A delicious sando spot. I got there around 2 PM, and there was a long line outside the store. I was really glad I had placed an order online in advance for pickup. The space is very small and has limited seating for indoor dining. I ordered two savory sandwiches: tonkatsu with pineapple, and potato & egg salad. I also got a musubi with unagi, spam, and egg. This wasn't on my radar. I just so happened to walk past it. Of course the line outside peaked my interest. Small space, consistent flow of customers, and busy workers fulfilling in-store and online orders. Had myself the Matcha Latte with Strawberry Cream. Not a huge matcha fan but I appreciate the smoothness in this drink. Not as earthy as other matcha drinks I've had. The strawberry cream for me elevated the drink. I tried their Katsu with pineapple sando. Katsu could've been more crispier and warm. Sure it tasted okay but it's a messy one to eat. With each bite the ingredients fell out. Making it challenging to eat. Thankfully I snagged the only high top table inside the shop. Hopefully I didn't look like a fool trying to eat it haha I doubt I'd order it again. Also ordered two onigiris: salmon and chicken curry. There was a bit of a wait for this order. Not sure why. My favorites out of the items I ordered. Both had a generous amount of filling and the rice ratio imo was just right. The salmon was just right, not fishy nor full of sauce. The chicken curry had a subtle curry flavor. I came here to try their drinks and sandos after hearing many good things about Tadaima! We placed our order, and it took about 10 minutes for our two drinks and tonkatsu sando to be ready. Inside is extremely small with limited seating, but we ate at a park nearby. The drinks were good! We got a matcha and hojicha. The main issue was that they were both watery. Service: Food / drinks ordered via a worker at the front with a menu to the left to see options available. Staff were friendly and helpful during interaction. Wait time: Not an extremely long wait between ordering and receiving food and drink. A buzzer is given to you which rings when your food is completed. Food: The yuzu salmon onigiri had a decent serving of salmon inside and on top of the rice. Good salmon flavor but slightly lacking in yuzu flavor. Chicken Curry onigiri: a mild curry flavor which again had a decent rice to chicken ratio. The chicken did taste slightly dry despite the curry sauce likely due to the nature of being a ground meat. Matcha Latte c Pistachio Cream was easily one of the best tasting matcha drinks I have had in SF. The matcha had a strong flavor and the pistachio cream did not overpower the taste of the matcha. There was a nice sweet, slightly salty, and pistachio flavor from the cream and the addition of the crushed pistachios was not a weird texture for the drink. Came here not too long after they first opened so the craze was definitely still there. We went around 2pm, and the line was out the door. It took around 30 minutes (or maybe even more) to order and get the drinks. The store is tiny so don't plan on sitting inside. I got the iced matcha latte with strawberry cream. We ended up staying at the shop for a bit because we decided to order more, which turned out to be a good thing, we realized our order was actually incorrect. We were given an Unagi Musubi without the avocado, and one bacon, spam and egg musbi was missing entirely. Luckily, since we were still there, we were able to get it sorted out quickly. Definitely recommend checking your bag before you leave! Also, a small note on the Spam Musubi with Avocado: it tasted great, but the avocado had already turned black. Tadaima is a great spot for matcha! The service is great all the cashiers that have taken my order have been very sweet. It's a small space with a couple seats inside and very little standing room but it's cute dark green and natural wood asthetic. I would recommend any of their matchas and chicken sando. I especially love the pistachio matcha latte. I haven't had any of their fruit Sandos so I can't say for those. But generally their milk bread is so fluffy and they don't skip on meat. I've tried their shrimp and pork katsu sandwiches but by the time I tried them they were cold and a little hard so the savory Sandos are very much made to eat asap imo. The misubis and onigiris aren't really that good and aren't worth the price imo but are very filling if you want a quick snack. The pineapple adds a different flavor and makes a tasty bite with the fried pork cutlet. They also offer sweet sandos with fruit and cream so that is an option as well. Another favorite were the onigiri, the onigiri are a solid on the go snack and the beef, chicken, or salmon are a hit. You have to buy two at a time so you'll have