We went around 12:30pm on a weekend and were seated immediately. The roasted duck noodle soup (Chinese Thai) was great with a generous portion of duck that was very flavorful and on the saltier side. The funniest moment of the night was spotting their sign that said no refunds for food you don't like because it's too spicy or too rich. I appreciate the honesty, honestly. We ordered the Papaya Salad, Veg Spring Rolls, House Favorite Yellow Curry, Eggplant Basil, Pad Kee Mao, and White Rice. The Papaya Salad was a bit disappointing. It was overly sour and tasted more citrusy than fresh and lime-forward. The Veg Spring Rolls were fine, but nothing particularly memorable. The biggest letdown was the Yellow Curry. It lacked the rich flavor I typically expect from a Thai curry, and some of the vegetables seemed undercooked. The Eggplant Basil was also underwhelming. It lacked the distinct basil flavor that the dish is known for. I used to like this place but something's changed the food doesn't taste the same. Recently, I was there and asked for fish sauce with peppers, Prik Nam Pla, and the person didn't speak english, and said I have to buy it from them. My friend recommended this place after saying it had the best Khao Soi he's had! I thought this was really solid Thai food, but not the best that I've ever had. I would still come back though if I was ever craving some Thai food. Ben Thai Platter ($22): Everything on here was crispy and fried nicely. Nothing felt too oily at all. I really liked how there were 4 different sauces to dip the appetizers in too. Khao Soi Deluxe with Roasted Ox Tail ($26.50): The ox tail was so tender and I loved the flavor of the north. I do think it's a bit on the pricey side, but it was really tasty and the noodles were cooked well. Roasted Duck Curry ($23): The curry was good, but didn't feel super cohesive with the pineapple in it. The duck was on the leaner side and I felt like the skin wasn't as crispy as it could've been. There is a middle aged gent who seems to be the owner of the restaurant, and I think this individual does not put forward a good look for the restaurant as a whole. There was a delivery driver who came in asking if he could use the restroom in between the stops, and this man told him "yes, but don't make it dirty, if you make it dirty I block you" in a very rude and condescending tone. The food was ok but not amazing. Pad kee mao deviated from the authentic preparations I've had at countless other Thai establishments across the country. Not very much basil and no spicy flavor. Prawns were a little overcooked. Seemed like a very "Americanized" preparation which probably suits certain clientele but you are certainly not paying for authentic Thai food here. He also seemed to be in a huge rush to get us out the door even though he still had several open tables and no line of customers waiting. He basically came without warning as I was finishing up the meal and having a conversation with my girlfriend, slapped down the payment terminal, watched me as I was picking out tip options, and essentially grabbed the terminal out of my hand as soon as I selected a tip option. Very weird overall experience and unfortunately can't find anything worth returning for. Wings - was really looking forward to these and ended up disappointed because they tasted like the oil they were fried in with some garlic thrown on top. The flavor was on the surface and just fell right off the chicken. Crunchy but flavorless (except for the oil) no salt or pepper or anything. Roti came by itself , so had to add the peanut sauce. The peanut sauce saved this meal- legit the best thing we ordered. The roti was a little oily for my liking but the sauce was so good we added a second batch. Mains - pad Thai, rice and curry. The yellow curry chicken was good, average lots of veggies. Rice was with pork and unfortunately the meat was very tough I pushed most of it away. Pad Thai flavor wise was good but it just all clumped together into a ball like it was too stuck to each other. Overall nothing horrible about this place but also nothing special where I would want to come back (except for that peanut sauce). The restaurant can get crowded but we often go for a late lunch so it's not full. We usually order a bunch of appetizers. The money bag filled with curry meats and veggies, the fried spring rolls with meat and veggies, the murder wings, which are a must, the paradise wings which are sweet and savory. Very disappointing experience, especially considering the many positive reviews. There were six of us, and we arrived with about an hour remaining before the restaurant's lunch closing time. From the moment we came in, we were repeatedly told that this would be our last opportunity to order because