One of those places where I wish I didn't leave tips upfront. Absolutely pathetic service where workers just getting by. I came with two little kids and asked if ice cream can be split into two cups. The guy at register said "sure, we can do that". Girl with purple hair hands me full ice cream and on my question if it's half portion with annoyed face gives me another cup. On my question if I can have a spoon was short "right there" not even pointing me any direction. By the time I found plastic sticks on the counter in a busy crowd handling two little kids crying for ice cream I was ready to throw it out. What a shame, I don't expect 5 star service but simply splitting ice cream, giving me a spoon or just pay any attention to me as a customer would be enough for those tips that they asked upfront. And they don't skimp on the matcha because it still tastes strong and you can see how green it is. The drink was a perfect amount of sweetness too. The shop is located inside the Japan Center Malls in Japantown, with plenty of food court seating nearby. I ordered the strawberry matcha latte ($7.90). Unfortunately, I wasn't super impressed with it. The strawberry puree tasted really fresh, and I loved the natural creaminess from the Hokkaido milk, but the drink was quite milky overall. While it was still enjoyable, I was disappointed that I couldn't taste much matcha. I'm hoping I just caught them on an off day, since I've heard the Palo Alto location is more consistent.
