I forgot the name of the noodle but it is so flavorful, really good. The papaya salad was food and the fried rice too. Really recommend the food - the flavor is immaculate! Nice staff as well. The thai tea was ok.

We were looking for a place to eat on Irving Street that didn't have a wait on a Sunday afternoon and decided to eat at Marnee Thai. The staff greeted us happily and welcomed us in. We ordered the Northern Thai Tea Leaf Salad, Panang Beef, Pad Prig Khing with beef, Thai Style Fried Rice, and Chicken Pad Thai. The food was pretty good. The Thai Tea Leaf salad was more saucy than the Burmese style, but still good. I thought our waitress was going to mix the salad for us, as she started to use the forks to mix, but then she was just checking to see if the tomatoes were in there, and then walked away. The chicken pad Thai was good. Pad Prig Khing is beef and string beans sautéed with hot chili paste. You can substitute the protein option. It was really good. Panang Beef is chunks of beef cooked in a curry sauce with coconut milk and Thai basil. It was served with a side of plain broccoli. We liked the Thai Style Fried Rice because of the duck and pineapple, which we selected. The duck pieces were a little fatty, but duck is fatty in general. Overall, we had a good lunch at Marnee Thai. Just a note - the price of the Pad Prig Khing was higher on the bill than what was listed on the menu. The restaurant was a little dark a bit old, but the restaurant has been around for decades, and was just fine to dine in.

The food tasted really good, maybe even better than my usual, King of Thai Noodles. The soup has decent amount of shrimp and is medium spicy, maybe just too spicy for my stomach. Similar to their curry, certain curry only comes in medium and hot, they can't make it "mild", so be careful when ordering. I really like their shrimp rolls , petite and heavy in shrimps, fried not too deep but enough for a crisp taste. Next time, I will try their Thai fried rice and dessert Roti. The ambiance looks good but this is for my UberEats takeout so I can't comment on their service or ambiance. Thanks!

Love the elevated wood ceilings. The food was delicious and flavorful. Quick service with barely anyone on a Sunday night. We ordered the Tom yum soup with shrimp, pad kaprow with roasted duck, Kang Keaw with chicken. Even though they were rated "mild", my low spice tolerance could barely handle the dishes. I didn't try the curry, but my friends loved it and ordered an extra side of rice for it.

Marnee Thai has been around forever, and it's a staple in the neighborhood. Dinner time on the weekends usually gets busy so plan accordingly. Ambiance: Dimmed lights, moderate to loud diners but has a homey feel. Food: Been dining here for years and don't recall a dish missing the mark. Chicken satay - Generous size of chicken and grilled so perfectly-- their peanut sauce does lack a bit of depth but it does the job. Imperial rolls - Usually a favorite as it has a variety of meat and is crispy on the outside. Red curry with chicken - GENEROUS amount of chicken in here. Pretty spicy and goes very well with some rice. Flavor is soooo good. Pad kee mao - Very fragrant and delicious. Oily but that makes the dish not dry!! Fried rice with duck - Not as generous with chicken in other dishes but the duck meat to skin ratio is perfect. Not so much on the meat either. Would recommend and keep coming back!

Ordered the gai samoon prai, pad ginger chicken, eggplant beef, curry chicken, pad thai, and pad see ew. Very known restaurant older since at least 1990s. Very friendly service. Bathroom behind kitchen. Gai samoon prai- lemongrass peppercorn dish with chicken. Chef special interesting taste a little tangy and sour Ginger chicken- not bad refreshing bell pepper sauce seems to be a black pepper base lots of fresh ginger slices on top Eggplant beef - soft good flavor. Also a salt and pepper base sauce. Pad Thai- a but spicy. Shrimp jumbo shrimp crunchy and soft food fresh taste. Solid pad Thai dish 8.5/10 Pad se ew- wide flat noodle very smooth. Another pepper sauce base but lighter and not over powering. Chicken curry - light coconut curry taste a bit of a watered down flavor. Not that bad.

I found this spot in Irving when I was staying in SF for a month while working nearby. They were generous and kind even though I was a single diner. I eventually brought my significant other here, and now it's our favorite Thai spot in the city for the atmosphere, food, and warmth of the staff. We absolutely love the angel tofu/angel chicken wings, the Thai tea, and all of the desserts! All the curries are good as well. Certainly worth trying if you're in the area, and the Golden Gate Park is nearby to walk off the calories afterwards too.

On our way to wine country, we were passing by DTSF around early dinner time, and I remembered that Marnee was one of the best thai restaurants last time I was in the SFO area about 15 years ago. While this was not the location that a friend of mine introduced us to, we were highly-satisfied with 2 of the 3 dishes that we ordered. The Spicy Angel Wings with their signature chili-garlic/tamarind sauce and the Basa Fillet with garlic pepper sauce were very good. I highly recommend those but the roti was just ok.

