I thoroughly enjoyed everything that we ordered: - Chicken satay was good but the chicken was a bit dry--had the most amazing peanut sauce though! and I found myself reusing the peanut sauce for other dishes as well - Tom Kha with prawns wasn't my favorite, as it was a bit too acidic and I didn't get enough of the coconut-y flavor - Pad Kee Mao was probably my favorite! I liked the wide chewy noodles, and it tasted really fresh. It was more on the sweeter side than what I'm used to. The slices of beef were also tender and there was a good amount of veggies sprinkled in - Pad Kaprow was quite solid and had a nice gentle kick to it (we got mild spice). I thought there were a lot more pieces of beef than I expected, but it was definitely more tough than the beef from the pad kee mao. This paired super well with some jasmine rice! read more

Must order: Crispy Oven Baked Pork Belly: perfection with crispy exterior skin, fat to meat ratio. there are two choices for sauce: opted for the green beans for extra veggies. 1)chili garlic and basil 2hot chili paste and green beans Pad kee mao: fresh wide rice chewy noodles, slight sweet flavor to the sauce, marinated pieces of beef was tender Panang curry: could be more creamy and fragrant, would try a different curry next time. Taro sticky rice: coconut ice cream on top with taro inside the sticky rice. Twist on a classic dessert Service was excellent. Water was refilled multiple times. Plates with new utensils and napkins were changed for dessert. The layout of the restaurant is reminiscent of a long hallway as the patrons walk past the kitchen to the tables. Been meaning to try this place and it was a perfect opportunity since we had spent the day right at Golden Gate Park across the street. Service: 10/10 staff was super welcoming Food: For appetizers, we got the summer rolls. Comes with your typical peanut sauce. No complaints here. Nice and refreshing. For our main dishes we ordered the Har Mok, which is a steamed snapper fish with curry. I would definitely come and order this again! Well seasoned, perfect amount of spice, and good amount of food. I'd give it a solid 8.5/10. (FYI you have to order the steamed rice separately). Second dish we got was the Pak Kaprow with roasted duck. It's a stir fry with bell peppers, onion, and tomato. You get to choose the level of spiciness which is nice, and from a scale of 1-5, I chose 3 and it was quite spicy (but I loved it). If you're not great with spice, it's probably best to order a spice level of 1. The amount of duck was pretty generous. It was a little on the saltier side but other than that I'd give it a 7/10. Drink: Got the Thai tea- I will say it's on the sweeter side. I probably should've asked for less milk so it wouldn't be as sweet. Nonetheless I'd give it a 7/10. I love this place! We often go there for lunch. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They have a diverse range of options on their menu including vegetarian dishes. First time trying a Thai style tea leaf salad and it was good! It was very similar to the Burmese tea leaf salad but with more of a kick. The fried rice was the best dish we ordered because you can just taste that it was fried in a wok. The pad thai did not taste as authentic as expected but it was still very flavored. My partner gives the spicy Tofu Angel Wings an extra nod for the spicy and the chili sauce provided table side extras spicy. Came here with our family when visiting SF. Great location in the inner sunset, a block from Golden Gate park. Solid Thai place in a very competitive city when it comes to food quality. Service is . We thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes except for the Hotcakes. Seems to be lacking flavors and somewhat undercooked for my liking. Pad Krapow (Spicy Thai basil pork) (4.5/5) - not pictured as we were so excited to eat and forgot to take photo of the dish. Flavor is great and has decent amount of food. I just came back from visiting Thailand. The flavor of this dish comes very close to what we have had in Thailand. Hotcakes (2/5) - disappointing dish to say the least. I love all the ingredients this dish carries but it is truly lacking flavor and textures. It's on their daily special menu but I would pass on it. Spicy Angel wings (4.5/5) - very good! Love the flavor and the fried basil leaves. The wing itself is moist and the sauce is flavorful. It's saucy so if you like it that way, it's a great dish. As for me, I would love to still experience the crisp ones texture so I'd prefer a little less sauce. Solid dish otherwise. Green Mango salad (4/5) - refreshing salad which great flavor and sour from the fresh lime juice. You and opt in to include protein. We added prawns and it's grilled to perfection. Mango sticky rice (4.5/5) - overall a very good dish. sticky rice cooked and seasoned well with coconut milk with a hint of sweet and saltiness. Mango was perfectly ripen' Wish there was more of it!! Pad Thai (3.5/5) - while we enjoyed their pad Thai, it wasn't anything special. The dish comes with a lot of noodle so that's great. Somewhat saucy (but not salty) so if you like that, you'll love this dish. I somehow expected more from this establishment. read more

