TUR was amazing! We came as a group of six to celebrate a friend's birthday and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. What really stood out was how flavorful everything was. The dishes weren't just seasoned well--they had different layers of flavor, with each ingredient adding something to the overall dish. We tried several different items, including the Jook, fried chicken, a rice dish with beautifully cooked meat, and other brunch dishes. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Even when the ingredients sounded fairly simple, the combination of flavors and textures made the dishes interesting and memorable. The Jook was especially comforting and flavorful, and the fried chicken was crispy on the outside while still tender inside. The rice dish was another favorite--the rice itself had so much flavor and paired perfectly with the meat. Everyone at our table ordered something different, and there really wasn't a disappointing dish. We also loved the presentation and the little details, right down to the adorable turtle salt-and-pepper holder on the table. Such a cute touch! Definitely a place I would come back to. Tur is a welcome new breakfast and brunch destination in West Portal from the team behind Khao Tiew, which just happens to be conveniently located just a block away. The space brings a fresh, inviting energy to the neighborhood, with lovely décor, a relaxed vibe, and a ton of natural light pouring in through the large front-window façade. The adorable sea turtle salt and pepper shakers add such a playful and charming touch to each table. The menu takes a broad pan-Asian approach and is heavily geared toward breakfast and brunch. While the range of dishes can feel a little eclectic rather than tightly focused, the food we tried was delicious and memorable. My companion and I ordered The Duck and the Khao's Tur with char siu, and both were very satisfying. The Duck featured tender sous vide duck slices paired with fragrant garlic rice that was packed with savory garlic flavor. A fluffy scrambled egg sat atop the rice, adding a much needed airiness to the dish, while sliced chilis provided a welcome pop of heat and brightness to balance the overall heaviness. The Khao's Tur can only described as a fresh take on a loco moco, with its familiar dish construction of rice, protein, and a sunny-side-up egg all covered in gravy. But the char siu and pickled cabbage elevate it beyond that familiar format, adding sweetness, tang, richness, and texture. The real superstar, though, is the tableside verde hot sauce. You can put that on just about anything, and it adds a bright, flavorful kick that ties the dishes together beautifully. Prices are on the higher side, but the portions are generous enough that we both went home with leftovers. One small nit that should probably be addressed is that the menu misspells Culture Coffee as "Culter Coffee," which is an easy fix and would make the presentation feel a bit more polished. read more

My friends and I were so impressed with Khao Tieu that when we saw they had a sister brunch restaurant called Tur, we had to go - and it did not disappoint. Tur is a Thai fusion brunch restaurant with super delicious and fun/interesting flavors that make it worth a go. We got there Sunday around 10am and were seated right away. Interior is huge and beautiful. They have an ocean theme going on. Drinks: - Thai tea: loved the salted coconut cream on top - added a different flavor/dimension to the Thai tea - iced pandan latte: we asked for this to be less sweet, but it didn't end up tasting like pandan much so just be careful if you want the pandan flavor! Otherwise, a solid iced latte Food: - mango sticky rice French toast: must order. Done so well. Super delicious - pandan coconut banana pancakes: also loved, especially with the pancake texture and flavor. But could have done without if just wanting 1 sweet dish - khao tur: must order. Exploding with flavor. Soooo good and addicting. - shrimp and waffle: quite interesting, never really seen done before and was delicious, but would not necessary put on the must order category. Came to Tur last week with our friends along with our daughter on a Sunday morning. No wait = winning! Parking was not bad either since meters were free and there was a parking lot behind the building. Just a heads up, the parking lot behind the restaurant What my husband and I ordered: Kai Moo with side of fruits: My daughter and I shared this together and honestly I was not very impressed by it. The food felt a bit cold/room temperature. The scrambled eggs was soft and the char siu was flavorful but I was disappointed how fast the food got cold by the time it got to our table. Also ordered a side of fruits for my daughter and she devoured it! The Duck: My husband ordered this one and he did enjoy it. I did have a chance to take could have bites of his. The garlic fried rice was pretty tasty. I would give this place a 3.5 if I could but I rounded up to 4. Service was great but for the price of food and how the food became very cold/room temperature was disappointing. Maybe it was just that day only? Maybe I'll give it a try again one day. read more

