Personally, I tend to prefer a stronger, more earthy matcha flavor, but I can definitely see this being a great spot for people who enjoy sweeter matcha treats. The food is tasty when it's done right, but unfortunately the quality is really inconsistent. I order from here at least once every couple of weeks, and the bread can be completely different each time. Sometimes it's perfect, sometimes it's way too hard, and other times it's soggy. Today was especially disappointing. My onigiri actually fell out of the box. The outer bag had been stapled shut, but the food boxes inside weren't sealed, which doesn't seem like a great packaging choice for takeout. Staples around food packaging also make me a little uncomfortable. The yuzu salmon also tasted noticeably fishier than usual today. Tagged along with my friend who wanted matcha. I love matcha, but I've been whisking mine at home lately. When I saw the line at Tadaima I knew I had to try it too! I am rarely in SF...so naturally the fomo got to me. My friend ordered the hojicha latte and the matcha latte with strawberry cream. He also wanted a dirty matcha cream latte so I went ahead and ordered that one. Turns out I did not like the dirty matcha at all (the espresso overpowered the matcha imo) and ended up trading it for his matcha latte with strawberry cream. The latter was much better, although I have to say that the matcha here is not as strong as I personally prefer. I usually whisk my own matcha at home, and I prefer a grassy, non-nutty matcha. This drink tasted pretty good, but the matcha is too subtle, and similar to the dirty matcha, the other ingredient took over. The store itself is very small, and there is no indoor seating - it is more of an order, grab, and go type of establishment. It didn't taste overly sweet. I also really liked the taste of the matcha they used. They also offer food and sandwiches, but we weren't able to try those during this visit. My my my Tadaima. I finally got the chance to try Tadaima, the gorg San Francisco restaurant, this one specifically located on Mission and yum! I got both a savory and sweet sandwich for balance and they both did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed these sandwiches at Dolores Park, what more could you want? Imagine that. The menu items are all so diverse and the service is impressively quick for the amount of demand they have. The chicken filet karage sandwich had such great textures from the bread to the chicken to the sauce to the veggies, it was doing salsa in my mouth. I loved the experience of this savory sandwich, i will say the flavor is very tame and not super strong but the textures make up for it 100%. It took around 30 minutes (or maybe even more) to order and get the drinks. The store is tiny so don't plan on sitting inside. I got the iced matcha latte with strawberry cream. Tadaima is a great spot for matcha! The service is great all the cashiers that have taken my order have been very sweet. It's a small space with a couple seats inside and very little standing room but it's cute dark green and natural wood asthetic. I would recommend any of their matchas and chicken sando. I especially love the pistachio matcha latte. I haven't had any of their fruit Sandos so I can't say for those. But generally their milk bread is so fluffy and they don't skip on meat. I've tried their shrimp and pork katsu sandwiches but by the time I tried them they were cold and a little hard so the savory Sandos are very much made to eat asap imo. Don Juan de La Matcha had to get some green matcha drink for St. Patrick's Day. I got the Matcha Latte with salted cheese cream. The drink was smooth not too sweet and a bit cheesy like some in SF. I then I got the chicken karaage sando and it was savory and the chicken had a bit of a crunchy batter it had house sauce and had a purple colored cabbage. Overall a good place to pick up matcha in the Mission because I feel Tadaima , I am home. I would definitely come back to Tadaima, but not necessarily for the matcha. Our drinks were good with no real complaints, but the standout of the visit was the sando. I've heard this place can get quite busy, but since I'm visiting from out of town, I came on a Friday right around opening and it was pretty manageable. There were only a few people ahead of us and we were able to grab window seating inside, which was perfect. The katsu sando was phenomenal. One issue I often run into with Japanese-style sandos in the U.S. is the bread. It can be dry or not quite the soft milk bread texture you'd expect, but that wasn't the case here. The bread was soft and slightly thicker, which worked well with the fillings. The karaage was incredibly tender and juicy while still crispy, and the slaw and sauces added a really nice balance of savory sweetness and acidity. The cafe is quite small inside so when it gets busy it's get cramped inside. The service was simple quick and easy.
