Deep Fried Taro Dumplings
Melody C.

Very popular for weekend brunch, so be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. Decent dim sum selection with very fast service. I expected higher food quality for the price they charge. Portion sizes are very small. There is also a mandatory 18% service fee for parties of all sizes. The vibes are nice especially when you sit outside. Expect to spend 40+ per person to be full.

Location is really nice for banquets and events..walked by and wondered ..then I got ticket to political event ..served restaurant standard Chinese food like lo mein walnut shrimp ha gow etc ..nice event space near embarcadero

entrance is confusing. there's only one main entrance and that's at STREET LEVEL. they will direct you to go upstairs after, but you have to check in here first. the bar also has a separate entrance (2nd floor), maybe lesser known, but that's only for the bar side, not regular restaurant. they also have a takeout side, just during lunch hours 11:30a - 1:30p 4 days a week. Great food and I love that their happy hour is 4-7pm goes pretty late, only available at the bar. I checked in and said im walking in here for happy hour. the host said ok happy hour and asked me do I want to sit inside at a table or at the bar? I'm thinking "o, I thought for happy hour I must be seated only at the bar, ok lets get a table instead then, maybe more comfortable." Got settled down and seated in the main dining room which was super loud. another server comes and I ask about happy hour menu and he said no that's at the bar only. so why were we ushered to this table? so I got out of that room and went to find myself a seat at the bar instead. bar is much quieter which is nice and more relaxing. for happy hour the ha gow and siu mai is about $1-2 off. coffee lava bun is good, gooey coffee filling inside and perfectly baked bun outside! 18% gratuity auto added onto all bills big beautiful space, especially outdoors with the ferry building view the cod is incredible. about $56 for half size and $100 for large size.

Awesome food! So yummy! 3 treasures was so flavorful! Buddha's delight veg dumplings was mouth watering.. Ambiance was good, it was full and buzzing, servers were helpful and funny ! It was disappointing the outside area was closed for the night. Was hoping to get a view of the outside. Overall wonderful experience for a date night and anniversary dinner!

Worst dining experience in recent memory. We visited on New Year's Eve, so I'll give some grace for the holiday rush -- but the service was nearly impossible to get, and what we did receive was underwhelming at best. The food was overpriced for what it was. Mediocre quality, nothing memorable. My suspicion is that the restaurant is simply too large to maintain any consistency -- when a place scales that big, quality is usually the first thing to go, and Harbor View is proof of that. Save your money and your New Year's Eve. There are far better options in SF.

Baked Black Cod!

Service was incredible. Traditional Chinese Dim Sum Service and they seated us at the patio with shade in a very sunny day. All the servers were very friendly and took our order promptly. The vibe is upscale but also pretty approachable due to the shared nature of the meals. My favorite dish was the baked black cod omg so yummy. Also the crispy pork had an amazing mustard sauce.

Baked black cod

Harborview has a couple of outstanding dishes: the baked black cod is one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. It's very similar to a baked sea bass dish that used to be at Riverside on Vicente that I had once but then never found again. It has a delicious outer glaze and the cod is delicate and flaky beneath. We got the small for 4 people, and it was plenty big enough. The baked pork buns are also really good and unique: they have a sweet crispy top and the dough of the bun is thin and chewy. They also do the classics well: we got the braised pea sprouts and the scrambled egg and shrimp chow fun and both were really good versions of them. The ambiance and location is also nice: there is indeed a view of the Harbor.

The Baked BBQ Pork Buns were pretty good and very tasty, with a crispy, flaky exterior. The shrimp dumplings were also delicious. The pork ribs were tender, but the congee with sliced beef was very bland and tasted completely different from what I've had in Guangdong and Hong Kong, so I would not recommend it. The service was also disappointing. The staff was not attentive or timely; we had to refill our own tea and clean up the table ourselves, yet an 18% service charge was automatically added. On top of that, the utensils were not cleaned properly and had greasy stains. Overall, some dishes were good, but the service and cleanliness really need improvement.

Nam Yu roast chicken 2/26/26

Festive evening to welcome the year of the Fiery horse with a great view of the Bay bridge and Ferry Building. Food was exceptional and our favorites were the nam yu roast chicken with crispy skin, moist chicken meat and even more tasty dipped in the nam yu sauce. The 8 treasure duck was also delicious stuffed with 8 items such as chestnuts, beans, rice etc. Overall, the food was exceptional and came at a nice pace. Plates were changed when needed. Staff were attentive and efficient. A great place to celebrate Chinese New Year!

Roasted Peking Duck 北京片皮鴨

Attended a dinner with around 10 people and went all out with food and drinks. Paid around 60$ per person for family style dim sum but left very satisfied. Got around 8 dishes plus tea. Amazing view of the piers, definitely a romantic date night spot. The duck was perfection! And everything was fresh and not oily. The sauces and flavors were subtle but delicious. Yummy!

Vicky J.

Great for large parties - esp since they take reservations! We had a party of twelve come in and we split a private room with another table of 12. Service was very fast and all the items were so delicious! Favorite eats were: beef chow fun, pork buns, salty egg yolk buns, the eggplants, green beans, and Peking duck! Any of their dimsum items like hargow and siu mai were also top tier. There's a standard tea they serve but you can also ask for other kinds.

