The food was really good! Our group ordered family style: We had su mai, haw gow , rib eye chow fun, Peking duck, short ribs and dau, mu. Everything was delicious and tasty

Came here for Mother's Day. Good thing we had a reservation, the place was jam packed. It is not a big place to start with. This is not a place where dimsum comes in a cart and you can just point and get what you see. You need to order them. It's quite pricey but the ingredients feel fresh. The shrimp, scallops and fish taste like good quality so I don't feel bad for the $36 house special noodle. Service was excellent. Writers were attentive through out and very polite. I don't mind coming back here to try their regular menu if I were in SF, but I don't feel that I want to drive there just to go to this place.

Decent food that I mostly enjoyed. It was a bit like other chinese dumpling places but better. We ordered 5 items none of then stood out as amazing but all tasted good. Nothing unique really but all had tasty flavor, correct temp and the right seasoning. Service was good snd so was ambiance a bit tighter but cute. a classic spot that gave me a timeless feel.

Phenomenal. I may have been swayed by the Michelin 2025 plaque posted up front but this place tasted so amazing that we had to come back twice and may be back again! FYI - There are 2 menus - #1.breakfast/lunch and #2. dinner. We had the congee and pot stickers for lunch. The congee was the best my wife ever had, she says. The potstickers were clean , non oily and perfectly crispy. Even the chili sauce was incredible - tad sweet, spicy and interestingly smokey. For dinner we had the imperial seafood bisque, seafood mapo tofu, and the honey glazed bbq Berkshire pork belly. The seafood bisque surprisingly had so much seafood in it with shrimp, fish and more. Very tasty. The mapo tofu usually has pork, but here it was packed with seafood instead. It was spiked with szechuan peppers that gives the numbing feeling. Not a fan of the feeling so it wasn't my fav but it was like a 7/10. The berkshire pork belly was super interesting. It was sweet, gelatenous, thick and had a chocolate like flavor. Idk how but the chocolate works. It made the dish almost taste like a dessert. Theres far more dishes I'd love to try and I'll definitely be back for more.

The dim sum here was pretty good. Every dish was prepared well and tasted fresh. I'm not sure why the restaurant's ratings are so high though. While the food was fine, the prices were exorbitant, especially given the small portions. Perhaps the greatest offender was the $18 plate of black and pepper pork spare ribs. What we got were 8 little pieces of deep fried pork that were mostly just bones. The soup dumplings were very average. The wrapper was too thick and the meat filling wasn't terribly flavorful. The lotus-wrapped sticky rice was also very average. The small piece of pork in the middle was tasty, but the sticky rice lacked any real fragrance or flavor. The truffle salt shrimp toast was our favorite dish. Service was great - attentive and friendly . The restaurant is very small inside and can get quite noisy. The location is strange, in a non-descript, somewhat dodgy part of Soma.

Traditional Cantonese "basic" dimsum selection but the prices for the dimsum are more than double and noodle dishes 50% more than that of even the high end dimsum houses that cater to the demanding Chinese community. Service was VERY attentive in a more relaxed setting and taste was decent, but nothing was particularly haute or had better ingredients as one would expect at these price points. Good place if you live in the SOMA area and not wanting to travel to one of the large popular dimsum houses. But being a SF native and Chinese foodie, nothing stood out enough to justify these high prices for basic food and ambience. I was a regular at the old HK Lounge Bistro at its original Richmond district location before the building burned pre-pandemic. Menu and decor are similar but prices are now exorbitant for what you get.

James W.

You can't deny that the quality here is amazing, but the prices for the dim sum really have you second-guessing life choices. We ordered 7 dishes among 3 people and for the total to come out to $60+ per person is insane, especially when a fried rice costs $30 and the tea wasn't complementary. The space itself is quite small with tight seating. You'll need to wait for a spot, which can take a while, but it's nice that they don't rush you to leave. You order off a menu and put check marks next to items you want.

