Small take-out only dim sum in Chinatown that I keep coming back to. Their food is cheap (like most other joints in the neighborhood, but still worth mentioning), tastes good and service is quick. Throughout the years they have modernized a bit, so now you have a digital menu where you can order everything and pay on the screen. Just pay attention to the order call. If you have any questions, beware that their english is very limited. I recommend their 03. Steamed BBQ Pork Bun and Siu Mai (19. Steamed Beef Siu Mai is my go to).

Out of the hand full of SF dim sum spots we've hit up so far over the years, this is hands down our new fave. It was great to have almost the whole fam to chow down since we love to order a variety of things. But, even if that weren't the case and there were just you, this spot actually has single order items! Not only that but they are the most up to date in town it seems. There's a kiosk to place your order and pay. Language barrier not so much an issue anymore. The selection and quality was amazing. We noticed the fried items weren't as oily as other places. We thoroughly enjoyed every single item we got. 4 pcs bbq pork bun, order of turnip cake, order of fried mochi ball with pork, one order pork siu Mai, one order beef siu Mai, 2 orders black bean sesame balls, salted egg bun, XLB and rice cake. I think she gave the rice cake, I can't remember. Packaged very neatly and even included sauce, napkins and chop sticks in a smaller bag. I'm used to the not so cheerful auntys just throwing me a container and scoffing or something. But the service here wasn't that at all. Prices comparable to most dim sum in the area... Anytime we are in SF, this is the new top spot!

To Go/ Pick up only If you tired of living of ramen, then I highly recommend you to visit this place, service for this place is pretty good, it's Tiny place but food is great and service not perfect but considering how pact it always is it's close to perfect, always helpful and lots of patience for people who is not used and custom to their style of cooking. It's affordable and delicious

our go to dim sum spot in china town. we came pretty late into the day and the dumplings were delicious. the dough on the har gow was perfection. i was worried they were going to be on the dryer side since we came so late but i could be convinced they were freshly made!! price is a steal for the quality you get!

Great portions and size for Dim Sum to go!! My favorite is the chicken sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf. That rice was cooked to perfection. I had to come back and buy 2 more to go! The pork bun was massive and so tasty. The shrimp hai Gao was perfect.

Came on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy. Took about 3 minutes to order but the inside is pretty small so had to wait outside. Waited around 10 minutes. As for the food, the price is SO affordable for what you get! It's really bang for your buck when you want to go dim sum. On top of that, it was pretty good. Would come back again!

Came here again while I was in Chinatown and yup, the Dim Sum still so fire here. I placed an order online because there's always a line here. But once I got there, I just asked one of the aunties and they handed me a pink bag. I got the basics: Har Gow, Siu Mai, and the Pork Bun. I enjoyed everything, but the Pork Bun was my bestie for a few minutes before it was devoured. Can't wait for my future visit!

We are so glad we stopped by here during our visit to Chinatown. We thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience, include. In case you are wondering, yes, they are very patient with non-Chinese speakers (or even people like me who attempt non-sensical broken Chinese). This is a spot where you take your dim sum to go. There is no dine-in option available, and it is a very small spot. There's enough room to order and enough room for one or two people to wait for their food (especially if there's a line). They have everything you can ask for from a dim sum shop, the selection is quite large, especially for such a small sized shop. Also, we came pretty late (around 11am), and they still had everything available. The prices are reasonable / good compared to the South Bay area (and all other parts of San Francisco). Their dim sum is decent sized, and most importantly, the taste and quality are fantastic. We basically ordered about 10 different items of all sorts, and all of it was delicious. They even have pork noodles / pork crepe noodles, which I haven't seen before (beef, shrimp, BBQ pork are the options I typically see). They also offer frozen dim sum in pretty much any of the options they sell which is great. We proceeded to over order to take a bunch home with us. We got to a point the lady was worried and asked us if we wanted to cut down our order since this would be way too much food for us (I appreciate her honesty). We ordered so much, she added dessert and some egg rolls for free to our order. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and get some food to go from here. Eat it later at home, or take it to your favorite spot and enjoy!