they were closing. Being told once would have been completely understandable. Being reminded six or seven times, including again while we were eating, became extremely annoying and made us feel rushed and unwelcome. We ordered several dishes, including Pad Thai and chicken dishes. What surprised us most was that much of the food arrived literally within two or three minutes of ordering. We eat Thai food regularly and understand that many Thai dishes can be prepared quickly, but two or three minutes for several freshly prepared dishes seemed extraordinary. It gave us the strong impression that much of the food had already been prepared and was simply being served. Unfortunately, the quality matched that impression. The food was very basic and, at best, just okay. Our bill for six people came to around $180, including the added service charge, which made the experience even more disappointing. At that price, we expected considerably better food and certainly better hospitality. The location is convenient and the restaurant itself is pleasant enough, but those were the only positives for us. Between the mediocre food, extraordinarily fast service that did not feel freshly prepared, and the constant reminders that they were closing, this was easily one of the poorest dining experiences of our trip. The pineapple fried rice is one of the things on the menu I will never get tired of. It's consistently good and refreshing in its on way. The satay is pretty standard in a good way. It wasn't hard or chewy. A little bit or charredness would make it better but overall, it's good. The khao soi was also good. I just wish they would serve it hotter because it became cold very fast and it doesn't tastes good when it's cold. Summary: Strong Thai flavors, for better or worse Details: Those who've read my prior reviews probably won't be surprised by my feedback here, but while we found the portions here fairly generous, flavor wise, everything we had was on the too sweet/salty side. My friend loves their weekday lunch deal and we come here pretty often. We usually come around 1 pm and it isn't that busy when we come with our parties of 3 to 4. The interior is really inviting and bright from the wall of windows. There are a good amount of options to choose from that vary from curries to different meat options. Lunch Special (BBQ Chicken, Jasmine Rice) + Prawn Rolls - The portion is pretty big and filling. The chicken is soft and I love the light curry flavor. The rice texture is nice and it's cute that they always make it into a heart shape. We always add shrimp rolls every time and it's perfectly crunchy, a break from the rest of the flavors and textures. Sometimes, I also order the BBQ Pork which is similar in portion and more of a sweet flavor. We get Thai tea sometimes as well which is creamy with good strong tea. After a string of excellent food spots of SF, we were heavily disappointed when we came here for dinner. This spot seems to be loved by Yelp-ies so I am just convinced we were unlucky and literally ordered the worst items on the menu. They have drinks (we got the tropical sangria) - they tasted pretty cheap. I guess that's what you get for a drink under $15 in SF. The fresh rolls ($13.5) - I order these at almost every Thai spot I go to - and these are definitely the smallest, worst (and most expensive) I have had ever. Think - the worst parts of an iceberg lettuce head stuffed in wrappers, with a bit of shrimp. It was like chewing crunchy water. The pad see ew ($16.5) with chicken - my BF ordered this, took one bite and couldn't stomach it (said it was too fishy), but I actually thought this one was fine and inhaled the entire thing because I was starving. The food comes out quickly - almost too quickly. Looks like people rave about the Khao Soi so maybe get that if you go here. 2 stars because the staff are lovely and the interior has a cool vibe. read more

This is a really great, all-around classic Thai spot, and I was thoroughly impressed. All the dishes we tried were fantastic, and they come in a genuinely generous portion as well. You will definitely leave satisfied. For me, the consistency of Thai noodle dishes is a key indicator of whether or not a Thai place truly knows how to cook authentic food. I am happy to report that their noodles did not disappoint. They passed the test with flying colors; everything tasted fresh and perfectly balanced. My absolute favorite dish has got to be the Roasted Duck Curry. I know the duck protein option is heftier on the price, but it is well worth the extra cost for the rich flavor and tender meat. It is a definite standout and reason enough to visit. You have absolutely got to give this place a try. It is a win for quality, portions, and fantastic flavor! read more