Got the mango sticky rice French toast, softie Benedict, honey walnut shrimp and waffle, kai moo, and hed jook (shimeji mushroom jook)! the mango sticky rice and honey walnut shrimp were my favorites and a must order! the food is great, which is to be expected from the famous Khao tiew owner's reputation the interior has a fun coastal vibe and I love the way they plate their dishes from the presentation to the actual plates themselves. the space also has great natural lighting and was very open. the service was also so fast -- we got our food so quickly after ordering! I would highly recommend getting a reservation (but it doesn't look like they offer any on the weekends). still, I would recommend coming a little before or after the noon rush since they dont seat you until your entire party is there. also tried their still not a matcha which was very well balanced! would totally recommend and would definitely come back! read more

Having visited Khao Tiew three times and thoroughly loving each experience, I was eager to try Tur after seeing them on Instagram. We arrived around 9:30 AM on a Saturday, just as the team was setting up the iPad for the waitlist. Fortunately, we were seated in about 20 minutes--a much lighter wait compared to the notoriously long lines at Khao Tiew. FOOD & DRINKS: The menu offers a generous selection of both food and beverages. We opted for the Honeycomb French Toast and the Kai Moo, paired with the Es Yen Wanna and Cha Cha Coco to drink. The Es Yen Wanna fell a bit flat for me; it didn't feel particularly distinct, and the portion size was noticeably smaller than the other beverages. On the other hand, the Cha Cha Coco was delightful, featuring vibrant, well-balanced notes of pandan. The food, however, was the absolute highlight--both the toast and the open-faced sandwich were genuinely addictive. The Honeycomb French Toast achieved that perfect contrast of a golden, crunchy exterior with a soft, pillowy center, beautifully complemented by the sweet rice and toasted coconut flakes. The Kai Moo was equally impressive, packed with rich flavor and featuring remarkably tender, melt-in-your-mouth pork chashu. SERVICE: Service at the start was unfortunately a bit underwhelming. It took nearly 15 minutes for someone to take our order, and we noticed a few tables seated after us had their orders taken first. Great new brunch spot on West Portal! Tur is the newest Asian Fusion brunch restaurant on West Portal that took over the spot of the former Squat and Gobble. Like most picturesque brunch spots in SF, be prepared to wait. I came on a Sunday morning and there were about 13 people ahead of me on the waitlist and the wait was about 35 to 45 minutes. We were seated upstairs, where they crammed three of us at a two person table. Here's a breakdown of what we ordered - The Duck ($28) - tender, juicy, and flavorful. 10 out of 10. The garlic fried rice it came with was also delicious. Softie Benedict ($28) - crispy soft shell crab with poached eggs and housemade scone. I really liked the soft shell crab. The eggs and scone were good. Karaage & Waffle ($24) - the Japanese-style fried chicken and housemade waffles were both good. Mango Sticky Rice Brown Sugar Butter Toast ($22) - this dessert was just okay. The mango pieces were not ripe or sweet. The sticky rice was a bit hard. The brown sugar butter toast was good. All of the food came out with beautiful presentation. The flavors were good and we were stuffed! I would like to try different menu items in the future, but would 100% order the Ducks again. Owners of Khao Tiew plus brunch? Count me in! My partner and I basically raced to try this place since we love Khao Tiew (one of their first diners not to brag haha!). Similar to my other reviews, we eat faster than the lens does so I only got to snap a pic of my partners jook which was amazing! Pla jook 10/10 : Has fish and chinese pickles. The fish had an interesting crispy or crunchiness to it and provided amazing texture in the jook! It looks amazing and honestly tastes even better! The portion was huge and my partner was very satisfied after the meal. Khao's tur w/ wagyu patty 9/10: Beef for brunch is