We visited Thai Time on a Sunday evening for dinner. The slightly cramped restaurant was fairly empty but there were lots of takeout orders. We ordered a pad see ew and pad thai, both of which we asked for spicy, and I would say they delivered. For both the noodle dishes, the flavor was solid and as mentioned, the spice level was perfect. I would say I have quite a high spice tolerance and it was hot enough to make me sweat a little bit. The portion sizes were quite large as well, which is a huge plus. If there was one thing I could critique, it would be that the pad see ew noodles were cut a little bit on the short end, but I think that comes down to personal preference. Passed by this place multiple times. It was a carry out only restaurant during pandemic time and reopened for dining in last year. It is a small place with about 6 to 7 small tables. Tried it today and here's my comment: the service is good and the owner served me. The decoration is great too. But for some reason the food is not good. Being eating in such a small space, I expect to get very hot (not just warm or even cold) dish. But unfortunately the dish I got is just warm. Especially the pork is colder than the noddles. I don't know if they cooked my dish and let it sitting on kitchen table for a long time before serving the dish to me. But there's no reason they would do that in such a small restaurant. Stopped for lunch as I was in town for the day. This restaurant is really small but food was tasty. They have lunch specials. I ordered the lunch special #13-PAD MA KEUR and the mango sticky rice. It wasn't bad. They have decent prices for their specials. Staff were ok. We found parking right in front. Came in around noon on a Weds. I would dine here again if I'm in the area. Came here for lunch on a saturday. Was not busy at all and we were able to be seated immediately. We ordered 3 dishes: green bean curry fried rice, pad see ew veggie, and panang curry with tofu Panang curry with tofu was sooo good! very thick curry, generous amounts of tofu that were fried but not overly oily and delicious garlic rice to go with it. Green bean curry fried rice was also good, more like a red curry fried rice with beans added - was good but didn't blow my mind. Thought the pad see ew was a little oily but overall it was good just not as good as the other two. Very small space so would recommend not coming here with a big group. A friend recommended this place when I visited San Francisco recently. I trusted him and viewed the website menu then placed an order - Pad see eew, Pad Gra Prow, and chicken wings with curry sauce! I got there about twenty minutes after placing the order and the food was packed and waiting for pickup. The restaurant is very small and. and I probably wouldn't have gone there if it wasn't recommended. It appeared to be a one man operation. I paid for the food - a bit pricey but that's the norm nowadays especially in San Francisco. When I got back to my destination and tasted the food - great! Not skimpy on the protein either! Pad kee mao; Random little hole in the wall spot and decided to try it out. I always get pad kee mao at Thai restaurants. I normally just order pad kee mao without looking at what's inside and was surprised to see baby corn and bamboo shoots. I personally love bamboo shoots in my ramen but I don't think it mixed too well in this dish. Noodles were fair, not completely soft but not overly oiled. Wasn't spicy at all and I forgot to ask them to make it spicy. Overall, it's a decent pad kee mao. One thing I hate the most is when stores are not explicit about the details of every price. I ordered panang curry that was $16. I was asked if I want rice, and I said yes. Rice was $3.50. I would rather be told the full amount for the full bundle of a curry dish rather than being withheld information. The rice was a lot that I couldn't finish. Pork in the curry feels like rubber. This has my family's go-to place for thai food for years, and it still is! Although prices have been shot up quite a lot since covid, we would still come back to support the local business. Of course, we love their pad thai and pad see ew. They give a generous amount of noodles and toppings, and the flavors are all there. I usually end up having enough for 2 meals. Another dish we love is their thai time wings-- fried chicken wings and drums in red curry with fried basil. It's a little soggy after bringing it home, but is still really good (definitely crispy when eaten there). TL;DR: It's always a good time for Thai Time. Thai Time Restaurant ranks among my favorite Thai restaurants of all time. I found it many years ago when I was living in SF and exploring the city. The food is phenomenal, and the cozy local-business vibes makes it even more special. (Much though I adore Kin Khao and the empire of Farmhouse Thai restaurants, small business hit different) Ever since COVID, they have been offering take-out and delivery only; I think operating costs with servers, washing dishes, etc. is unfortunately too high. Although I miss the dine-in experience in this beloved hole-in-the-wall, I'm very grateful that they still offer their delicious food with the same extensive menu. The menu is absolute Thai food galore. The sections are organized into appetizers, salads, Thai time favorites, other a la carte, noodles, fried rice, etc... there are item descriptions but no pictures, and TRUST ME you literally can't go wrong. Besides your typical pad Thai and the like, Thai Time has a mind-blowing variety of Thai dishes that aren't easy to find at other places. Some of my favorites are angel wings, hor mok, Thai Time noodles, green curry duck. Other notes: - Portions are generous - Price point is a steal (excellent value, especially considering how overpriced everything else is these days) - Service is very friendly (I think it's a family-owned small business) - Parking in the Inner Richmond isn't the easiest thing in the world, but not impossible since the side street is less busy - The online order process was seamless. Ordered delivery last night for family. Ordered gang panang, rad na, and yellow fried rice with beef. First of all, the food came at perfect temperature thanks to our Doorsdash delivery person. Arrived within 35-40 minutes. All dishes were mildly spicy which we wanted and it was to our liking. Had enough for leftovers the next day. I would definitely order again. Just an update to share that even a year later, the food is amazing!!!! Pad thai tastes exactly the same and they give the same huge portions. The green beans with pork (pad prik king) was very flavorful, though it was very heavy on green beans and lighter on pork. The pra ram long song was kind of opposite - lots of chicken (but also lots of steamed veggies - cabbage, carrots, darker greens/spinach?/bokchoy leaves?). The peanut sauce was veryyyy saucy so you def need rice with the dish or not get too much sauce. Pad See Ew with beef, amazing. Green curry duck - amazing. I LOVE this place.
