Ollei does exactly what it sets out to do. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a solid neighborhood spot with standard Korean bar food, a lively atmosphere, and straightforward, no-frills service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We stopped in after the Valkyries game based on the reviews, and it matched expectations. We ordered the seafood pancake, the half-and-half chicken wings, and the spicy pork belly. Portions were generous and easily enough food for three to four people. Banchan were negligible. One thing that stood out was how sweet many of the dishes were. If you're coming in expecting bold heat, just know the flavors lean noticeably sweeter than the menu descriptions might suggest. Overall, it was a perfectly decent meal at a fair price in a convenient part of Polk Street. I'd be happy to come back if I were in the area, though it probably wouldn't be my first choice if I were specifically craving Korean food.
We ended up eating at Ollei because of proximity. The streets were a bit chaotic, and parking was a challenge, but this Korean restaurant wasn't a far walk from us. We stepped inside to put our names on the list. While we waited outside we checked out their menu, which was conveniently displayed on their window. The dishes sounded great and it helped us decide what to order before we were even seated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was on the smaller side, so seating was a tad cramped, but overall it felt cozy. They had a cute neon light with their name.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got a couple appetizers, which included the pan fried dumplings and tteokbokki. I ordered the Spicy Japchae for my main dish. They brought the banchan out pretty quickly, which we all devoured in seconds because we were so hungry. Then our main dishes started coming out of the kitchen. My spicy japchae was just the right amount of heat. Spicy enough to still be enjoyable. While eating our main dishes the pan fried dumplings came out, which was odd since we ordered it as an appetizer. And the tteokbokki we had ordered, never was added to our order by our waiter. After being told that by another waiter, we just decided to cancel it. The meal was pretty filling without feeling too heavy. Overall, it was decent.
Again, love the seafood pancake and the tofu soup is among the tastiest I have encountered in sf. Definitely a bit slower-moving on a Sunday night (I think there were a lot of takeout orders and limited staff) but still busy & tasty.
The service is great and the servers are awesome. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is really loud so if you're expecting a quiet place to sit down, do not go here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have MVs projecting on the wall too so that adds to the noise.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As for the food, everything is great! The pajeon is flavorful, light and crispy. It had a lot of kimchi so that was yum. The army stew was not too salty and warmed us up! The soy garlic chicken was not overly sweet and was crispy too. The spicy pork was good but there were a few pieces that was chewy. It wasn't that spicy though but it still tasted good. The creamy pasta and tteok was good too and lived up to its name. I did find that the tteok was chewier than normally, but my partner said it was fine so to each their own. Will probably come back for a third visit!
Seafood pancake - the batter is a bit dense, wish there was more seafood filling but otherwise pretty solid but quite heavy Boneless chicken w sour garlic sauce - sauce is a bit salty and tasted more like a soy glaze than garlic sauce Staff friendly but there is a bit of a wait for food to come out. Do you remember the TRL days when you could watch the daily countdown for Top 10 Music Videos? Now imagine that but the K-Pop edition. [[HIGHLIGHT]]With popular K-Pop music videos projected along the wall and the music playing in the background. Definitely an eye catcher, my daughter was dancing along all night to her favorite songs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered too much according to the waiter, which is always my problem at Korean restaurants because I want to try everything. Tteokbokki 5/5: Absolutely loved because the sauce was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy for my certified spice lightweight palate. Corn cheese 5/5: eat it while it's fresh and hot so that you get that perfect cheese pull with your fork. Grilled pork belly 3/5: we got this because our daughter can't do spicy pork belly. And was kind of disappointed by this one because it was pretty dry and kinda lacking in flavor. Galbi 4/5: this was pretty flavorful so good when I added it with some ssamjang and wrapped in lettuce! Definitely coming back for a second take!
3.5 stars Ordered via Doordash. I don't remember if I picked the spicy level on the seafood tofu stew but it was pretty spicy, I usually get mild since you never know when Korean restaurants will add too much spice. It was still tolerable and pretty good. The pork belly bento box was on a special price on Doordash and they give you a lot of meat. The meat is a bit overdone so it is pretty stiff.
We were craving something warm late night after a show, stumbled upon Ollei. Hell yeaaaa for delicious food open late!!! Excellent choice for a cool autumn evening :3 Our group of 4 walked in on a Wednesday night, seated immediately. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Minimal decor but clean and tidy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff were courteous and very attentive. Moments after ordering, our dishes arrived. TTEOKBOKKI: Just a lil sweet and spicy :3 Cooked well, super QQ. SHORT RIB SOUP: Soup is for the soul :') I think this melted my icy heart. Richly flavorful while still light and silky. And they don't skimp on the short rib! I swear I was drooling the moment our server brought it over. Next time, itching to try their Seafood Pancake they're so popular for.
[[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant was busy on a Saturday night![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friends and I were able to join the Yelp waitlist beforehand so that we could be seated within five minutes when we arrived at the restaurant. We ordered three dishes for three people and had leftovers at the end. Seafod Pancake: This is one of the crispiest pancakes I've had in while, if not THE crispiest I've had in SF! The pancake was not overly greasy, and there was a good mix of shrimp and squid mixed into the pancake with a flavorful dipping sauce. Grilled Pork Belly: The pork belly was cooked well with a good balance of fat and meat, and the pieces were also cut thinly. Seafood Soup: Warm, spicy, and comforting. There was a good portion of seafod ingredients, and the broth had the right level of spice.
Came in after exploring San Francisco and Land's End. Our group wanted tteokbboki and we ordered it along with rice balls and fried chicken (boneless). Everything came out relatively quickly and was delicious. The rice balls were so delicious with the great sesame oil flavor and the chicken was perfectly fried. I loved that we could get half and half, with one sauce being spicy and one regular. The portions for the three dishes were perfect for our group of 3. The servers were also nice and I love that kpop was playing on the wall. I definitely recommend this place for a good Korean meal.