Interestingly enough and much to my surprise, San Francisco is not really known for their Siamese/Thai food. In fact, when I go onto the Yelp app and search for an above average Thai restaurant in the city, very few places actually show up. Reason being is simply because this city is heavily saturated with some amazing Dim Sum, Japanese, Vietnamese, and dozens upon dozens of award-winning Chinese restaurants. However, paying a visit to "Marnee Thai" just might change my perspective of how amazing this place was. Located in the Inner Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco, this restaurant is situated directly on Irving St. and tucked in between 23rd & 24th Ave while only being a couple blocks away from Golden Gate Park. This is actually their original location as they also have a 2nd location (also in the Inner Sunset) that is on 9th Ave and close to Lincoln Way. Parking can be a challenge with the vast amount of businesses and boutiques surrounding this area. My lady and I came during the evening of Friday 11/29/2024 at around 5:25pm. The hours of operation are Wednesday through Monday from 11:30am-8:30pm while being closed on Tuesday. As soon as my lady and I walked in, it was very warm, cozy, and inviting. The interior layout showcases a distinctive A-frame roof design complete with wood paneling throughout. In fact, this place has a very strong Thailand presence to it as the artwork and walls looked as if we were dining out in Bangkok and not San Francisco. And even though we came during dinnertime on a Friday evening, there was no wait as we were seated by the hostess immediately. Since I already knew what I wanted, I settled with their "Pad Kee Mao"; this consisted of roasted duck, wide rice noodles, chili, garlic, tomatoes, and string beans. My lady went with the "Pad Se-Ew" which is one of the more popular Thai dishes; she chose chicken as her protein of choice. Her dish had a blend of pan-fried wide rice noodles, soy beans, broccoli, and scrambled eggs. And as a trademark of every Thai restaurant I visit, I went with their "Thai Iced Tea". Both of our meals arrived in around 8 minutes; very quick turnaround time. And best of all, our dishes were piping hot. I absolutely loved the seasoned, tender, and flavorful bits of my roasted duck as they were very generous with the meat portion. Since I do not like spicy, they were able to make it with a more milder chili flavor. It hit the spot in every way possible. All of the ingredient with the wide noodles had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. I also tried some of her Pad Se-Ew and that too was top notch. Even my Thai iced tea had the perfect amount of tea without being overbearingly sweet. Again, the service and quality of food was excellent while not being too expensive. All in all, I loved "Marnee Thai" as this will be a future staple restaurant for my lady and I. My rating, a unanimous five stars.

It's been a while since I came here but I used to come here all the time because this is "THE BEST THAI PLACE" in the city but I think it doesn't hold that title anymore. Just walking into the restaurant gave me a different vibe from when I used to go there all the time. The food was nothing amazing either.

Both are rum-based and had a really nice kick, especially the Soi Ari with the pandan in the aftertaste (which we found super refreshing). Food we ordered were the Nam Tok Beans, the Pad Khee Mao, and the rabbit curry. Both of us love spice so the Nam Tok Beans blew us away! Did not expect that kind of packed flavor at all but it makes a seemingly ordinary bean dish so much more exciting. The noodles were cooked perfectly and made a great in between to the rabbit curry. Which speaking of, oh my god??? SUPER tender and fall off-the-bone. Rabbit can be a hard dish to put on for people who have never tried it, but I really appreciate that it's not as bone-y as other rabbit dishes I've had in the past. It really was like chicken but softer. Wow wow wow. Huge shoutout to our bartender for giving us extra birthday shots on the house. Never had Amaro before tonight but it was delicious. Did not get his name unfortunately but he's fantastic! The reason I give 4 stars despite the great experience was because I noticed less urgency from the host and the servers in terms of getting stuff out. Doesn't help that the place is smaller and more expensive for a Michelin star establishment. Sitting by the bar made a huge difference for us since we had a great experience with our bartender, but I have a feeling that those at regular tables that night might've lost patience with the wait times for certain dishes. TLDR: if you love spicy Thai food, have the money to spend, and aren't in a rush, this place is worth checking out.

The restaurant closes at 9:30pm, and they were kind enough to let us stay until then! I also enjoyed the ambiance - the interior was quite beautiful, and had many floral decorations, which I enjoyed. For food, I got the hot stone pot, which comes with minced pork and prawns. The dish was not only delicious but also was a large portion size. The rice was crispy on the bottom, and it was nice that the server mixed the dish for me on the table. I would definitely come back to try other dishes! One of my friends got the Pad Kee Mow, and she also very much enjoyed her dish, agreeing that it was delicious and that the noodles were perfectly chewy! I got the French 75 as a drink, and it was very good as well! Overall, I would definitely come back, especially to try the brunch, which I've heard many good things about! Truly a 10/10 experience!

I would describe the ambiance as "modern cherry blossom" with it's tall ceilings and pop music to boot. I had the popcorn chicken appetizer - very crispy and tasty with the five spice outer coating. Next came the egg rolls, about four rolls cut in half with accompanying Thai sweet chili sauce. I split the pad see ew with tofu. It would have been nice to have had a few more vegetables thrown in, especially the broccoli as I counted just a couple of pieces. I did like the tofu although I felt there could have been more and a bit more tender. They could totally redo the front patio dining area as I think it would draw more customers in. If it had not been for my friend recommending this spot, I would have walked by. Overall the customer service was good and I would come back to try other dishes - I'd say the popcorn chicken was my favorite.

Spiced well and very filling. We didn't expect the pork to be cut so large and mixed into the rice, but it was very tender and easy to still eat. We would've expected the pork to be sliced maybe in half or fourths to make the dish feel like a "pork fried rice" than a fried rice + pork mix, but it still worked well and if you love pork, this will definitely be your fix! 5/5 - Pad Thai - We thought the restaurant nailed this classic noodle dish. Filling portions and did not overcook their noodles. You can taste each component of the dish, which speaks to everything not being under or overcooked.
