Despite the long wait this place is amazing! One thing to note, if you are vegan there are not too many options: the vegan (tofu scramble, which is good, but not super special), the tropical chia pudding (this is amazing with all the fresh fruit, highly recommend) and the mushroom jook (mushrooms were delicious and the bowl was overall comforting & warm plate, however not as special as their other food options). Both French toasts are unique and super delicious! Highly recommend either one. My favorite drink was the Talay (which is unique, colorful & tasty), but the raspberry lemonade was super delicious & unique as well if you are not into coffee. However the berry coffee was not super special in my opinion, but still good. According to my friends who eat meat the Karaage & waffle was authentic. So far I've been to Tur twice for breakfast and it has not disappointed me yet. Atmosphere is nice, but seating can be a little cramped. Expect to sit literally side by side with others. Speaking of seating, they prefer if your whole party is there. They will sometimes take out their Yelp Waitlist if times get busy. Service overall is good. The person I had the first time felt like she was annoyed or trying to rush us out, but she was quick and made sure we had what we needed. The second time was great. The server was inviting, helpful, and kind. The food is cooked very well and the flavors are work together. The Kai Moo's pork was melt in your mouth. It was kind of bizzare that the server had to warn us that the pork belly was going to be fatty. It's sad that people would get something with pork belly and expect it to be lean. The Honey Walnut Shrimp and Waffle is such a genius creation. The mixture of sweet and savory works so well. I will warn that all the dishes I've had so far have been very rich and decently portioned. I highly recommend splitting dishes to taste everything and not just eat one specific dish. 2 main dishes split between 2 people was enough. Oh how I wanted to really love Tur given how good I thought Khao Tiew was! The menu wasn't very Thai in my opinion (at least for vegetarian options), and I would have liked to see more Thai forward dishes. I settled on the mushroom jook ($16) because I thought the egg-based dishes were a bit too basic and a lot of people seemed to be ordering the jook. It was okay, but I guess I would have liked more condiments like hot sauce or white pepper, since jook is basically rice porridge that you need to dress up. Husband got the softie benedict ($28) which came with 2 soft-shelled crabs. He said they were cooked well, and liked the portion size. However, the hollandaise sauce was oddly sweet. They offer a variety of Thai style congee (hook) options but today we tried the Garden Benedict and Karaage and Waffles. The Garden Benedict came with crispy oysters mushrooms and kale which were an interesting twist to your traditional vegetable Benedict with stir fried mushrooms and spinach. Actually enjoyed the crispy vegetables but they were kind of cold so probably not made to order. The eggs were properly poached and the hollandaise sauce was decent not spectacular. Worth the hype! I've been here 2x now and both times have been awesome. Really great unique food and amazing customer service. I loved the mango sticky rice French toast and the unique "jook" porridge options on their menu. I've gotten the tom yum and the mushroom one, both savory and comforting. Parking can be a challenge since it's right next to the Muni West Portal transit tunnel but there are residential spots if you are willing to walk a few blocks. There can be a bit of a wait especially on the weekends!! No reservations and they close early so check out their hours and plan accordingly. I am not usually a brunch person, but I was really pleased with my experience at Tur because of their variety of savory dishes that trend towards lunchy-ness. We got to Tur around 10:30 am on Sunday, there were 13 parties ahead of us and we waited about 45 minutes before we were seated, which was reasonable. The restaurant is pretty big and has upstairs seating so there was a constant flow of folks leaving and being seated. Service was friendly and we received our food shortly after ordering but the dishes came out one by one so there was a little bit of waiting while everyone's food got to the table. Here's what we ordered: - Softie Scramble (4.5/5): this was my favorite dish but I might be biased because I love soft shell crab! The toast was fluffy and soaked up all the egg yolk and hollandaise. The sauce was tangier than expected and didn't really taste like curry but it still paired well with the perfectly crispy crab! - Walnut Shrimp Waffle (4/5): this was also delicious and my second fav! A little bit of a smaller portion but the shrimp toast is so flavorful and the waffle was nice and crispy. Came here recently for brunch and waited well over 2 hours. Was it worth the 2 hour wait? No, absolutely not. Is the food good and delicious, yes, for the most part. Each dish was executed well and the flavors leaned more toward the sweeter side. Amongst the savory dishes, I really enjoyed the pork belly toast dish which was not too fatty and had the right amount of salt. Too bad it doesn't come with a side and had to pay extra for potatoes. Surprisingly, most items lacked acid and spice. Even their chili oil and sauce on the table weren't spicy. Portion wise, it's SF portions so don't come too hungry unless you're going to order a lot to share. I would recommend coming with a few friends to get to try the various dishes. Crab jook was also super flavorful and comforting. I'm not a huge ginger fan so could do without it in that dish but otherwise it was very good. The pad grapow sandwich was a huge portion and tasted kind of like an Asian cheesesteak (in a good way). The level of spice was good and it's overall very rich -- definitely good to share. We came to Tur after realizing they were finally open. We were fortunate to get one of the last seatings of the day after a 30 minute wait and overall, everything we had was really good! Starting with the drinks, I really enjoyed my berry coffee. I especially liked the fresh blueberry puree at the bottom of my coffee but my favorite drink of the three that we had ordered was the butterfly pea tea latte. The not a matcha latte was also good but it was a little too rich and creamy for me if I were to have the whole thing. For food, the pad krapow sandwich came first and the flavors were bold and worked well! I especially enjoyed the spice, the creaminess from the yolk, and the burst of freshness from the Thai basil. Personally the only way this could have been better was if the baguette was crisp. Next up was the kai moo which was super savory and tender. There were also a lot of different elements playing with spice, creaminess, and acidity which really elevated this "ham and eggs" experience, if you will. The final dish of our experience was the passionfruit mango sticky rice french toast which was so good! It was super fluffy but the mango and passionfruit took it to the next level with its sweetness and brightness! The bit of purple sticky rice was also a fun addition! It instantly transported me back to the streets of Singapore, where I had my first authentic taste of satay skewers. The sauce was divine and about as authentic as you can get on this side of the world. If I were to nitpick, the beef could have been a bit more tender. I also tried the Not A Matcha drink because I'm a fan of pandan. The pandan flavor tasted natural--I'm not sure whether it was made from fresh pandan, but it definitely didn't have the taste of the powdered versions. I went here during their grand opening weekend, and there were tons of people waiting. We were a party of 3 and waited about 25-30min. What we ordered: Duck Duck - the duck was cooked to perfection and fell off the bone! A unique dish paired with the croissant pudding, it was really flavorful! Softie Benedict - loved the crispy soft shell crab, I'd recommend trying this! I like how they use shokupan toast in this dish and the aioli was so tasty! Passion fruit & Mango sticky rice French toast - I had high expectations for this dish since I really like mango, but this dish fell flat for me. Maybe the honeycomb French toast would've been a better option. Overall, I recommend trying this brunch place. I could see myself coming back to try their other dishes. Using the yelp waitlist system before the holiday rush meant getting our seats at the counter without much wait. The food scored 5/5 on two of the items and not so much on the third. But I would come back again without thinking twice. Favorite dish was the karaage chicken and waffles. Nicely done. The with poached eggs also amazing. The pork belly missed for me. We came later on a weekend and promptly put our name down on the paper waitlist. People were moving, and the wait wasn't too bad! The restaurant was really open and bright. Servers were super friendly! The drinks were beautiful and delicious. I love pandan, and the not a matcha brought out the pandan. I would like to try it with oat milk next time. Food was so flavorful. Everything was delicious without being overwhelming. Our only mistake was coming in too late that the softie Benedict was sold out! We must come back for it. read more

