Would come back everyday for the crispy lotus chips dipped in that tofu. The interior decorator also understood the assignment. However, the many other dishes we tried were not mind blowing. Skip the black sesame noodles. But be sure to order a few items off the menu to get the full experience.
The yummiest meal and would go back! The food options were so unique and just a great homage to Taiwan. My favorite was the mapo tofu chip dip and the honey walnut shrimp, however every dish we got was soo good! Price point was also very fair as well :)
Black sesame crème Brûlée was good, torched at your table, always fun to watch the sugar top layer get fired up and turn into a yummy and delicate crispy layer. Casual ambiance, totally full with a crowd waiting outside Sunday 6pm Don't go inside, if you do they will tell you to stand outside. stay at door to scan QR code to get on the waitlist. Service was somewhat awkward throughout the meal because of two of the three servers that helped my table, like looking at you then ignoring you and going on to do other things when you're looking at them for help. The third male server who torched the crème brûlée was great and friendly
Came here before dinner rush and was seated right away. They had some nice modern fusion dishes and good portion sizes. The servers were also attentive. -Mapo tofu chips n dip: I liked how they used lotus root for the chip, the dip itself was airy and light. It also had a lot of flavor -Scallion pancake beef roll: This was tasty and the roll was balanced. The pancake did seem a tad oily though -XO sauce fried rice: Definitely recommend adding spicy tendon, this was my favorite dish! The tendon added a nice richness and kick -Braised beef noodle soup: Tasted clean and the beef was tender, the noodles seemed handmade and had a nice bite/texture

Chili oil wontons -- could have more chili oil evenly distributed but the wontons had nice flavor Black sesame noodles -- didn't love the sauce flavor or the texture of the noodles but the beef was very tender Mapo tofu chip & dip -- very fun app, loved the tofu dip and the fried chips Pork XLB -- skin is too thick and not enough soup inside but good flavor Scallion beef roll -- wish the beef was more tender but the flavor & sauce were on point, the scallion pancake was super chewy and yummy Portions are on the smaller side & all shareable so I'd suggest ordering a bunch of dishes to share!
Came here for a reason, lol! We had to try their black sesame sauce beef noodles and black sesame crème brûlée. Both were really interesting, but the black sesame crème brûlée was definitely the winner! You can really taste the black sesame flavor--it's kind of like a texture between black sesame paste and pudding, with a good amount of creaminess and sweetness. And surprisingly, they torch the sugar right in front of you! It was such a fun touch, and the flavor was definitely unique. I really enjoyed it! I actually wanted to order another black sesame crème brûlée to go, but unfortunately, it's dine-in only. The black sesame sauce beef noodles had a strong black sesame aroma, but once you actually eat it, the flavor doesn't come through as much. The beef was cooked perfectly, but the noodles were way too soft for me. I wish they had a chewier texture because that would've made the dish so much better. We also ordered the truffle oil tofu noodles and beef roll. You can really smell and taste the truffle oil in the tofu noodles, but the noodles were kind of tough and dry. I think a softer, more tender texture would make them much better. The beef roll was good overall, but there was just way too much sauce, and it was too salty. I couldn't even finish the wrap. Customer service was great, and the place was clean, organized, and well-maintained. Definitely some hits and misses, but that black sesame crème brûlée was the highlight for me! :)
For a city with a lot of good Chinese food, this restaurant is sadly not it. The place drew us in with its modern decor and menu... and its line, but it was not worth the wait. Came here on a Sunday evening as a party of 3. It took us around 30 min to get a table around 6 or 7 PM. We ordered the following: - Mapo Tofu Chip and Dip (5/5): This was the best thing we got. The mapo tofu is more of like a silken tofu, emulating a creamy dip. You get wonton and lotus chips; absolutely loved the lotus chips. The tofu was delicious too. - Xiao Long Bao (2.5/5): The skin is incredibly starchy and thick. The flavor was also a bit lacking and not enough soup. - Tomato Noodle Soup (3.5/5): Not bad but needs more tomato flavor. Mushrooms needed to be smaller too. Noodles were good consistency. - Dan Dan Noodles (1/5): I could not get over the fact that this had a chocolatey taste. The taste was so odd and nothing like the traditional dish. - Shrimp and Chive Dumplings (2/5): Might as well rename this as chive dumplings. There was barely any shrimp and I even got some without any shrimp at all. The skin was also thick and starchy. We also wanted to get the Black Sesame Noodles but they were already out of it by the time we arrived. The servers were nice but we also had some ordering issues where they misheard us and brought out some dishes we didn't order. Overall, this place was quite disappointing in flavor, especially considering the other Chinese spots in the area. It seems like they're quite new, so maybe they are still figuring out flavors.
