Seemed like a very smooth operation with staff on walkie talkies coordinating open seating. There's a spacious loft area with comfortable, seating (mix of mostly tables and some couches that are communal seating). Majority of people were hanging around on their laptops. Lots of lovely natural lighting inside. I got the breakfast sandwich (without cheese) and a decaf espresso banana oat milk latte. My sandwich came out first. The eggs were fluffy and bacon jam had a nice sweetness. It was delicious, a bit greasy and surprisingly messy to eat. The drink was delightful. Strong espresso taste and just a hint of banana. My mom and I decided to go here after seeing how popular it was on social media, so we just had to check it out. First of all, parking here is super difficult, so you might have to park a few blocks away unless you're lucky. Second of all, there's a line with around a 15 minute wait, so it does take a lot of patience if you're up for it. In my opinion, I think it is worth it though! Walking in, the cafe itself is actually really big. It has the lofty feel to it, and there's plenty of seating and study areas. We were seated on the second floor of the cafe, and the staff were super nice and friendly. Moreover, my mom and I decided to order the popcorn chicken, galbi melt, and the kimchi fried rice since we heard those were the popular ones. There can be a little wait for the food, but it was manageable. For starters, the galbi melt was so, so, so good! The bread itself is a sesame croissant with korean BBQ beef, and kimchi slaw. Everything went together so well, and it'll definitely make you full. Furthermore, the kimchi fried rice had so much flavoring, and the popcorn chicken was delicious too! Scan the qr code to order and they'll bring your drinks/food up to you I thought the food was quite good. I ordered the Galbi Patty Melt which came in the form of a croissant sandwich that had a great size and flavors. A friend ordered the kimchi fried rice. The portions and flavors on both were solid for a cafe. Definitely worth getting some food if youre planning on staying for a while. For coffee, i ordered the sohn signature cream top. This was a little underwhelming, as i felt the espresso didnt come through as strongly as i would have liked. The cream top also did not have much flavor which made it feel more like a normal latte than a signature item. Not bad, but not a must have either. Overall will come back. After my first visit, I knew I had to bring someone else here to try it, and this time we decided to try some of their food. We got the Sohn Breakfast Sandwich and Galbi Patty Melt to share, and let me tell you, we absolutely finished everything within 5 minutes. It was that good. I usually don't even like sandwiches that much, but these were honestly so enjoyable that I didn't mind at all. Both were flavorful, filling, and had such a good balance of textures that made every bite satisfying. Of course, we had to get the Sohn Signature Matcha Cream Top again because it's one of my favorites. The cream top is so smooth and pairs really well with the matcha without being overly sweet. We also tried the Banana Matcha Oat Milk Latte, and I was actually surprised by how much I liked it. I usually don't like banana-flavored things, but this was one of the few banana drinks that I didn't mind. Came here yesterday (Friday) at around 12pm. They have two separate lines for dine-in and take-out. There was a line of people waiting for dine-in and fortunately, there was none for take-out. We went straight to the tablet to place our orders. We ordered two Signature Cream Top (Espresso and Hojicha) and the Sohn Breakfast Sandwich. Both drinks were really good. The coffee had a great flavor. The hojicha was strong and delicious. I liked that we could really taste the hojicha, and it wasn't too milky. The sandwich was warm and served with these soft, flaky, square croissant buns. The egg had a soft tofu-like texture. The melted cheese pulled it all together. The onion jam was good but I could do with a little less. Nonetheless, I would not opt out of getting the onion jam; it was unique. The cafe is very spacious and aesthetically pleasing. Came on a Friday at 2pm and there was a short line but there was still a wait because a lot of people come here to work so the tables fill up and stay filled since the AM's. The interior aesthetic is so beautifully done and the space is really comforting. We ordered the popcorn chicken which was probably our favorite food dish. Happy to be a regular at Sohn, a comfortable korean cafe offering a great place to work from home in the city and to spend time chatting away with your friends and family. I have been to Sohn at least over six times already and will continue to come here. Sohn is located 5 minutes