I'm telling all my friends & family about this place. HK Lounge Bistto serves excellent dim sum and chef's specialty dishes all around. The only downside is the location of the restaurant since it's in SoMa - not my favorite neighborhood in SF to walk around in and the parking situation isn't great, but the food is well worth it. All the dishes we ordered were great (hot, fresh, less oily than other dim sum restaurants) and came out quickly! My personal favorite was the coffee glazed baby back pork ribs - such a unique, multi-dimensional, and well-executed dish - HIGHLY recommend. We also liked the crab meat egg noodle. HK Lounge Bistro is my new favorite dim sum restaurant in the Bay Area.

Hands down, the best dim sum in SF. Everything we ate was top quality (but standouts were the glutinous rice & chicken dumplings, duck and peanut dumpling, bbq pork noodle roll, and black sesame ball dessert). Seriously, there wasn't a single dish that was just ok. I can't wait to come back and try some of the noodle dishes. Service was fast and friendly. We got there 30 min before closing at lunch, and we still had time to put in 3 batches of orders. lol Yes, it's more expensive than other dim sum options. But let's recognize why prices are higher - increased labor costs and rent. Don't fault a restaurant for trying to survive in SF.

Mike S.

The best dim sum I've ever had! And that's saying a lot considering I used to eat dim sum weekly. The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive, and constantly made sure we had what we needed. We ordered everything from the Shu Mai and shrimp dumplings to less traditional items like coffee glazed ribs and chive and shrimp pan fried dumplings. Everything was fantastic. The best way I can describe HK Bistro Lounge is traditional dim sum elevated. Compared to other trendy dim sum places, HK is miles ahead. Even the sesame balls tasted better than other restaurants, maybe because of the dough they used, or maybe the process of frying them... Regardless amazing. The pan fried chive and shrimp dumplings had an incredible flavor and crispiness and nothing there tasted oily. The other standout was the baked pork bao...wow! The dough was so good, with a hint of sweetness and the pork inside had excellent flavor. We wanted to order another serving, but we're stuffed. I would recommend making reservations, and do not sleep on HK Bistro Lounge... Some of the best dim sum out there, especially in a city that is known for their great Chinese food.

Allister D.

This is a great Chinese restaurant for some comfort authentic cuisine with traditional dim sum. The place is clean and spotless, waiters are quick and very professional. They constantly keep an eye out on everyone's table. The food takes time because it's prepare from scratch and comes out hot and fresh. We ordered their house combo noodle which was topped with chicken, beef, bok choy, mushrooms, shrimp and some scallops. The noodles are crispy but once it's mixed all together with the sauce, it enhances the flavor and textures. This dish is tasty but I think I'd rather order their beef chow fun for next time. The siu mai and chive pan fried dumplings were both delicious and paired great with their chili. The fried chicken is phenomenal; it's crispy with a nice outer coating of crunchy garlic and breading. This would go great with fried rice. I also love their green beans! It's dry fried and has this fishy but sweet chili taste to it. This is a must try! Parking is very tough around here so be prepared for that especially with heave construction. I'd definitely recommend coming around lunch time for better parking, a quieter setting, and more attention on your table. This place has been featured in many food blogs and earned lots of praise from high ranking articles. It's worth coming for sure. We'll be back for more!

While at ucsf, found my new fav bbq place via DoorDash. Loved their Peking duck! The roast pig unfortunately was 80% fat, but super tasty and when I complained the next time I ordered, they made the next order perfect and lean. Food is always fresh and tasty.

Came here for my partner's birthday and what an experience! Good - The service is really good - this is the first place that serves you XLB onto your spoon - Nice staff, let us celebrate his birthday and gave us a sparkler - Great food, I liked the honey walnut prawns, the fried noodles, the Tamago tofu a lot - Cozy homey ambiance. - Decently priced for 6 people! Good value Bad - The table wasn't ready until 15 min after the reservation time Overall this was such a good experience I'd come again!