Stumbled across this delicious modern Chinese spot after looking for food in the area on Monday night. While many other restaurants close early on Mondays, Pang is open until 9pm! We tried the spicy beef noodle soup, honey walnut shrimp, and the cilantro pork salad. The favorites were the cold pork salad with a delicious sesame sauce and onsen egg. The beef noodle soup was also so filling and nourishing with bok choy and braised beef. The staff was really helpful in getting us seated and being friendly
So glad I finally got to try Páng! Surprisingly we didn't have to wait at all, though saw some others on the waitlist later. We got to try a good variety of dishes. Really loved the mapo tofu chips n dip concept--such a fun combination, and they were able to serve the pork separately for us since someone in our party didn't eat pork! The tomato egg noodle soup was also delicious and hearty, great soup for the soul. Feeling inspired to make my own. The other dishes were also solid! Enjoyed the subtle truffle flavor in the tofu salad. The Dan Dan noodles weren't spicy at all which was a bit surprising, but they were very tasty! The honey walnut shrimp with mala was actually rather spicy despite the server saying it wouldn't be, but his spice tolerance is probably just way better than mine. Cucumber salad and green beans were good but not that memorable for me (but of course need to eat some vegetables!!) Seemed like other people loved the cucumbers though :) Pretty cozy restaurant! Not that big but felt full and lively. Nice place for a small group dinner or a casual date!
3.5/5! Dan Dan Noodles with Egg: too sweet of a sauce for me. Reminded me a bit of hoisin sauce combined with peanut butter. Noodle texture was good though. Wouldn't get again. Mapo Tofu Chip Dip: pretty good! Dip was a bit too salty for me. I also preferred the lotus chips over the wonton chips. Black sesame crème brûlée: probably my favorite dish of the three. Not too sweet and an interesting twist!
Chinese restaurant with an ABC fusion twist to traditional Chinese food. Just opened. Relatively small store but they have a QR code for the waitlist. Lots of interesting dishes here. Started with the yuzu sparkler but just normal sparkling water with subtle yuzu flavor. The mala honey walnut shrimp was unique. Light crust on the shrimp and had a small kick from the mala. Alone it tasted in the saltier side. Had crispy candied walnut. The black sesame noodle was also unique. I'd recommend it if you like black sesame because it is heavy on the black sesame flavor. The mapo tofu chip and dip had creamy tofu but the mapo flavor wasn't that strong. Fried lotus root and the fried wonton was tasty. The popcorn chicken took a while to come out but great seasoning on the chicken and crispy crusts. The mala sauce was gritty. Would prefer a more creamy sauce for the popcorn chicken. The steamed dumplings had a thick skin. I got the fish and mushroom filling and was decent. Finished with the black sesame crème brûlée and that was my favorite dish. They torch on the table and had a string creamy black sesame. Loved the concept and place is worth a try for their creative dishes but would try other places before coming back. Their beef rolls look good and have a crispy puffy wrap.