Once you enter, you can order using the kiosk or wait to order with the worker. The staff are very patient, but they're all about efficiency. It's a small and cozy place with no indoor seating so we just ate our food at the nearby park with benches that's above the Portsmouth Square parking garage. The expansive menu, portion sizes, and price are unbeatable!! My favorites were the BBQ pork bun, shu mai, and deep fried pork puff. I just wish the shrimp and beef rice noodles contained more meat because it was 80% noodles.

This is my second post on Dim Sum Bistro and I just have to say, this "hole in the wall" still does not disappoint! We went in for some takeout, such an easy process and left with some tried and true items such as steamed chicken sticky rice, pork and shrimp siu mai, chinese tamales, baked bbq pork buns and more! This place is very authentic for Chinese dim sum and the portions you buy are very generous. You won't be disappointed! Just be aware the sweet Chinese ladies behind the counter are not well versed in English.

Dim Sum Bistro in Chinatown San Francisco was must stop when waking around exploring. We popped in and ordered on their touch screen kiosk inside. Very easy to order, no seating inside. Today we tried the baked BBQ pork bun 4/5, steamed plain bun 5/5 and the pan-fried pork pot stickers 5/5. Delicious snack and would go back again for some dim sum.

Came here for a quick bite and got a steamed bbq pork bun. The portion was big for the price ($1.95) and had good flavor, but I've definitely had better.

The staff were friendly and super prompt about clearing empty plates and refilling our tea whenever we signaled it was done, which is always great as the dishes just get on coming! We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and several really stood out. The spicy tendon was fantastic, shredded paper thin and swimming in a classic spicy sauce. The spicy lamb dumplings were another highlight, with an incredibly thin wrapper and a super flavorful and not gamey at all lamb filling. I also loved the stir fried rice cakes, which were sliced thin enough to avoid that overly chewy texture, and the stir fried noodles Shanghai style were classic and simple in the best way, with big chunks of cabbage and meat and just executed really (the chefs clearly have some serious wok skills!). Not everything we ordered was an absolute knockout as the vegetable dishes could use a bit more flavor and seasoning, but everything overall was good, and the portions across the board were very generous. The desserts were a last-minute decision and I am so glad we went for them. The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

I walked into the restaurant about 45 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM and several other diners came in after I was seated. The unsettled weather made the people hungry for dumplings. Bao is warm and woody and serene on the inside, a great counterpoint to the bustle of Valencia at every hour. Upon entering there is a large window looking on to the kitchen prep area where culinary experts are often at work constructing the food diners later enjoy on their plates. Tonight a couple of wizards were in the process of making chicken potstickers. Even being vegetarian, just seeing how the dumplings and other items are made is like seeing secrets being shared. I love it and it sets the vibe for the restaurant. My order consisted of the steamed vegetarian buns and sautéed string beans. The buns come out beautifully presented and taste even better: the bun itself is just slightly sweet and that sweetness adds an amazing dimension to the chopped fresh vegetables inside. Can't tell you what any of these veggies are individually and I don't care, they are so good. Next came the sautéed string beans and the sear on the beans themselves was perfect and smoky and delicious. The crispness of the sautee makes the string beans a lovely pairing with the soft yummy of the steamed buns. Last came the sesame balls as a sweet meal ending. I love donuts and fresh-made sesame balls are similar to a donut hole just with a filling that is actually food and so sweetly tasty. The outer fry was crisp and the insides absolutely perfect. Three dishes, all fantastic, and I walk home happy and thankful to Bao for a great simple meal!

The spare ribs had a really nice savory flavor from the sauce. The egg tarts were okay. I need to note that these bags are leftovers from the day, so they're not as fresh. But they held up the next day so I was able to stretch 2 meals out of them. I can't comment on service since these bags are only for pick up. But they quickly provide the bags once the window open.
