We went here on a Saturday around 3:15pm and there was no wait! The restaurant looks small inside, but I liked the amount of seating available. Anyways, we were quickly seated and were told to pick a spot to sit at since the restaurant was empty when we arrived. While looking through the menu, I noticed the menu didn't have as many sushi options compared to other places. I was still ok with the lack of options since I tend to always order my usual rolls anyways. We ordered the Dragon Roll and the Lion King Roll. Both of the sushi rolls were smaller than we expected, but at least it tasted good and held together well. I really liked how the tempura in my Dragon Roll still had a nice crunch to it and also how the Lion King Roll wasn't too overly saucy. I do wish the sushi was a bit larger though, since that would make it feel more worth it for the price paid. Decent size fish, but I actually could have used a little more rice with each Nigiri. But overall, we were happy. Caterpillar - One of my guest's favorites. Again, done well, fresh, and of decent quantity. Romeo & Juliet - I honestly do not think I have ever gotten this roll before. It was my favorite. Not just because of the freshness and decent quality, but because it was new to me, and a good combination of a roll. There are a couple of rolls I have also never tried before. But that just means I have to come back soon. Atmosphere - Very small local business. 4 booths and 4 counter seating. Not even a sushi bar... Very limited street parking; I had to park 2 blocks away. Open 6 days a week for dinner only, see Yelp. Closed on Wednesdays. Service - Good. Both team members greeted us when we entered. We were the only customers. Our waters were refilled often. It's not the greatest quality sushi but good enough. The ngiri and sashimi were Kukje Market quality. Not bad at all! The sashimi was better than the ngiri. I'm glad the ngiri set had scallop and unagi in it, but the scallop had a some what fish-y taste. You can never go wrong with sake (salmon). Unagi was delicious! Kukje most likely sells $20 for a platter like this. It was like, do I really wana drive all the way to Daly City at this time? Or just chill at home and have the food come to me? Sooo.. I paid $10 extra and ordered from here lol The california roll WOW'd me!!! From the crab meat, avocado and the sushi rice. It was lowkey melting in my mouth and flavors were on point! Definitely the food here does NOT lack in taste nor presentation. Sushi Platter (5 pc nigiri - Chefs choice w/ California roll) the nigiris tasted fresh. My favorites were the salmon and tuna. The California roll was so good. Just a note: their California roll is made w/ imitation crab, but it tastes a lot better than other sushi spots I have been to. Vegetable Croquettes, in which you get 2 pcs for an appetizer, were so crunchy on the outside and the filling tasted just right. Not soggy. I should have ordered another. It was that good. Sashimi-grade scallops - first time ever having this kind of sashimi and it was so good! Tempura shrimp was a crispy on the outside and the shrimp was cooked good very well. My opinion, it was just right. I hate overly breaded and overly salted tempura and this hit the spot! For an appetizer, you get 3 pieces. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area.
