Egg noodles with yellow chicken curry...
    Caitlin N.

Fast friendly service, casual ambiance...came on Friday night for party of 3 and was seated with no wait...ordered the deep fried chicken patty with lime cream sauce (good, different, not seem on any other Thai menu), fish cake ( ok, good cucumber sauce that saved the otherwise unassuming appetizer), tamarind prawns (don't be fooled by the appearance, all shell and less edible meat than tiger prawns..over fried and dried that even drenched in tamarind sauce could not salvage)...egg noodle with chicken curry (the only dish that was notable...curry flavor spot on) $120 for 3 ppl pricey underwhelming Thai food..nah, pass on this...

Been wanting to try this spot for so long so I'm glad I finally got to go! The gai manow is definitely worth the hype and is as good as it looks. Crispy chicken that's also tender and juicy on the inside with a delicious citrusy cream sauce and the most addicting crispy chinese broccoli! An amazing combo and super unique. I liked the sukho thai noodle as well but felt the flavor was too limey for me at first, though it grew on me as I ate more. The crispy pork is great and there's a large variety of toppings which was fun. I thought the pad keemao was just okay and too spicy (even though we got mild) -- maybe I just prefer pad see ew more. Service was amazing and super attentive! They replaced our plates between the apps and mains which was a nice touch and our water was refilled constantly. Vibe inside is also cozy and nicely decorated. Would definitely come back to try more of the menu.

I have always wanted to come in, but somehow never did. Today, my friend and I decided on Thai after a workout at the gym. We both fancied the food and think it might be one of the best Thai places in the city. It gives u flavors, style, and presentation. We all had a great time with all the food. We ordered two dishes to share. They were both amazing, and the crispy pork belly was definitely the dish of the day. People here are nice. Will be back!

===TL;DR=== - Khao Mun Gal - Kapow Moo Krob - Sukho Thai noodle - Belasco De Baquedano Llama Malbec ===TMI=== Charming cute and dim lit interior, great for catching up with friends or a date night. The staff were very nice, attentive and professional. What a great cozy place in the cold Richmond district. The food was sharp in flavor but cooked very well. Meats were tender, broth was hearty and the wine was superb. Everything was well presented. Almost gave off a petite French restaurant vibe if I didn't know they're a Thai cuisine.

All the great reviews drew me to choose Oraan as our lunch spot for my bestie visiting from LA. Space is beautiful and the service absolutely top notch, but perhaps I didn't order correctly. We shared the papaya salad, pad see ew, and ribeye with green curry. All were fine, but not spectacular. The ribeye had an uneven cook, but the flavor was good and the accompanying sauce actually spicy, for those of you who can handle the heat. Overall, pleasant experience, and worth checking out.

Thai iced tea, (coconut milk + 0.5)

Some out of town friends got a recommendation from local friends who live a couple blocks away about this corner restaurant in the Inner Richmond. Coworkers of our hosts raved about this place made this a weekend dinner party destination. Our group of eight were seated at a window table in the 2nd dining room to the right. The restaurant was full when I arrived just before 7 pm. The out of towners crafted our family style meal as I was too tired to even look at the menu. Given the busy atmosphere, I'm sure the restaurant appreciated our efficiency in ordering our meal. I started by ordering the Thai iced tea with coconut milk (+0.50) (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=m4NVGOSRXekWjVtrmPJAbg). It was not overly pungent nor too sweet. The milk gave a richness to this drink. The meal was ordered family and here's what we tried: Apps: 1. Curry puffs (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=yxbXHlhxen4dLmVA0GrJjg), Thai small pied (sp) filled with chicken, curry sauce, potato, and carrot. 2. Makuer Tod (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=aNoUC1nPzblUtM1qh1SQhA), crispy eggplant served with house made sweet & sour sauce. 3. Gai Manow (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=GguqOfCd055QoRLnvxnCvg), deep fried marinated chicken with lemon cream sauce and crispy Chinese broccoli. 4. Laab Gai (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=-jJ_criJDew0YDpz8EXjEQ), minced chicken salad. Mains: 6. Kung Makam (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=ry_q6BfOGKuNqhGLDPhvmw), crunchy jumbo prawns in seasoning sweet tamarind sauce. 8. Kapow Moo Kwong (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=fd5yotg04Hq8_NzJtKXXYA), stir fried crispy pork belly. 9. Kor Moo Tod (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=G2JmoXMNvwKMiR9Od6PJ-g), marinated premium pork shoulder, fried garlic, cilantro served with chili rice powder sauce and sticky rice. 10. Pad Seew: pork (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=TDPhCS096cmCl7n2hdKUJA), pan fried wide rice noodles egg, garlic, Chinese broccoli in a house made brown sauce. 13. Thai fried rice: chicken (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=cnNOM8GQUuqCpZPjWzplGQ), Thai style fried rice, egg, garlic, onion, tomato, green onion, cilantro. Served with Prik Nam pla - Thai chili fish sauce. 14. Broccoli Katiem (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=N7F6Q91BBF3DzHkVkSPKtw), stir fried broccoli with garlic sauce and soy bean sauce, topped with fried garlic. From the appetizers, my favorites were the laab and the Gai Manow (never tried before). For mains, both curries were very tasty and paired well with the various rice offerings. I enjoyed the two noodles and fried rice too. The broccoli was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Given the dining traffic, the service was efficient with empty bowls and plates removed and water glasses refilled. For a more relaxed dining experience, my guess is weeknights are probably practical. I would like to return and explore more of their large menu. Thank you for our gracious hosts for bringing me here.