Now let's talk about the food!! For dinner, we ordered the honey walnut chicken, broccoli beef, 606 house fried rice, and the pork dumplings. The walnut chicken came with halved walnuts and had a nice honey glaze to it that made it sweet but not overly sweet. For the broccoli beef, the broccoli was nicely cooked and the meat was very tender. We really enjoyed the 606 house fried rice. It wasn't overly fried like most places and felt fresh. The mixture of proteins was also tasteful. Now for the pork dumplings, the presentation was nice and also tasted great with nice hints of shrimp. We noticed the place became very busy but the service was still attentive. I recommend getting a reservation for larger parties or if you visit during peak hours. We aren't local or else this would be a regular place for us.

"Everything!" That's all one needs to say. At the entrance, clearly marked are signs reading, "Reservations" and "Walk-ins". Since we had reservations, we waited only a few minutes to get seated at the bar. The bar makes it easy to converse with your partner and to peer over as the fire from the range springs up from the kitchen. Our server brought us some "Free Bites" of roasted peanuts and smashed cucumbers. She was such a pleasant lady with quite the wit that made me laugh between courses. We ordered a full bottle of Negori sake. Note: if you do not finish the sake bottle, they cannot pack it to go for you, so drink up! Obviously, we couldn't order everything on the menu. For our first visit, we definitely wanted their special dish, Fried Squab. It was delicious! The meat was moist and the dipping salt with Sichuan peppercorn paired perfectly! Just don't focus too much on the visual... the head and claws. Hot Mustard Jellyfish Salad ~ I loved the "crunch" of the jellyfish and the hot mustard marinade was just spicy enough to start a slow burn up the nose. Beef Chow Fun Noodles ~ Delicious and so very savory. I was amazed at how flavorful this dish was without being salty. Clay Pot Rice w/Chinese Sausage & Bacon ~ Loved how the entire pot was seasoned nicely. The sauce did not only sit at the top, but penetrated deep down into the rice. XO Escargot w/Milkbread ~ I've only had French Escargot and these are just as good, if not better! Fish Fragrant Eggplant ~ Another savory and very umami dish. Red Bean Shaved Ice ~ Always a refreshing dessert. Dig in for the surprise in the center. We had such a nice, cozy dinner here. Even while at the bar, we never felt for lack of space. They paced the dishes out perfectly, so there was always room to eat and enjoy. Looking forward to returning and trying more items on the menu.

The duck was chopped, served bone-on, so fingers were necessary to pull apart the meat. Likewise, the lobster was served in pieces and I believe was meant to be cracked although the claw meat was terribly difficult, dare I say painful. to reach. Yes. Eat here. 30…read moreminutes before closing is kind of an A-hole move, but we did it anyway because I guess we are A-holes. Hungry A-holes...with rapidly diminishing choices. And there was parking in front. Service with smiles and no side eye. Thank you I appreciated that. Deboned duck for an extra couple bucks? Oh yes. It's a whole other experience when you don't have to deal with the bones. Rice, gai lan and bun to round it out. Yum. 1/2 duck with sides is about right for 3. On to the ambiance- dark blue walls, dark wood and metal furniture, pretty red Chinese lanterns, and pretty serving ware. Bummer there isn't a patio but you can't have everything. Then we got the bill and I was happy to see that the 'healthy sf' tax wasn't separated out. I find that practice irritating as to me it implies there is something wrong with paying for employee healthcare. I support a healthcare tax the same way I support California gas taxes for transportation and environmental programs. It costs more to do the right thing. At the moment I envy all of those states that are upset about paying $3 a gallon but that's a whole other diatribe.... Finally the restaurant's pay point figures your suggested tip based on the pretax. I think that's the first time I've seen that and thank you! I hope this will start a new trend. In sum... YES. Eat here. It's good.

Food is just ok but I can get the same thing a few blocks away for 1/3 the price…read more In my opinion bone-in duck is better than deboned duck.