away from the 22nd street Caltrain station, making it very convenient for commuters. However, for folks who are not familiar with the Dogpatch area, parking here can be extremely tough, so if you are not willing to spend a good chunk of time finding a spot or paying money, I would not recommend it. The free spots are usually only 4 hours max (which is pretty good for the city but still). The best time to come to Sohn is very early in the morning during opening. They have a lot of seating and it can be very peaceful and quiet, however throughout the day the traffic does increase a lot. As a note, if you decide to come here solo for dine in, they most liekly will put you either at the bar or upstairs in a communal table. They do walk you to seating, it is not open selection. As a note for Sohn, if you dine in, you will go on the left side of the shop where they will sit you to a table. On the table is a QR code where you order, and then they will bring eveerything out for you. If you want to go you line up on the right and wait to order at the kiosk. My favorite food items/drinks I have gotten at Sohn goes as followed: * Their banana oat hojicha latte, the hojicha is nice and toasty and the banana is pronounced and makes the drink creamy * Their pumpkin tea (actually one of the best teas I have ever had). I feel like Sohn is known for the matcha and hojicahs, but personally I do think one of their underrated drinks is their pumpkin tea (hot). It taste very homey, strong kaboucha flavor, and subtly sweet. I often order one matcha/hojicha to inhale and a secondary tea to enjoy slowly as I work. * Their popcorn chicken is chef's kiss. I think the rice cakes are nice and chewy, their chicken is juicy and flavored very well. One thing about me is that I love, love, love a cute cafe. I've been wanting to visit Sohn for a few months now, but I finally got to try on my recent trip to SF! Ok, first: the vibes. (My friend and I took lots, believe me.) The only "complaint" I have is that it isn't open seating; an employee will seat you when you arrive, so you can't really choose where you want to settle. Kinda bummed because I wanted to see upstairs. Even though I prioritize cafe aesthetics over food, I'm pleased to report that the food and drinks at Sohn are just as delicious as they look. Style AND substance! There's a QR code at each table, which you scan to order. The workers bring the items to your table directly, which is pretty nice. Here is a rundown of everything we ordered: - Banana oat milk hojicha latte: Wait, why was this so good? It actually might be one of the best drinks I've ever tried. You can tell they use real bananas; there are literally chunks of banana at the bottom. No artificial syrups here. The banana is sweet and creamy, not bitter at all. Plus, it's oat milk! Yay for my fellow lactose-intolerant friends. The hojicha was okay, though. I think that, if it were nuttier, the roasted flavor would've complemented the banana so well, bringing this drink to a whole new level. - Coffee hojicha: Pretty bitter if you don't add syrup, but once it's properly sweetened, it's pretty good. Since their hojicha isn't very flavorful, it's easily overpowered by the coffee, so I wouldn't recommend this one. (Though it's not bad.) - Popcorn chicken: This was so delicious and beautifully presented in a round stone bowl. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, and the fried rice cakes were a unique inclusion! They are rolled in a seaweed seasoning, which reminds me of furikake. Glad they have savory items, too. - Gochujang cookie: Meh, honestly, you can skip this. It's not a bad cookie per se, but it tastes like a regular ol' sugar cookie. Their menu has a wide variety of food and drink options, and I really enjoyed everything I ordered. I had hojicha latte and Galbi Patty Melt (their breakfast sandwich). Hojicha latte was not too sweet so you can focus on the nutty flavor of the drink. And what I like most is that the "hot hojicha" was served at a perfect temperature, warm enough to be comforting but not too hot to burn my mouth. Their Galbi Patty Melt featured Korean BBQ beef, cheddar cheese, and kimchi slaw on a sesame croissant bun. The popcorn chicken and mochi bites is good, wish that it came with a sauce on the side otherwise would be perfect! They did have sriracha that you can grab but I think another sauce would complement it better. The gochujang snickerdoodle is my current favorite cookie. It has the crispy edges but soft in the middle. Perfect density and not too sweet! The drinks have been hit or miss with me. I've gotten the banana latte twice. The first time there wasn't enough banana but the second time was too much banana. Coffee itself is tasty! Went here on a Sunday around 1pm with two other friends. The