I've never been to Khao Tiew before, but my friend swears by that restaurant and really wanted to try their brunch out, so we wanted to check this new place out! The restaurant does not take reservations, so you just walk up to the door to write your name and party number down on the waitlist. The wait wasn't too bad; it was about 30 minutes for a Sunday morning at 10 AM. Right away, service was excellent and warm, and they were very willing to answer questions. I got the Caribbean pasta and my friend the Kai Moo sandwich. Both were delicious, especially the sandwich, but the pasta felt very very salty, so I asked for more sour cream on the side to temper the salt a bit. Otherwise, the pasta was great; the pasta was al dente, and the squid was kept tender. Drinks were also pretty unique, and if I ever come back, I want to bring Lactaid so I can try the pandan milk, lol. read more

Newly opened brunch place in West Portal! I went to try their food on a Saturday with my friend and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! What we got: 1. Passion Fruit and Mango Sticky Rice French Toast: sweet, yet not too sweet, with jam-y and soft passion fruit paired with a fluffy French toast 2. Kai Moo: great mix of flavor, eggs were soft (not overcooked), chasu was fork tender and not too fatty either when eaten with the toast There is definitely a line, but I didn't have to wait too long (maybe around 10-15min). The place is conveniently located right by West Portal station, and I love the high ceiling interior. Would totally recommend this place to my friends for brunch! Would definitely want to come again to try other items on their menu! Total price was reasonable for brunch, came out to be around ~$28 per person. read more

The food was good except they had wasabi in my food and it was really too early for breakfast. The service was very good. It reminded me of their sister restaurant. Some chunks of the pork belly was just straight fat to though so wish it did have a bit more meat to rice ratio Puu jook 4/5 - tasty esp with chili oil. Smaller portion. Wish it had some crispy scallions though! Shrimp toast 3/5 - soft not crispy. Needed a bit more crispy garlic/shaklot. a bit disappointing since our waitress was the one who told us to get it. Chili oil $1 boo. Khao tiew is better use of the money based on this visit but would return to try other dishes, to make a fuller judgment. read more

As yummy as those are, I do prefer savory so their line of jook options were just what I needed. I tried one that had a comforting combo of crab and creamy egg with fresh green onions and ginger.