usually not my go to but it was pretty good! I do not like pork so Im sure the five spiced char siu would have been tastier, but the dish was so good! So well balanced and there were so many components. I cleared the whole bowl so fast I didn't even think about taking a picture. Still not a matcha latte 8/10: a clear pandan drink with salted coconut cloud. Super refreshing! Though I would try a different drink next time since they have so many other interesting options! Pandan latte 10/10: Not too sweet and my partner loves pandan so it was a match made in heaven. The space was HUGE. It was clearly beach themed and it was very cool to look around and see all the decorations they had. The service was amazing. There was a customer who was very clearly sick and was coughing into his hands, sleeves that we were seated next to. We were quite uncomfortable since we are quite adamant on staying home when you're sick. The servers quickly moved us and we apologized for the inconvenience, but they had no problem and kept reassuring us it was no problem. We were very grateful! Bad vibe. We asked for recommendation since it was our first time and was told everything is good and that was it. This spot is a great spot for Thai food, specifically brunch! Service was friendly, I was seated very quickly, and everyone seemed nice, quick, and on top of things. It was busy and had moderate noise. Not too much for it to be an issue with my personal conversation though. The food was very flavorful and I quite enjoyed the main dishes. The Khao's TUR was very tasty! I got it with the five-spice pork belly char siu and it was delicious! The Classic Jook was also pleasant, though I think I would try a different protein/meat option for this in the future. I think the mango coconut brown sugar butter toast was my least favorite of the three food dishes my friend and I ordered. I felt the toast overpowered any taste from the mango or sticky rice, and honestly I think it could have done with more rice and mango. It was okay, but I would not get this again. There wasn't too long of a wait when we came on a Sunday morning even though there was a waitlist. The tables are pretty close together though so there was definitely limited space to walk in/out. We tried the Classic Jook which ended up being our favorite because of how savory and hearty it was. They do put lots of ginger and scallion on it, so make sure to tell them ahead of time to separate if needed. The soft boiled egg on top was chefs kiss and added so much creaminess to the dish. Khao's Tur was on the salty side. There's a lot of rice to a smaller portion of meat and veggies. It's pretty good, but very carb heavy and filling. Tasted a little bit of what you can get in Chinatown or Clement for a fraction of the price. Lastly, we tried the Thai Banana Pancake which was pretty sweet. They have real coconut inside the pandan pancakes and the serving was huge. I would want to try the other jooks next time! I highly recommend trying this place out! read more

My friend and I shared The Duck as our main and it was delicious! The sous vide duck breast was very tender and flavorful, and the skin was a little crispy. The garlic fried rice was well balance, not too oily or garlicky. The orange sauce was more of a citrusy chili sauce which I really liked. We got the pumpkin salad to balance out the meal. The overall salad with truffle glaze was good but not remarkable. The pumpkin was a bit bland IMO. My friend tried a pandan latte drink that was really good. Made a reservation for my dad's birthday on a late Friday morning and they staff were super accommodating and sat our party in a timely manner. We started off with some drinks and coffee and everything was very tasty. I got the pandan latte. The pandan flavor could've been stronger but I still thoroughly enjoyed the drink. For starters, we ordered the citrus burrata yum and the Thai shrimp toast. I think both were passes for next time. The portion is very small and neither dish was anything special. You can find the brunch squad and the party people in SF are out and about getting last week's BTS ( Behind The Scene) recap highlights which didn't hit the social media circuit during an in person session of yap. There are the traditional buffet spots with the typical mimosas to be paired with egg plate like and omelette or an egg Benedict with a side dish of caviar bumps. Brunch is the first meal of the week to end the weekend with a big bang. There is a newer brunch spot which opened in 2026 which has a diverse menu of brunch plates. It's located at also former brunch spot called Squat and Gobble in West Portal and it's called Tur. On a West Portal stroll