service was fast since we didn't dine in and it has a really open style interior. I ordered the sohn signature cream top,popcorn chicken,butter croissant, and their breakfast sandwich. Popcorn chicken: it was alright the flavor wasn't memorable but the rice cakes it came with were an interesting addition. Croissant: like any other croissant Breakfast sandwich: I think it was a good balance of ingredients and I enjoyed the texture of the eggs. Not too salty but personally I didn't think it was anything outrageous. sohn signature cream top: I think I enjoyed the drink the cream top was a good contrast to the rest of the drink. It was a good size and not too much ice. I would recommend to try it if you haven't. Or unsure of what to get for drinks. I think this is a place worth to give a try if you're looking for places to take pictures and try new drinks. read more

came back on a sunday around 11:45am, where we waited around 15 minutes to be seated. ambiance is beautiful as usual and we were sat downstairs on the couch. unfortunately this visit was ruined by not one but TWO screaming children in our section. the child next to us ended up knocking over all the silverware and was banging it on the table. my main point of frustration was the food runner kept trying to give my food AND drink to the table next to us. it was frustrating that i had to speak up to get my order since he didn't bother asking me and was only speaking to the other table. banana oat milk latte (5/10): got this with decaf espresso, and i really like that they have this option! the espresso was VERY acidic though, not my favorite. if there was a bit more oat milk i would have enjoyed it a lot more, but the more i drank the more it grew on me. sohn breakfast sandwich (5/10): love how fluffy the egg is, the sesame seeds on the bread, and the unique onion jam, but it was very oily. when paired with acidic espresso this does not sit well with my stomach. read more

What a neighborhood gem!! It's such a great place for whether you're in need of a study/work session or meeting up with friends to catch up. The inside is huge, with a huge seating area. Also love that the tables upstairs are all positioned along walls, so there are outlets at practically every table if you need to grind. Came in on a weekday around noon, and it was fairly crowded but we were seated immediately. There's QR codes on the tables, and the servers bring up your food and drinks. We ordered a matcha signature cream top and a hojicha latte, as well as the popcorn chicken and the spicy cold buckwheat noodle salad. Everything was absolutely amazing!! The matcha was very smooth, and the popcorn chicken was seasoned and fried perfectly. The noodle salad was also light and refreshing yet also very filling! They do get pretty busy, so it might take a while to get your food/drinks. Also parking isn't super great, but definitely visit if you're in the area! read more

My friend and I were determined to make the most of a PTO Friday, with SF temperatures in the sizzling range. After visits to Hamburguesa Bar and Shoji, we capped our afternoon at Sohn and I am very glad we did. First off, the space is gorgeous. We got our order to go because I had a kid to pick up on the other side of the Bay but this is definitely a place you want to settle into! The ceilings are soaring and the vibes are good. Second, thank you for making me feel seen as a non-coffee drinker Sohn! All of the drinks offer the following options: espresso, matcha, hojicha. My tea-loving prayers have been answered! I can't think of a better way to beat the heat than an iced banana oat milk hojicha latte. Ambiance: SŌHN is a Korean breakfast / brunch cafe in the Neighborhood of dogpatch within San Francisco. The restaurant offers both downstairs and upstairs seating with coffee bar access as well. The restaurant also features both rustic and modern Korean decor throughout the cafe. Wait Time: Depending on if you choose dine in or take out the time may vary, but relatively quick service for dine-in. Service: Menu is available via QR code at the bar and on the tables in the restaurant with servers bringing food and drinks as the order is placed. They do require you to pay before the order is complete so there is not much interaction outside of when they bring food out. Food: The Matcha Cream Top was good with a nice earthy flavor from the matcha and complimented by the cream placed on top of the drink. The size is a fair price compared to other matcha around the city and not overly filled with ice as well. The Galbi Patty Melt was good with less of a marinated flavor that you might expect from the Galbi, though it was not dry as there was both a kimchi slaw and dress placed on top. The bun of the Melt was extremely light and crispy with loads of sesame seeds which provided a complimentary texture. The gochujang caramel cookie was crisp around the edges and softer along the middle of the cookie. Not overly powerful from the gochujang itself and tasted almost like a snickerdoodle and sugar cookie mixed together. A very fair priced for the size of the cookie as well. Overall, SŌHN was a delightful experience with lots of delicious beverages and food that I'd definitely come back and try again in the future. read more