Nice new modern Chinese restaurant on Irving! The restaurant has a nice interior, bright and well decorated. They have some unique dishes on the menu and a lot of Chinese classics as well. I came at 5:15pm on a Friday as a party of 2 and was seated right away. But I hear the wait can get long if you come during peak dinner time. We ordered the mapo tofu dip, the black sesame noodles, the beef stew with noodles and the black sesame crème brûlée. Everything was good but we enjoyed the mapo tofu dip, the beef stew and the crème brûlée the most. The mapo tofu dip was flavorful and creative! It had the mapo tofu flavor but wasn't spicy. The beef stew was tender and delicious, and it came with a good amount of beef. The black sesame crème brûlée was great! They torch the sugar topping at the table, it was fun to get a little show. I also enjoyed the passionfruit sparkler, it was very refreshing and they used real passionfruit. I will definitely be coming back to try more dishes!

There were 4 of us, and we ordered a total of 6 dishes to share. - String Beans w/ Parmesan ($16): Seasoned well and I liked the addition of parmesan. There wasn't a lot of parmesan though. The string beans were also not as fresh as I wished. Expensive for a plate of veggies. - Ginger Scallion Pesto Noodles ($16): Noodle texture was perfect. Overall, it's a very simple dish with just noodles, pesto, and fried scallions. I wished there was some kind of protein with it. It was good but just a little underwhelming. - Beef Roll ($12): There were 4 pieces so one each for the 4 of us. Crispy and saucy. Good ratio of beef, scallion, and cucumber. - Popcorn Chicken ($14): Pleasantly surprised by how much there was. Seasoned well, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. Favorite dish out of the 6. - Tofu Roll ($11): Good. Same as the beef roll but just with tofu. - Pork Soup Dumplings ($11): Decent. Nothing out of the ordinary or unique.
Chinese food with a creative twist! Was not sure what to expect at this new place in the Sunset but it completely amazed me! I loved the flavors and unique dishes, truly a standout from traditional Chinese food. The mapo tofu dip and chips were definitely a highlight for me (5/5). The chips were crispy and the mapp tofu dip had a great saucy consistency and was surprisingly not too spicy. I loved the black sesame creme brulee too, with its rich black sesame chilly base paired with the fleshly blowtorched creme brulee top (5/5). We also got the black sesame noodles and the pork and chive dumplings. Solid choices - beef was tender, noodles were not too sweet or too salty and for the dumplings, the inside was juicy. Noodles and dumplings I'd rate a 4/5, would be nice if the serving size was slightly bigger. Overall not too expensive, came out to around $65-$70 for two people. I enjoyed my time here and would definitely come again to try some of their other dishes! Service was great, and we got a table right away on a Monday night. I would maybe be careful about sanitation and encourage the business to use hairnets or hairties, my friend found a hair in his water. read more
I've been wanting to try Pàng since they opened a few months ago, and I finally got the chance for dinner! We arrived around 5:30 PM and the restaurant was already packed. We joined the QR-code waitlist as #3 with an estimated 15-35 minute wait, but because a few tables were finishing up, we were seated in about 15 minutes. Although there were a couple of service hiccups during our meal, the food was so outstanding that it easily won us over: Braised Beef Noodle Soup: Fantastic! The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the noodles were cooked just right, and the broth wasn't overly salty--my toddler loved drinking it! Black Sesame Noodles with Beef Tenderloin: A star dish. The beef was cooked perfectly, and the savory sesame sauce had a rich depth reminiscent of a great Dan Dan sauce. String Beans with Parmesan: A surprisingly amazing pairing! I'd never thought to combine parmesan with green beans before, but the flavors worked so well together. Spicy Beef Tendon: Sliced paper-thin and packed with flavor. Green Onion Pancake: Decent, though I personally wished for a stronger green onion flavor. Crab & Pork Soup Dumplings (XLB): The kitchen forgot this dish initially, so it came out last after a quick reminder. My toddler really wanted them, so we waited--while the flavor was solid with plenty of soup inside, the crab flavor was a bit light. Sesame Crème Brûlée: The absolute highlight of the night! They torch the sugar tableside, and cracking into that crisp top reveals a deeply flavorful black sesame base that tastes like a rich sesame soup dessert. They