on Labor Day weekend the unofficial end of Summer and beginning of the unofficial start of Fall I landed at Tur. Inside still reminded of the former Squat and Gobble but with better decor and more modernized. I had the Honey Walnut Shrimp and Waffle shrimp cake, waffles, with Japanese caviar bumps (tobiko). It was savory and a bit sweet but tasty. Then got the Mango Coconut Brown Sugar Butter Toast which came with pieces of mango and purple rice. It was not too sweet and the toast was like pieces French toast. My favorite was The Duck which was garlic fried rice with egg and sliced duck breast which was juicy and tender. All the different flavors of the dishes meshed well and didn't need my palate to be refreshed. I did grab a drink called It's not Matcha which was a pandan creamy drink for Don Juan de la Matcha. The Thai and American breakfast mix made the dishes hella good at Tur. Echoing some of the other comments about service being extremely slow here, and in my case also inattentive. Visited at 12:20pm on a Saturday morning, got on the Yelp waitlist and took about 30 minutes to get seated. My friend ordered the Karaage & Waffle and Talay drink while I ordered the Pad Kra Pow Sandwich and Berry Shot drink. Surprisingly enjoyed the food because I haven't had luck with good Thai in the Bay Area (also tried Khao Tiew, their sister restaurant, and was not a fan). But the service made the visit a 2-3 star when it could have been higher. Multiple issues with service: I originally ordered the Pandan Latte with oat milk. My drink didn't come out for 15+ min and after I flagged someone down to check on my drink, the server proceeds to tell me they ran out of Pandan syrup and asked if I wanted to order something else. Why did no one tell me this until I had waited awhile and had to ask for an update? I then proceeded to order the Berry Shot with oat milk. Comes out much quicker but then after looking at my drink and taking a sip, I could tell this was whole milk. Flagged the server down again who forgot to tell me my original drink couldn't be made and asked her if my new drink was made with oat milk. She says yes. Comes back a couple minutes later and says then actually no, its whole milk. Takes it back to bring another one. My sandwich? Takes about 25-30 minutes to come out. Not sure why this took this long to come out. I understand they were busy, but the food at other tables after we sat down came out quicker, and my friends dish also came out much quicker than mine. I don't go out to brunch often, but was interested in the Thai fusion concept that this restaurant has. We arrived around 11:45 am on a weekday and there was already a small line out the door. There wasn't a waitlist available, but I was able to make a reservation on the spot via Yelp for 12:15 pm. It was a bit confusing because they weren't calling out names and were busy running around. I ended up walking in and let an employee know that we had a reservation. Afterwards, we were able to get seated pretty quickly for our party of 2. Salmon benedict (4/5): smoked salmon on a tasty slice of shokupan (?) toast, covered with plenty of hollandaise sauce, came with a nice side salad Soft shell crab sandwich (3.5/5): This sandwich was quite hearty and humongous. The sandwich slice was extremely thick in comparison to the fried soft shell crab in between. Flavor was good but I definitely tired of it after several bites. The sauce was plentiful, but lacked flavor. Puu jook (4/5): I was surprised to find an abundance of crab in this dish. The jook was nicely cooked and not too watery with plenty of crab to go around in each bite. We took the rest home to finish later. This spot gave nautical vibes and was nicely decorated. Fortunately hubby & I were able to be seated before the entire party arrived. We started with beverages- he with a scarlet squeeze and me with a cocoa crush, both nonalcoholic. Pro tip: only nonalcoholic beverages available. Pros: * hubby's karaage & waffle very substantial. The chicken karaage was perfectly coated and marinated. * my passion fruit mango sticky rice French toast was very spongy. Plated nicely. I suggest you have a savory side with it as it was very sweet. Hubby & I shared our dishes. * advanced reservation via Yelp. Cons: * unable to linger once the six of us finished as the staff wanted to free up our table. * savory dishes - (1) Kai Moo & (1) Khao Tur, friends said good but salty and (1) tonkatsu sandwich sizzling - good but very messy. He ate it with fork and knife. The restaurant layout was as before. Tables lined up against the wall. Street parking & a parking lot around the corner & Muni Metro. Finally checked out TUR in West