A beautiful and very spacious cafe located right next to Dogpatch Boulders. I came here with the intention to explore a new cafe but had no idea that the line would be 30+min for Sit Down as well as Take Out. It was busy. You see a large amount of people doing work on their laptop but also many who came here to eat and socialize. It does slightly feel like a social hub where people come and meet their friends to hang out. They need to clean their restrooms more frequently because I can tell they do it probably once a week. They need to have someone go in in and clean every 30min for that amount of people who visit Sohn daily. read more

Such a cute vibe, situated near the waterfront. There was a bit of a wait, but once seated, would be a great place to bring a laptop, read, or have a day to yourself with a nice coffee and breakfast sandwich. Once inside, there's an open space layout with a clean corporate wood design. There's 2-floors of seating and open seating once you get to the front of the line. There's a QR code to order from and their menu is filled with special espresso drinks. This is exactly what I imagine going to a Korean cafe would be like. Sohn is a spacious, aesthetically pleasing cafe to get some work done or catch up with friends. They offer free WiFi and table service. We had to wait in line on a Friday afternoon to get seated. I tried the yuja perilla espresso tonic and it was so good! Didn't taste much of the perilla but the citrus flavor was strong. Food was good as well. The tables are small to have space to eat, drink, and work though. Overall I'd love to come back when I'm in the city, preferably on a weekday or during a time when it's not too busy. read more

I heard so many great things from friends about Sohn and so I wanted to check it out! Inside the cafe looked so aesthetically pleasing and welcoming, but the line to sit was a bit too long for me. I opted for the to-go and was able to try the chocolate croissant (8.5/10), Seoul sausage pepper croissant (8/10), galbi patty melt (6/10), and the decaf banana oat latte (6.6/10). I really liked the chocolate croissant and Seoul sausage croissant :) but the banana oat latte was a bit too sweet for me. I wish there was an option to lower the sweetness. We arrived on a Sunday mid-morning, waited over an hour to be seated & 15 minutes after we sat down, ordered, and received most of our food, a server told us to move because there was no other table that will be able to sit a new party of five (we're a party of four). We spoke to a manager and they were able to help us move to a better table than the one were originally shunted to. They're very busy but I appreciate that we get proper service if we ask. Great food & drinks. Seoul Sausage Pastry is a filling, savory treat! Breakfast Sandwich has steamed egg which is super melt-in-your-mouth good. The signature cream top drink has a cream that is not too heavy and doesn't overpower the base of the drink. Great balance. Yuja Perilla Espresso Tonic is a standout, super refreshing and light. It starts off with a note of strong flavor that goes away at the end of the sip. I'm back~~~ Decided to take my friends for a brunch after run on a Sunday morning. The line for eat in moved fairly quickly. We ordered kimchi fried rice, popcorn chickens, and spicy cold buckwheat noodle salad. They were so delicious! We love that fried rice cake comes with popcorn chicken. The kimchi fried rice is not as oily as the other kimchi fried rice that I had before at other places. Spicy cold buckwheat noodle salad was perfect since we want to eat some greens. Such an awesome cafe/3rd space!! They have done in or take out. I dined in and they take you to your table. You order via QR code and they bring your food to you. Very much like a restaurant with cafe food. Their matcha was super flavorful ($7) - I like when the matcha flavor is stronger than the milk flavor. I worked there for 3 hours and there were a bunch of others working as well. It's not quiet. So if you want a quiet space then I would go somewhere else or wear noise cancelling headphones. I got their popcorn chicken ($10) and the furikake they put on it was a nice touch. I think everything was normal priced. They should open another location close to usf as I think they get a lot of traffic in that area! read more