The mixture of flavors and texture profile is perfected by the dish being cooked just right with a light, crunchy batter. Savory and well-salted. The serving is very generous and also slightly pre-cut. I would have preferred for it to be more definitely cut to make it easier to distribute. 5/5 - Kimchi Fried Rice - Very impressed with this dish! Kimchi was well-infused into the rice and did not have overly strong flavors. Great to pair with other dishes you may order. The salad on the side was also a refreshing touch to the savory flavor of the rice. 4.5/5 - Cheese Corn - A bit small in serving but comes packed with flavor!! The cheese melted well over the corn, and overall the dish had a light sweetness that made this fun to eat! I would recommend eating this fast though, because the cheese once lukewarm breaks off in chunks rather than remaining stringy. 4.5/5 - Tteokbokki - Very generous portions of tteokbokki in their sauce. Rice cakes were chewy and appropriately cooked. I would have appreciated more fish cakes in the dish, as it felt quite out-proportioned by the tteokbokki compared to similar past tteokbokki dishes I have had. 4/5 - Beef Bulgogi - Sweet and mostly tender! The only recommendation I have is that some slices were a bit dry and could have been due to uneven flavor, but I would still order this dish again. 4.5/5 - Banchan - Kimchi and tofu were very fun to pick at and eat while waiting for the main dishes to arrive. My favorite of the four were the creamy sauced sprouts (top left in the picture).
I was around the area and was craving Korean food and found this spot open early afternoon. I came with a group of friends and we ordered many dishes and I enjoyed all of it especially the chicken wings, the seafood pancake, the galbi tang! The Bo ssam was good but I wish the pork was a little more tender. Overall a solid Korean spot in the area and the price is pretty good for the portions!
Great korean food, galbi was a standout, perfectly cooked and meaty. Soondubu was spicy and delicious. Seafood pancake was thick, great with the beer pitcher. Took a while to get seated and order, but it was a busy saturday night so makes sense. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dark vibes but fun lighting made the ambiance great for a late night meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will def be back!

I've been to Olleli a few times now, and each visit has been consistently comforting and delicious. It's one of those spots where the food feels like a warm hug...flavorful, hearty, and thoughtfully made. On my visits, I've tried several dishes and each one brought something special to the table. The seafood pancake was super crispy on the outside, generously filled, and surprisingly filling & it is perfect for sharing. The BBQ spare ribs were juicy, tender, and beautifully complemented by the fresh veggies and flavorful banchan that came with the meal. The short rib soup was a standout as it was deeply savory and warming to both the heart and stomach, especially on a cold day. When I came with a group, we also ordered the grilled mackerel, which was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, a simple dish done really well. Got a pork soft tofu soup and a seafood pancake to share. The banchan that they gave could've been better. Not the best I've had. The soondubu was somewhat grainy. Overall, it wasn't bad. Still comforting and warming on a cold day. The seafood pancake was good. Nice and crispy throughout. Not that much seafood in it though. I think there are better Korean restaurants in the city, but for the area, it's decent. read more