Portal and had a really fun brunch experience. The menu puts a Thai twist on brunch, with a lot of creative dishes that you don't normally see at other spots. I ordered the Karaage Waffle and Khao TUR. The Karaage Waffle was definitely my favorite. The crispy Japanese-style fried chicken with a crispy waffle and sauce. The sweet and savory combination worked really well, and the chicken had a great crunch. The Khao TUR was also really interesting. It came with five-spice pork belly char siu, garlic fried rice, soft scrambled eggs, and orange sauce. The pork belly was rich and flavorful, while the fried rice and eggs made the dish feel really hearty. Overall, I liked how creative the menu was without being overly complicated. Portions were generous, everything came out looking great, and there are still a bunch of things on the menu I want to try next time. An amazing choice to get brunch. Tur is Khao Tiew's sister restaurant located in West Portal as well so you know we had to come here. We shared a small bite called Citrus Burrata Yum which consisted of Burrata cheese, seasonal citrus, toasted coconut, fresh mint, and Thai-style chili oil and fish sauce. You dipped it alongside with purple yam chips! It was so good. For drinks we got Not A Matcha which was house made pandan creamy iced milk drink, would recommend but wish it had more pandan cream! We got Khao's Tur which is a delectable dish with rice, kale, pickled cabbage & shallots, signature five-spice gravy, one sunny side up egg, and our protein choice of a Grilled Wagyu beef patty. No notes, all the flavors went so well together. Would get again. Our sweet choices were the Honey Comb French Toast and Passion Fruit & Mango Sticky Rice French Toast. Both were Shokupan French toast, the first had vanilla bean diplomat, candied honeycomb, pistachios, and pomegranate. The second had sweet sticky rice, coconut crumble, mango and passion fruit compote, and house-made coconut syrup. A sweet tooth's dream but also so perfect to share amongst everyone. I know it's been open for only a couple of months now, but even on a weekday at around 1PM, business was buzzing. Casually walking by, I had no idea anyone took over the former Squat & Gobble space. I decided to give it a try for lunch before boarding the downtown MUNI train. It didn't take long for me to get a table along the banquette wall. I was sitting between two tables. To my left were two women having French toast and pancakes and on my right was a South Asian family who appeared to have ordered all the savory plates on the menu. Food was oriented toward brunch with a wide variety offered from Thai-inspired to pan-Asian fusion dishes. Since they had a section devoted to jook, I took advantage and ordered the $22 Jook with Karaage (Photo 9). The generous size of the two-part dish was a pleasant surprise. The Jook arrived in a good size bowl, a Thai-style version thicker than a bowl you could find easily in Chinatown. Enhanced with their own hot sauce, it was topped with crispy vermicelli, green onions, julienned ginger, and a poached egg (Photo 7). The half dozen pieces of chicken karaage were juicy and crispy (Photo 8). Both components were tasty though they worked just as well as separate orders. They don't offer standard soft drinks, so I ordered the refreshing $6 Arnold Palmer to wet my whistle (Photo 10). I had presumed the three-letter name was short for turtle given the logo I saw on their sign, but it turns out to be a Thai word that means 'You' it's used informally as a term of endearment for a friend. Came here last Sunday at 10am and there was a 10 min wait..not bad. We got seated and looked around and i like the esthetic of the place..love the ceiling fans.. Lol. We ordered a few dishes to share. All the dishes were yummy with good portion size. The only complaint i had was some dishes came out luke warm (fried won ton, waffles), but other dishes nice and hot. Overall, i woukd come here again.. Nice service as well. read more