mentioned they're removing it from the menu soon, which is such a shame because it's unbelievable! Service Note & Kid-Friendliness: We had to ask twice for missing water glasses at our table, and the forgotten XLB delayed our end of the meal slightly. However, I was so impressed that the staff proactively noticed our toddler while we were waiting outside and had a high chair and kids' tableware fully set up at our table before we even sat down--without us even mentioning it on the waitlist! No wait on a Thursday 6:30pm on the week of August 2026, it got busier closer to 7pm. The interior was clean, the menu was simple. A 3.5 stars. Order a couple items, beef roll, beef chow fun and sesame noodle: The beef chow fun noodles were amazing, but could use some wok heat! A lot of restaurants have super broken or mushy noodles, the rice noodle had great texture, chew, and hold. The sesame noodle is a bit odd. The beef was tender. The sesame sauce texture is somewhat chalky with nutty taste, I think it's slightly usual texture too, it needs some spice or chili oil to make it taste better. The beef wrap was pretty good and flavorful. Overall, some items are tastier than items. read more

Came here with a friend for dinner on Friday and it was pretty busy but the line wasn't too bad. We ordered a few dishes to try. 1. Mapo tofu chip & dip - 4.5/5, we were pleasantly surprised by how good this was especially with the lotus root chip. 2. Cilantro pork salad - 3/5, this tasted very interesting and similar to eating hotpot sesame sauce lol. Wasn't super amazed by it. 3. String beans - 3.5/5, standard green beans but they added shaved Parmesan on top which kind of worked but again pretty standard nothing really amazing. 4. Braised beef noodle - 4/5, we thought this would have more broth. This was more like a saucy based noodle dish. We did like the flavor and enjoyed the elements of it but wanted something soupy. Overall, this was a cute spot to get dinner. Love the theme and would want to try their dumplings next time. read more

Cozy restaurant! For a table of 3, we waited about 20mins on a Saturday afternoon. Their online reservation tool was a bit misleading or miscalculated and told us it was less than 5mins but we were willing to wait for their soft opening. Mapo tofu chips n dip: (9/10) the table's favorite dish!! So good and so genius. The lotus chips paired so well with the silky tofu dip Stir fried rice cake: (7/10) not the best I've had or that remarkable but still yummy! Had the right chew but it was missing a bit of oomph Pork soup dumplings: (6/10) Not terrible but I don't think I would get this again. The skins broke easily and it just didn't taste as fresh or as good as some others I've had. Beef stew: (7.5/10) handmade noodles and tender meat were delicious but wish it had a bit more flavor or soup! Definitely add some of their table chili oil to this if you order this! Mango sparkler: (8/10) refreshing and not too sweet! read more
Interesting Chinese restaurant with twist. We tried a variety of dishes, ranging from appetizers to dessert. Their menu is very similar to more traditional Chinese dumpling restaurants, and adds a twist to some of the common dishes like mapo tofu (using fried chips instead of rice). Pros: The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The menu was fun to try. Cons: The meat in the sesame noodles were very tough. And popcorn chicken was on the harder side. read more
Always looking to support a new neighborhood joint, I met up with my daughter at Pang for a quick bite. It's bright, clean and has plenty of tables at 4:30. I ordered a spicy beef tendon, which was chewy with a Sichuan kick to it. Collagen's good for my joints and my daughter didn't want any, so I had it by myself. She ordered dan dan noodles, which had a nice chewy texture and creamy sesame meat sauce, with a poached egg on top. I also wanted the black sesame noodles but it never came - something went amiss during the ordering! Will circle back for it next time! read more