After most other restaurants on the block have closed, Ollei stays open for those craving a late-night, no-compromise dinner. Our server was the sweetest girl with impeccable eye makeup, who ensured we stayed satisfied with fresh napkins, water, and kimchi. She promptly brought utensils when our friends joined us, and helped us choose the perfect sauce for our wings. The wings were okay, could have been crispier. Everything else was perfect. read more

This is such yummy comfort food. I can imagine myself slurping up delicious soup here on a winter night. But...it's summer so we had the cold Kimchee soup with egg. It was tasty and weird and delightful at the same time while chilled with chunks of ice. Also the bimbap beef bowl. Service is great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The one star off is for the bathroom which is kinda dirty and has a big mop bucket.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I felt like I was using a gas station loo. Came here for dinner. The restaurant is spacious and has a quirky ambiance. The service was friendly and quick. The food was okay--we ordered the sunduboo (soft tofu soup), chicken wings, beef bibimbap, kimchi pancake, and the sweet rice drink. The best dish was the kimchi pancake! It was fluffy but had very crisp edges and were flavorful. Every other dish was mediocre. This would be good for a quick snack or maybe late night meal after bars! read more

3.5/5 My friend and I came on a Thursday around 6:30PM and got seated immediately. They do have a Yelp waitlist that you can do ahead of time too if there's a line. The staff were attentive and friendly! You have to scan a QR code to get the menu and we tried their: Ji Pyeong Makgeolli Chestnut - (3/5) Never have I ever tried chestnut makgeolli but it was refreshing but aftertaste kinda funky; I know this is just an alchohol brand so not reflective of the actual restaurant but just sharing what I tried! Spicy Pork Belly ($25) + Ssam ($4) - (3.5/5) This was super oily but meat was solid with the lettuce/garlic/jalepinos! Their portions for this was also good. Beef Brisket Soup (Yuk Gae Jang $22) - (2/5) I prefer a more flavorful soup and this one didn't taste like much; if you're someone who likes more clean broths, this could be it for you! Their banchan was kinda lacking and the kimchi was mid. I'd come back to try their other things though! read more

Great service! Can get a little loud but didn't feel rushed at all. The food was well portioned (think leftovers) and the smell was delicious as it was arriving! I was underwhelmed by the kimchi rice. Would skip that next time. But the spicy pork belly, boneless chicken and seafood pancake were all excellent and crowd pleasers! read more

