This place came highly recommended during our visit to San Francisco. It's a trendy place with a line but definitely worth the wait. The best food we tried was the fried chicken with rice cakes. We also tried their seasonal drink, Melona soda, and matcha which were both delicious!

Stopped by Sohn and left impressed. I ordered the einspanner latte, popcorn chicken, and cold noodles, and every dish was a hit. The popcorn chicken was crispy and flavorful, and the mochi served alongside it was such a fun touch that worked really well. The einspanner latte was smooth and balanced, and the cold noodles were refreshing and packed with flavor. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared, and the quality really stood out. Definitely a spot I'd come back to and one I'd recommend if you're looking for a great meal and coffee in SF. Service was terrific. The aesthetic was very peaceful.

Sohn is a great place to work from or study. Theres a solid amount of tables and seating upstairs and the interior design is great. Ordering is also easy if you are eating in. Scan the qr code to order and they'll bring your drinks/food up to you I thought the food was quite good. I ordered the Galbi Patty Melt which came in the form of a croissant sandwich that had a great size and flavors. A friend ordered the kimchi fried rice. The portions and flavors on both were solid for a cafe. Definitely worth getting some food if youre planning on staying for a while. For coffee, i ordered the sohn signature cream top. This was a little underwhelming, as i felt the espresso didnt come through as strongly as i would have liked. The cream top also did not have much flavor which made it feel more like a normal latte than a signature item. Not bad, but not a must have either. Overall will come back. Good vibes, and a solid place to work from. There are some tables upstairs that are right under the AC, so it can be a little breezy

Finally checked out Sohn after seeing all the hype, and I was surprised it's so close to my office. The biggest thing to know is parking. It can be tough right by the café, but there are residential streets a short walk away with 1-, 2-, and 4-hour parking, so it wasn't too bad once I found a spot. The staff were friendly, but one thing caught me off guard: if you're by yourself, you can't sit at one of the larger tables. They'll ask you to sit at the communal table or with others so they can maximize seating. I went on a Friday, and it seemed like a lot of people were working remotely, so it was pretty busy. I ordered one of their signature drinks. One small inconvenience: you can't add extra espresso through the QR ordering system, so I had to place a separate order with the barista to add a triple shot because I needed the caffeine. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of. The coffee itself was pretty good, but not something I'd specifically crave. I honestly came more for the vibe, and the atmosphere definitely lived up to the hype. One pleasant surprise was the Wi-Fi. Even with so many people working there, it was fast and reliable, and I didn't have any issues. I didn't get to try the food this visit, but I'd definitely come back to give it a shot. Next time I'll bring a friend so we can grab our own table, since seating gets pretty tight. Overall, it's a great spot if you're looking for a cozy café to work or catch up with someone. Just be prepared for limited parking, communal seating if you're solo, and know that the experience is more about the atmosphere than the coffee itself.

I came back to Sohn with a friend who was visiting from SoCal, and since we were already nearby, I had to put him onto this place. After my first visit, I knew I had to bring someone else here to try it, and this time we decided to try some of their food. We got the Sohn Breakfast Sandwich and Galbi Patty Melt to share, and let me tell you, we absolutely finished everything within 5 minutes. It was that good. I usually don't even like sandwiches that much, but these were honestly so enjoyable that I didn't mind at all. Both were flavorful, filling, and had such a good balance of textures that made every bite satisfying. Of course, we had to get the Sohn Signature Matcha Cream Top again because it's one of my favorites. The cream top is so smooth and pairs really well with the matcha without being overly sweet. We also tried the Banana Matcha Oat Milk Latte, and I was actually surprised by how much I liked it. I usually don't like banana-flavored things, but this was one of the few banana drinks that I didn't mind. The banana flavor wasn't too overpowering, and it blended nicely with the matcha and oat milk. I'm really glad I came back and got to try more of their menu. Sohn is definitely becoming one of those places I keep wanting to bring people to because there's always something new to try.

