Was super tasty, popped over here for a work lunch while a bunch of us were in the office. Reservations were super easy! Service was 5 stars and food came out quick and tasty.

What a treat! Exceptional service! Not only did we get seated right away. As soon as we ordered, the food came out within a few minutes! Everything complemented each other. The place is beautiful with traditional Lao atmosphere. Rich vibrant colors. Full bar! Lots of amazing cocktails. Will def be back!

Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: A good option in fidi/downtown. The extended review... Food: Khao Nar Ped - 3/5 - A good healthy portion of duck over rice. Taste was standard fare. Service: 3/5 - Friendly staff. Ambiance: 4/5 - A well decorated setting with ample seating. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Pretty standard fare.

LOVE this place!! It's honestly so rare to find Lao food that feels this high-quality and truly authentic. Everything we tried was packed with flavor. Their happy hour platter deal is such a steal, it comes with oysters, sausage, chicken wings, and calamari, and the cocktails are only $7 (beers even cheaper). Amazing value for how good the food is. The vibe is always lively, and the staff are consistently warm and friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. Pro tip: go with a group so you can try more of the menu. I also love that many dishes come with fresh leafy greens so you can wrap everything - it adds the perfect fresh crunch and makes the meal even more fun and delicious. Definitely one of my go-to spots for great food and good vibes! My favorite dishes are the platter, fried rice, crispy spring rolls with leafy greens, papaya salad, and so much more :)

I came with a friend on a weekend night on the later side and there were not many people inside. It's a nice environment right in FiDi, and the plates are beautifully decorated for sure -- but I unfortunately didn't really love the food, We got a coconut curry which had good flavor but the meat inside was a bit too sinewy and also it was small portion size-- we kind of finished it in a few bites. As you can see, the leaves take up half the plate. We also got a bamboo salad and was excited to try it but I honestly couldn't eat much of it, was actually very spicy and also the raw vegetables on the side wasn't the most appealing. I assume some other things on the menu are better but definitely wasn't our day. My friend and I both agreed that the service was friendly but the food was so-so and overpriced for the sizes

Service was friendly and efficient. Wait time after ordering was quick! Especially on a busy Friday night. The food was tasty and beware of spicy. Medium spicy was spicy for me. Ambiance is clean and busy. Fun spot after work.

Ive been here twice and I want to love this place! But not everything on the menu is a hit They have a great happy hour menu if u can make it in time, and I recommend going the family-style option because some dishes are very small. Highlights: - spicy crispy rice appetizer: this was a hit! it is VERY spicy though as someone who can tolerate alot! But its a great sharing size for a group of 2-4 people - the fried fish is crispy and delicious with a great sauce. But there is not that much meat on the fish itself - the tom yum is a bit watery and does not have a strong flavor, but it comes out on an open flame and is very shareable - the curry rice portion is super super small for the amount of curry that is provided. We had to get an extra rice. The curry is not super spicy and did not have as much depth of flavor Overall, I would come again but just for the crispy rice appetizer!

We came here on Friday night for dinner. We had a reservation, so we were seated pretty quickly. Service-wise, our server was very friendly and our food came out pretty quickly. The ambiance was lively and loved the decor. We ordered: - "Tang-Mo" Watermelon Peanut Salad - I was initially skeptical about the combination, but I ended up really liking this! The juiciness and slight sweetness of the watermelon, really played will with the sightly sour and flavorful sauce, which made it taste very good! - Garlic Wings - It was pretty good, crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside and flavor was good, but nothing too out of this world. - Khaw Kai Noodles - The noodles were delicious and after adding the sauce, it really set off the taste very well. The chicken was also delicious and flavorful. - Spicy Thai Basil Chicken - Flavor-wise, this was delicious, but when we got it, the dish was not very warm or very spicy, which was a bummer. Overall, we had a great time and will be back in the future to try more items from the menu!

