The first US restaurant by 2x Michelin chef Ton of Thailand! Beautiful space, especially loved the attention to detail and luxury in the bathroom(!!). And a kind, knowledgable and warm staff! The food was delicious and so unique - tried the white curry, the duck curry, the fish pla yang rice pot, cabbage and khao soi. Our favorites were: - the white curry (centuries old recipe, back when Thailand did not have pepper yet! using coconut and white pepper as their base) - rice pot (though the red snapper fillet was a single portion and too small to share among four) - the cabbage, light and excellent There were some understandable new opening pains from visiting on their 3rd day (garlic skins and an inedible leaf in our food, their whole branzino was sadly sold out bc they only had 3, and no non-alcoholic drink options besides sodas yet). Overall, delicious excellent Thai food with an expensive price tag so come frequently on your company's dime (:

4.5 STARS SAAM had me at... "We will not bring down the heat...the dishes will as spicy as they need to be, as we eat in Thailand!" Whooo hoooo - bring on the GERD and burning booty hole! Opening Today, SAAM is from renowned, award winning Chef Ton Tassanakajohn who has two restaurants in Thailand: LE DU and NUSARA that hold Michelin stars and are regularly featured on the "World's 50 Best Restaurant List". Currently, open for dinner only with lunch service to come. M E N U A la carte menu featuring elevated, regional Thai Cuisine (family-style) using locally sourced ingredients. All sauces and curry pastes are made from scratch. Beer and wine only. TIPS: (1) IF you can't secure rezzies for your preferred day/time, get on Resy Notify. You'll receive a email when someone cancels their rezzie and it becomes available. (2) Located near Oracle Park, check the game schedule. Street parking will be rough and parking lots charge an inflated event fee (the one across the street was $60). F O O D * Tuna Za Jin: Akami w/ balakian tomato, crispy shallots, and Vietnamese coriander sauce ($35): https://tinyurl.com/44kzbk78 Nice palate opener with fresh [raw] tuna over ripen heirloom tomatoes with a creamy pesto-ish sauce. Mild flavors. * Goong Tod Nam Pla Waan: Gulf shrimps, crispy shallot, fried chili, mango salad ($32): https://tinyurl.com/yv3zx4ms One of our favs of the night, the fried shrimp has a crispy paper-thin shell with tender meat...tossed in a savory sweet, umami rich glaze that low-key reminds of nước chấm. Served with a refreshing and punchy green mango salad. * Pad Ped Ped: Root Down Duck w/ shrimp paste, finger root, kaffir leaf, and young coconut ($38): https://yelp.to/z3PNJfffrn Pounded by hand daily and cooked to order, the dry-style curry was rich, deeply aromatic, and layered with complex flavors. The skin-on, tender duck breast soaked up all the saucy goodness. I have a fairly high spice tolerance and would rate the heat around 5/10 on its own, or 7/10 if you eat the chilies. Pairing this with sticky rice is a must. * OM Pork Chop: Grilled Snake River Farm Pork Chop w/ northern-style Om sauce, shrimp paste, fermented fish sauce, basil, and Szechuan pepper ($49): - Default: Medium well (tried to request medium rare) Our least fav item, the lean pork chop was overdone, dry, and tasted unseasoned. Seemed pan seared, not grilled. The Isan sauce is a savory and herbacous curry which did the heavy lifting. IMO, this dish needs some tweaking and fine-tuning to stand out. And, a sharper knife is needed. * Sticky Rice ($5) Properly cooked but I wished it was served in something to keep it warm and moist. * Jasmine Rice ($3) * Mango Sticky Rice Meringue (Comped, Reg. $25): https://tinyurl.com/2pb8btat Our server graciously comped this dessert as an apology for the pork chop. Classic Thai dessert with a French twist, the coconut infused, chewy rice was topped with diced mangoes and crowned with torched meringue. Cloud-like and sweetened with jaggery from Thailand, the meringue added a light, caramelized sweetness that balanced the richness of the coconut rice and the juicy tropical mango. To nit-pick, it could use more mangoes. S E R V I C E Friendly, personable service from our server, Poppo. He was attentive, kept our glasses filled, and receptive to feedback. Aside from our interaction with Poppo, the overall service could benefit from additional training to better reflect the warmth and genuine hospitality that Thai restos are known for. The BOH was on point with prompt arrival of courses. We were done in less than an hour. A M B I A N C E Casual, modern dining area that's welcoming and inviting with decorative Thai ceramics and cookware, earth tones, half-circle booths, and banquette seating. Overall, SAAM is off to a solid start (4 stars for the food). While the city has no shortage of great Thai restaurants, both casual and upscale, SAAM has potential to set itself apart. By showcasing creative regional dishes rooted in traditional and approachable Thai flavors while thoughtfully incorporating CA's local ingredients, it's a welcome addition to Mission Bay. 4.5 stars rounded up.

First I want to say how welcoming it was when I entered the restaurant. When I entered i was immediately greeted and checked in.. and shown to my seat. I was seated and the menu was set on the table with a glass and I was offered still or sparkling. Everyone was so welcoming, warm and very professional. The interior of this restaurant was beautiful. You can tell that a lot of thought was put into this all the way down to the seating. The design was carefully thought out. The dishes were placed at our table and at one point I got so excited because when it all arrived to the table I didn't know what to try. It all looked very delicious.. and it was! The spice level was wonderful and brought some heat. The curry was delicious and the shrimp was plump and flavorful. I really enjoyed every minute I was in the restaurant and I can't wait for everyone else to try it out!

