Such a cute and yummy Thai spot! Portions look small but actually super filling! Book a resy in advance on OpenTable! You can do it the day of but it usually books out before dinner time. The Pork and Beef option was super delicious! We had a sweet white wine on the side that paired perfectly with the meal. Service was super quick and staff were very kind and accommodating. We were one of the last reservations and they did not rush us to finish our food.

Excellent Thai food in a trendy & hip modern ambience with warm hospitality, tasty options, generous portions and reasonable prices. There are menu sets with different dishes in each set to choose from. Meat & veggie options available. My dining companion and I each ordered a different set and shared our dishes. The big bowl of rice includes a trio of white, brown & black rice. The papaya salad, Tofu, eggplant and soups were tasty as were the chicken dish and other side dishes. I like how each set is elegantly served in small dishes & bowls on a tray. I will be back to try more dishes.

Unfortunately I had pretty high expectations here, and it just seemed to miss the mark. Friday evenings are pretty packed, so recommend a reservation. The interior is so beautiful and well decorated, I could admire it forever. The space is very open and they've done a good job making it comforting but not too homey. We got the veg set and the chicken set, and added on the tofu satay and Thai tea. Somehow, the Thai tea was the star of the show. So creamy and not too sweet! The veg set was unfortunately just so much tofu. I wish there were more veggies or even just a curry with potatoes or something to change up the palate. The chicken set was just fine. Everything seemed to be missing just a touch of flavor. The soup is good and the dessert is good, but everything else is just okay and very similar to other restaurants in the city. The tofu satay is also just a lot of .... tofu and not much flavor. I do appreciate the concept of a set meal, so there feels like a lot of potential here!

Very solid spot for a lunch, although a bit on the pricier side. It is tucked into an unassuming alley, but the inside is surprisingly spacious. There may be street parking near, or you can park in the St Mary's Square Garage about 1.5 blocks away. There was only one other table around 11:30am on a Saturday. They had light music playing inside, which was pretty calming. There are also some appetizers you can get in addition to the lunch sets, but we didn't get those (satay, Brussels sprouts, etc). The sets do come with a lot of food, especially if you eat the whole thing. I opted for the pork belly set. The accompaniments were tasty and seasoned well - spicy eggplant (umami and soft) along with the Thai coconut mushroom soup (tangy and slightly creamy). The pork belly itself had a good flavor, but they were on the thinner side. It wasn't like a thick cut pork belly from a Taiwanese or Chinese restaurant, but the flavor was still there. The homemade pudding was a nice dessert - sweet and nutty with some crunchy texture from the sesame seeds and coconut flakes. Overall, everything is solid. I do think the price may deter me slightly from returning unless the portion of meat was more generous. There were a few fruit flies flying around our food while we were eating, which was annoying. Not sure if that's because of the restaurant's location in the alley. It did detract from the overall experience a bit.

Love supporting a women owned business and this place is really cute with their meal sets which range from $28-$39 with different protein varieties. I was torn between the beef or pork, but went with a large group so I was able to try both! I personally preferred the sweeter pork option. The beef was good, but a little harder to eat as it was in a small bowl with curry broth. Service is really quick and the staff is really nice! Would recommend stopping by to have lunch or dinner with friends!

I would say a 3.5 for food. We ordered the chicken set and found that the flavors were bland. Had to ask for hot sauce. Enjoyed my Thai ice tea though. Other than that service was attentive and friendly, and the price point for a set was amazing that included soup, salad, main, a carb and dessert. Space is also airy, modern and large.

went on a weekday and arrived at 11:45 a.m. just before the full lunch rush. Suddenly got crazy busy at 12:05, lots of people showed up with reservations. You cannot order a la carte like a common Thai restaurant, everything on the menu is posed as a " set lunch" for one. The food is delicious, flavorful, and I was able to ask for not too spicy green papaya salad. I did appreciate having 3 different rices. Prices are a little high, so not something I would do everyday, but they do try to elevate it and make it more special by having six different components in the pork belly set that I ordered.