Came here for their opening weekend with 2 other friends! They were doing a free drinks for all (each person gets a free drink) and we tried each flavor of the sparklers (i liked the mango and passionfruit ones). Of the food items we tried, our favorites were def the mapo tofu chip n dip and the black sesame creme brulee. We also tried the black sesame noodles and they recommended we add vinegar to it. I came here for a solo dining experience during opening weekend and will definitely be back! Long queue so plan ahead! They had a QR code outside you could scan then wait and walk around Food: so yummy! Standouts were definitely the mapo tofu dip with lotus root chips and black sesame crème brûlée. Mapo tofu with fried lotus chips: soooo good! Chips were perfectly crispy and the tofu dip was packed with flavor. I will say this is more of a shareable appetizer due in my opinion because the saltiness of the dip and fried chips can be overwhelming if it were just one person eating black sesame crème brûlée: im usually not a crème brûlée person but i saw that this had a good review and went with my gut and ordered. perfect portions for one person, not overwhelmingly sweet, and the sweet + smoky black sesame was highlighted so well! Tofu noodles: refreshing app but might not order this again. Personally felt that the noodles were a little bland, but the chili oil they had on every table definitely helped Black sesame noodles with 24 hr braised beef: black sesame paste was sweet and creamy. Based on how the meat looked I thought it would be dry but was pleasantly surprised when it wasn't! Meat was decently tender and moist, though maybe most tender I've ever had. It's a creamy carb heavy dish which was a bit overwhelming for just one person, so I'd recommend sharing. It was cool to try but not sure I'd order it again. Ambiance: overall the menu has some fun fusion spins on classic Chinese dishes, which appealed to my ABC self. Flavors besides the mapo tofu ran on the milder, sweet side which I like. We tried Pang on July 9 and it was a very busy Thursday for them. We put ourselves on the QR code list available onsite, and initially said 160 minutes but all in all we ended up waiting about 40 minutes, so don't lose faith! We were a group of four so we're able to try many dishes. The portions were generous and shareable. We had: 1) Mala tofu dip (they were running a promo, so this was free that evening) 2) honey walnut Mala shrimp - delicious, my favorite dish of the night - good fry on the shrimp and good flavor 3) beef pancake rolls - good but those who know the Sunset well would find these in line with what other restaurants serve 4) beef stew with tendon - good flavor but a tad salty so should eat this with rice 5) black sesame noodles - I know this is their signature dish but I didn't enjoy this. Our friend group was split on it - some said it was like peanut butter noodles. I just found it sweet and a little odd personally. Service was friendly and attentive. The space is small and aesthetic - you can tell the design choices were very deliberate. All in all, a good addition to Irving. read more

As a heffer that eats Rooted Fare's black sesame paste out of the jar, I was hyped to try Pàng's black sesame offerings. Black sesame noodles? LFG! Currently in soft opening phase, Pàng took over Dumpling Park. They serve Chinese cuisine with playful modern twists. For now, open for dinner only with lunch hours to come. F O O D * Mapo Tofu Chip n' Dip 麻婆豆腐酱: Fried Lotus Root & Wonton Chips w/ mapo pork, creamy tofu ($11): https://tinyurl.com/282z9bu2 A fun take on a classic Sichuan dish and the trending creamy mapo tofu udon - the tofu dip was creamy and mild with sturdy chips for scooping. I think they played it safe, it wasn't spicy at all so we added several spoonfuls of the tableside chili sauce for heat. * Popcorn Chicken 盐酥鸡: Crispy Chicken Bites w/ house ma-la cream sauce ($14): https://tinyurl.com/2f2u4nhk Your classic Taiwanese street food snack, marinated morsels of dark meat with a crunchy, bumpy exterior. The chicken ran dry so the accompanying creamy aioli gave it some moisture. * Crab Roe Soup Dumplings 蟹黄小笼包 (6 pc - $16): https://tinyurl.com/kupzttcc You rarely see crab roe XLB so we had to order this. Super bummed this was just regular pork xlb (menu didn't state there's pork). It was savory and juicy with a chewy skin but there was maybe several specks of crab roe in the pork filling. * Black Sesame Noodles 黑芝麻面: House-made black sesame sauce, 24 hr braised beef tenderloin, black sesame noodles ($23): https://tinyurl.com/2s38k58p Standout of the night! This is the most creative black sesame dish I've tried. The housemade sesame noodles are thicc and chewy with a rich, nutty black sesame sauce that's brightened with the fresh crunch from the cucumber and red bell peppers. The beef tenderloin, sous-vide and then smoked, was incredibly tender and added a subtle smokiness that gave the dish an unexpected and unique flavor profile. If you love black sesame, this is a must try! * Black Sesame Creme Brûlée 黑芝麻 法式焦糖布丁 ($8): https://tinyurl.com/3mwpm9tp Nostalgic not too sweet Chinese dessert but frenchified....custardy and full of deep roasty flavor with a crunchy, caramelized sugar crust. I first tried to come to Pàng on a Wednesday only to discover the restaurant is closed that day. Well luckily, I