The sashimi and shrimp is fresh. Friendly staff On the right of the door there's a window booth area that lets you sit on the floor, for a big group. Shoes off Look for specials on the wall Uni is delicious yum always a good treat

I'm still dreaming about this meal! I haven't had sushi wow me in a minute, this was such a treat. This local mom and pop has been running since 1998- I really enjoyed the cozy ambiance and warm service. The waitress was very attentive and quick to refill our waters. I loved every bite I had this night. First of all, look at the presentation of everything and tell me you wouldn't devour everything. The sashimi was really fresh and melted in your mouth. I loved my uni spoon so much I could not get enough. We tried a variety of rolls recommended by the chef and finished every last piece! Do yourself a favor and try the butterfish :) The clam soup was also refreshing and balanced all the dishes perfectly. I can't wait to come back next time!

Not photographed were the 3 nigiri we ordered- hamachi, Tobago & Tobiko. Its been a long time since I have been truly impressed by a new spot. We happened upon this place while out and about. Everything was delicious! The rolls were very generously filled and large. The fish was excellent - hamachi was legit like butter soft and just fresh and delicious. This place had great food at an extremely reasonable price (our bill was $93 for 3 rolls, 2 edamame, a miso soup, 3 nigiri and 3 drinks including one alcoholic one) please note if you can't handle spice- maybe don't order things with jalapenos or Sriracha because they do not skimp on the spice- truly perfect (but I like brown people level of spice) cannot rave enough. Service was fast, kind and efficient we went on a Saturday night and the place got full really quickly.. definitely chill ambiance - sorta hole in the wall huge mix of people. Mostly locals.

Tazaki Combo BBQ Short Ribs, Salad, Vegetable Tempura and Salmon Sashimi

I was looking for a sushi place for dinner and a Yelp search brought me to this place. I picked it based on reviews. It's hard to find parking around this area, but there were quite a few people who did take out and just double parked real quick. I can see why because this place did not disappoint! The interior is more spacious than I thought it would be. This place would be great for groups and family dinners. The murals are very SF themed and I loved looking at them. The staff here are very nice and polite. The food came out promptly. The portion sizes were generous. For the price, it was really good and worth it. The combo had BBQ short ribs and they were tender and flavorful. The salmon sashimi were thick and melt in your mouth. The salad was fresh and had just the right amount of dressing. The vegetable tempura had a great variety and each one was fried to perfection. The combo also came with miso soup and the choice of green tea or chocolate ice cream for dessert. The Totoro maki was very fatty toro. This restaurant did not skimp. The pine nuts gave it an interesting texture. The Philadelphia roll had a good amount of cream cheese and the avocado added to the creaminess. Cherry blossom was probably my favorite in terms of just being a good roll. I would love to come here again. I am glad I found it. Unfortunately it may be overshadowed by the restaurants right next door, but please give this place some love and you will not regret it!

Our party of 13 made reservations the same night. Everyone commented on how good the food was. It was decent before but much better now. Must be a different cook and better menu because everything tasted so good. We enjoyed the combination bento boxes, chirashi bowl, California roll (made with real crab inside and not imitation!), and ramen. I feel lucky this is just a short walk away from us. The bento combination boxes for less than $25 each were worth it because they same with so much-- 3 items, salad, miso, and ice cream (the green tea ice cream is really good!) No need to hassle with finding parking on a Saturday night in San Francisco! I will be back.

One of my favorite neighborhood spots! Owner is the best. Used to come in all the time solo to treat myself to sushi. Haven't been here in about a year but he still remembered me! Came over to ask how come I haven't been in and poured up a new drink for my friend and I to try. We ordered two rounds of nigiri and each piece was as delectable as the next. So fresh and the size of their nigiri is perfection. Definitely stop by if you're craving sushi in the outer sunset!

I come here after a long day of work since it's just a few blocks from my house. I typically get the donburi and maybe a California roll. The donburi is always solid and satisfying. Nothing fancy and a decent price. Staff is friendly and food comes out relatively quickly depending on how busy they are. Will have to come dine in sometime!