We went at 1pm on Sunday, and luckily there was no line. (There was a huge line when we were leaving at 2 pm.) We got the kimchi fried rice, buckwheat noodles, patty melt, popcorn chicken. I was most excited for the patty melt, but in the end it was the most disappointing. It was just kind a dry burger, with no special flavor. The croissant bun was nice. However I was pleasantly surprised by the cold noodle salad and the popcorn chicken which came with fried tteoboki. The melona soda was fun too, but too much ice and not enough soda. Overall, the food and drink was moreover average, but! the pricing is very fair. Convenient location next to Dogpatch Boulders

I stopped by (literally today haha) on a beautiful sunny Saturday, and I was in the mood for a good matcha place to treat myself to. I've had this place saved for awhile, and I was anxious to try it on a sunny Saturday, knowing that reviews often mention a long wait. To my surprise, my visit went well and I waited under 30 minutes!! **There's 2 separate lines - To dine in, and to go. I ordered to go. FOOD: 9/10 MATCHA: 8/10 AMBIANCE: 10/10 SERVICE: 9/10 What I ordered: Kimchi Fried Rice ($14) Iced Matcha with Oat-milk and Sweetener ($6) FOOD: 9/10 The kimchi fried rice was so good! I loved how they were not shy with the garnishments (seaweed and green onions). I love that it already came with a well cooked fried egg and I did not have to pay for extra which is rare. I did notice the fried rice was a little bit on the sweeter side but not too sweet, hence why I give it a 9/10. MATCHA: 8/10 They have GOOD quality matcha! I give it an 8 because personally, it was too strong for me despite paying extra for sweetener. It honestly did not taste like they added sweetener so I had to add my own at home. But honestly, their Matcha can easily be a 9/10 rating for those who just like matcha and milk on it's own. There's no doubt the matcha was good quality, whisked well, and not grainy. AMBIANCE: 10/10 I loved the aesthetic and ambiance at Sohn. It's very spacious both for the waiting area and to dine in. There's an upstairs and downstairs, and I noticed there was kitchen-side seating as well. Sohn is modern, sleek, and elegant but not overly decorated. SERVICE: 9/10 Although when ordering to go, you order on your own through the kiosk so you don't really encounter much interactions with the staff. However, there is a staff member that was at the front, directing people when to come in and wait, etc. and she was very nice! I even asked her a few questions about the menu and she was very detailed and kind. I definitely would come back but also in no rush to, since parking wasn't that great.

Hip, Korean fusion cafe with abridged food and extensive drink menu. My friend and I checked out this place. We were able to get in on a Saturday afternoon after a short wait. We ordered the popcorn chicken, kimchi fried rice, and hojicha with an espresso shot latte. I was glad that there were gluten free options. The popcorn chicken was unfortunately a little salty, which went well with the fried rice. The hojicha latte was missing the light sweetness that we ordered. Ambiance was light and airy. And there's an elevator in case you don't want to use the stairs to get to the upstairs.

My mom and I decided to go here after seeing how popular it was on social media, so we just had to check it out. First of all, parking here is super difficult, so you might have to park a few blocks away unless you're lucky. Second of all, there's a line with around a 15 minute wait, so it does take a lot of patience if you're up for it. In my opinion, I think it is worth it though! Walking in, the cafe itself is actually really big. It has the lofty feel to it, and there's plenty of seating and study areas. We were seated on the second floor of the cafe, and the staff were super nice and friendly. Moreover, my mom and I decided to order the popcorn chicken, galbi melt, and the kimchi fried rice since we heard those were the popular ones. There can be a little wait for the food, but it was manageable. For starters, the galbi melt was so, so, so good! The bread itself is a sesame croissant with korean BBQ beef, and kimchi slaw. Everything went together so well, and it'll definitely make you full. Furthermore, the kimchi fried rice had so much flavoring, and the popcorn chicken was delicious too! Small note--if you're here to try the matcha, I'd say that it's alright. It's pretty good, but nothing that makes it stand out compared to the other matcha places in the Bay Area. I'd highly recommend trying this place out when you have the chance!

Been wanting to come here for the longest time because of how cute the interior looked and I finally got to come!! Visited on a Saturday during opening time and it wasn't busy at all! They have 2 floors, the bottom is for take out and doing work I think while the top is for dining in. We were able to get seated on the top floor right away. Despite the cafe being so nice and it being a sit down, we ordered through QR codes and had to get our own water. I was expecting better service tbh, but the workers were still all very kind. I mainly came here for the matcha, and I tried the cream top matcha with oat milk. Unfortunately, it was pretty disappointing. The cream top was pretty cheesy and the matcha taste was very light. It tasted like matcha chocolate (white chocolate with a faint matcha taste). However the food was very solid. The popcorn chicken was very juicy and I loved the fried tteokbokki with the seaweed seasoning. They were perfectly lightly crisp. The kimchi fried rice was also really tasty, but I felt kinda awkward eating fried rice at 9am lol. It would've hit more during lunch time! This would be an amazing wfh cafe though. Food, drinks, and they also had lots of seating and outlets. TLDR: great food, matcha was a little disappointing, but adorable cafe

Wonderful experience for my first time at Sohn! I was greeted like how you would at a restaurant and was led to a table! But the ordering process is through their QR code. I ordered the Banana Hojicha latte and it was amazing. Both flavors were so strong yet so complementary to each other! There's tons of searing both upstairs and downstairs. I love the wood decor, white walls, and framed pictures as decoration OH not to forget that there was wifi and outlets-- optimum wfh spot!

