Cute spot that's fairly priced and with good food? That's a triple threat! Came here for dinner with work friends and split a few dishes. We trie the crispy rolls ($12), papaya salad ($14.50), drunken noodle ($17.25), pad see ew ($17.25) and choo chee salmon ($23.95). The crispy rolls were vegetarian and came with a side of sweet chili dipping sauce. It was a standard roll, nothing to complain about but not something I would go out of my way for. Papaya salad was fresh and came with lettuce leaves as well. A solid app to split with a small group. I didn't try the drunken noodles as the group wanted beef in it, but I heard it was good. We decided to get tofu as the protein for the pad see ew, and it definitely hit the spot. However, I'd say the choo chee salmon was the winner. The curry sauce was super flavorful and had hints of coconut. Salmon was cooked well, and it came with some veggies that soaked up the curry. We didn't ask for rice on the side since we already had 2 carb dishes, but it would pair very nicely with white rice. Service was good. They checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. I wish they had all the thai spices and sauces though. Usually at Thai restaurants, there's four different condiments, but this one only had a homemade spice concoction. read more

Eggplant stir fry: 8/10 The eggplant and sauce was good. The eggplant soaked up all of the good richness, but the tofu was very hard in the outside. A little difficult to bite into. Pad Thai: 9/10 I really enjoyed this one. The noodles were chewy and the flavor was on point. Good with chicken. Samosas: 8.5/10 Solid. Good flavor but a little overpriced ($11.5 for 3 samosas) Khao soi: 10/10 By far the most impressive dish. I've never experienced a flavor quite like this. The food was good, but unfortunately this review is about the wait staff and the experience we had on 9/22. The wait staff was rude and made the entire experience uncomfortable. To make matters worse, we were first given the wrong receipt showing a lower total. Then, when it came time to pay, we were handed a handheld payment device showing a higher amount than the itemized bill we had been given. The automatic gratuity was also not clearly disclosed or explained. The entire payment process felt confusing, misleading, and dishonest. Customers should be able to clearly understand exactly what they are being charged, and the amount on the payment device should match the itemized bill. Solid Thai food! The dishes seem pretty standard, but they are well-priced and tasty. We had the eggplant basil with chicken and the cashew nut crispy chicken with a side of jasmine rice. The eggplant was nice and soft and the symphony of flavors was good! I just wish that the spice from the peppers was more evenly mixed in and that the sauce was less watery. The regular chicken was just ok, I think I would choose a different protein next time. The crispy chicken in the cashew dish was juicy and flavorful. Big fan of this dish! I also tried the khao soi during my previous visit and thought it was pretty solid. The service was good but a little slow, maybe because the restaurant was pretty packed. If you flag them down though they are quite responsive, you may just need to take some initiative to get the bill. The restaurant is simply decorated but fairly aesthetic. Came here after the Ronny vs Hasan show on a Saturday--also the day of the power outage. We were so glad Polk Street still had power so we could grab food before heading home. Surprisingly, we were seated right away. We weren't super hungry, but figured we should eat since we didn't know when the power would be back on. We ordered the Thai boat noodles, drunken noodles, and spicy sauce wings. Everything was super flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The Thai boat noodles almost tasted like pho, and while the drunken noodles looked a bit bland because of the lighter color, they were actually packed with flavor. My buddy and I wrapped up a conference in the area, and I wanted Thai food since we had sushi for lunch. Originally we were going to another Thai spot, but I bumped into someone I knew, Sandy, who lives in the area. She recommended Thai Spice, so my buddy and I meandered to both Thai spots. It is a Sunday night around 6:45pm or so, and it wasn't too busy, so decided to check out Thai Spice. The place got packed after we ordered, so while the ambiance was good earlier, it got really loud and hard to hear. So if you wanted a quiet date night, I would go earlier for dinner vs the dinner rush, which had larger parties of 4-8, etc. The price point is decent for SF pricing and the food taste, is San Francisco American-Thai flavor and palate & ambiance. What does this mean? It means that the venue has modern decor, the food portions are huge, food has taste without offending anyone, etc. The staff makes sure that if anyone has good allergies or preferences that all considerations are factored in, the bill comes in the portable devices, you need to ask for water refills, but the staff is attentive to ask if you need anything and are efficient with everything. Put it this way, if you have a group of work friends, 2nd/3rd date, take out or delivery food (the food will likely transport well) for a weekday or Sunday night spot, this should be your go-to, have friends from out of town, this is the ideal spot for you. The papaya salad was fresh and - nice kick to it, the pad see ew had a more neutral flavor profile, and my buddy had the fried chicken dish. My buddy also had a beer and white rice. The total was about $72. My ex-fiancee is Thai, so if you are looking for a more authentic spot, I would recommend Lers Ros. I can see why Thai Spice is popular for this neighborhood tho. If it was a Thursday or Friday night, this is a good spot before or after bar hopping on Polk St. If a Saturday and you had a large group, this is a good spot. I wouldn't come here for a date night on a Saturday tho. I remember coming here before the remodel, years ago, which had a more family style cozy feeling and the food was a bit more authentic. I had a solid dinner at Thai Spice. I've been once a while back and wanted to return to see if it was still as good as I remembered. The food is amazing! The thai fried rice was a great compliment to it as well! Shrimp were big and juicy. The ambiance in the restaurant is very inviting and cute. We were able to walk in with no reservations around 6:30 but it did get very busy around 7:30 so be prepared to wait if you come during peak dinner time. The service was friendly, but slow. No one checked on us to see how we enjoyed the food and it took a long time to get a check. I was also interested in getting desert but they didn't ask if we wanted any and just dropped the check after clearing our plates. This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in SF! The flavors are amazing, portions generous, and the interior is adorable and perfect for a casual weeknight dinner out. I love the Roti with curry sauce - an absolute must to start with. I love any of the noodle dishes (soup or stir fried), but specifically love the Pad See Ew here. It has a great char that I'm always looking for in my Thai food. The Thai tea here is also incredible! Perfectly sweet and creamy, but not overwhelming.