Artificial Intelligence, Natural Noise We attended a private dinner and AI panel discussion here, hosted by a large tech company. We hadn't been to Harborview before and were initially impressed by the size of the restaurant and the number of private event spaces. The restaurant was full, which seemed promising at first. Our event was held in the Shanghai Room -- a smaller space with two very large round tables squeezed in, seating about 12 each. It felt tight. The panel setup included three speakers sharing one microphone, and unfortunately the main door to the room was broken. Because the room sits just off the bar, noise from guests, staff, and food service made it extremely difficult to hear the discussion. For a presentation or networking-focused event, the acoustics and layout simply didn't work. The food was nicely presented and served family-style, but overall the taste was just okay. Service was mixed. Although dietary restrictions had been shared in advance, I was met with visible frustration when I mentioned I don't eat seafood. It may have been a coordination issue with the host, but as a guest it felt uncomfortable. With a group of 25-30 people and multiple dietary needs at our table alone, providing menus or table cards outlining the dishes would have been helpful. Overall, while the space may work for purely social gatherings, I wouldn't recommend it for a corporate event involving presentations or structured networking. It wasn't an experience we'd likely repeat.

Coffee cream, unique and so good. You get three.
Andrew A.

I'm in the minority, but I can't really taste the difference between good and great dim sum (and I have not experienced any "bad" ones.) Where they differ is on variety and service. There were a few unique offerings like coffee cream filled mini buns that were scrumptious. Service: stoic per usual. So yes, the dim sum is delicious, but no big difference from many other venues.

This portion of beef and snap peas is for 11 people.

The staff were friendly and super prompt about clearing empty plates and refilling our tea whenever we signaled it was done, which is always great as the dishes just get on coming! We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and several really stood out. The spicy tendon was fantastic, shredded paper thin and swimming in a classic spicy sauce. The spicy lamb dumplings were another highlight, with an incredibly thin wrapper and a super flavorful and not gamey at all lamb filling. I also loved the stir fried rice cakes, which were sliced thin enough to avoid that overly chewy texture, and the stir fried noodles Shanghai style were classic and simple in the best way, with big chunks of cabbage and meat and just executed really (the chefs clearly have some serious wok skills!). Not everything we ordered was an absolute knockout as the vegetable dishes could use a bit more flavor and seasoning, but everything overall was good, and the portions across the board were very generous. The desserts were a last-minute decision and I am so glad we went for them. The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

Stopped by Palette Tea House with The Kid after FoodieLand thinking we were just coming for tea... and ended up having a full experience. We sat at the communal high-top table in the center of the restaurant, which has a small pond built into it with little goldfish and even a tiny rubber duck sitting on the rock formation -- such a cute detail and definitely adds to the ambiance. Our server Ken was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended the Iron Goddess tea, which ended up being excellent. The Kid ordered the Milk Aroma Oolong, which surprisingly tasted almost like milk tea even though it's just brewed tea. Each tea comes with its own kettle, and Ken even came back to refill the hot water for us. For food, we ordered the Wagyu Beef Fried Rice, which was a huge portion and easily shareable. Very flavorful and well prepared. We also tried the Sichuan Seafood Dumplings and the Iberico Pork Dumplings, both of which were delicious. One order is definitely enough to share. The dumplings come with several dipping sauces including soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil, hot mustard, and a cilantro-based sauce that had a slightly sweet, horseradish-like flavor that really stood out. I walked into the restaurant about 45 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM and several other diners came in after I was seated. The unsettled weather made the people hungry for dumplings. Bao is warm and woody and serene on the inside, a great counterpoint to the bustle of Valencia at every hour. Upon entering there is a large window looking on to the kitchen prep area where culinary experts are often at work constructing the food diners later enjoy on their plates. Tonight a couple of wizards were in the process of making chicken potstickers. Even being vegetarian, just seeing how the dumplings and other items are made is like seeing secrets being shared. I love it and it sets the vibe for the restaurant. My order consisted of the steamed vegetarian buns and sautéed string beans. The buns come out beautifully presented and taste even better: the bun itself is just slightly sweet and that sweetness adds an amazing dimension to the chopped fresh vegetables inside. Can't tell you what any of these veggies are individually and I don't care, they are so good. Next came the sautéed string beans and the sear on the beans themselves was perfect and smoky and delicious. The crispness of the sautee makes the string beans a lovely pairing with the soft yummy of the steamed buns. Last came the sesame balls as a sweet meal ending. I love donuts and fresh-made sesame balls are similar to a donut hole just with a filling that is actually food and so sweetly tasty. The outer fry was crisp and the insides absolutely perfect. Quick and tasty spot. Came here to split a siu mai while waiting for my order from another spot…read more The cashier was super friendly and the food came out quickly. Heads up that this is mostly a takeaway spot and they only have 1-2 small tables. The siu mai was fairly big and I liked that the order came with a bunch of sauces- chili oil, soy sauce, and a hot sauce. As a big sauce fan, I appreciated the selection! I'll be back to try most of their selection.

I've only ordered dim sum from here through Too Good to Go (2g2g). Like their Chinatown location,…read moreI find the dim sum to be oily. But overall, it's good. The baked bbq pork buns are sweet with a decent amount of filling. The deep fried dumpling is plump, juicy, and crunchy. The shrimp and chive dumplings are my favorite. It's full of shrimp with a slightly thicker skin, which I think adds a nice chewiness. The veggie egg rolls were okay. I personally wouldn't order those, even if I was craving them. The spare ribs had a really nice savory flavor from the sauce. The egg tarts were okay. I need to note that these bags are leftovers from the day, so they're not as fresh. But they held up the next day so I was able to stretch 2 meals out of them. I can't comment on service since these bags are only for pick up. But they quickly provide the bags once the window open. And it's a small space, with maybe 2 tables. So this place is probably best for to-go orders. Their 2g2g bags have more variety than their Chinatown location. Not sure how many dim sum options there are in the Mission, but I would go here if I was in the area and craving a shrimp and chive dumpling.