Love the concept of everything coming in a set. It lets you try a bit of everything without overcommitting to a couple of dishes, especially if you aren't in a bigger group. Portion sizes were great, and everything was super flavorful. Everything was very mild and didn't have any spiciness, so if you're looking for heat, you'll have to ask for it. I got the chicken set, and the chicken was very soft. The interior was clean, felt warm, and had plenty of seating. Food: 8.5/10 Service: 10/10 Ambience: 8.5/10

Such a cute spot! Tucked away in an alley, the decor is very nice and feels classy. Service was quick and very friendly. It wasnt too busy when we first arrived near opening time, but quickly filled up! Food came out quickly (probably because everything is in a set). Very cute idea and the sets are well done. A good amount of food, even though it looks small when it comes out. I loved the papaya salad in my set, and the tri-color rice was a fun idea. Unfortunately some of the pork belly pieces were a little hard, but the flavor was good! My friend's ribeye was delicious! A cute spot, worth hitting up with a date or with friends!

This place was so cute! The end of alley way but didn't feel sketchy. I love the presentation and really loved how I can enjoy different dishes unlike other Thai restaurant if you order one item you're so full. The girl working there was so nice and professional.

If you're looking for a cute date night spot or an intimate dinner, Hed verythai is the spot! This cozy restaurant at the end of an alley in the FiDi hit all the spots, from vibes, service and food! We came here on a rainy Tuesday evening shortly after they opened and got seated right away. They do take reservations if you're a Type A person, or if you have a larger party. The menu could be a little complicated, but each set comes with an assortment of foods, along with a small sweet treat! I got the seasonal chicken and pork belly set, and my boyfriend got the beef set. I loved everything in the chicken and crispy pork belly set! I've never had a coconut based soup, but it balanced perfectly with the mushrooms, chicken and cilantro. The crispy pork belly was perfectly cooked and seasoned, with pieces of bell pepper to complement them. The papaya salad was a nice change in flavor while eating, and the brussel sprouts were cooked and seasoned really well, but beware they do have a pretty good kick from the thai chilis. The sticky coconut with longang was a perfect way to wrap everything up with this set. For the beef set, the beef was delicious! It was extremely tender, and I liked the pickled onions mixed in, though my boyfriend wasn't the biggest fan. It came with both squash and eggplant, but if you have texture issues like my boyfriend, I'd recommend to try a different set. The coconut pudding was amazing, and the toasted coconut was great with it. Overall, we thought the beef set could have better accompaniment There was only one server at the tine we got there, and she was extremely kind and attentive! She checked in on us during our meal and filled up our waters without needing to be asked. This place is truly a hidden gem, and definitely needs more recognition! Will 100% be coming back

Papaya salad

Very cool restaurant down an alley street off of Kearney and just within walking distance of the Union Square crowds. They have pre fixed sets of meals that are thoughtful, cute and with a broad range of flavors. Set 1: Beef Includes: Thai curry beef soup - nice chunks and a very good mild curry - mixed well with the three types of rice. Sautéed butternut squash - nice texture and more than you expect. Spicy sautéed eggplant - mushroomy and a tinge of spice. Really, a well done side. Papaya salad - red chile alert! Quite spicy so buyer beware. Rice mix - jasmine, brown and berry. Yes, berry sounds weird but it's super mild. Mango pudding with coconut jelly and black sesame seeds. Yummy! Best part is all these dishes are served simultaneously so feel free to start with dessert!! One thing I didn't like is the management decision to offer free chicken steak for a five star Yelp review. That dilutes the rating system here and not what I would go for. You can ask for a review but can't require a five-star review. So be wary of the legitimacy of some reviews here. Also, there is only one unisex bathroom so budget in wait time and go when you can! That's all.

I've never had northern thai food so I didn't know what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. I loved the set meals and being able to try so many different things. It's also so cute inside, great spot to go with friends or on a date. Great price for what you get as well! The service was friendly and the food came out so quick! Definitely worth a visit!

