    scrambled tom yum prawn omelette
    Sarah C.

came early at 10am and there was no line! by the time we left there was one, so would recommend coming early. the vibes are nice, nice lighting and minimalist design. the staff are great and check in frequently! we tried the: - scrambled tom yum prawn omelette ($24): the tom yum flavor was delicious but the prawns were hard/ overcooked - fried chicken benedict ($22): loved this. the potatoes are great and crispy, and the chicken was crispy and juicy a nice thai spice - iced strawberry matcha latte ($8.50): strawberry puree was nice but the matcha ratio was too weak :(

Walked in at 12pm and was seated immediately. There was a big party next to us and thus the service for us sucked. No one came to greet us or give us water after we sat down for about 10 mins. We had to flag the waiters down and even then they didn't tend to us. When the waiter came to our table, she looked annoyed to even take our order. Food came out promptly. Presentation was pretty and taste was decent. Flavors were balanced. Interior decor & vibes were cute. No one refilled our waters once or asked how our food tasted. Was so excited to try a new brunch spot in sf but unfortunately very disappointed by the service. Not sure if I will want to come back...

On New Years, we got spa treatments around the Japantown area and went looking for a brunch place - that is how we stumbled upon Rise & Set! We got there around 10:45 am, parking was easy since it was a holiday - metered street parking just up the block. We had no reservation for our party of 3 but got seated right away. The aesthetic of the restaurant was so nice - so modern/sleek. I even noticed a table where people were working, so it was almost like a cafe vibe but full meals available. I personally ordered the chicken and croffle while my girlfriends ordered the fried chicken benedict and the tom yum chicken. We ordered one pandan french toast to share - a good call because it was super flavorful but would've been far too sweet for one of us to take on our own! With two matcha lattes, tip, and tax, our meal came out to just under $130 for the 3 of us. Definitely not a cheap breakfast place, but super tasty. Service was great - multiple servers checked in on us frequently and we never had an empty cup of water in front of us. If I am ever in the area, I would love to come back to try their other menu items!

The interior of this place is so beautiful! Loved the vibes. They have a fairly extensive brunch menu in my opinion and I ordered the tom yum pasta (super unique and something I haven't seen before!) I'll be honest, this was a good meal but personally I didn't love the sweet & sour flavor combination with pasta. I also thought the chicken would be mixed in, but it was served on the side. I also thought it was a bit pricey for the portion size. My friend loved her meal! She got a strawberry matcha but we could've skipped that as it was just okay. I would come back but to try something else on the menu :)

A hidden brunch gem on Polk!! This might be one of my new favorites. We came on a Sunday morning, and surprisingly it wasn't too crowded. We were able to get seated right away. Their menu is a unique Thai Australian fusion. Food was delicious. The aesthetics are nice with cozy brick walls, glowing lamps, and a plant patio. Even the dishes and silverware were gorgeous. Each dish was plated like art. I liked how the tea came in a double layer glass cup. Big Breakfast: 10/10 Certainly lives up to the name. I love a savory breakfast, and this hit the spot. It came with a wide variety of sides. The fried portabello mushroom and grilled halloumi cheese were my favorite. Really fresh, rich flavors. French Toast: 10/10 This was a life-changing French toast. Bread was buttery soft, and not too sweet. The caramelized banana had a perfect crispiness. Need to come back and try their Thai Tea toast since it was sold out when we got there. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Came on a weekday at noon for lunch. Was greeted, seated and order take. quickly. Food was fresh, made well, visually appetizing and quite yummy. Place was clean, spacious and well re-decorated. We enjoyed the overall experience and will be back.

The decor and vibe are really cute and cozy, but the tables are kinda close together, so it felt a bit cramped. Staff was super friendly, and our food came out fairly quick, tho we did show up before peak brunch hours. I got a Thai tea and it was fine, tasted just like it should. Everyone else in the group seemed to like their drinks too. For food, I ordered the Fried Chicken Benedict (sauce on the side), and it was delicious. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned, and the eggs had nice runny yolks. I didn't care much for the side salad, and they actually forgot my house potatoes at first, but once I asked, they brought them over. Texture was good, but they could've used more seasoning besides just salt. My friends said the waffles and pancakes were good, and the fruit was fresh. But a few people at our table got the pesto omelet, and it was a miss. :( According to them, it had a wet/watery texture that was pretty off-putting, even though the flavor was fine. Prices are a bit higher than other brunch spots, but I'd probably come back to try some other things on the menu. Worth checking out, just maybe skip the pesto omelet.

Shakshuka, crying tiger sandwich, tom yum noodles

We came here for brunch and were not disappointed. You're able to make reservations online and the ambiance is adorable! We were seated immediately after checking in and ordered: - Egg shakshuka - Tom yum crispy chicken noodles - Crying Tiger sandwich Everything was delicious! The noodles captured the tom yum flavor so accurately, definitely very flavorful. We also ordered the lycheeju and blood orange mimosa, which paired perfectly with brunch. The servers were so attentive and refilled our waters frequently and always checked in with us. Definitely recommend!

Relatively new to the brunch scene on Polk street, Rise and Set is a terrific contender for must try brunch spots in the city. A mix of modern and vintage, the interiors are beautiful. The dining experience feels high end while still being a brunch spot. The food arrived very fast, and service was great. I had their King Mushroom Tartine - 5/5 Breaded fried seasoned mushroom on top of a delicious sourdough with a charred crust, topped with a soft scrambled egg. Genuinely some of the better seasoned eggs I've had. Overall delectable.

Absolutely awful service! I came here on a Saturday afternoon with two other friends and we sat for at least 10 minutes before realizing no server was coming to take our order. All 3 of us raised our hands and waved at the servers just standing there to come to take our order, and they made eye contact with us but didn't come. We continued to wave for another 5 minutes and then they finally came and the waitress flatly asked what we wanted. I've never had such terrible service out of all the restaurants I've been to in SF. I got the florentine Benedict which was mediocre, with a side dish of crispy fries which were honestly shaped more like potatoes / large wedges. The fries were flavorful and crispy, the best part of the dish. I would definitely not come back here though due to the service.

7/20/25 - I've tried so many brunch places in SF already, but this place is now one of my favorites there! The dish I got was the tom yum pasta with chicken katsu and it was soooo good! I love how the pasta had the nice sweet and sour taste of tom yum soup and the chicken was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Their Thai tea wasn't too sweet too! Beautiful interior aesthetic as well! Will definitely need to try other dishes next time!

Great Ambiance for the neighborhood, fresh organic and vegan selections. They dont serve drip, so if you are in the mood for coffee expect to pay for each customized coffee. The Avo Smash was a fresh avocado sour dough toast adorned with radish, feta, herb crumble and a poached egg. They are strict with no substitutions. Servers were pleasant.

We went for the burgers, because it's one of their must try items on the menu. It's a Smashburger with gooey cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and this delicious deliciously soft tasty bun. Diners tip: the burger comes with onions, and we both asked for them to be grilled. This is definitely the way to go. The burger is very generous in size, snd delicious. Perfectly seasoned, well-made, and it is that taste sensation that we all crave when eating a burger.