Came here yesterday (Friday) at around 12pm. They have two separate lines for dine-in and take-out. There was a line of people waiting for dine-in and fortunately, there was none for take-out. We went straight to the tablet to place our orders. We ordered two Signature Cream Top (Espresso and Hojicha) and the Sohn Breakfast Sandwich. Both drinks were really good. The coffee had a great flavor. The hojicha was strong and delicious. I liked that we could really taste the hojicha, and it wasn't too milky. The sandwich was warm and served with these soft, flaky, square croissant buns. The egg had a soft tofu-like texture. The melted cheese pulled it all together. The onion jam was good but I could do with a little less. Nonetheless, I would not opt out of getting the onion jam; it was unique. The cafe is very spacious and aesthetically pleasing. I love the interior and the way it's decorated. It's modern, warm, and inviting. We would definitely love to come back one day.

4.5 stars Expansive, aesthetically pleasing cafe with couches, tables for meetings or coworking spaces, and 2nd floor overlooking the open kitchen. It doesn't feel cramped and it can be easy to spend the majority of the day in there. Ordering is by kiosk when you enter, there is a waiting nook for drinks. Parking can be tricky in the area with tight roads, plenty of food shops to walk to while in the area. Order: Banana matcha latte: the banana flavor was strong, and the matcha was light in comparison. was hoping for stronger matcha profile. Will try the Hojicha next time!

But Katsu is really becoming the new hype of the day for Japanese food, following the Sushi, Ramen, Japanese Curry, Katsu trend. So I came in with a critical view. I feel like Yoshoku in general may be next but I yet again digress. The box sandwich came in a cute little box. The inside was packed so I couldn't get a chance to fully appreciate the cafe, but the service was nice though the pay line may have moved slower than hoped. I'll say this. This is "the" best katsu sando in the bay. The katsu is crispy, but little on the softer side. But this hardness matches perfectly with the absolutely tender, soft, juicy pork wrapped inside. I'm looking at the menu again and it all makes sense. The pork has been in shio koji, making the meat ever so tender while adding the subtle but complicated marinated flavor. The cabbage is plenty, but not over packed to take away from the main Katsu flavor. What really perfects it for me, was not only the sweet and savory katsu sauce, but the mayo with dash of I think a karashi mustard. That slight tingle, the perfect kick gives a powerful awakening of flavor that really sets the it apart. This is art, an artisan. Culinary art is the refuge no raging rampant AI slop "art" can ever hope to touch. Until the day we get some cyborg implant to our brain into gustatory, olfactory functions. Didn't realize the rose latte would come as a hot drink but it was still good. Opted for less sweet but was a little more sweet than expected compared to the Yemeni latte. Yemeni coffee was light and subtle with cinnamon. Milk cake was moist and not too sweet - texture reminds me of a les tres cake. Rose and saffron flavors were perfect and not too overpowering Turkish coffee is not bitter or too strong. It's located at the filthy corner of 4th and Clara, which made the outside smell of urine. Fortunately the cafe itself is pretty clean, which is a nice escape from the street. I ordered an Americano and my friend got one of their $8+ lattes, which were fine, but nothing special. My biggest gripe was the service and absolute scorn of the customer. My friend and I sat at the counter basically in a staring contest with the woman behind the counter, who just stared right back. After some 30 seconds, we finally flagging her down to place our order. After turning around the drinks suspiciously quickly, my friend and I sat down to catch-up in the empty cafe. Before long, the barista pumps up the volume, increasing higher and higher every 5 minutes or so, as if to signal to us that our time was up. I asked her to turn down the volume, which she tuned down from an 11 to a 7, but minutes later it continued to creep up, like the snooze setting of an alarm clock coaxing you to wake up - except in this case, to get out. Ultimately, the volume got unbearable and we finally threw in the towel and got out of there to let the barista enjoy her music. Definitely never going back there - they clearly don't want the business. Food: 5/10 Service: 0/10 Price: $$ Atmosphere: 4/10