Yum! Came here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon & got on the waitlist for two. We waited about 30 mins outside, but we took a little stroll to check out some of the other shops down the street. We were seated & waited a few minutes until we waved down a server to place our order. Agree with some of the reviews about slow service. Our drinks took long to arrive & they didn't let us know they were out of Pandan until we waved down a server to ask if our drinks were still coming. My friend also asked for non-dairy milk & was given dairy milk in her drink. I really enjoyed my drink, I had the Talay which was butterfly pea tea. They have a great selection of drinks, I love that there are unique combinations I don't normally see. I ordered the Karaage & Waffles which were so delicious & flavor, I also appreciated that it arrived piping hot. I really liked the sauce, my friend said it was like an Asian Chic-fila sauce. My friend ordered the Pad Kra Pow Sandwich, which she really enjoyed as well. Both huge portions which is always a plus. We both agreed that we would come back again! Service is pretty slow, it seems like you have to get someone's attention most of the time. Food seems to also arrive as ready, so everyone will not receive their items at the same time. I went to Tur with a friend Saturday morning at 11am and waited 45 minutes to get seated. It was an additional 30 minutes for the food to arrive. I got the Curry Crab Sandwich and my friend got the shrimp toast waffle. The shrimp was bouncy crispy light and sweet. My curry sandwich was interestingly sweet and sour from the sauce and pickle. We've both never had anything like it. Definitely worth a visit to try some cool new foods. The ambiance near the windows was nice on a sunny day. However, I wish the paint was a different color because it seems a little dreary and florescent inside. read more

Visited Tur for brunch on a Saturday afternoon and there was quite a crowd outside of the restaurant. Thankfully, the queue went by pretty fast and we were seated about 20 minutes from queueing. My friend and I ordered the Babin and The Duck for sharing. The portions were decently sized for the two of us to share. The Babin had a very nostalgic taste, and reminded me of Indonesian street snacks I used to eat as a kid. The Duck had a wonderful balance of flavors. The duck was cooked perfectly, and paired really well with the rice and the fluffy egg. Based off of my own experiences here, I would rate Tur somewhere between 3.5 to 4 stars. This was actually my second time trying the food here and I am quite glad I gave them another try because the first time I went the experience was quite a bit underwhelming. I wanted to note that both times I went to Tur, the service after being seated is quite slow. They do get quite busy but it also does take them about 15 - 25 minutes to check up on you. To give a bit of a breakdown about the food, the first time I came here I tried their Pla Jook (fish congee) and Tonkatsu Jook (pork cutlet congee). More recently, I tried their more popular items, which are the Kai Moo (scrambled egg with pork chashu over toast), Karaage Jook (fried chicken congee), and Passionfruit & Mango Sticky Rice French Toast. So, Pla Jook is not something I would expect for foreigners to typically order. However, the reason why I wanted to try this dish is because I really enjoyed a similar but different dish called Khao Tom Pla (a rice soup with fish) when I visited Thailand. It is interesting that Tur uses grass fish for their Pla Jook. Steaming the fish gives it a bouncy almost cartilage like texture. Personally, I am more used to and much rather prefer fried grass fish, which gives the fish a more flaky and meatier texture. While steaming the fish is certainly healthier, I had a hard time finishing the dish. I would much have rather they steamed a flaky fish like snapper or fried the grass fish to offer texture contrast. I think it comes down to personal preference but I think I had expected more from the dish and was left underwhelmed with how it was prepared. The Tonkatsu Jook was better but the pork cutlet as a whole is a bit dry due to it being overcooked. It does help when you dip your cutlet in the congee to mask the dry texture. Moving onto their popular dishes, the Kai Moo is quite good. The scrambled eggs are light and fluffy and the slow cooked pork chashu is both fatty and juicy. The Karaage Jook is also more well cooked as they are smaller cuts of fried chicken. The Passionfruit & Mango Sticky Rice French Toast is quite tasty as well. I am personally not a huge fan of crust (again, personal preference) but the toast is overall quite fluffy and soft. It goes well with the sweet and ever so slightly tart passionfruit. I had wanted to wait before leaving an official review for Tur because my first impression of the food was quite poor. Overall, I think that if they make small improvements to their service and recipe, there will be a very visible difference. read more

