and the fried chicken and berry pancakes were the standouts. Coffees were tasty and hot. Hot coco a bit lukewarm. It's okay. Can one hundred percent recommend.

Ube French Toast

The food reminded me of pixie hollow in the best way. It was more on the pricey side but the portions were huge and super tasty! I got the salmon sandwich with crispy potatoes, and it was SO crispy it was amazing. The sandwich itself was super great! The inside of the place is covered in flowers and makes such a cute brunch date. The service was fast and clean!

Cajun Shrimp & Cauliflower Puree ($27)

Such a cute brunch stuff in Hayes Valley! Love all the flower decorations and it was nice to have a reservation here to get seated easily. For a drink, I thought I had ordered a Thai tea latte, but I'm convinced it was actually an iced Thai tea ($7) because of how sweet it was. It was a good, standard Thai iced tea if that was the case. My friend and I tried the fried chicken and croffle ($25), which was delicious. I loved the bulgogi sauce and honey on the fried chicken, but it did feel separate from the croffle which had a sunny side egg on top. I wish it had been a bit more of a cohesive dish. The Cajun shrimp and cauliflower puree ($27) was pretty cheesy and had really good sausage in it, but I feel like it was lacking flavor because cauliflower is blander. Overall, the dishes were unique for brunch and I would definitely come back again.

Such a cute place!! An amazing brunch spot! The vibes are there--lots of seating, aesthetic decor but not too gaudy, and lots of natural lighting. Staff are nice, slight wait for service throughout meal, it does get a bit busy. - Butterfly pea lattes: 10/10 so good and who doesn't love a blue bev? - Ube french toast: 10/10 so good!!! Not overly sweet. The ube paste was flavorful and tasted natural/authentic. The texture of the paste and the french toast were perfect - Honey sriracha wrap: 7/10 slightly disappointed. Didn't have sriracha taste at all but wasn't too sweet. Coleslaw was good, sauce was good. Fries were good and crispy! - Triple cheese monte cristo: 10/10, the fruits on the side were chefs kiss. The jam perfectly complemented the sandwich. The potatoes were DIVINE!! They were like, double coated and fried?? One of the crispiest potatoes I've ever had. Wow!

This is the perfect place for a girly brunch. The walls and ceiling are covered with (artificial) flowers. They have various specialty cocktails, mimosas, and sparkling wines. They also have a diverse menu of brunch items, including breakfast burritos, pancakes, egg dishes, ube dishes, Moroccan dishes, banh mi sandwiches, and more. What we got: + Fried chicken and croffle (5/5) - a croffle is a croissant waffle. It has a chewy texture and crisp edges. It was very good. The fried chicken was tender and juicy inside and very crispy outside. This sits on a bed of arugula and fruit on the side. You also get an egg any style. + Moroccan stew (4/5) - this was on their Specials menu so we thought we'd try it. It's a vegetarian dish with chick peas and tomatoes and poached egg. The stew was more like a soup, and the accompanying pita bread wasn't adequate for soaking up the stew. Perhaps rice would have been better. + Pumpkin spiced coffee - delicious Some reviews indicate they don't pay attention to reservations, but that wasn't our experience. I made reservations through Yelp, and we were seated immediately. The staff was friendly and checked on us often. Overall, a really cute brunch place that serves delicious food.

Spicy Tom Yum Crab Omelette
Melissa L.

I was drawn in by the fusion brunch options and got the tom yum crab omelette. absolutely delicious and there was a generous portion of crab meat. also a generous portion of sweet potato fries! Tom Yum sauce was super yummy as well though not very spicy to me. wish there was something like this in the South Bay T^T excellent service and gorgeous atmosphere made for a lovely brunch!

Becky V.

Pretty and lots of florals inside! Nice quiet brunch place for a girls outing. I went around 10am and it was quiet, not sure about lunch hours. $31 Crab omelette came with a great special tom yum sauce on the side. You can add how much you want that way. Come with wheat bread and choice of potato: fried, fries, or sweet potato fries. Kinda pricy but I did get a crab item and there was good amount of meat in the egg. Service was kind and welcoming!

I made a reservation weeks in advance for a birthday brunch for 16 people on a Saturday, and it honestly didn't feel like the reservation mattered at all. We ended up waiting about 45 minutes for our table. At one point, the waiter asked us to go ask the previous party to leave, which was super unprofessional. They were done eating and had paid but were just hanging around. We watched multiple smaller walk-in groups get seated really quickly while we waited for our table . My friends also brought a birthday cake so we could cut it, and the servers forgot to bring it out at the end when they asked for dessert. The food was decent and I did like the tom yum omelette, but overall I probably wouldn't go again especially with a large group. If reservations aren't going to be honored, there's really no point in offering them.