This place absolutely exceeded my expectations. The place is primarily Vietnamese but you would find Thai flavours. Such a wide variety of items in here - and everything is finger licking good. I absolutely had a feast here. I got Chicken Friend rice and it was good - not the best but above average. For the table fish platter was also exquisite. I can't recall which fish was that but it was really great..it also came up with so.many other item such as chicken wings. The seafood sizzling tom yum probably tasted the best. Thoughly enjoyed it. The Belgian beer they server was one of the best. In isolation probably every food I tried, I can find a better and slightly tastier version but a single place delivering and maintaining above average food quality over such a wide spectrum is rare. The ambience and environment was great. The place became super noisy later in the evening but it was so much fun dining out here.

We came for lunch midday on a Friday and were sat instantly! The space inside is huge and the ceilings are so tall, it was the perfect place for a nicer lunch to catch up with coworkers. I was a little worried based on other reviews that the portions would be small for the price, but I was pleasantly surprised when our dishes came and the portions were MASSIVE! The rice dishes came with 2+ cups of rice and my Pad Mee Lao Prawns was enough for 2.5 meals. Flavor was great as well - nothing mind blowing but I was definitely happy with what I got. And on Fridays, they have happy hour all day. We didn't get anything off of the happy hour menu, but I would definitely try coming for happy hour next time.

Service was quick and efficient. Portions were quite small for the price. Chicken satay with peanut sauce was my favorite. Pineapple fried rice was delicious. The "Curry" wild duck did not taste anything like curry at all. It was more like wild duck with OIL. Mango sticky rice and shaved ice was good. We kind of wished there was more mango sticky rice than the shaved ice.

The ambiance is beautiful and inviting. I love the decor and soft purple and pink lighting. The restaurant is great for groups as you can order large platters of the samples - trying a bit of everything whether meat or seafood. We ordered the Garden Fish - Crispy whole tilapia, Lao sausage, beef jerky, garlic chicken wings, peanut papaya salad paired with vermicelli, sticky rice, leafy greens and soft herbs. We also ordered the Original Lao Platter: fried chicken, larb duck Pakxe, "Tom Zaab" hot & spicy beef soup, Lao sausage, pad mee Lao paired with sticky rice and soft herbs. It was enough to feed six! Service was a little slow - you really have to get their attention because it's so busy. But they did a nice dessert presentation for my mom's birthday. Also try the Tom Yum Beer that was brewed in partnership with the restaurant!

Came here for lunch before catching a bus at the transit center next door. The restaurant is spacious, and the staff were quick and attentive. I ordered the noodles & chicken, and wasn't overly impressed. The noodles were soggy and I found there were too many bean sprouts in the dish. The flavors were also pretty flat, without much spice or variety. The prices were also on the higher side, even for SF. Definitely not a bad place, but I think the prices would turn me away from coming back.

Is the menu for lunch and dinner the same, or does lunch have a smaller offering?

    How busy on weekdays?

I went on a weekday and the place was not busy. If you have a large party I would recommend calling to make a reservation.

Is it easy to find parking?

There's a parking garage across the street in an alley.

Does Lao Table have Keto friendly options?

Absolutely! They have many meat/poultry dishes (over veggies, for example).

    Is kids friendly?

There are no particular efforts from the restaurants to entertain kids. Most of the diners are adults. The food has a kick, which might be a little bit too spicy for kids.

How bad is the wait time for lunch on weekends?

If you make a reservation you are all set and it isn't hard to make one even the day before. Great restaurant!

Do they still have the $1.00 oyster happy hour?

Yes! Every Monday to Friday 16:30 to 19:00.