To get the best optimal experience at Khao Tiew, please remember to put your name on the waitlist and to get there on time when your party is close in queue (if you're not there, you're square, no expectations since they have tons of people waiting). I came here on a Monday night with my friend and I put my name down on the waitlist around 5 pm on the yelp app (heads up you have to be one mile away to be applicable to put your name down). Since I have been here before I know the deal and expected the wait. We were seated around 6:40 pm but it was so worth it in our opinions. The shop itself has a good amount of tables with a nice retro Thai feel from its decor. The servers are very nice and friendly but also the food comes out super quick which is what I personally appreciate as well. Here are some highlights from our absolute feast that we demolished (no food was left behind or forgotten). * Nuer nam tok: The medium rare beef was chewy, had the right amount of spice, and paired well with the crunch of the herbs. The saltiness of the meat ate well with the fresh sides of lettuce and cucumbers. * Crispy shrooms with ground pork: The crispy mushrooms were my favorite last time and the version with ground pork was exceptional. The mushrooms had a nice light batter and the sauce coated your mouth with an umami punch. * Drunken noodles: I love the amount of shrimp and calamari they gave! The noodles itself were coated in a semi sweet sauce that had a delicious soy flavor. * Duck curry: WOW the most tender duck dish I ever had, no notes! * Kaya jam with coconut ice cream: Creamy, fluffy, and a great way to end a meal. This dish is so hard to explain in words, you have to get it. Overall, amazing spot, amazing find, would wait 2 hours again for a third time :)

Both are rum-based and had a really nice kick, especially the Soi Ari with the pandan in the aftertaste (which we found super refreshing). Food we ordered were the Nam Tok Beans, the Pad Khee Mao, and the rabbit curry. Both of us love spice so the Nam Tok Beans blew us away! Did not expect that kind of packed flavor at all but it makes a seemingly ordinary bean dish so much more exciting. The noodles were cooked perfectly and made a great in between to the rabbit curry. Which speaking of, oh my god??? SUPER tender and fall off-the-bone. Rabbit can be a hard dish to put on for people who have never tried it, but I really appreciate that it's not as bone-y as other rabbit dishes I've had in the past. It really was like chicken but softer. Wow wow wow. Huge shoutout to our bartender for giving us extra birthday shots on the house. Never had Amaro before tonight but it was delicious. Did not get his name unfortunately but he's fantastic! The reason I give 4 stars despite the great experience was because I noticed less urgency from the host and the servers in terms of getting stuff out. Doesn't help that the place is smaller and more expensive for a Michelin star establishment. Sitting by the bar made a huge difference for us since we had a great experience with our bartender, but I have a feeling that those at regular tables that night might've lost patience with the wait times for certain dishes. TLDR: if you love spicy Thai food, have the money to spend, and aren't in a rush, this place is worth checking out.

The restaurant closes at 9:30pm, and they were kind enough to let us stay until then! I also enjoyed the ambiance - the interior was quite beautiful, and had many floral decorations, which I enjoyed. For food, I got the hot stone pot, which comes with minced pork and prawns. The dish was not only delicious but also was a large portion size. The rice was crispy on the bottom, and it was nice that the server mixed the dish for me on the table. I would definitely come back to try other dishes! One of my friends got the Pad Kee Mow, and she also very much enjoyed her dish, agreeing that it was delicious and that the noodles were perfectly chewy! I got the French 75 as a drink, and it was very good as well! Overall, I would definitely come back, especially to try the brunch, which I've heard many good things about! Truly a 10/10 experience!

It would have been nice to have had a few more vegetables thrown in, especially the broccoli as I counted just a couple of pieces. I did like the tofu although I felt there could have been more and a bit more tender. They could totally redo the front patio dining area as I think it would draw more customers in. Overall the customer service was good and I would come back to try other dishes - I'd say the popcorn chicken was my favorite.

We would've expected the pork to be sliced maybe in half or fourths to make the dish feel like a "pork fried rice" than a fried rice + pork mix, but it still worked well and if you love pork, this will definitely be your fix! 5/5 - Pad Thai - We thought the restaurant nailed this classic noodle dish.