I tried Marnee Thai during my first trip to San Francisco. It's conveniently located near Golden Gate Park and I just stumbled upon it. It's small, but very beautifully decorated inside with artwork and low lighting. There's a surprising amount of seating available. Our server was very nice and prompt with taking our order and filling water. The food was ready quickly too. I tried the tofu pad Thai and loved every bite. The tofu was perfectly crispy and I appreciated the variety of vegetables in the pad Thai while they remained light on the bean sprouts. Grabbed lunch here while exploring Golden Gate Park. Stopped in around 11:30 there wasn't much of a crowd, but by the time I left they were filling up fast. Opted for homemade pancakes with coconut and pumpkin, banana yellow curry with chicken, basil chicken stir fry, and topped it off with Thai tea. The coconut banana (plantain) curry was so good with a mixture of heat and sweet that made me keep going back for more. The stir fry had some green peppercorns included that added a flavor that made it unique. Let's talk about the homemade pancakes...YUM. Sweet coconut cream, corn and pumpkin. Who knew it went together? It is something I will keep my eye out for in the future. The staff were friendly. It is a smaller restaurant tucked in to others along ninth avenue, but comfortable and easy accessed. If you happen to be in the area, stop and check them out. Well worth it. read more

Chose this place on a whim while on vacation. We got seated and served very quickly. I have a gluten sensitivity and our server was very knowledgeable about what contains gluten. I ended up getting the Chan pad poo and it was delicious! Large portion, hot, and fresh. The ambience in the restaurant itself was very comfortable, it's very clean and felt cozy. Marnee Thai was the first restaurant I dined in at when I moved to SF! I stumbled upon it on Yelp and have been going back consistently for a few years now. My favorite item to order is always the Pad Thai with either shrimp or chicken. Their Pad Thai sauce has the right amount of tang and sweetness while the noodles are perfectly cooked to be slightly chewy! Whenever I come, whether it's lunch or dinner, there's typically no wait. This was one of the first Thai restaurants I experienced over 20 years ago, and it's remained a favorite ever since. My friends and I used to come here all the time. Back when it was in its prime and there was always a line out the door. It's a true SF staple! The place may feel small when you step inside, but it's cozy and welcoming. The vibe is no-frills and uncomplicated. Just good and honest Thai food. I've always enjoyed their dishes every time I visit. Came on a Sunday for lunch and it was pretty empty. We got seated right away. Our group of 4 ordered 1 corn cake appetizer, 1 tom kha, 3 noodle dishes, a fish dish with a curry mousse from the specials menu. These were all very filling, but we were able to finish them. The best dishes we had were the Pad See Ew and Pad Thai. Both very distinctly flavorful. The Yellow Curry and Thai Fried Rice were okay. They were over-salted, but still had flavor. It's been a while since I've eaten at Marnee Thai in person as we always get take out, but we had guests visiting. We were able to get a table for 4 fairly quickly without any reservation. We ordered our favorite angel wings and pad Thai but this time tried the coconut noodles which was surprising and tasty, and a pork belly special to go with the white rice. I usually love their green chicken curry, but didn't order it on this visit. As always, everything was fresh and delicious, and dining in meant the angel wings were perfectly hot and crispy. Spice levels were mild and manageable but you can request to level this up if you want. Wish I had room for their mango sticky rice, but there's always next time. read more

I attended an evening event at the California Academy of Sciences & originally wanted to come here in the evening, but they close at 8:30 and we were not allowed to leave and come back. My friend suggested having delivery to the museum. I asked the museum staff that was possible and they said it could be delivered to the door. I ordered via Uber eats with specific instructions for the delivery person and it worked out. I got two of my favorites which are shrimp, pad, Thai and angel wings. I really wanted the coconut, sticky rice with mango for dessert, but it wasn't available for delivery. Our food was piping hot when we received it. This restaurant location is very close to Golden Gate Park, which helped. The Pad Thai was as delicious as I remember. The angel wings were nice and crispy in a spiced honey glaze. The angel wings are available to order as mild, medium or hot, and I chose mild because I have a dainty palette. With nice Thai wall art, this space's interior is more worn than the one on Irving Street, but more lively with a young crowd. The service is cordial and efficient. The three of us came here for lunch. We went to the De Young Museum to view an exhibit so it was so convenient to walk over here for lunch rather than driving over. We're so happy to have finally gone for the Fourth Of July! We came to Marnee Thai on a holiday and boy was it packed! The restaurant is popular for dine-in and take-out orders but they do a good job with customer turnaround. Right when you walk in you're met with aromatic scents of food cooking. The restaurant is super casual, and homey, and has plenty of tables for smaller parties. Throughout our meal, the service was pleasant. Our requests were met, the water was constantly filled, and our food came out fast! We chose to share their Avocado and Green Mango Salad and Kang Ka Ree with Chicken. The avocado mango salad was a salad I'd never seen before and a mix of everything I love to eat! Colorful bits of avocado, mango, and shrimp are tossed together making it sweet, tangy, and crunchy. The yellow curry we got was mild spice and perfect as we both don't handle heat well. It was creamy from the coconut milk, well-spiced, and light but still rich. We got a side of Brown Rice to share making it a comforting meal. Portions were perfect to fill us up plus leftovers! If we were to come back together, I'd love to try their other curries or noodle dishes! If you're scouting for Thai food in the Inner Sunset District, Marnee Thai has two locations (parking on the street)! This restaurant is a great choice for either lunch or dinner serving appetizers, curries, noodles, and rice dishes. Plus lots of awesome entrees for meat, vegetarian, and vegan diners!