We always pass by this place as my kids go to the music school on the same block. We finally had a chance to try the food on a Friday night. The food was unexpectedly delicious. Por laos - I really liked it. Highly recommend if you want a twist of the typical spring rolls. Chicken satay - it's one of the best ones I have, especially from a restaurant at this price point. The chicken breast was on the slightly thicker side, which give us a meaty and satisfying satay. The meat was perfectly cooked and juicy and tender. And they served with the spot on satay sauce. I do wish we get more cucumber salad though. But that's more like my personal preference. Soft shell crab - this is the dish that really won us over. Not only they fried the soft shell crab to perfection, they used quality ingredient as well. (We had been in restaurants before where we got fishy soft shell crab - even after they were deep fried to death.). My kids always wanted to try soft shell crab and they loved it after having their first bit over here. I didn't expect to have this perfect soft shell crab here in a small Thai/Laotian restaurant. Yellow curry w/ chicken - fairly standard yet delicious. I do have to praise the staff for being thoughtful. I forgot to ask for mild when I placed the order. I was so worried that the curry will be too spicy for our table. But apparently the staff made the adjustment for us when they saw us coming with two young kids. Kudos for that! Pad see ew with beef - it's on the sweeter side. We got generous portion of beef in this economy! :) I think this place is a pretty good value. We left with a happy and full belly. It may not be the perfect spot for large parties but it's definitely the perfect spot for those who are in the area craving for authentic Thai/Laotian cuisine!

They were not so close that you could hear other diners' conversations. The restaurant appeared clean and modern. Parking can be difficult. It's street-side parking, and we had to drive around a bit to find a spot, but when we did, it was worth the short walk. Customer service was good. We got there right at opening, were seated immediately, and over the course of about an hour, the restaurant began filling up. We weren't always checked on, but that didn't bother me. Now for the food. We ordered nam khao rice, crispy pork belly, papaya salad Lao style, fried wings, sticky rice, and steamed rice. The nam khao rice was our favorite dish. It was incredibly flavorful and seasoned well, and the herbs and lettuce served alongside the rice were both crunchy and refreshing. They complemented the rice very well. I still think about this dish often. 5/5, would recommend. The crispy pork belly was my son's favorite. We also thought it was good, especially the dipping sauce that accompanied the protein. One downside is that it doesn't come with rice, which I find odd because most Asian dishes are traditionally served with rice. This is the main reason why we purchased a side of sticky rice and steamed rice. This is also the second Thai/Laos restaurant I've been to on the West Coast that sells rice separately from an entree. I find that odd. While it was delicious and had a nice crunch, it also left something to be desired. 3.5/5. The papaya salad Lao style ranked second for favorite dish of the day. I haven't had papaya salad in decades, and this took me straight back to Hmong New Year and my childhood. I respect and appreciate that Bhan Mae Vane delivers on authentic flavors unique to Laos food without holding back. It was served with cabbage, noodles, and pork rinds. 5/5, highly recommend. The chicken wings were mainly for my daughters, as they are picky eaters, but from a small bite, I would say they're good. I would skip them if you can help it, though, because there are other dishes worth exploring and trying. My daughters enjoyed them and had no complaints. They were crunchy, flavorful, and cooked well. With that said, because I only had a small bite, it doesn't seem fair to give them a rating. Overall, 4.5/5. I would return and explore their menu. Because the flavors are explosive in the nam khao rice and papaya salad, I'm excited to try more from them.

San Tung was one of the only busy spots on Irving Street during a weekday lunch hour, which felt like a promising sign. We were seated pretty quickly at a large round table across from two other diners, which was totally fine. And after looking around at everyone's tables, it was clear that these two dishes were the most popular items. Since this was my first time trying the dry fried chicken wings, I was surprised that they came out coated in a thick, sticky sauce--so not necessarily "dry" in the way I expected. Flavor-wise, they leaned more sweet than savory. I think this dish would be a big hit for people who enjoy sweet and sour or kung pao-style chicken, which isn't usually my personal preference. My husband definitely enjoyed them though, so I can see why they have such a loyal following. The black bean noodles were warm and comforting, with a nice homey feel. The sauce had good flavor, although I thought it leaned a little bland and wasn't quite as thick or rich in texture as I personally prefer. Overall, San Tung was a fun spot to finally try, especially given how much hype surrounds those wings. I'd definitely come back with a bigger group of friends so we could order more dishes and get a better feel for the menu, but I probably wouldn't come back on my own for anything in particular.