was able to come back over the weekend. The place was super packed, so my friend put us on the waitlist, and at the time, there was only one group ahead of us. After maybe 15-20 minutes we were seated at a small table between others. We took a few minutes to check out the menu and settled on the cucumber salad, Shanghai bok choy, scallion pancake beef roll, and black sesame beef noodles. A waiter came by to take our order promptly, and the foods all arrived soon in quick succession. I felt like the cucumber salad and Shanghai bok choy were very standard for what they were. The scallion pancake beef roll and black sesame beef noodles stood out to me more. The scallion pancake was quite 胖 (pàng) - probably one of the thicccest I've ever had, not thin and crispy like traditional scallion pancakes, but I liked Pàng's take on it. The end piece didn't have much beef, so it was mostly pancake, but the interior pieces were stuffed full. The black sesame beef noodles were the star of the show, or in our case, table. My friend and I kept reaching for more of these yummy, gooey, savory noods topped with thinly sliced beef. If I could recommend just one thing, it would definitely be this dish. My friend remarked that Pàng's food feels homecooked and established in the neighborhood even though the restaurant is currently in soft launch, and I agree with him, as it totally encompasses the vibes Pàng is going for. I came here for dinner on Saturday. We waited around 30 minutes for our table, which wasn't bad. Once we got the notification that our table was ready, they had us wait another 5-10 minutes to get us seated. The restaurant's a decent size for SF and the modern light oak theme made the restaurant look very clean. Even though it was really busy, our waiter had the best attitude and was very kind. We tried the Three Treasures Stir Fry, DIY Scallion Pancake Roll, and Mapo Tofu Chip n Dip. The Three Treasures Stir Fry had very nice textures from the lotus and mushroom, but I thought it was a tad too salty and umami. The rice didn't balance it out too well, leaving the sauce to be overwhelming. The DIY Scallion Pancake Roll was a cool concept but the pancake was quite disappointing. The pancake was too salty and had barely any scallions. The portion of meat to the pancakes was a bit off, way too much pancake and slice of meat was a bit thin. The Mapo Tofu Chip n Dip was honestly the best out of the three dishes. It tasted just like mapo tofu and loved the blended up tofu. I did really like how all the dishes came out piping hot! However, the quality of the dishes we got was definitely lower than expectations, not sure if it's worth the price we paid. Especially because SF has so many high quality authentic spots for Chinese food, the par is definitely higher for this cuisine. I wish they put more intention into the quality and concept of it being modern. read more

There's so much good food here, and I'm happy to see another restaurant. Interior is modern, warm wood vibes and a good number of seats. Good interior for chatting and catching up. I was here for their soft opening, and there was a wait-list (60-80 minutes for two people on a Friday at 5:30pm). There was a small crowd outside the entrance the entire time my party was eating inside, so plan ahead. Service was okay. We had to flag down the servers a few times as they looked a bit busy, but staff were friendly with the few brief interactions we had. We ordered the popcorn chicken, dan dan noodles, mala dumplings, scallion pancake beef roll, and a braised beef noodle soup. This ended up being a bit more than enough food for two people and we ended up with a small box of leftovers. They do have a drink and small dessert menu too. Popcorn chicken was crispy, larger than I expected with a tangy sauce (maybe good as an appetizer for sharing up to 3 people). The dan dan noodles were good, with a lovely flavor. I thought they were good but my dining buddy said they were great. The dumplings were nice dumplings but missed the mala part of the flavor. The scallion beef pancake was crispy, flavorful, but dry (wish it had a tad more sauce or similar on it) it is like an odd burrito, which I ended up tearing into smaller pieces to eat. We got the braised beef noodle soup without the tendon. Hot, flavorful, and nicely sliced beef. The noodles looked the same as the ones in the dan dan and worked less well in a hot broth (but were fine for the dan dan). I'm glad we got the soup, as I ended up dipping most stuff into the soup for a bit more flavor. Everything here was good, but nothing was a standout to recommend. I don't think you can go wrong with the food options here. I realized at the end that there's chili oil at the table for more flavor, which I would have definitely used with most of the dishes. read more