This asian fusion brunch place is absolutely stunning! Things i highly recommend: - Crab omelette. The tom yum sauce elevates the dish really well - Ube french toast. Great to share with your friends as a sweet dish. - Butterfly pea latte. Such a unique floral drink!

Chicken Croffle & Curry
Elaine Y.

I've had Peacock Pansy bookmarked for a while and finally got to try it and it was pretty good! We had made a reservation but like many others commented, Peacock Pansy isn't really managing them appropriately. We were still sat within a reasonable window of time within our reservation but it had a chance of getting a little hairy honestly speaking. Looking over the menu, the Asian flair was evident and I loved it! But! Those prices....some of it is on the high side. Yes, it's Hayes Valley but entrees in the $30s? It's a bit much. We tried to stay on the cheaper side. I went with the curry chicken croffle at $23 and it was SOLID. Easily the best dish at the table! Everyone was taking swipes of the curry for their own dishes. The regular croffle and chicken was also pretty good according to dad but he felt the chicken was overfried and dry. Mom had the truffle mushroom scramble and remarked that she really liked the baby shiitake but really could have done without the chunky button mushrooms. My brother went with the ube French toast but it was very coconut forward. Overall food was good, but not great. Would I come again? Maybe. I think there are other Asian brunch spots that hit a bit more across the board, if I'm honest. 4 dishes, drinks, and tip came to $150.

When we called to ask about a…read morewait, they mentioned there was not wait... part of the reason they do that is because they don't keep a list. You either have reservations or you're a walk in and you stand in line until a table is available for you. At first this was strange, but I think it makes for a better experience. The team was incredible, they were so kind on a day that can be stressful for a small restaurant. We had incredible food. I was so happy to get my Eggs Royale and my husband said the French toast was the best he's ever had. (Even comparing it to French toast in Paris) No notes. This will be our Mother's Day place going forward next time with reservations.

It seems like this place is an asian fusion brunch place incorporating french dishes into thai/asian themed dishes which is up our alley. We made a reservation at 1:45 PM and we had to wait for about an extra 30 minutes before getting seated. Initially, I wanted to try their crab fried rice but unfortunately they were out of crab. We decided to get the Alcatraz Escape and the Brioche french toast which were recommended by the wait staff. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating but I can tell they were swamped and stressed out with all the people they were trying to serve. The food itself tasted decent, the Alcatraz Escape had a tasty flavor which incorporates tom yum paste (sweet, sour, tangy flavor) into their scramble with about 4 shrimps. The side of crispy chicken was good but nothing that stood out to us. The brioche was soft but there wasn't much flavoring besides the fruits and caramelized banana. It was served with evaporated milk which made the brioche soft but not adding much flavor to it. The price however was quite pricey. For two dishes as a side we paid around $78 with tax and tip.

I still love Brenda's!!!!!!!…read more I haven't been back in a few years, but I am happy to report: they are still just as great! It was my daughter's first time and she loved it just as much as I did. We came during restaurant week so we decided to get the Creole Sampler so she could try a bunch of different items. (Sampler included red beans and rice, collard greens, fried catfish, hush puppies, plain beignet and gumbo). We also ordered the beignet flight and shrimp and grits. Plenty of food for the 2 of us, plus we had left overs. I can't not order the shrimp and grits. It's just so damn good! It's so rich and flavorful! It came out SUPER hot. Grits and cheese still bubbling. My daughter and I were both surprised she liked the collard greens. She's usually not a fan. She also liked the red beans and rice and she doesn't usually like beans either. That just goes to show how amazing the food is here! We came in around 4something pm on a rainy Sunday. There weren't many people there, but by the time we left it was more than half full. Service was friendly, and there was a band playing, which was a nice touch.

Let me start with the star of the show - the Shrimp & Grits. The flavors blended so well I did a little dance in my seat. Creamy, savory and delicious! I will be dreaming about the Shrimp and Grits from now on. The Bananas Foster French Toast melted in my mouth. So yummy. I wasn't a fan of the Crawfish Beignets. It was something about the flavor of the red powder/ seasoning that left me underwhelmed. All in all, one of my favorite stops while I was in town.