Great service great food great ambience as a long time love of Thai food in the Thailand and took cooking classes. This is top-notch. The menu is limited in census scope but every dish is as good as every other dish. This is not to be missed experienced the staff was incredibly professional, and the food was equal so.

Om Pork Chop: crushed peppercorn to boosting the flavor of pork chop is unexpected, mushroom is also great

5/5 alone is for the service. The team were very attentive , friendly and so professional during our visit. Now let get down with the food: it was an amazing experience with different texture and flavor. The food are not only rich in flavor but conceptualize of how to celebrating traditional thai food in the westerner setting (wine pairing) Would recommending anyone to come and dine at the restaurant to embrace it fully in. The experience is worth all the hype

After seeing SAAM and Chef Ton on social media for months, I finally got a reservation, and it was well worth the wait. The restaurant feels warm, intimate, and inviting. Service was attentive, with our server doing an excellent job introducing the restaurant and guiding us through both the food and wine menus. We started with the Goong Tod Nam Pla Waan and the som tum peach--both were vibrant, creative, and beautifully balanced. The OM pork chop was incredibly juicy and flavorful with the gravy, while the tiger prawn kapi was a huge prawn i've ever seen and perfectly cooked with outstanding texture. Khao Mun Gaeng Pla Yang is delish, while The Pad Ped Ped brought bold heat and aromatic herbs, making it one of the most memorable dishes of the evening. The wine list is thoughtfully curated. We enjoyed Lambrusco, Txakolina, and Chenin Blanc, all of which paired beautifully with the food and highlighted different aspects of the dishes. It's refreshing to see a restaurant invest in a wine list that complements the dining experience rather than simply serving as an afterthought. Overall, SAAM delivers refined Thai cuisine with excellent technique, attentive hospitality, and the pricing feels fair for the quality and execution. Definitely one of San Francisco's most exciting new restaurants.

Food delivered on the flavor and the promise of spicy, sour, sweet in the name! The beef "bite" to start was amazing. Curry clams had incredible flavor and good level of heat. Big wow factor from the tiger prawn! Great service and recommendations from our waiter.

Fantastic dining experience at SAAM Thai! The atmosphere was wonderful, and the food was incredible from start to finish. A huge shoutout to our server, Katie--she was super attentive, warm, and made our night extra special. Highly recommend!"

We visited Saam SF on opening night, so a few opening-week hiccups were expected. The service could use a bit more polish as the team settles into their rhythm, but the food, cocktails, and overall atmosphere were outstanding. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared with great flavors and presentation, and the space has a warm, stylish vibe that makes for a great dining experience. Given it was their first night, they're off to a very promising start. Looking forward to coming back in a few weeks to see them hit their stride.

Every bite and sip was delicious. We ordered family style and shared everything. The service was also fantastic, even though we got there late and didn't realize until the food was beginning to come out that it was last call, our server and all the other workers that came by were all so friendly and made us feel welcome. We ate quickly and boxed the rest so they could get home. What we ordered: Tom Kha soup - coconutty, creamy, a lil sour and a lil spice. Delicious. Fresh rolls - crisp and springy with lots of greens and tofu and a good peanut sauce to dip. Crispy pork belly sweet basil - the CRISP and flavor of this pork belly was to die for. Chicken larb - this was my favorite dish of the night. Heavy basil/herbs, just a little kick from the chilies, full on flavor explosion. I will be thinking of this dish for a long time haha. Beef Pad See Ew - chewy in the most delicious and favor packed way. Love pad see ew and this one was great! Pad cha scallop - Came out sizzling on a cast iron! This dish was fun and the scallops while small, were fresh and had lots of flavor. And finally, for dessert we ordered the black rice durian. It was all three of us' first time trying Durian and we loved it! Creamy and a little funky but the black rice and sauce emphasized its natural sweetness. Thank you to everyone at Saap Ver for adding to my besties birthday happiness! Can't wait to come back.

The inside of the restaurant was quite lively, even though it was pretty early in the evening. The decorations were very colorful, and the atmosphere felt lively. Service was fine, but the food did take awhile to get to us. We ended up ordering crispy pork, duck curry, pad thai, and fried rice (sorry don't remember which fried rice in particular). I think the pad thai and fried rice were a bit light in flavor, but the curry and crispy pork were really yummy! The duck curry kinda took me by surprise because of the lychee haha I wish the portions were bigger, but great taste.

The interior is well decorated with Thai culture and with the darker tones of the design, it makes the restaurant feel quite fancy. 4.5/5 - Crispy Pork (Moo Krop) Fried Rice - Very savory fried rice dish. Spiced well and very filling. We didn't expect the pork to be cut so large and mixed into the rice, but it was very tender and easy to still eat. We would've expected the pork to be sliced maybe in half or fourths to make the dish feel like a "pork fried rice" than a fried rice + pork mix, but it still worked well and if you love pork, this will definitely be your fix! 5/5 - Pad Thai - We thought the restaurant nailed this classic noodle dish. Filling portions and did not overcook their noodles. You can taste each component of the dish, which speaks to everything not being under or overcooked. We ordered nuts on the side but you would be quite satisfied ordering this if you like pad thai! 4.5/5 - Pad Gra Prow - Appropriate veggie to beef proportion and very flavorful. Minced well and great to complement with your carb dishes (noodle or rice). We thought the dish was slightly oily but it feels well absorbed when eaten with our pad thai. If you have tried the dish before and would like it, this will be satisfactory!