This area can be a bit challenging to find parking but park a few blocks away and just have a nice stroll down to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is not that big, about 40 people. They have about 4 to 5 waitstaff and we didn't have any issues with refilling water or asking for extra napkins. Pang can be thought of as an upscale dumpling house with modern flare. For apps, start with the Fried Taro and Fried Wonton chips with a ma-po tofu dipping. the fried taro had a few pieces that was soggy. For the ma-po tofu sauce, pinch less salt would've been perfect and the way they made it, it would've worked best over rice. Their chili sauce was a bit on the mild side but perfect for those who want a hint of spice without burning their tongue. The dumplings were flavorful but we also tried something different; their ma-po tofu flavor dumpling was my favorite of their dumplings. Now if they were able to incorporate some actual tofu it would be a home run. The tomato and egg noodle is straight out comfort food and perfect in all ways.. Their beef roll is standard compare to other places but was very good nonetheless. A must try here is their honey walnut shrimp. Full of flavor, crispy and juicy when you bite into it. The other folks in our group loved their dan dan noodles (I'm not a peanut sauce guy) and I'll take their word that it was good. For dessert, the standard fried bun with various dipping (custard, matcha and condensed milk) is best pair with a beer. The best flavor came out if you dip the custard and matcha with the condensed milk but if you're not a fried bun person, hands down go for their black sesame Crème brûlée. It's a modern twist the regular version, but this version felt fresh and full of sesame flavor with the right amount of texture. Staff here was friendly and no complaints. Even though it was their last day of their soft opening, I didn't notice any service or food problem so you guys are ready to rock and roll!!! read more

As someone who loves Chinese food, especially hand-pulled noodles, this place was a huge disappointment, and it felt like a waste of time. I came here on a Thursday evening with a party of 3. We added our name to the waitlist at around 8 p.m. and had an estimated wait time of 20-25 minutes. We stood outside and waited and got the text message at 8:30 p.m. that our table was ready. Upon showing one of the servers the text message, he told us that it would be another 10-15 minutes before we would get seated. We waited until 8:50 p.m. before we got seated. Even though we were ready to order within minutes of being seated, the servers never came by until we finally asked if we could still order. It was 9 p.m. by the time we were able to order our food. We ordered the following: 2x Braised Beef Noodle Soup non-spicy 1x Braised Beef Noodle Soup mild spicy 1x Popcorn Chicken w/ house mala cream sauce All the food came out at different times, was lukewarm, and the server who took our order even forgot the mild spicy bowl of Braised Beef Noodle Soup. It wasn't until much later when we had to tell them that we were still missing one bowl of Noodle Soup that one of the servers went to the kitchen and came back with it, and it was still made wrong. I would describe the Braised Beef Noodle Soup as bland and salty. The soup base looked and tasted like Chinese soy sauce mixed with water. The noodle texture was very flat and mushy, it wasn't chewy at all. The mild spicy Braised Beef Noodle Soup came with 5 huge globs of mala spice, and it was so spicy and overdone that it tasted disgustingly spicy and salty. You couldn't taste anything else from it, and the heavy amount of mala spice ruined the dish. The Popcorn Chicken was also very bland and underseasoned, and the house mala sauce it came with was alright, nothing special. Overall, this place was a HUGE disappointment, and the long wait time was not worth it. I would not recommend this place at all. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because the servers were apologetic towards us. read more

The interior is really nice and modern. Service wasn't too good since orders were forgotten, but when they were taken properly, they did come out decently quickly. The food was mixed - The beef noodle soup was decent. I liked the portion of meat. I also added the tendon for $2, and it was all cooked well. The noodles were just okay. The broth was authentic, but it tasted like something was missing to give it a deeper flavor - I liked the one at Bei Fang Style Restaurant more. The shrimp & chive dumplings were bad. Dumplings are hard to mess up, but you can see in the picture here how little shrimp is in it from cutting into one. They should just call it a chive dumpling. Most seating involved tables, but there's 3 seats facing the window so good for solo diners as well. read more