a snack for later. They also have musubi which are similar to other places and look good but I'm use to island prices so this was not for me. I would definitely come back to Tadaima, but not necessarily for the matcha. Our drinks were good with no real complaints, but the standout of the visit was the sando. I've heard this place can get quite busy, but since I'm visiting from out of town, I came on a Friday right around opening and it was pretty manageable. There were only a few people ahead of us and we were able to grab window seating inside, which was perfect. The katsu sando was phenomenal. One issue I often run into with Japanese-style sandos in the U.S. is the bread. It can be dry or not quite the soft milk bread texture you'd expect, but that wasn't the case here. The bread was soft and slightly thicker, which worked well with the fillings. The karaage was incredibly tender and juicy while still crispy, and the slaw and sauces added a really nice balance of savory sweetness and acidity. The drinks were well made and tasted high quality, but next time I'd definitely focus more on trying additional food items. read more

I then I got the chicken karaage sando and it was savory and the chicken had a bit of a crunchy batter it had house sauce and had a purple colored cabbage. Overall a good place to pick up matcha in the Mission because I feel Tadaima , I am home. The cafe is quite small inside so when it gets busy it's get cramped inside. The service was simple quick and easy. Got the chicken katsu Sando and the yuzu salmon onigiri. Delicious!!!! The onigiri came in a pair and looked deceptively light but was good for a meal in itself. Neither flavor overpowering - onigiri was perfectly balanced and came with brown/wild rice instead of the regular polished white. The chicken sando was light with the soft bread and the chicken katsu was not greasy too. Will definitely try again and get the fish katsu sando next time at their inner sunset location. First time at Tadaima! I came here with my friend on a Sunday around 1 pm and we waited about 20 min in line. Once you order the drinks come out fast! We both really liked our drinks. I had the Jasmine Tea w/ Matcha Cream (4/5) which was perfectly sweet. I really liked how well the Jasmine and matcha paired together. My friend also really liked her Matcha w/ Strawberry Cream! I should've known better when I saw the color...It was very bitter as expected. Maybe it just wasn't a good day? But the color of the matcha looked very oxidized, like it wasn't stored correctly. Maybe my matcha standards are just high because I've had matcha in Japan? Lol For food, I ordered the strawberry and cream sando and the egg and potato salad sando. The sandos were amazing and I would definitely come back for them. I also want to try the other sandos and onigiris next time. My friend really enjoyed his hojicha so maybe I'll get that next time. The salted cream kindve sunk to the bottom so next time I think I would stir then drink unless you like it separate. I also tried the spam musabi which was really good. The texture of the rice was perfect was good and the spices from spam and egg blended well with the rice. I also tried soft shell onigilly Which was soo fire! I had to buy two bc I guess you can only in pairs so I got the yuzu salmon. A little dry for my liking. Pretty bummed about my experience here. This restaurant has so much hype. I see long lines from all the time, and I finally got around to trying it, and it was just okay. The first time I came here, I got the strawberry matcha latte with my friends. We ordered it via delivery on DoorDash, and I'm not sure if it's just the whole delivery part, but I could not taste any part of the strawberry! It just tasted like regular cream on top. Typically I'm more of a coffee person than matcha, so I'm not a great judge in whether this was good matcha or not. But I guess it did taste ok in my opinion. The funny thing is, my coworker also said the same thing when she ordered the strawberry matcha latte a separate time! Disappointing. A separate time, we also ordered from them via delivery. This time I was eager to try their food items instead, since they have a pretty interesting selection, like those cake sandwiches and various Japanese items. I got the spam masubi, which I thought would be a solid choice. It did arrive warm, but the slice of spam that was in the masubi was so thin! It was the thinnest piece of spam I had ever gotten, and I've gotten spam masubis at a variety of places including ABC stores and other places in Hawaii, and even various stores in the States. The rice was okay, some brown rice thing with seasoning, that was decent but not my preferred white rice. Overall my two times here have been disappointing.