Great Thai spot on Geary! It's easy to make a reservation online which is a plus. Came here with table of 4 and a baby. They had a high chairs which was nice. The restaurant is decorated nicely, it's a little upscale but with chill vibes. The food was amazing. We enjoyed the crispy eggplant and tom kha soup for our starters. The eggplant was so crispy but not oily. And the tom kha was very flavorful, it was a perfect balance of savory, salty and sweet. For the entrees, we got the pork shoulder (kor moo tod), the grilled ribeye steak with green curry sauce (nuer marakot), and the sukho Thai noodle soup. The favorite main dishes were the pork shoulder and the sukho Thai noodles. Both were delicious! I would say the sukho Thai noodles is a must try dish, the soup was amazing and unlike other noodle soups I've had. For dessert we got mango sticky rice, it was the perfect way to end the meal. The service was also on point! Very kind and attentive.

Appetizers and tom yum soup were really good, but the fried rice and noodles were just okay. Overall, a decent spot for thai food.

Very friendly service and variety of special thai dishes! The gai manow was a nice and crispy chicken, the inside was not a cutlet but ground up like nugget. The sauce on top is not as heavy as it seems and i enjoyed the fried veggie. The choo chee salmon was crispy and had a red curry sauce, needed side order of rice with it. Salmon was cooked nicely. The sukho thai noodle was had broth like tom yum but thicker. The variety of pork meats was good, and rice noodle soaked all the flavor.

If you're craving Thai, I'd recommend you give this eatery a try. I'd recommend all the dishes we ordered: -som tum -makuer tod -hoi jor -kung makum -pad Thai w prawns -pad seew w chicken Thank you team Oraan, we'll definitely be returning

sukho thai noodle - best dish, i would highly recommend. the different types of pork on it. the crunchy pork was my favorite and was extremely crunchy despite being inside soup rad nah zen krob (special menu item that started nov 21st!) - a beautiful and very unique dish. i wasn't sure how the wide noodles were going to be crunchy and wide but they were kind of like eating crunchy wonton skin. kapow chicken - decent dish, nothing too out of the ordinary kapow moo krob - solid pieces of pork belly pineapple fried rice - classic fried rice with a pretty strong curry flavor my party of 5 came on a saturday around 12:30pm and got seated with no resy, which was surprising that the restaurant was pretty empty. the waitress was really friendly and she came back to check on us a bunch, food took about 15 minutes to cook. honestly, a pretty solid experience and very surprised it was empty at that time and day. since there was basically only one other party in the restaurant, it was very quiet and enjoyable and the christmas decor was really cute. would definitely recommend for some new and unique dishes.

    - friendly service with a great menu offering interesting dishes and combinations of ingredients - we will return to explore different aspects of cuisine - sometimes we seek comfort in our expectations and traditional flavors and now I can try tastes new to me with excitement.

Had an early dinner here yesterday with a few of my friends. Arrived when they opened and got seated right away. Our party ordered the following: Tom Ka - Thai coconut soup that is spicy and sour hot soup Kapow Moo Krob - crispy pork belly w/ basil in a Thai and chili garlic sauce Hor Mok Bai Tong - their house special steamed mixed seafood with house made red curry, served in banana leaves cups Pad Thai Kung Mar Nam - pad Thai served with two grilled jumbo prawns Mango sticky rice Everything was delicious! My favorite was the Hor Mok Bai Tong. This was something different that I haven't tried at any other Thai restaurant. Overall, food and service were great. Will definitely come back again to try other items on their house specials.

To get the best optimal experience at Khao Tiew, please remember to put your name on the waitlist and to get there on time when your party is close in queue (if you're not there, you're square, no expectations since they have tons of people waiting). I came here on a Monday night with my friend and I put my name down on the waitlist around 5 pm on the yelp app (heads up you have to be one mile away to be applicable to put your name down). Since I have been here before I know the deal and expected the wait. We were seated around 6:40 pm but it was so worth it in our opinions. The shop itself has a good amount of tables with a nice retro Thai feel from its decor. The servers are very nice and friendly but also the food comes out super quick which is what I personally appreciate as well. Here are some highlights from our absolute feast that we demolished (no food was left behind or forgotten). * Nuer nam tok: The medium rare beef was chewy, had the right amount of spice, and paired well with the crunch of the herbs. The saltiness of the meat ate well with the fresh sides of lettuce and cucumbers. * Crispy shrooms with ground pork: The crispy mushrooms were my favorite last time and the version with ground pork was exceptional. The mushrooms had a nice light batter and the sauce coated your mouth with an umami punch. * Drunken noodles: I love the amount of shrimp and calamari they gave! The noodles itself were coated in a semi sweet sauce that had a delicious soy flavor. * Duck curry: WOW the most tender duck dish I ever had, no notes! * Kaya jam with coconut ice cream: Creamy, fluffy, and a great way to end a meal. This dish is so hard to explain in words, you have to get it. Overall, amazing spot, amazing find, would wait 2 hours again for a third time :)