Went during the soft opening and was impressed overall. The food was really good, and I'm excited to come back and try more of the menu. We ordered the Mapo Tofu Dip, which was the standout dish of the meal. The Hot and Sour Soup was also flavorful and well-executed. We also tried the soup dumplings, which were a bit disappointing. The wrappers were slightly doughy and chewy, and there wasn't as much soup inside as we expected. The service felt a little awkward at times, which is understandable during a soft opening, but there are a few details that could be improved before the official launch. For example, when the soup was served, we weren't given soup spoons and had to ask for them afterward. Overall, the food showed a lot of promise, especially some of the signature dishes. With a few refinements to both the service and certain menu items, I think this place has the potential to become a great addition to the neighborhood. Looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes after the official opening. read more

I had the mapo tofu chips n dip, beef scallion pancake roll, pork and cabbage dumplings, tomato egg noodles, and honey walnut shrimp. Mapo tofu in a dip format was really interesting with the lotus root chips, and the dumplings were probably my favorite dish. Reasonable prices and the wait time was not too bad on a weekday evening. read more

The restaurant is cute and the energy is great, but the food is mediocre Chinese food. Especially for the price, you can go to Chinatown and get a tastier, more flavorful meal for $10. This is one of those places that I'm glad I went to once but probably won't be going back to. Service was relatively quick and the servers were very nice. read more
I've been watching pang closely since I saw the coming soon sign walking down 9th Ave a few months ago and I'm glad it's finally open - we can definitely use some neighborhood staples in the area! I came for their grand opening - service was a little awkward still, and the inside is clean, bright and modern. -scallion pancake beef roll ($12): this came out mostly cold (maybe slightly warm?) and was a little lacking in protein and veggie filling for us. It was also rather bland (which will be a theme here) and could have benefited from some housing sauce - I enjoyed it immensely more with the addition of their excellent (I'm assuming house made) chili crisp sauce. -black sesame noodles ($23): I was really looking forward to this since it's a unique take on the classic sesame or peanut butter mixed cold noodles I grew up eating, but while you can definitely taste the black sesame, the dish overall was still quite bland, and it still felt like something was missing even after adding the vinegar, soy, and chili oil available on the table. Again for the price the amount of protein and veggie felt a little lacking for us. -braised beef noodle soup, add tendon ($18 + $2): we got this spicy, and surprisingly it did have some heat! despite that... it was still somehow lacking flavor? This had a more generous amount of meat than the other dishes, but was overall not a memorable bowl of noodles. We were also given a complimentary dish of black sesame lava bun (normally $7 for 3) as part of the grand opening - these were good but seem to likely be premade and not too unique compared to what you would get at a typical dimsum place. Overall, I had high hopes for pang to be an option for comforting homey dishes but left feeling a little let down - the prices weren't exorbitant and everything was ok despite being rather bland, but nothing stood out enough to make it feel worth coming back when we have so many spectacular, affordable and tasty options just a little further down Irving toward outer sunset available to us. read more

This was all over my Instagram so I was pretty excited to try but left kind of disappointed. The food was honestly pretty unspecial and the black sesame noodles were lacking in flavor. The wait was pretty long too so that definitely didn't help. I like the concept but the food could be improved. read more

We waited about 45 minutes for seating. Everything was good! The food was good but the chili oil was the most exciting part! It tastes almost like xo sauce, it was very unique and delicious. My favorite dishes were popcorn chicken, chili walnut shrimp, and the Mapo Tofu Chips and Dips. The braised beef noodle soup was okay. I love that there were options for vegetarians. read more