Ollei is a hidden gem! The place is small so I can imagine limited setting when the place is busy. We were seated right away and given ban chan. I typically don't eat kimchi from ban chan but their kimchi was a game changer! It's different and nothing like i've had before. It was not watery or bland at all + the flavor was immaculate. We were given utensils but sadly the spoons were still dirty. They had food that had not been washed off. It was a little off putting. I ordered the corn cheese, fried chicken wings and spicy pork kimchi fried rice. The corn cheese was delicious and not greasy - especially with all the cheese! The chicken wings were more sweet than salty and the kimchi fried rice was sour. I loved everything and the quality of the food was top tier. read more
Our friends live in the neighborhood, so we thought to give this place a try. This was a late dinner at 10 pm, so there wasn't a wait or a line. Cute set up with modern decor and TV screens with K Pop playing in the background. We sat down and they gave us banchan dishes to start, while we looked at the menu by using the QR code on the table. OUR PICKS: 8 PIECE OLLEI CHICKEN WINGS (sauce on the side) ~ the chicken wings were good and sizable. It was crispy but I've had crispier. Though I wish the batter was fluffier and lighter in texture. 3.5/5 CORN CHEESE PLATE ~ buttery goodness with the sweetness of corn! 4/5 SPICY PORK BELLY ~ somewhat spicy, but meat was a bit lean and not as soft. Though it was quite oily that it went through our take out box! 3.5/5 BBQ SHORT RIBS ~ the fav dish out of all that we had. Wasn't too sweet, had a nice flavor and seasoned just right. 5/5 Over all, some dishes we liked more than others. But it's a fun spot to enjoy late night munchies with friends. Loved this new Korean find place in Russian hill . The food was 10/10 and service was fast . We ordered pork belly , glass noodle , sea food pancake and beef soup . Everything was so flavourful and portions were very generous. Will definitely be visiting again . read more
San Francisco, Polk Gulch. January 2025. Polk is a very walkable and interesting street and a new place to eat there is often worthwhile checking out. The Ollei is near Lord Stanley, just north of Broadway, on the edge of Russian Hill. They're across the street from a Bi-Rite Market. I wasn't expecting much but I found the place to be welcoming and the food familiar Korean comfort food. The difference is the simple modern vibe with K-Pop videos projected on one wall. Meals come with a quartet of simple quick banchan. The danmugi, aka takuan, is sweet pickled yellow strips of daikon radish. The oi muchim is a quick simple sweet and vinegary pickle of sliced cucumber rounds. The beachu kimchi is also slightly sweet. The eomuk, ribbons of Korean style fishcake, is painfully bland. They're only there as flavor changes of pace. I tried the beef dolsot bibimbap. It comes in one of those modern style bowls that will not properly put a charred crust on the rice, so don't get your hopes up. The bulgogi marinated beef is sweet and fulfills its role among the soy bean sprouts, horenso spinach, simmered daikon, julienned carrots, slice mushrooms. The biggest appeal to me was the availability of proper modern Korean soju made with rice - allowing me to skip the green bottle stuff. Good sool will always make a difference to me among Korean dining choices. Won Soju, a label produced by AOMG CEO Jay Park, was the best bottle I saw, and the price point was very good. This is Korean comfort food that will appeal to western tastes. Satisfying, filling, with not too much depth of heat or flavors. read more
Unpretentious entry way that is blacked out, so you could easily miss Ollei in the Russian Hill district, so make sure you pay attention. Arriving late afternoon on a weekend, there was only a group of patrons in the restaurant, so service was good. Orders: Tteok Bok Ki-Amazingly chewy & so satisfying for me, I've never had such great Tteok Bok Ki that this heightens my expectations when I go to other places. The sauce had a sweetness that was just enough to satisfy. Gal Bi Tang Short Rib Soup-2 beef short ribs, glass noodles & egg were included to make it such a wholesome flavorful soup. Date of Visit: 1/1/2025 Ollei is a Korean comfort food restaurant that opened back in May 2023. It was located on Polk Street with a variety of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. On the first day of the year 2025, we went to Mt. Tamalpais East Peak for a short hike, and enjoyed the view of downtown San Francisco and Pacific Ocean, and we headed back to the city for dinner. We checked the Yelp Waitlist that the wait was about 3-10min, so we didn't add our names beforehand. After we got to the restaurant, there were 2 empty tables and they were filled within 3 minutes. Luckily we got to sit right away. Draft Beer Pitcher We got a pitcher of sapporo, which went really well with mild spicy army soup! Ollei Rice Ball $6 There were three pieces of rice ball covered with seaweed flakes. The rice balls were very tasty with the crispy taste of seaweed as well as the savory sesame oil. Army Soup $38 We also got the army soup. There were two servings of ramen, cheese, beans, rice cake and vegetables, which is a great portion for 2 people. The soup was mild, which was great for people who don't eat too spicy food. read more
What a great addition to the food scene on Polk. Ollei offers all the classic Korean staples like pancakes, tteok bok ki, grilled meats, soups, tofu stews, noodles, and more. It doesn't hurt to make a dinner reservation whether small or large party to avoid the line which was present from 6:30-7:30PM on a Saturday. Staff are friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. Portions are large and best shared. Quality of food is amazing. All dishes were so flavorful and meats were so tender. We enjoyed every single dish we ordered, it's hard to pick a favorite. As a resident of the area, I will definitely be returning and sharing this place with all my friends and family. Cannot recommend this place enough! read more

Visited on a Thursday night for a late dinner with some of my friends. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was pretty busy inside with many takeout orders as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really loved the vibe of the place with the bright neon lights and music playing in the background.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started off with the kimchi pancakes and I was super impressed. It had the perfect amount of crispiness without being too oily and was very flavorful. I ordered the Cold Buckwheat Noodle soup and wasn't the biggest fan. I wished there was a bit more meat and the soup didn't have too much flavor. However, my friends ordered some other dishes like the chicken and tteokbokki and were raving about it. I definitely will be back to try some of their other dishes, Ollei is a solid spot when you are craving Korean food especially later at night! read more