There are so many creative dishes at Tur and while they are delicious, some of them can be a bit overpowering if it's the only dish you have. I enjoyed coming with friends so that I could try a bit of everything! The shokupan here is amazing, and after trying the katsu sando, thai shrimp toast, honeycomb French toast, and mango sticky rice French toast, I think my favorite shokupan dish was the mango sticky rice French toast - it was a bit sweet but still really good. The jook really hit, even though it's one of the more traditional dishes. I personally liked the karaage one since the meat comes on the side and the jook is clean/pure. Kai moo Pork belly was a bit too sweet and too fatty for my liking. Duck duck meat was a bit dry but the bread pudding on the side was amazing! read more

I will preface this review that I struggled between giving a 3 star or 4 star but I'll explain more. Got here around 10:00 AM and the space was fairly empty. I saw that they removed some seating from the front so the restaurant space inside feels more airy than when Squat & Gobble occupied the space. Ordered the Kai Moo and the Karaage & Waffle to share between two people. The server asked if we were okay with some fattiness in the pork belly and we said it was fine. Food came out fairly quickly after our order. The pork belly was definitely fatty and delicious - texture was great! Scrambled egg tasted luxurious, silky smooth. The waffle came out nice and crispy on the outside but chewy in the middle. The sauce in the Karaage & waffle -- I could bottle up that sauce. Chicken was cooked perfectly. So with everything said and done - why the 3 stars? The whole time I was there, I definitely felt rushed. They were fairly persistent in getting us to order and clearing our table. My friend and I were unable to sit longer after our meals were done as we were asked to leave so they could turn over the table. I understand the need for staff to turn over tables quickly (especially on a weekend) because it means more revenue and reduction of wait times at the door. I'm sure that's also a reason why my friend and I were able to be quickly seated after arrival. I do think if your policy is to limit the time someone is spent at your restaurant, you should have it written in large font at the entrance or give guests a heads up as you seat them at their table so your customers know what to expect. I think not know that would happen made me feel a little embarrassed and also ended my experience at the restaurant on a slightly negative note. Brought my friend to TuR for breakfast and the food was good. She liked it a lot but was hoping for some traditional breakfast and ordered a side of scrambled eggs that looked really good. She got the chicken kaarage and waffles. I tried the pork, slice of pork belly, egg over toast. It was delish and the portions are large, so we took our leftovers home. As the morning went on, the entire restaurant filled up. I tried the Pandan latte. Didn't care for it and it didn't have any special flavor to it. Excited to get a new brunch spot in the West Portal area! My uncle mentioned he liked this spot, so had to check out! We came on July 4th weekend, so it was definitely busy. We put our name down on the yelp kiosk around 10AM and our wait was 35 mins. The hostess was strict if you full party wasn't there, you wouldn't be seated, which is fair. We ordered: - Pad Krapow Sandwich: Comes with spicy thai basil Wagyu beef, cucumbers, pickled shallots, cheese in a sandwich roll with sunny side egg on top. -Passion fruit & mango sticky rice french toast: Fresh toast with sweet sticky rice, mango and passion fruit compote! - Honey Walnut shrimp & waffle: Cripsy house-made shrimp cake, house-made waffle (We removed the walnuts and we substitude a banana stuff waffle), with wasabi mayo. 4.5 stars, rounded up! Pretty packed even on a Monday for lunch, but we were still seated quickly and food came out quite fast. Drinks The berry coffee was AMAZING, and I don't even like coffee. Perfectly balanced in terms of sweetness and tartness of the berries. Not a matcha - milk, topped with some kaya - I don't know about this one, I kind of feel like the pandan custard should have already been blended into the drink? The kaya was delicious, but definitely hard to stir into the milk, so it was kind of just milk with occasional delicious chunks of kaya jam. Probably wouldn't get again. Duck Duck - the duck was incredibly tender and juicy, and so flavorful. The bread pudding was fine, kind of whatever for me, but 5 stars for the duck alone. Tonkatsu sandwich - a fork and knife kind of sandwich! The cheese sauce that came with it was very reminiscent of diner gravy. I wanted to enjoy this place because I loved Khao Tiew, but unfortunately it was a miss. I ordered the Honey Walnut Shrimp & Waffle, and it was just so... bland. The shrimp was lacking flavor, even with the sauce. The waffles were crispy, nothing special. The shrimp and the waffle together sounds good conceptually, but it didn't work for me.