With family in town visiting and asking for sushi, I thought of Tazaki Sushi, which is just a two block walk from my house. Conveniently located along the N-Judah line, it's very accessible via public transportation, as well. I called ahead three weeks in advance to see if they took reservations for a party of five because I just wanted to make sure that we'd have a table for our party of five and the man who picked up the phone said they did. He took my info and we show up three weeks later. Immediately after walking in the door, I see our table with a nice "RESERVED" sign on it. So, all good there. We were all looking through the menu and thinking of each of us ordering individual items, but then we saw the Ume Sushi Combo. It serves 5-6 people and includes the following: Dragon, Spider, Catepillar, and Cherry Blossom rolls and six nigiri pieces each of Unagi (bbq eel), Sake (salmon), Hamachi (tuna), Maguro (fatty belly of tuna), Tobiko (flying fish roe), and Hirame (flounder). It's $145.99 on the menu and which would mean about $30 a person. I don't think each of could order any better for $30, so this group platter is the way to go if you like most kinds of sushi and don't like to fuss with all that individual ordering. For appetizers, we got a Large Shrimp Tempura (4 pieces of tempura shrimp, 6 pieces of tempura vegetable) and also a order of Potato Croquettes (panko-encrusted softened potato). I know this might not be helpful to say, but everything was on point and super-delicious. I can't criticize it because the flavors were exceptionally good. Here's what I would say. If you're familiar with the Sunset's other longtime popular sushi place Noriega Teriyaki House, on Noriega and 25th Ave., this Tazaki Sushi place is decidedly better--both in flavor and value. I'm not sure why we haven't been patronizing Tazaki Sushi already since we've lived just two blocks away for the past 20 years, but we will definitely be back, and soon!

Still my FAVORITE place in the city for sushi. The fish is SO fresh. The 49er roll has scallops - you can't get this anywhere else. The service is always friendly and prompt. It's not the fanciest place but that means it's more affordable than other places. What matters isn't the ambiance but the quality of the fish, and you will get that every time!

Chirashi bowl & salmon-scallop sushi
Yoojin S.

AMAZING CHIRASHI! Their chirashi has cuts of fresh fish and UNI? And the uni was GOOD. What a delightful serendipitous surprise. We shared the Chirashi and the salmon-scallop roll (it was only two pieces but the pieces were huge and really tasty!). Chirashi at $29 with uni is probably one of the best deals at a sushi place. They also gave us some matcha ice cream on the house for dessert. This place is so generous, much love for Tazaki Sushi.

My friend after a hearty meal

How are the noodles?

Noodles are good. You have to like the taste of them in different soups and spices.

Are they open for indoor dining?

Depends. They certainly have signage indicating that but when I went last week the answer was no. They were doing delivery only DESPITE a number of signs saying you could eat inside with vacc card.

Does this place have natto?

We were seated pretty quickly on a Sunday evening, and there were a couple of other parties there. They had a sign advertising a special where you can order two items from a list and it comes with soup, salad, and rice, but we ended up just splitting two house special rolls - the Salmon Mango roll and Rock N Roll roll (tuna, avocado, spicy mayo). Both were delicious. I particularly liked the Salmon Mango roll - it was a perfect mix of sweet and savory. The rolls came with 8 pieces each and each piece was a good size, so it was plenty for two of us. I also got a Sapporo beer (bottle) to sip on. Overall, good experience - quick, efficient service and satisfying meal.

From the moment we sat down, the sushi train immediately caught everyone's attention. Once we submit our order in the iPad, the bullet style train brought the food to our table. It made the whole meal feel interactive and exciting, especially for a family night out. The robot food server was also a huge hit at our table. It added a fun, modern touch and definitely made the experience memorable. It's not every day your food is delivered by a robot and train. It brought a lot of smiles and conversation to the table. On top of the entertainment, the food itself was fresh and delicious. There was a great variety of sushi to choose from, and everything we tried was flavorful and well-prepared. I think the combination of good food, unique service, and a lively atmosphere made this a standout dining experience. If you're looking for a place that's both fun and tasty especially with family, Hikari Sushi & Bar is definitely worth a visit!

I think expectations are usually low when going to these types of spots but given the quality and price, it's actually pretty surprising. I usually stop by for dinner on weeknights. It can get busy sometimes but I've never waited more than 10-15 minutes. Service is quick and friendly. The goal is to get you seated and taken care of right away. Once you sit down, it's game on. Chefs are busting out all different kinds of dishes for you to try. They also take requests if there's something on the menu you'd like to try. I love not having to commit to a roll and being able to try a ton of different things. Admittedly, I keep coming back for the seared walu. The plate color lets you know the price of what you're getting. Most plates come with 2-4 pieces and run from $3 - $8. I can make this dinner as cheap or expensive as I'd like!

Courteous, polite service. They provided a wet towelette for us to wipe our fingers and instructed us to eat each sushi piece in one bite. The temperature of the fish was not too warm and not too cold. I loved the variety of sashimi offered, especially the charred ones! Out of all the dishes, the smoked trout with the egg yolk and the Hokkaido scallop stood out. Only dish I wasn't too crazy about was the squid and pickled lotus root/eggplant, which was shocking to me since I normally love all those things! The texture of the pickled lotus was starchy.