Both are rum-based and had a really nice kick, especially the Soi Ari with the pandan in the aftertaste (which we found super refreshing). Food we ordered were the Nam Tok Beans, the Pad Khee Mao, and the rabbit curry. Both of us love spice so the Nam Tok Beans blew us away! Did not expect that kind of packed flavor at all but it makes a seemingly ordinary bean dish so much more exciting. The noodles were cooked perfectly and made a great in between to the rabbit curry. Which speaking of, oh my god??? SUPER tender and fall off-the-bone. Rabbit can be a hard dish to put on for people who have never tried it, but I really appreciate that it's not as bone-y as other rabbit dishes I've had in the past. It really was like chicken but softer. Wow wow wow. Huge shoutout to our bartender for giving us extra birthday shots on the house. Never had Amaro before tonight but it was delicious. Did not get his name unfortunately but he's fantastic! The reason I give 4 stars despite the great experience was because I noticed less urgency from the host and the servers in terms of getting stuff out. Doesn't help that the place is smaller and more expensive for a Michelin star establishment. Sitting by the bar made a huge difference for us since we had a great experience with our bartender, but I have a feeling that those at regular tables that night might've lost patience with the wait times for certain dishes. TLDR: if you love spicy Thai food, have the money to spend, and aren't in a rush, this place is worth checking out.

The restaurant closes at 9:30pm, and they were kind enough to let us stay until then! I also enjoyed the ambiance - the interior was quite beautiful, and had many floral decorations, which I enjoyed. For food, I got the hot stone pot, which comes with minced pork and prawns. The dish was not only delicious but also was a large portion size. The rice was crispy on the bottom, and it was nice that the server mixed the dish for me on the table. I would definitely come back to try other dishes! One of my friends got the Pad Kee Mow, and she also very much enjoyed her dish, agreeing that it was delicious and that the noodles were perfectly chewy! I would describe the ambiance as "modern cherry blossom" with it's tall ceilings and pop music to boot. I had the popcorn chicken appetizer - very crispy and tasty with the five spice outer coating. It would have been nice to have had a few more vegetables thrown in, especially the broccoli as I counted just a couple of pieces. I did like the tofu although I felt there could have been more and a bit more tender. They could totally redo the front patio dining area as I think it would draw more customers in. The interior is well decorated with Thai culture and with the darker tones of the design, it makes the restaurant feel quite fancy. 4.5/5 - Crispy Pork (Moo Krop) Fried Rice - Very savory fried rice dish. Spiced well and very filling. We didn't expect the pork to be cut so large and mixed into the rice, but it was very tender and easy to still eat. We would've expected the pork to be sliced maybe in half or fourths to make the dish feel like a "pork fried rice" than a fried rice + pork mix, but it still worked well and if you love pork, this will definitely be your fix! 5/5 - Pad Thai - We thought the restaurant nailed this classic noodle dish. Filling portions and did not overcook their noodles. You can taste each component of the dish, which speaks to everything not being under or overcooked. We ordered nuts on the side but you would be quite satisfied ordering this if you like pad thai! 4.5/5 - Pad Gra Prow - Appropriate veggie to beef proportion and very flavorful. Minced well and great to complement with your carb dishes (noodle or rice). We thought the dish was slightly oily but it feels well absorbed when eaten with our pad thai. If you have tried the dish before and would like it, this will be satisfactory!

Appetizers- Shrimp Spring Roll: it was pretty good actually. The stand out for me was the peanut sauce. Absolutely delicious. Overall, 8/10. Entrees: got the crab fried rice to share. The flavor was really good. It didn't have too many of the crab pieces though. I would give it a solid 7/10. Also ordered the green curry with roasted duck, which comes with a side of jasmine rice. The curry was good and the duck was tender. I'd give it a 8/10. I would come back here to try other items on their menu. TBH very reasonable pricing and good value since the portions were generous.

This is the place my parents will think of when they want to go out for a special celebration meal. You always get 6 little dishes of food with each set. Although I say "little" they are actually very filling. Even my dad, who usually eats a lot says it's a good amount of food. Every dish is always amazing! I love the mushroom coconut soup. The protein dish is always amazing. The squash or eggplant (depending on which set you get) is always amazing too. They're very well seasoned but you can still taste freshness of the ingredients. I always grab a Thai Tea and this time I also got a Chrysanthemum tea for my mom. The chrysanthemum tea tastes a like a VitaSoy drink so it's pretty good. We will always come back for another special occasion.

We let our host know we were short on time, and she's very accommodating. Our food arrived quickly with only a short wait. Kutos to the host! The chicken satay came with chicken skewers with house made peanut sauce and pickles. The Cripsy pork belly with cabbage, which came with pork belly, fish sauce, chilli cabbage, and thai scauce. Both tasted really good, but the flaovr was a bit too salty for my taste.
